Let's talk about ME! *beams*

First, work has been kickin' my butt, but despite the months of 10-12 hour days, I'm still feeling fairly positive about it. Yeah, I don't even know. But I'm having FUN doing my job again and that's pretty awesome.

Second, in case y'all didn't know this, I ROCK! *g* That's true for a lot of reasons, but at the moment I'm referring to me rockin' the Take Better Care of Me Plan that is still going fantastically, if imperfectly, well. Not only have I been eating mindfully and journaling all my food for over 2 1/2 months, but I've also managed to lose 27 pounds. I could definitely be more consistent with the exercise portion of the Take Better Care of Me Plan, but I'm working on it and, more importantly, I'm not beating myself up over the imperfections. So, um, GO ME!!! \o/

Third, I've been making some summer travel plans and other plans for Fun Things To Do this summer, and I'm super excited for what's ahead!

Summer Fun )

And, here are some other fabulously sparkly tidbits for our Friday:

>> Russell Crowe and his Merry Men singing Beautiful Girls:

This brightened my whole day yesterday! And, to make it even more fantastic, according to his Twitter, they repeated this performance on the Spanish Steps in Rome later that day! *loves and loves* Can we get those damn TOFOG dates now!

>> Photos from the set of Adam Lambert's music video shoot for If I Had You where he invited all of his magical friends to take part in the all night party a la Burning Man video. Cheeks! Cassidy! Alisan! Rahab! And practically all the Zodiac cast! Eeee!!! So many fabulous people! I cannot wait to see this video!

>> Meet Adam and do good! Charity auction of an Adam Lambert concert and meet & greet to benefit City of Hope. I'm SO tempted!
Not gonna lie. Steve Carlson channeling his inner Madonna kinda made my night. In case y'all missed it, Steve, or rather Steve's voice, appeared on tonight's episode of Eastwick. Singing "Like a Virgin"!!!! HI.LAR.I.OUS.!!!

Highly amusing guest musical numbers aside, I'm really diggin' this show. It's pure brain candy, but it's fun and serves up plenty of pretty. It's definitely earned its spot on my DVR.

Speaking of coveted DVR spots, while I know that everyone and their mama is loving all over Glee, it's just not doing anything for me. Well, that's not true. I suppose I like it; the musical numbers are entertaining, the teacher dude is kinda adorable, and the kid who plays the gay boy is pretty damn fantastic. So, yeah, I like it. I just don't love it. I'm not giving up on it just yet, but, I don't know, every time I watch I'm ready to be blown away by the awesomeness, and then I'm just not. Help me out here, folks. What am I not seeing???

In other, completely unrelated news, I picked up my t-shirt for the Phoenix Aids Walk today. Yay!!! The walk is this Sunday. Dear gods, the walk IS this Sunday. Right now about all I'm feeling up to is a slow crawl. Walk or crawl though, either way, I'll be there! With bells on! Or, at least, with my nifty t-shirt on! So, I'll be thanking everyone properly, but let me give a quick yet very heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who's donated. Y'all seriously rock my world!!! If you haven't donated yet, there's still time. You can donate [HERE]. Every little bit helps!
I had a great time in California this past week, but damn it's good to be home. And sleeping in my own bed is THE BEST THING EVER.

[livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig, and I spent Saturday at the Getty Center. It was a gorgeous day and I loved the Getty. I'll have pictures to post later.

Then later that night, fortified with lots of alcohol, we braved the SPN convention crowd to see Steve Carlson and Jason Manns play. Man, that is truly an awkward venue for live music -- everyone is sitting in their assigned seats, no one is up dancing, and there is clearly not enough easily accessible alcohol! If I'm uncomfortable, I can't imagine how hard it must be to play to that kind of audience. But we did get up to stand over to the side during Steve's set so that we could dance and enjoy the music and try to pretend that that the awkward sitting crowd wasn't there. For the most part, it worked. *g* And, awkwardness not with standing, it was good to hear them both play, as it had been close to forever since I'd heard either one of them. And, as always, it was damn good times hanging out with my girls!

