Who else is #teamfeelingood with me today? Tell me what's fabulous about your Friday! *beams*
So, today kinda sucked. Even more so than your average Monday suckage.

First, just about everyone in this house is sick, including me. Rhyan has strep throat. Rianna is in the hospital for the second night in a row with a chest/head cold type thing that sent her asthma into overdrive. They still can't get her breathing right, so she's in for another night. Whatever germy crud initially got to the girls has now attached itself to me too. So much DNW.

Second, I got word that a job I interviewed for a few weeks back, one I was genuinely excited about and for which I thought the interview had gone really well, is not going to be mine. And, that news just really drove home how much this whole unemployed/job search thing really just blows. I'm so sick and tired of not working; I feel as if my mind is literally turning mushier every day; financially things are getting trickier to juggle. The whole thing just sucks big hairy monkey balls.

But, despite the general suckage of this day, there were some really awesome things that, in the end, totally redeemed the last 24 hours for me.

First, Adam announced a second L.A. show!!! He'll be playing the Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater on Wednesday, December 15th. This is awesome for several reasons. The obvious one: MOAR ADAM!!! But an Adam show on this date at this venue is also a pretty cool full circle moment, as he performed there exactly 6 years ago, on December 15, 2004, in the Zodiac show where he sang an amazing version of A Change is Gonna Come. (YouTube vid of that performance for the uninitiated.) Mostly, though, this is awesome because it means a second show glamming and rocking out with my girls!!! *clings*

Second bit of awesomeness: Jerrod Niemann is doing a show in Mesa next month!!! It's been way too damn long since I've seen that boy do his thing. Jerrod's shows are always damn good times! *g* And I'm definitely needing some damn good times right about now! Any AZ peeps up for some country music, a hot dude with a guitar, lots of tequila shots, damn good times or any/all of the above, mark November 21st on your calendar and let me know!

Third awesome thing: Cheeks posted what is probably my favorite It Gets Better video! )

The most awesome thing about today, though, was a serendipitously timely and completely lovely telephone chat with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon! Man, a little perspective, some good advice, an understanding ear and the space to not have to hold it together from a good friend is just the thing to make yummy lemondaide from an otherwise lemon of a day! Thank you, baby! *mwah*

So, yeah, I'm still feeling like roadkill and I still don't have a job, but there were definitely some sparkly silver linings in this day!
Yesterday, Adam announced that his fan site was finally up and running. Naturally, I clicked over. The fan site looks awesome -- great photos, nice navigability, cool lookin' features. None of that is the truly sparkly part, though. No, the truly sparkly part is that when I clicked over I saw that there were VIP Meet & Greet packages already on sale!!! Holy moly smokes!!!!! Several frantic phone calls/texts later and [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and I have M&Gs for the New Orleans show and [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and I have M&Gs for the first Atlanta show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *flails wildly* I think it's going to take a little while longer for me to fully process the sheer awesomeness of this! Eeeeee! *flails more*

You may be hearing several reiterations of this flailiness over the next three weeks. JSYK.

And then my Saturday just kept sparkling harder. Several months ago, I helped out with some of the production costs for Cheek's webisode project, "Front Men," and recently he sent me a couple of copies of the DVD, one of them very graciously signed, and a lovely thank you note. Silly boy even included a package of popcorn, so that the proper snacks could be enjoyed while watching! *laughs* Anyhow, last night [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck and [livejournal.com profile] llandaff came by for a "Front Men" watch party. There was pizza and all manner of yummy snacks, including some very delish cupcakes with pink sparkles! We watched "Front Men," and laughed, and quoted, and laughed some more, and then we ate more sparkly cupcakes and girl talked until way too late! It was awesome-times! And "Front Men" is hysterical!!! I can't wait until the world can enjoy it too! (Also, L.A. peeps, I'll bring the DVD with me when I'm in town next month, so watch party at J's! *g*)

So, how's your weekend going? I hope everything is awesomely sparkly for you too! *mwah*

ETA: If you're on Adam's fan site, friend me! *beams*
Pretty Boy #1: Cheeks

Cheeks released a new video yesterday; this one is on the gay marriage issue. It's called "Don't be a Dick," and like all of Cheeks' videos it's both smart and hilarious. A seriously sexy combination. Also, he has sparkly rainbows in his eyes. He says they weren't intentional and he doesn't know what caused them, but they're kinda mesmerizing.

Pretty Boy #2: Kris Allen

I'm not sure what kinda breakfast of champions Kris has been eating lately, but goddamn whatever it is it's making for some ridiculously hot Pocket Idolness.

