I've got about a million tabs open, most of which represent other things that I should be doing right now instead of flitting around LJ. But, that's never stopped me before! Plus, I'm in an extraordinarily good mood today, and I want to share my happy with all of you! *beams*

These are some of the things that are contributing to my good mood today:

:: I'll be heading out to 1n10 this evening to help the kids start getting ready for Pride next month. Fun times!

:: Tomorrow night I'm meeting a friend downtown for some long overdue catching up and some St. Patrick's Day shenanigans. Really fun times!

:: I'm taking some steps (baby steps, but steps nonetheless) toward doing something more productive with my make-up obsession, other than making large contributions to MAC's and Urban Decay's profit margins. Ok, so now that I say that, I don't know if I've actually talked about that here. Basically, it occurred to me recently, with the helpful insight of some fabulous friends (*cough[livejournal.com profile] editorzoncough*), that (1) doing make-up is something that I really enjoy doing, it's a (much needed) creative outlet, and it's something I'm good at and can get better at; (2) I can give myself permission to pursue this passion as something more than just a hobby; and (3) I don't necessarily have to make a choice between "lawyer" and "artist" (i.e., "responsible" and "dreamer") -- crazily enough I can be both! All of this was, for reasons that I should probably unpack in another post, ridiculously terrifying for me to even admit, much less do anything about. But I've been looking into several different make-up artistry programs, gathering information, and making a plan for making this work sometime this summer. So, um, GO ME! *beams* *is still terrified*

Ok, so, in sum, make-up artistry musings, baby steps forward, all still scary but very happy-making. Moving on. :)

:: I get to see my L.A. girls next week!!! And in 10 DAYS I get to meet Darren Criss!!!!! *flails forever*

:: GLEE!!! Show, you make my heart happy!!! I've got lots of ~feelings about last nights episode, and thoughts, and approximately a billion screen caps, gifs, and videos that I want to post for my future repeated watching and endless enjoyment, but I think I'll do that in a separate post. This show and everything about "Original Songs," though, is definitely a part of today's good mood. *points to icon* So. Much. HAPPY!!!
I'm focusing on the positive, so let's talk about awesome, happy-making things! :D

First awesome, happy-making thing: DARREN FREAKIN' CRISS!!!! I got tickets to see him play a show in L.A. on March 26th to benefit the AIDS Project L.A. Awesome music for an awesome cause!!! (There are, by the way, a few tickets still available at that link.)

It's going to be a small show, only 150 tickets being sold. Even better? We ninja-ed tickets a day before they were announced publicly and managed to score MEET AND GREETS WITH DARREN FREAKIN' CRISS!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! Even 24 hours later, I can barely contain my flail!

And betterer still? I get to enjoy all this awesome, happy-makingness with mah girls, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish!!! So. Much. Happy. Making!!!!

This also means that Darren has given me the perfect excuse for a much needed weekend in L.A. So, heads up to my other L.A. chicas, brunch on Sunday, March 27??? Y/Y? *beams*

Second awesome, happy-making thing: Adam Freakin' Lambert! )

My t.v. shows have also been awesome and happy making lately. )

More awesome, happy making: my friend Sara is in town from Nashville and I'll be seeing her tonight. Sara is one of my oldest friends ever and I love that, no matter how much time passes, we can always pick up as if we had just seen each other the day before.

And, finally, awesome, happy-making for my peeps in the Houston and Austin areas: )
The absence of a routine has been a hard adjustment; so in an effort to start the weeks off right, I've been doing happy lists on Mondays.

Today has been a truly sucktastic Monday. High stress has resulted in low immunity, hence feeling only slightly more whole than road kill today. So did not need this right now. Wallowing in my own misery and phlegm, I really did not feel like thinking of positive things to put on a happy list today. But I guess that's the whole point, right? Focusing on the good despite feeling not good.

So, yeah, a happy list:

- Yesterday I got a surprise visit from an old friend, Sara, who I've known for over 20 years but whom I rarely see since she lives in Nashville now. It was so great though to go to brunch and spend hours talking and catching up and it truly feeling as if we were just resuming a conversation we started last week, even if it's been more than a year since I saw her last.