Since I was unable to sleep last night (even though I was SO tired!) I finally got caught up on Supernatural. I really liked On The Head of a Pin. More Hotass Angel of the Lord is always a good thing. *nods* And I wish I could tell you what I thought about It's a Terrible Life but the damn high def feed that I DVRed was fucked to next week and back and I only really got to see about a fourth of the episode. I am not impressed with this shit, Cox Cable!

I still have a hell of a lot of television that I'm behind on. I haven't watched any of Kings and this makes me very sad. I'm at least two episodes behind on Sarah Connor and Legend of the Seeker. And I haven't seen the finale of Battlestar. Eeek. I need another week off just to catch up on my shows!

Alas, the time off has come to an end. Now it's back to work, back to this damn job search. Grrr.

In happy real life news, though, Opening Day is only 7 days away!!! Baseball!!! I've missed you! *clings*
Egads. It's been over a week since I posted. Obviously, I'm still alive! (Despite the best efforts of these damn cat allergies. *sneeze cough wheeze*) I'm still in California, although I'll be heading home tomorrow. I miss my bed! But I've had a great time, and it's been good for me to just generally get away for a bit.

Since I'm supposed to be heading out the door about 30 minutes ago to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig, let me just give you the highlights:

* Had a fabulous time with the boy. I am well and truly smitten. *g*
* Discovered the best sports bar on the planet with the biggest screen I've ever seen baseball on AND recliner chairs!!! Not to mention kick ass margaritas! If I lived in SoCal I might never leave that place.
* Had a great time channeling our inner 5 years olds at Disneyland!
* Spent several days in the lovely company of [livejournal.com profile] annkiri, getting pedicures and massages and just generally having a great time.
* Had a yummy dinner with [livejournal.com profile] annkiri, [livejournal.com profile] allaland, and S at Aroma. Love that place! And the company, of course, was awesome!
* Got to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish during a relaxing night in.
* Got to spend some long overdue time with [livejournal.com profile] holywoodmermaid over brunch at Buno.
* Got me a [livejournal.com profile] wendy!!! *smishes* And I'll get to see her again tonight! *bounces*
* Finally got to meet [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig!!! She's awesome! I'm keeping her. *g*
* Had a lovely dinner at World Cafe to celebrate Becca's birthday! Yummy food, excellent drinks, and fabulous company!

Now, I'm off to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig. (Eeee! I"m late!) And tonight there shall be more hanging out with fabulous people as we catch Steve and Jason playing. And then tomorrow, finally, it's back home. See y'all then!
Road trip!!! All the bags are packed and in the car, there are plenty of snacks for the road, I'm about to go pick up the kiddos and then it's off to California for a long weekend of fun-filled shenanigans! There will be crazy antics at Disneyland, time with my fellow Hookers, and a holiday-flavored Steve Carlson show! Good times!

Everyone have a fabulous weekend and I'll see y'all on Tuesday! *mwah*

Wait! Before I leave...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] wrenlet!!! I hope your day is as wonderful as you are and the year ahead full of all kinds of happy-making things! *throws confetti*

And, while I'm delivering birthday wishes, a belated but heart-felt one goes out to [livejournal.com profile] way2busymom. B, baby, I hope your day was a happy one, but, mostly, I hope for you nothing but love and laughter in the year ahead! *blows kisses*
:: The dairy aisle is full of coffee creamers in wonderful holiday flavors! Mmmm. I bought Pumpkin Spice and I can't wait for my morning coffee!!!

:: Today's dance lesson once again highlighted my deeply rooted control issues. Dear Jess: Despite your best efforts, you are not in charge of this ride. Please to be remembering that, when it comes to ballroom dancing, your job is to follow and not to lead. *headdesk*

:: I just saw that Steve Carlson will be playing the Hotel Cafe on December 20th. This just happens to be the weekend that I will be in Anaheim with my niece at Disneyland. Interesting. Anyone who's joining me at Disneyland on Saturday interested in leaving early enough to catch Steve's show? *ponders*

:: I'm thinking of taking a yoga class again. There's a (relatively) new studio just down the street that I think I'll check out. They have Nia classess too, which I'm seriously thinking about trying, as well as a weekly Yin class. Anyone done Nia?

:: *laughs and laughs* Chad Michael Murray's episode of One Tree Hill is hilariously cheesetastic! I love all it's awesome badness!