Pretty Boy #3: Adam Lambert

Adam changed up his set list tonight at his show in Erie, PA, and instead of Whole Lotta Love or Mad World he covered T. Rex's 20th Century Boy for his encore. Um, excuse me while I lose my shit again over that just one more time! lakdjfldkjofidkdkfjdifjdkf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was listening to the live stream of the show, and I think I might have let out an actual squeal of delight when I heard the opening guitar chords. *g*

(ETA: HQ vid.)

Two more vids of the encore. )

No, seriously, Adam was BORN to cover this song! This is the first time they do it and it is brilliant! Also, I fully expect him to be on his knees, licking Tommy's bass, by the time he takes his glittery, brilliant, AMAZING self to New Orleans! Just sayin'.

fun friday!

Aug. 6th, 2010 11:26 am
It's Friday!!! Although, I discovered this morning that Friday doesn't carry the same level of excitement when you haven't been slogging through work for the previous five days. *shrugs* Oh, well. It's still FRIDAY!!! I think Friday's, whether or not they come at the end of a work week, should be full of fun and sparkly things!

:: [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and I made a completely unplanned trip to Albuquerque on Tuesday for Adam Lambert's show. It was at a teeny-tiny theater that only held about 800 people, we found out Monday night around 11 that we could buy tickets off of someone, it was only about a 7 hour drive, my calendar was suddenly completely clear *g*, so we figured, what the hell. SPONTANEITY FTW!!!

It was a little weird to discover that this Albuquerque crowd was probably the rudest, most obnoxious GA crowd I've been in, including metal shows! Seriously, 300 pound dude, there's no need to push over a 12 year old girl to get closer to the stage. She's about 4 feet tall and weighs all of 90 pounds soaking wet; I'm sure you can see just fine standing behind her. And really, people, this was Adam Lambert we're watching; WE SPARKLE WE DON'T MOSH!!! Ugh. There were so many people thrown out, and I ended up getting the 12 year olds in front of me so that I could at least keep some of the rude shoving and pushing off of them.

But despite the rude and obnoxious crowd (which is really SO strange for an Adam show, as just about everyone else I've encountered has been super nice), there were some awesome people there too. I ended up partying it up standing next to the most gorgeous gay couple in Albuquerque, seriously these boys were SO pretty and touchy and distracting even with Adam on the stage! And the adorable gay teenager in front of us in line who was just as excited to see Tommy as he was Adam and who was practically vibrating with joy after the show filled me with glee!!! And the show was AMAZING!!! Vicki and I had a blast!

:: So You Think You Can Dance!!!! I'm so pleased with the final three. With the exception of Alex who was knocked out by injury and Billy Bell, who was eliminated last week, these were my favorites from the start. I was driving home on Wednesday night, so I didn't get to watch the performance episode, but I finally found Kent and Neil's contemporary piece, choreographed by Travis Wall. I might have watched this about a dozen times already, and if you haven't seen it yet, I'm sorry about your life! GodDAMN. Those three boys make magic together.

:: Cheeks as the gay equivalent of Blanche Devereaux in a theater remake of The Golden Girls!!!! This sounds like the most fantastically hilarious thing ever!!! There is no way that [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and I are not going to be there for this epic fabulosity!
This aptly summarizes just how freakin' hot it's been around here this week. (Link and laughs courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] without_me.) It also cracks me up. Probably because I'm currently sitting in my air conditioned office. As soon as I need to go outside, "featherless and golden brown and delicious" will cease to be amusing. Because NOTHING is amusing when it's approximately 10 degrees hotter than the ambient temperature of HELL. *melts. grumpily*

Speaking of NOT amusing: my laptop is still in ICU, which is, well no fun at all. My Computer Guy hasn't pronounced it dead yet, so I suppose there's still hope, but I'm getting really damn tired of not having my computer. *grumps some more*

But I do have some fic recs for y'all, which IS fun! *g*

Established D/s relationship. Neal is late. Peter is not pleased. Elizabeth just wants to get on with it.
She absolutely nails the characterizations, and, dear heavens, people, this is just smoldering hot!

Adam/Brad || NC-17 || ~ 3,500 words
Adam recently got his nipples pierced. No really he did and I'm not even going to apologize for knowing that. Owning my shame, here, people. *g* Anyway, Adam. Nipples. Pierced. Add Brad and you know the result will be ridiculously hot, right?

