Pretty Boy #1: Cheeks

Cheeks released a new video yesterday; this one is on the gay marriage issue. It's called "Don't be a Dick," and like all of Cheeks' videos it's both smart and hilarious. A seriously sexy combination. Also, he has sparkly rainbows in his eyes. He says they weren't intentional and he doesn't know what caused them, but they're kinda mesmerizing.

Pretty Boy #2: Kris Allen

I'm not sure what kinda breakfast of champions Kris has been eating lately, but goddamn whatever it is it's making for some ridiculously hot Pocket Idolness.

Pretty Boy #3: Adam Lambert

Adam changed up his set list tonight at his show in Erie, PA, and instead of Whole Lotta Love or Mad World he covered T. Rex's 20th Century Boy for his encore. Um, excuse me while I lose my shit again over that just one more time! lakdjfldkjofidkdkfjdifjdkf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was listening to the live stream of the show, and I think I might have let out an actual squeal of delight when I heard the opening guitar chords. *g*

(ETA: HQ vid.)

Two more vids of the encore. )

No, seriously, Adam was BORN to cover this song! This is the first time they do it and it is brilliant! Also, I fully expect him to be on his knees, licking Tommy's bass, by the time he takes his glittery, brilliant, AMAZING self to New Orleans! Just sayin'.
For the record, the Pocket Idol is indeed pocket-sized in person. But he is also a confusing yet awesome mix of OMG SO ADORABLE and HOLY HELL SO GODDAMN HOT.

So, to start at the beginning, yesterday [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck, [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and I drove down to Tucson for Kris's show at the Rialto. Thanks to Vicki's handy-dandy GPS, I actually managed to get there without getting lost! But, even more awesome, Kris was there to greet us when we arrived! Well, sort of. As we were pulling into our parking spot, he walked out of the theater door directly in front of us with his guitar. We were caught a little off guard, so we didn't manage anything more than "Awwww, it's Kris!" We obviously have to practice our camera phone reflexes. *g*

After grabbing some food and one of the most delicious strawberry margaritas I've ever tasted at the Congress Hotel, we got our tickets and got in line. I was pleased at the diversity I saw in that line. There were certainly plenty of young teenage girls, but there were also plenty of guys, older couples, and young kids. We had the BEST time just watching the adorable fanboy in front of us completely lose his shit over Kris! *g*

Green River Ordinance opened and they were fantastic. I need to get me some GRO music because I completely loved their sound.

Kris was AMAZING!!! He far exceeded my expectations. He just really seems to have grown into his own this past year; he's much more comfortable on stage; his voice is sounding great; he and his band just seem to gel really well and produce such a great sound; he has just really developed as a performer. Basically, I freakin' loved it!!!

The set list included: "Can't Stay Away," "Heartless/ Gangsta's Paradise" (which I will always love a billion times better than Kanye's version), "Written All Over My Face" (one of my favorites off his CD), "Red Guitar," "The Truth," "Alright With Me" (another favorite), "Bring it Back," "Maybe," an awesome cover of Oasis' "Don't Look Back In Anger" (which is apparently the first time he's done it), "Before We Come Undone," "Man in the Mirror," "Is It Over" (gorgeous song!), "Live Like We're Dying" (which I love so much more live than on the CD), "Falling Slowly/With or Without You" (he does such a beautiful version of what is already a beautiful song, and I just love how is mashes it up with "With or Without You") and "Come Together."

There are some great videos HERE. She's disabled embedding, but it's worth the click over to see how awesome Kristopher was last night!

I stupidly forgot my camera, but I got a few pictures on my Blackberry.

MOAR KRIS )

After the show we walked out to the car and Kris was hanging out, practically in front of my car, taking pictures and signing autographs. I did mention that he's ADORABLE, right?!!! You can tell that he was exhausted, but he was still a total sweetheart. In sum, it was a great show! I was completely entertained, very impressed, and thoroughly charmed by Kristopher Allen. *g*
For some reason that simply defies explanation, I've been awake since 4 a.m. I'm thinking that this day is going to require both lots of caffeine and lots of random awesomeness to keep me awake and productive. I'm on my second huge Tigger mug of coffee, which takes care of the lots of caffeine and, because it's Tigger, also counts as random awesomeness. I'll definitely be needing more of both, but for now let's concentrate on the random awesomeness!

>> The Non-Football Fan's Guide to the World Cup, or, What To Do If You're Just Here for the Hot Men. This is perhaps the BEST thing on the internets today!!!

>> Quote: "Accepting oneself does not preclude an attempt to become better." ~ Flannery O'Connor.

>> Exercising the Happiness Muscle. Sadly, this isn't as kinky as it sounds. Instead it's "10 Easy Ways to Be Happy Now." Not kinky, but still AWESOME! I think we should all pick one to practice today! Y/Y? Tell me which one you're doing!