*laughs*

I am amused! )

Also, an evening spent watching old Betty Boop cartoons with The Elder Niece is made of awesome. :)

Friday.

Aug. 8th, 2008 01:12 pm
That's it. Even though it's only a little after 1 p.m., I've had it, and I'm hereby declaring this hellacious week DONE.

So, yes. Weekend!!!!!!! Even better. Baseball weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \o/ Last night's game was a good time, despite the loss, which I'm blaming on my ill-advised negotiations with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish. I should know better than to jinx a series like that. *shakes head* In any event, it was good baseball. And my seats were spectacular, right next to the Diamondbacks' dugout. It was good to see Chipper on the field during batting practice. Conor Jackson was looking hot as hell, as per usual. Stephen Drew's defensive game was on fire. And, because Bob Melvin obviously loves me, he put Chris Snyder in for Miguel Montero in the 9th, so that I could see him take an at bat!!! \o/

And the baseball awesomeness continues tonight with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and our seats on Brian McCann's lap right next to the visitor's dugout so that she can see her boys up close. *g*

In other news, it seems as if the greatly anticipated reunion of Christian Kane and Steve Carlson will NOT be happening after all. At least it won't be happening next weekend in Arizona. The artist Christian was opening for canceled his show. *sadface*

And in much more disturbing news (at least much more disturbing to ME): Heather, the girl who's been doing my hair for over five years, has decided not to come back to Arizona. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She had been living in Portland for the past two years and traveling to Arizona once a month to see to all her Arizona clients, but I guess this got to be too much, so she's not coming back. This is horrible!!! *wails* I made an appointment with the girl that my mom's been seeing for about as long, so I'm hoping all will be well in the end. But me and my hair are going to miss Heather!!!

Ok. I'm off to do a bit of house cleaning before it's time for MOAR BASEBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear gods. This week has dragged on SO slowly. Work is progressing at a good pace and I've been able to get quite a bit done, but for whatever reason this week has seemed so sluggish. I did catch a bit of a break work-wise today by being relieved of duty with regard to a particularly problematic client. Which also means that I get my October back instead of it being consumed by what was going to be a long (at least 3 weeks) and likely horrifying trial.

And despite the slow pace, tomorrow is in fact Thursday, which, importantly in my part of the world, means the start to an awesome baseball weekend!!! \o/ I've got tickets to all four games of the Diamondbacks' series against the Braves and I'm SO looking forward to the time at the ball park! I'm hoping to get done with court and jail visits and the piles of paperwork on my desk early enough tomorrow to make it in time for batting practice.

Other tidbits for this forever-long week include:

- Generation Kill fic is slowly starting to make it's way to my flist. This is exceedingly happy making!!! Possibly my favorite so far: Home, Fick/Colbert (set after the events on the show) by [livejournal.com profile] wrenette.

- While football normally doesn't make a significant blip on my sports radar until after October, Sports Center is telling me that Brett Favre has been traded to the Jets. Hrm. That's really all I have to say about that. Hrm.

- Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be playing a closeted gay man in Ang Lee's "Taking Woodstock." With Liev Schreiber as a transvestite! And Emile Hirsch! The amount of AWESOMENESS in this one announcement is, well, AWESOME!!!

- Strangely, the venue where Christian Kane (and, apparently, Steve Carlson) will be opening next week for country artist Chris Cagle has stopped selling tickets for the show. The site says only "Sale Stopped." Yesterday when I checked availability they seemed to have plenty of open seats, so I'm not really sure what the "stopped sale" means. I'm telling you, this whole thing is wrought with strangeness. *boggles*

- 20 days until my birthday!!! I'm of the firm belief that one ought to celebrate their own entrance into this world for not just a day but for their entire birth month. *nods* So, I'm officially on Birthday Month Revelry!!! \o/

- The workout with Trainer!Boy today included a good deal of boxing. It was one hell of a workout, but, man, did it ever feel good. Beating the shit outa something is better than therapy! *is fierce*

Hm. Isn't that interesting? I didn't think I'd ever see those two play together.

[livejournal.com profile] annkiri will be joining me for the show. Anyone else up for it? *g*
- NIN offers its new record, The Spin, available for free download. Trent says: thank you for your continued and loyal support over the years - this one's on me.