Happy Friday!!!
Monday is being an obstructionist bitch, and I can't watch this a 100 times like it so deserves to be watched, or flail over all the magical people partying like it's the last day of Burning Man on my computer screen, or squee over the outfits and the makeup and the general FABULOUSNESS of this video. But I'm putting it here so I can come back and do all those things later, but also so that y'all can do all those things too! Watch this people! Spot the Cheeks! Did you see Cassidy? How 'bout Alisan? And Allison??? They're all there! And more!!! And Adam looks and sounds amazing! Eeeee!!! I love this video!

Random sparkly fun stuff for your Friday happy-making!

:: Christina Aguilera's new video for "Not Myself Tonight"!!!

So hot out the box! )

What do y'all think? I kinda love it! It's certainly not groundbreaking in any way and rings of both Madonna and Lady Gaga. But, whatever, it's NEW CHRISTINA!!! And it's crazy hot!!! There's no bad there! *g*

:: Johnny Weir is adorbs! But this is not news. The news part is that he skated a gorgeous new routine, 'Heartbroken,' for Ice Theater of New York.

Heartbroken )

Beautiful! *loves*

:: Also not news: Adam Lambert is gorgeous! He was featured in People's Beautiful People edition.

Beautiful in every single way. )

:: Adam also seems to like hugging is pretty little bassist, Tommy. I approve of this!

Because all straight bassist hug their gay bosses like this, right? )

I just love how touchy-feely they are with each other. Pretty boys being huggy and adorable!!! There is NO bad here!

:: Cheeks' picks for Hot 100 are featured on After Elton today. So cheeky! And, according to him, this is not a "wish list," but a "to do" list! Which, you know, just pings the hell outa my, uh, love of lists! Yeah, that's it! *g*
My state sucks. I'm relocating to Glam Nation. *nods*

Also, "glitter and loveliness for all" is now my LIFE MOTTO! *g* (New life motto brought to us courtesy of Adam's MySpace chat from London this morning.)

It's Fun Friday, dammit!!! So, here are some good-time fic recs for y'all!

fabruary

Feb. 1st, 2010 01:00 pm
It's already been determined that this month is going to be FABULOUS, so it's been rechristened "fabruary." *g*

Speaking of fabulous, did y'all see Lady Gaga's performance with Elton John at the Grammy's last night? AH.MAY.ZING!

Pink's performance was absolutely incredible too. )

And that's basically all I have to say about the Grammy's. At least all I have to say that's positive. Other than, Adam looked GORGEOUS and SHINY!

But, forget the Grammy's and the fact that apparently our musical standards are being set by 13 year old girls, can we talk for a moment about THIS:

This is apparently a newly unearthed Adam/Brad picture that is quite possibly THE HOTTEST THING EVER! Good godDAMN. *bites lip*

Here's another because they are just too pretty not to share. )

But, seriously, those two were just so freakin' hot together. Also, is someone writing the Adam/Brad/Tommy threesome fic after Monte's tweet on Saturday??? Please tell me this is happening.

Ok. I have to run to court in about two minutes. So, I leave y'all to discuss the crazy levels of sexy and hot and dear gods, YES in these pictures. This week is kind of nuts for me, but I don't mind so much as Friday I'll be heading to L.A. for a weekend of Mardi Gras style shenanigans which will include Cassidy Haley playing in the Living Room of Acoustic Awesomeness (OMGYAY!!!! *twirls*) and football style shenanigans with a Super Bowl Party at Casa Hooker (Geaux Saints!)!!! See? I told you this month was going to be fabulous!!!

fabulosity

Jan. 29th, 2010 03:15 pm
There has been a great deal of fabulosity lately, but first a few less than fabulous things:

- Kurt Warner announced his retirement from the NFL today after a 12-year career. Man, I'm gonna miss him. He's been such a huge part of the Cardinals franchise and its turnaround. And he's just a damn good guy and there's just not enough of those in this world. All the best to you, Kurt. May you find nothing but success and happiness in whatever the next 12 years bring your way.

- Did I really read that they're doing a 6th season of Supernatural??? Man, if that's the case, then I think I'm just done. I mean, I've barely been able to muster up enough interest to watch this season (I still haven't watched last week's or this week's episodes!) and I am SO not entertained by Kripke's tumbling of the fourth wall anymore, but if on top of that they brought on the damn apocalypse and they're still not going to wrap this damn thing after 5 like they've said ALL ALONG, then I just don't think I have it in me to care anymore! Ugh. Supernatural, why did you kill my love for you??? We had such a beautiful thing going and now you've gone and tainted it!

Ok, but what of all that fabulosity I mentioned?

Well, let's start with Cheeks' new music video for Instant Gratification. I'll just say this: I highly suggest that you not press play until you're either very drunk or very stoned. I am firmly convinced that this would have been the most BRILLIANT thing ever, if only I'd waited to watch it when I was high!