>> How Not To Obsess About Looking Fat In A Swimsuit and F-ing Enjoy Yourself! My freckles and very un-Latina-like white skin do not take kindly to sunshine, so unless there's a hot server bringing me fruity alcoholic beverages while I hide from the sun under a shaded cabana I'm not really into the whole beach/pool thing. But I nevertheless add my resounding HELL YEAH to everything said in that blog!

>> Attention Hot Geek Chicks on my flist (and I know there are a lot of you!): Casting call for hot, smart geek chicks at NerdGirls.com!

>> Kris Allen. What? You need more explanation of Kris's awesomeness??? Well, first, he gives us this: )

and this: )

But, lest we forget with all the hotness, he's still completely ADORKABLE: He's got PINK ELEPHANT tour t-shirts!!! *laughs and laughs* I am SO glad I'll be seeing his hot, dorky self on the 23rd!!!

Ok, that's enough caffeine and awesome to get me through 'til about 10 a.m. I'll take care of the coffee, but I'm relying on y'all to provide me with enough random awesomeness to get me through the rest of the day. Ready? Go! :)

unbent zen

Nov. 5th, 2009 10:13 pm
I was pretty sure this week had completely broken my zen. But then [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah pointed out that it was most likely just bent, and not broken. After a chill evening, yummy dinner, a bottle of wine, and the very real possibility of pie for dessert, I'm pretty sure my zen is now mostly unbent. Yay!

To further the zen unbending process, let's look at some pretty boys, shall we? )

The Script's new single, "Break Even," is also helping recombobulate my discombobulated zen:

I'm bummed I missed hearing them play the other night, but I've been making up for it by jamming to their music all week. Good stuff!
I'm still trying to wash out the bad taste from yesterday's complete failure of a day. So, what's better for happy-makin' purposes, than a Hot Guy Post?!!!

Does this really need any commentary? Other than ASDKFJLKDJF!!!!!!!1!!!!!

There's a super huge version of this pic if anyone wants poster-sized Pocket Idol hotness [HERE].

Cassidy Haley posted new pictures recently. )

And, to round out our Happy Makin' Hot Guy Post, Adam's video for Time for Miracles is out. I approve of post-apocalyptic, grunge!Adam!!!

Time For Miracles

Adam Lambert | MySpace Video

I was going to try to be cool about this, but, really, who do I think I'll be fooling? Y'all already know that I'm anything but cool when it comes to one Adam Lambert. So, bear with me for a moment, while a flail like a 13 year old at a Jonas Brothers concert!

Eeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! *flails wildly* *hyperventilates* OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *flails some more*

Ahem. *deep breaths*

Ok, I feel better now. *g*

For those who's fannish glee does not currently revolve around Adam Lambert, Time for Miracles, the song he recorded for the movie 2012, hit the web this morning!!! The buzz has been that this is the next "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing." And Brian May has been losing his shit over it since he heard it a few months ago. (He's such an Adam fanboy!) And it's finally here!!!

You can hear it [HERE]. Go on now. Go! Listen. And then come back and flail with me!!!

Lyrics )

Unsurprisingly, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! It's big and soaring and a great canvass for Adam's huge voice. But he's also said that it's very different from what his record is going to sound like -- that his music is going to have those classic rock undertones, but that it's also going to have dance and pop elements layered over it. So, I'm excited to hear what he's putting together. What do you guys think? Did you like this? Will you be disappointed if his record is less rock? TALK TO ME ABOUT ADAM!!!!!!! *beams*

In other Idol-related fannishness, can I just say that Kris Allen covering Britney Spears pretty much made my day yesterday!!! Check out the Pocket Idol rocking an acoustic-audience participation version of '...Baby One More Time'! )

Seriously, how is he so precious??? *loves*

Ok, I'm off to run approximately a billion errands today. I need to find 1930s/1940s accessories for my Halloween costume. And I need new jeans. And maybe shoes. Shopping!!! But first there needs to be more coffee and something resembling breakfast.