- Jason Taylor: I'm serious about acting some day.

- We're getting Sprinkles Cupcakes!!! The Phoenix-Scottsdale store opens tomorrow. I'm SO there!

- Steve Carlson's new CD, Stripped Down, is now available for purchase here.

- Finally, a question for any of you that have seen Iron Man. My niece, Rianna, wants me to take her to see it. I, of course, REALLY want to see it. But is it appropriate for a five year old?

ETA: Thank you all for the feedback. There was no talking her into another movie, so, ultimately, I left the decision to her parents, who gave it a green light. And, while she closed her eyes at some of the more violent scenes and probably didn't fully follow the storyline, she stayed with it the entire time, no fidgeting or restlessness. Her assessment at the end: that was awesome!!! I, naturally, FUCKING LOVED IT!!!
I'm still down with the plague, but I'm hoping that another few days of rest, hot tea, and orange juice will fix me up.

Last night I dragged myself out for the Diamondbacks game, because not even the plague could keep me away. Sadly, the D-backs were playing just as wretchedly I was feeling. It was just not Micah's night, and it seemed that everyone else was playing just slightly off kilter. It was a gorgeous night for a baseball game, though. And it's always a good time to hang out and catch up with Allie. And, bonus, the fireworks after the game were pretty cool. So, despite the hacking cough and the disappointing loss, it was all good.

Today I got to watch the game from the comfort of my couch as I'm not moving from this spot until I'm feeling human again. The Diamondbacks were back on top of their game, with a 10-4 win over the Mets. This brings Brandon's wins to 7 out of 7 starts this season. Wow. And Augie Ojeda was on FIRE, man, with 6 RBIs. Great game.

Also, if you're wondering about the title, let me just say that Eric Byrnes has the best theme song ever! *laughs*

In non-baseball ramblings, I need to get better NOW because there's a lot going on in May. I'm taking my mom and nieces to high tea at the Phoenician on Friday for an early Mother's Day celebration. Rianna is supper excited to get all dressed up and have a "grown up" tea party! And then next Saturday we're having one of my family's Carne Asada and Margaritas parties. Y'all are more than welcome to join the festivities! There's also more baseball later in the month. \o/ And on the 17th Allie and I are driving up to Payson to hear Jerrod Niemann play. There shall be much drunken debauchery!!! And, listen up L.A. chicas, I just saw that Steve is playing at Hotel Cafe on the 30th. A weekend show! I'm thinking I need to plan a trip that weekend. y/y???

Um. I think that's all I got. I am, however, going to blame the rambling, slightly incoherent nature of this post on the vast amounts of cough medicine currently floating around in my system.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Come and tell me all about it!
The weekend was fabulous!!! I was in L.A. for the Salute to Supernatural convention, a Steve Carlson show, and (mostly) to see my girls [livejournal.com profile] wendy and [livejournal.com profile] annkiri who were in from Texas, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and [livejournal.com profile] glendaglamazon, and all my L.A. Hookers. We jammed so much into four days, there's no way I can cover it all, but I'll give you the condensed bullety version, along with a few pictures:

A Very Supernatural Weekend )

I think that's all the bullety recapping I can muster. In sum, the weekend was made of all kinds of awesome!!! Now I'm home and tired and missing my girls and trying not to think about having to get up early for court tomorrow.
OMG I can't seem to focus on anything for more than 5 minutes! Plus, it's GORGEOUS outside and I really don't want to be in my window-less office. *is distracted* This does not bode well for my productivity this afternoon. Also, it means that this post is going to be all over the place, just like my brain!

* * *

I'm amused. And by "amused" I mean just a shade this side of annoyed and kind of embarrassed for others. So, there was a recent blog post over at Christian Kane's MySpace announcing all kinds of happenings including the fact that the music is now going to be marketed under Christian's full name rather than "Kane." No one's really surprised, right? The amusing part is, again in the "no surprise" category, the reactions being posted to that announcement. Seriously, people, I'm sure no one gives a damn if you think the name change is a bad idea. Also, I'm quite certain that Steve is a big boy and quite able to look out for his own interests without your help. And that anyone would have the audacity to actually say any of those things on a musician's site is, well, amusing in that "OMG I'm so embarrassed for you," kind of way -- kind of like when you see some chick walk out of the bathroom with her skirt caught up in her pantyhose and you wonder if you should say something or just let her walk away with her, ahem, issues showing. So, yeah: hey fandom, pull your skirt out. Your entitlement issues are showing.