Now that you didn't listen to me and played that anyway, am I right or am I right? Wouldn't that be just the most amazing thing ever if you watched it stoned??? Oh, Cheeks, baby, you amuse me so. Never stop. *g*

Also, have a mentioned this one dude named Adam??? Yeah, probably not. *g*

Well, anyway, today is his birthday!!!! 28 years old young FABULOUS! And, it's only fitting that on his birthday, we managed to secure OMFG SUCH AMAZING SEATS for his show next month!!!!!!! It was a concerted effort by a lot of truly amazing people. But tickets have been purchased, rooms booked, and next month we will be ROCKING THE HELL OUTA THE DESERT!!!! My mom is even going with me and she's so excited about it! And two of the girls from work are going with me too! It's gonna be a ROADTRIP!!! Off the fuckin' chain!!! *bounces*

Whew. There's been a great deal more fabulosity in the past 48 hours, but I'll just have to tell y'all about later. All that awesomeness is a bit exhausting. But SO worth it!
It's technically still Wednesday for me, at least for another 14 minutes. So, here's the weekly rec list of happy-making things!

And since nothing says Christmas like porn *g* here are fic recs for your holiday reading pleasure!

  • December (Kris/Adam, NC-17), posted anonymously for [livejournal.com profile] aiholidaybash: Kris Allen celebrates Christmas. Adam Lambert celebrates Hanukkah. On their first holiday season together, Kris is of the opinion that they’re not an ‘either/or’ kind of household. Lovely holiday schmoopyness with a side order of smut. Awesome!

  • Physics Makes Us All Its Bitches (Kris/Adam, past Kris/Brad, PG-13), posted anonymously for [livejournal.com profile] aiholidaybash: Kris is in Brad, Brad is in Kris, and Adam is in a lot of trouble. Kris-Brad bodyswap fic. Yeah, I know. I almost didn't read it too. But I'm glad I did, because OMG this is so good!

  • In Lights (Adam/Brad, NC-17), posted anonymously for [livejournal.com profile] aiholidaybash: Technically this is their second holidays together, but Brad doesn't really count last year...Last year Brad hadn't been in love. Festive and fabulous! With really hot under-the-mistletoe-sex, which is way better than just under-the-mistletoe-kissing!

  • Christmas Sabotage (Adam/Tommy, PG) by [livejournal.com profile] jeck7: Adam is a little obsessive about accessorizing, even when it's accessorizing a Christmas tree, Tommy is involuntarily enlisted as his decorating assistant, and the mistletoe does the rest. This is like the fic equivalent of sugar plums!!!

  • Boys Keep Swinging (Kris/Adam, NC-17) by [livejournal.com profile] eleanor_lavish for [livejournal.com profile] queenbitchfest: In which the author hits every high school movie cliche ever - Adam is slutty and conniving, Kris is adorable and amazing, Brad is snarky and brilliant, and the Jonas Brothers have cameos. An all-boys boarding school AU. I somehow missed this when queenbitchfest stories were first posted, but, goodness, I'm glad I read it now! This is High School AU perfection!

  • You Break Me Down (Kris/Adam, adult) by [livejournal.com profile] audrarose, a sequel to her kissing-pollen fic, The Monroe: Smut! What's not Christmas-y about that???

Enjoy!!! *throws glitter*
If you have no idea who these boys are, no worries, just enjoy the pretty and move along. For the rest of you...*flais*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Scandalpants! )
So many pretty boys! And they're all so shiny and talented! And, did I mention, PRETTY? Distracting!

Shiny Exhibit #1: Adam Lambert. (No one's surprised by this, right?)

Adam took some pictures. They are at once ridiculous and ridiculously hot!

Feathers! And armor! And SPRAWL!!! There is no bad here!

But, wait! There is MOAR!!!

*bites lip* )

* * *

Shiny Exhibit #2: Cassidy Haley.

Cassidy Haley, the very talented designer of Adam's Skingraft jacket of Ultimate Fierceness, is also a talented musician. He recently released an EP called Little Boys and Dinosaurs. I downloaded it from iTunes and I've been listening to it almost non-stop all day. I LOVE IT! He's got a great sound -- the rhythms are catchy, the lyrics are good. It's solid music!

And Cassidy is definitely not hard to look at. Here's his video for Whiskey In Churches. It's all kinds of sexy!

the devil's more my style at night )

* * *

Shiny Exhibit #3: Brad Bell/Cheeks.