Hope y'all are having a fabulous Saturday! *mwah*
I entered a Hermit Year back in August and the year is so far proving to be indeed hermit-y. Of course, some of the isolation may be due to the unexpected surgery, recovery period, and being buried with work as a result. But whatever the reason, I've felt like burrowing lately. I just want to be by myself, get my house in order, finish projects, resume a sitting practice, spend time reading and thinking and just being. Unfortunately, it's been hard to find the time to actually do any of those things. I definitely feel very hermit-like though. Which is a good thing because it's making me rearrange things a bit so that I have the alone time I need right now; but it's also rubbing a little raw against the extrovert part of myself and I'm finding myself feeling a little disconnected from people. Which is a little sad making! So, um, connect with me! Tell me what's happening in your world! Share what's making you happy! Or sad. Whatever. Just talk to me! *beams*

But something that definitely isn't sad making (ha! how's that for a pseudo-segue?) are all the wonderful Adam news bits that have been flying around my flist today! He'll be performing his first single at the AMA's on November 22!!! The full version of "Time for Miracles" will be available this weekend!!! The video for "Time for Miracles" will debut before Michael Jackson's "This Is It" documentary!!! All of this is very happy making!!! As are these pictures of Adam announcing the AMA nominations this morning:

MOAR HAPPY-MAKING ADAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )

ETA: Found more pics! There can never be too many Adam pics! )

There was also this interview with producer Rob Cavallo who gushes about Adam's singing range and describes some of the music they're putting together and OMG I NEED ADAM'S MUSIC IN MY LIFE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And in other happy making Idol news, yesterday we got to see the cover of Kris Allen's upcoming CD. )

Seriously. He's just a tiny bundle of hotness. I don't understand how this is even possible. His mouth is just begging for Adam Jim someone to do really obscene things to it.
Ok, before I tell y'all about how awesome Phoenix AIDS Walk was lemme show you something! )

Ok. So, yeah, that was DISTRACTING!

Um. Ok, there were other things I wanted to talk about. *g* Like, Phoenix AIDS Walk! It was this morning and it was officially a resounding success! Yay! Thanks to all my amazing and generous friends (psst...that means YOU!) I raised $400. Which is all kinds of awesome considering my fund-raising efforts were a bit waylaid by the unplanned for surgery. So, to all of you who contributed, thank you!

I was a afraid that post-surgery the walk was going to be more of a crawl than an actual walk, but I was fine (although once I got home I realized I was just done for and have managed very little since). And it was so much fun! Just an amazing sense of community and shared purpose!

Phoenix AIDS Walk 2009 )

So, yeah, that was awesome! And my mom rocks because this year I wrangled her into walking with me. She was such a trooper and we had a great time doing this together!
"Grabbing life by the disco balls" -- life wisdom as heard on "Drop Dead Diva." I love it! And while I think that's an excellent life motto, it is perhaps a bit ambitious for this week. Instead maybe I'll aim for making my way out of the narcotics haze I've been in for the past several days and doing something more ambitious with my day than an afternoon nap. I'm definitely doing better. The pain has been downgraded to an annoying soreness and continued exhaustion. Dear gods, I slept so much this weekend! I'm home again today, just because I'm trying not to push it, but I'll likely be back in the office tomorrow.

Other than sleep, I did manage to get caught up with all the t.v. on my DVR. Yay! Sons of Anarchy continues to blow me away. I am disappointed all over again that NBC pulled the plug on Kings. I continue to be amused by (and find life inspiration in *g*) Drop Dead Diva. And I am enjoying Supernatural (although I don't seem to have much to say about it at the moment other than, Ellen is a fierce, sexy bitch!).

And since I'm still officially convalescing at home, I'm so glad that the Idols continue to provide such amusement! )

ETA: In my infinite wisdom, I somehow managed to delete the original entry. *facepalm* So if you commented and I seemingly ignore you, that's why.

I need to get myself ready to rock it out with Pink, but, dear gods, Adam was right, this boy is DISTRACTING! How so freakin' hot, Kristopher????
I am a little sad that I will no longer be spending my morning coffee time catching up on video footage and photos from the American Idols tour as it wrapped up last night. *woe* But the amazing footage and pictures from the final show go a long way to making me feel better.

hold on to the feelin' )
I'm on my third day of nearly complete sloth and it's been heavenly. Other than a workout with the trainer that kicked my ass into next week and a visit last night with The Nieces, I've done nothing this weekend other than watch t.v. and read fic. Which is exactly what I was aiming for after last month's craziness.

So, I have some pretty boys to share with y'all today, because I'm a giver like that. *g* But before we get distracted by the pretty, I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you that have donated to the Phoenix Aids Walk. Y'all seriously ROCK MY WORLD!!! There's still time, so if you want to help out, and really, any little bit helps, then you can go [here] to my donation page.

Ok. I promised pretty boys. [livejournal.com profile] arabella_hope posted this picture of Kris the other day and I really have no idea how I had missed this! Cute boy in really, really tight pants!!! )

Y'all remember Cassidy Haley, of the Whiskey In Churches video that I posted a few weeks ago, right? Well here's the video for his song Little Boys and Dinosaurs. It's fantastic!

Little Boys and Dinosaurs )

And, if it isn't entirely obvious from his music videos (which, really, are you just NOT paying attention???), Cassidy Haley is DAMN HOT!

*bites lip* )