* * *

Jason Taylor admits to always wanting to learn to tango...because he thought it was sexy! Hee!!! I'm probably gonna make y'all crazy with my growing squeefulness over Jason's dancing debut next week. But, seriously, I'm so excited!!! Is it March 17th yet???

(Also, I need a Jason Taylor icon.)

* * *

I am so very annoyed with a certain prosecutor today. We had two telephonic interviews scheduled, which is the main reason I'm sitting in the office rather than outside enjoying this beautiful day. But she apparently didn't think these were that important because she blew them off without so much as a phone call or email to let me know she couldn't do them. I am NOT pleased. *scowls*

* * *

I have a coupon for a free lunch at Zoës Kitchen. Since I apparently don't have interviews after all, I think I shall go get lunch. Plus, there is something inherently happy-making about a free lunch!
I had such a fantastic weekend in L.A. with my girls!!! The drive home, though, was the complete opposite of fantastic. OMG traffic sucked so hard!!! It was a snarly, barely moving mess until I was nearly in Palm Springs and it added over two hours to my drive time. Grrr.

Now that I am finally home though, I'm completely hyped on all the caffeine I drank to keep myself awake thought that mess and I can't sleep! *bounces* So, instead of getting any much needed sleep before work starts kicking me in the ass very early in the morning, I'm going to tell you all about my AWESOME weekend and make y'all insanely jealous of the fact that I got to spend four and a half days with some of the most fabulous women on the planet! \o/

Is it any wonder I want to move to L.A.??? )
I'm home after a fabulous extended weekend in L.A. with my Hookers, having all kinds of good times! The point of the weekend was to join in the birthday celebrations for the beautiful [livejournal.com profile] azewewish. And, as there should be, there was indeed much celebrating! \o/

The highlights of the weekend included:
- football (Yay, Matt! *shakes head at Ben*)
- nearly naked, very hot men (OMG, hot like burning! Mmmmmmm.)
- dancing (So much fun!)
- delicious Sunday brunch (Yummy food, even better company.)
- shopping (\o/)
- movie night (Which, naturally, also featured nearly naked, very hot men.)
- much hilarious mocking (lovingly, of course) of the aforementioned nearly naked hot men (Dear gods, I laughed so hard this weekend, I thought I'd break something!)
- plotting our porn empire (What? It's good to have goals. *g*)
- an hour-long massage (Damn! That was almost as good as sex.)
- Steve Carlson's first show of the new year (It was mellow, but still all kinds of awesome.)
- HOOKERS!!! (Undoubtedly the BEST part of the weekend was spending time with my girls. *hugs all of you*)

Now I need to get unpacked and ready for bed, as work will be rudely interrupting my good times early tomorrow morning with court hearings, witness interviews and trial prep. *glares at work*
So, my Bah Humbug mood isn't quite as intense as it was earlier in the week. I'm convinced that the improvement in my mood is due mostly to those Candy Cane Joe Joe's. OMG! So delicious! I'll definitely be going back to Trader Joe's for more of those.

I also managed to get my tree up and trimmed. True, it's only a two foot table-top tree. And one of the strings of lights is now refusing to work. *grumbles* But it's definitely an improvement in the holiday decorating front.

I sat down to wrap presents the other day, and I wrapped one then just couldn't do any more. I hate wrapping. If it were up to me, I'd use gift bags for everything. Apparently, though, tearing open the gift wrap is half the fun. *grumbles some more* Anyone want to wrap my presents for me?

See, what I mean? The holiday cheer is very limited around these parts.