So, for those of you whose fannish experience hasn't revolved around Adam Lambert for the past several months, Brad, also knows as Cheeks, is Adam's ex-boyfriend. The one of the now infamous boy-kissing pictures that surfaced during Idol. Yeah. That one. Adam knows how to pick 'em pretty. Also, Cheeks is all kinds of FABULOUS in his own right. In fact, I may be equally as smitten with Cheeks as I am with Adam. Crazy! I know! But he's smart and snarky. A winning combination! Plus, pretty. I did mention pretty, right? Y'all should be sensing a theme here. *g*

Well, Cheeks is also getting ready to release an EP -- Glambition, due out on September 1st. But today he released the first single, Down Low, together with a video. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I'm not sure I loved it as much as I loved Cassidy's stuff. It's mostly danceable fluff. But, it's Cheeks! And like I already said, I'm smitten with his little glittery self! So, naturally, there's some inherent fabulousness here. Especially in the video. Seriously, this thing is just a shade this side of soft porn.

GoCheeksGo
Work has totally been interfering with my internet time this week. Unacceptable. But while busy, things are still really good. We're really putting together a good plan for growing the criminal defense practice; I've got some really challenging litigation cases on my plate; I'm getting to work with and learn from some of the best litigators in the state. And I may even be doing a t.v. spot soon for an "ask the expert" type show on one of the Spanish language stations, but I don't have any of the details yet. Yikes! Sometimes, though, I feel like such a fraud, as if I'm mostly just faking my way through my professional life. I know this really isn't true, but the feeling of "oh, hell, I don't know what I'm doing" is often just below the surface of competency. One of my early mentors once said that this feeling never really goes away, and that it, in fact, helped to keep him sharp, always on his toes. I don't know whether that's true, and I'd rather think that eventually I'll start believing that I know what I'm doing, because I really do, but some days, man, are just duct taped together with a constant mantra of "fake it 'til you make it."

In less weighty musings, can I just say how pleased I am that my D'backs have actually been playing some baseball lately? Mark Reynolds has been freakin' on fire all through this clusterfuck of a season. I'm so happy to see him actually play to his potential. And Conor Jackson is finally starting a rehab stint. Poor baby has been so sick and I'm not sure if he'll be able to salvage anything of this season, but I'm glad to see he's finally on the mend. I may never forgive A.J. the Faux Manager for yanking Chris' starter position, but he did well in calling up Trent Oeltjen from Reno. This kid is amazing! Five games in the bigs and he's got 3 home runs, a handful of stolen bases, spectacular plays in the outfield, 5 RBIs, and a SMILE THAT WILL LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD! )

He's had this big, goofy grin on his face since he was called up. Adorable! And he's got this ridiculously sexy Australian accent! Mmmm, yeah, he can totally stay! *g*

Let's see, what else? Oh, yeah, I finally got caught up on Merlin. Talk about pretty boys who can totally stay! That show is completely ridiculous, but the eye candy is just irresistible!

Since we're on the topic of ridiculously pretty boys (as we often are around here *g*), I'll go ahead and confess that I've been completely charmed by Cheeks (Adam's ex, for those not in the glittery know). Seriously, that boy is too pretty for this world! Add smarts and a sharp sense of humor, and, really, how can you not be charmed???

Hm. This post is sort of all over the place, isn't it? Well, let's keep that up and end with this: OMG ONLY TWO DAYS UNTIL VACATION!!!!!! *flails* I have a million things to do still, but on Friday I get to hit the road for L.A. and an awesome-filled weekend with my girls! I cannot wait!
I'm sure I had things to say about today (is it Friday yet?), and life (still awesome!), and work (crazy busy!), and the master of the 80s teen flick passing away (RIP), and the first Latina Supreme Court Justice being confirmed (OMG YAY!), and my D'backs sweeping the Pirates, winning 7 of their last 8 and finally playing some damn BASEBALL (hot new Australian OF can definitely stay!).

But, instead, I've been distracted by the glitter. And, awesome person that I am, I'm sharing the sparkly with y'all!

First sparkly thing: [livejournal.com profile] phabella posted the most glitterific Adam (and Brad!) picspam ever! It's Adam! Covered in glitter and feathers and sparkly shit! Wearing fishnets! And generally looking fierce and awesome and completely debauched! AMAZINGLY HOT!

Second sparkly thing: Here in Secret Harmonies by [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia (Kris/Adam, R, Harry Potter AU!!!). This is quite possibly the most DELIGHTFUL thing I've ever read! I couldn't even begin to express how awesome this is! There are wizards, and magic, and singing, and glittery spells, and tiny messenger unicorns!!! Simply DELIGHTFUL!!! Just, go read. No, really. Go read now. I'll wait.

Shiny things are happy making! *beams*