But! In a valiant attempt to get into an appropriately cheerful holiday mood, [livejournal.com profile] idiosyncratic and I went driving around to see holiday lights last night. The lights were scarce. But we did have hot chocolate to drink and Steve Carlson's Christmas CD playing. And while we only had Steve on Jo's iPod, while the L.A. Hookers had him in person (hope y'all had a great time!), that's still seriously a lot of holiday cheer right there. *g*

Plus we got to see a house decked out with so many gaudy lights that we couldn't help but stare (and laugh) in awe. This house, people, had a coyote howling at the moon and a sky full of blinking stars, on the roof a smiley face, a peace sign, and a Sponge Bob Santa -- all in bright, blinking lights! And the piece de resistance? A disco ball spinning in the entry way! It was brilliant. And, while some of the houses were decorated quite nicely, I was most impressed by whoever decided to decorate an entire portion of South Mountain. Someone decorated the freakin' mountain! It was awesome.

We came home prepared to watch Riley Smith on Criminal Minds only to discover, after we'd watched the entire recorded episode and hadn't seen any sign of Riley, that the network pulled all the first run episodes this week and aired repeats instead. There's apparently no new air date for Riley's show as of yet.

Let's see. What else? Ah, yes. In addition to failing at holiday cheer, I also fail at remembering birthdays this week. *facepalm*

It was [livejournal.com profile] thefirespiral's birthday on Monday. Monica is one of my dearest friends. I hope, Monica, that your day was fabulous, and that the year ahead brings all the insight and resolution you need in order to be happy and healthy!

A Belated Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] wrenlet as well! Wren, baby, I hope you had a great day! One of the greatest things of 2007 for me has been meeting you and getting to spend time together involving various shenanigans! Mwah!
This weekend wrap up is brought to you from, I kid you not, the McDonald's in Blythe, California. Poor Allie was getting a bit twitchy because she hadn't been able to get any work done today, so we made a brief pit stop on our trip back home to take advantage of McD's wi-fi.

The weekend, at least the part of the weekend spent in L.A., was fabulous. Yesterday started with an o'dark thirty wake up call so that [livejournal.com profile] technosage and I could get to L.A. in time to watch Sunday football with the Hookers. The early wake up was NOT fabulous. Neither was arriving at El Guapo and realizing that we were an hour early because we didn't know that there was a damn time change! *facepalm* Seriously, the time thing fucked with me all weekend.

The sleep deprivation was worth it though, because it meant we got to spend Sunday afternoon in a loud and rowdy sports bar with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, [livejournal.com profile] idiosyncratic, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb, and [livejournal.com profile] soylahtayplease. The Pats/Colts game was a nail-biter. And, gods did I ever love the big FUCK YOU Tom Brady delivered to the Colts and the miserably one-sided officials by wrapping up the win by taking three knees. Fucking poetic. Sunday football, a non-stop supply of drinks, yummy Mexican food, a Pats victory over the Colts, and an afternoon of hangin' with the Hookers. Good times, people. Damn good times.

Sunday night found the afternoon crew, plus [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, [livejournal.com profile] without_me, [livejournal.com profile] aproposofnothin, [livejournal.com profile] stormcloude, and [livejournal.com profile] fergus80 at L'Scorpion. I also got to see [livejournal.com profile] notthequiettype. *waves* The place was packed and I could have definitely done without the very drunk and very obnoxious English chick who wrongly assumed that her intercontinental airline ticket also bought her a free pass to be rude. Other than that, though, I had a great time! The musical lineup was as packed as the bar: Corey Pearson, Jason Manns, Riley Smith, Steve Carlson, and Alligator Dave. I was happy to have been able to understand more of Corey's lyrics (and by "more" I mean an additional word or two *g*); Jason was great (and is still perhaps the most adorable man on the planet); I really enjoyed Riley (and will now have to go dig out his CD I bought a month or so ago); Steve, as usual, ROCKED (also, his hair was especially shiny and bouncy *g*); and Alligator Dave was raunchy and hilarious (also, based on a brief chat before he played, he was quite sweet and far more "normal" than his music would suggest). In all, a great night of good music and the lovely company of the Hookers.

I would have loved to have slept in late this morning, but the Migraine from Hell derailed that plan. The morning was salvaged, though, by breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, before Allie and I headed back home. (Thank you, baby! I'm sorry I was such a grumpypants this morning. Stupid headache. *grumbles*) Breakfast was good, coffee was even better, and the company was best of all. *hugs you both*

Thirty minutes or so into our drive home, I somehow managed to get us turned around and headed back to L.A. Seriously, we were all the way back to La Brea before I realized we were going the wrong way. *facepalm* I'm blaming it on the residual headache and the fascinating conversation Allie and I were having. And, also, my co-pilot was obviously slacking in her duties. *glares at Allie* We did eventually make it out of L.A. and at least as far as Blythe. We'll make it all the way home eventually.
Man. Why do we even bother with this day? Seriously. Wouldn't the calendar be much more pleasant if we fired Mondays and instead had...oh, I don't know. Some other day that wouldn't involve a full day of work. Maybe a transition day from weekend to work week that involved only a few hours telecommuting in the early afternoon so that you could sleep in and work could be done in your PJs! This type of Modified Monday could work for me. *nods*

Alas. No Modified Monday for me. Instead I was at the office at 6:30 IN THE OMG SO FUCKING EARLY MORNING! *rubs sleep from eyes* Then it was to court. Again. And annoying clients who seem to forget that I was the one who went to law school, while they were the ones who broke the damn law. Therefore, the legal strategies are MINE to make. *grumbles* And, if that wasn't enough to make this Monday completely sucktastic. I somehow managed, while sitting at my desk and not engaging in any obviously dangerous activity, to SLICE MY FINGER OPEN. It bled all over my laptop and my files. And it hurt! Ouch! It's finally stopped bleeding and I have it bandaged, but trying to type with 9 fingers is no fun at all.

So, yeah. If I could, I'd fire this damn day.

But the weekend? The weekend is a keeper! Saturday was spent in a whirlwind of activity getting ready for a surprise 60th birthday party for my aunt. The surprise was a success. As was the party, which involved lots of yummy food, loud music, more alcohol than was probably wise, and about two dozen of assorted family members crammed into my living room watching ASU take Cal and Game 3 of the World Series.

After all the cleaning and cooking for the party and then the party itself with the drinking and the late night, yesterday was purposefully lazy. My brother and my niece came over and we spent endless hours watching sports on television. Unfortunately, my brother does not have the same appreciation for Tom Brady's ass as I do. So, my frequent exclamations over the perfectness of said ass were not well received. My niece, though, will grow up with a much more developed appreciation of both the game and, ahem, the players' talents. I consider it my duty as Aunt. *nods*

Also, kudos to the Boston Red Sox!!! It may not have been much of a series, but Game 4 sure as hell turned into a good game. Speaking of that win, has Papelbon reprised his riverdance yet? Someone needs to point me to that video when it happens. *g*

So, where were we? Monday sucks. Check. The weekend rocked. Check. The week ahead? There's work. But there's always work. The GOOD NEWS for this week is that on Sunday [livejournal.com profile] technosage and I are heading to L.A. for some time with the Hookers and to catch Steve Carlson and Jason Manns play!!! YAY!!! \o/ I'm thinking that if we time our drive right we can be in L.A. in time to watch the Patriots/Colts game. Again...YAY!!!

Anything else? Oh, yes. Apparently the weekend involved some wank and some more wank about the wank. *shakes head* It's strangely comforting that fandom will always involve some element of CRAZYCAKES. You know, kinda like that one family member who's on crack or perving on the teenage cousins or who forgot to take his meds and is in the corner talking to his spoon? Absolutely INSANE, but the family just wouldn't be the same without him. Then again, maybe it's just MY FAMILY that has this kind of crazy. *facepalm* Anyway, my point is, I think, that fandom just wouldn't be the same without the CRAZY. *g*
The last six days have been a whirlwind of airports and airplanes and fangirls and hilarity and drunkenness and way too little sleep and great music and awesome hookers and general fabulousness. But, really, there is too much for a real post. So, let me sum up. With bullet points!

Let me 'splain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. )

Good times, people. Good times have definitely been had. \o/ Now, though, I'm home, finally, and I am soooo looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight. Gods, I feel as if I could sleep for days.

There's been some friending of folks I met this past week. *waves* If I missed you, please stop by and say hi. The alcohol, and the tired, and the getting old, have wreaked havoc with my memory, so I'm sure I'm missing some folks. But I thought you were all fabulous and want to keep every one of you!