- Speaking of my amazing friends, I had a lovely phone chat with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon last night that made me again realize how blessed I am to have such fabulous women in my life. Y'all know who you are! *loves*

- Adam had a birthday on Saturday and there was a photo booth at the party, which meant hundreds of awesome pictures like this to sift through and enjoy: )

- Also, Nyquil and orange juice. Thank all the gods for Nyquil and orange juice.
I finally conquered my humongous To Do list! I'm all packed and ready to head out at too damn early in the morning for L.A. Yay!!!

I am SO looking forward to a long weekend with my best girlfriends, rockin' the last two shows of Adam Lambert's Glam Nation tour, seeing Darren Criss (twice!), Monte Pittman's solo show, showing [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and Vivian around L.A. and doing all the touristy things that I never do anymore, spending some long overdue quality time with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb, fitting in some holiday festivities, and all the other assorted shenanigans that are sure to ensue! I'm expecting lots of alcohol to be consumed, plenty of glitter thrown in the air, lots of great music to dance to, great conversations and abundant laughter. Good times shall be had! See y'all on the flip side! :D

(Oh, and thanks for any of those good thoughts sent my way today. The good juju definitely helped and all ended well! Hopefully that will be the last time I'll have to deal with the jackass ex-boss.)

december

Dec. 1st, 2010 03:03 pm
Ok, really, I'd like to know where the hell 2010 went. Because it seems like just yesterday that I was at Gridlock, hearing Adam perform his own material live for the first time, and ringing in the new year with some of the most amazing friends on the planet. And then POOF! The year is practically gone.

Good news is there's a whole month left to squeeze every last drop of awesome outa 2010! Who's with me? *beams*

So far, my December is looking like this:

- Yummy Thai food with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz to catch up from her many travels and to plan our fabulous trip to L.A.!

- Decorating the house and putting up the tree with The Nieces, who are both finally old enough to get really excited about Christmas!

- A sure-to-be FANTABULOUS trip to L.A. with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and Vivian (Roadtrip!!!) where I'll get to see my girls [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, and [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb (Hookers, I've missed you! *clings*)! There are sure to be shenanigans and damn good times had!

- Getting to see my boy Adam Lambert do his thing in his final two shows of this tour in L.A.!!! I'm expecting these shows to be AMAZING and for him to pull out all the stops for his hometown crowd. Also, I'm super excited about sharing these shows with some of my most favorite people! *loves*

- Seeing the uber adorable Darren Criss perform live! I understand that there are almost sure to be covers of Disney songs! I'm charmed already! *g*

- Seeing Monte Pittman perform his solo material! Monte is a musical genius and I'm thrilled to be able to catch one of his solo shows.

- Fangirls! All of these shows mean a convergence of sparkly and awesome fannish peoples! I'm looking forward to seeing some of the folks that I met traveling around the country this summer, and to finally meeting some of the ones that I missed before! Mi gente!!! <333

- Christmas! We have two little girls in the house this year, so, even though we're going low-key with the gifts, there will be no scrimping on the holiday cheer. Also...egg nog! :D

- Disneyland!!! The Nieces' Christmas present this year is a trip to Disneyland. So me, my mom, Rianna, Rhyan, and my sister in law (and any of y'all that I can cajole to join me *g*) will be spending four days, including New Year's Eve at Disneyland. Can't think of a better way to say good-bye to 2010 than at the Happiest Place on Earth!

So, what are y'all doing to wring all the awesome from 2010 in this last month? *chinhands*

Nov. 15th, 2010 11:32 am
I spent most of Saturday and Sunday selling all the extraneous stuff in my life to strangers, otherwise known as a garage sale. And, the lesson learned, from that experience? It's a hell of a lot of work to sell your crap to strangers, so next time I'm donating it all and saving myself the complete exhaustion and regaining those 2 days of my life! But, on the bright side, I did get rid of a whole hell of a lot stuff. So there's that.

This weekend I also managed to get caught up with some of my shows. Hawaii Five-O is still ridiculously happy-making. Talk about eye-candy, man. Everything and everyone on that show is just so damn pretty! I'm still loving Steve and Danny's chemistry and I love that the show is giving us more layers to Kono's and Chin Ho's characters. And I mentioned the pretty, right? Yeah, just a lot of pretty happening there.

The A-List New York continues to be my guilty pleasure, only, you know, really without the guilt. These boys are ridiculous and fabulous and such bitchy drama queens! They are HIGHLY entertaining! And I recently heard that LOGO was going to start casting for an A-List L.A.!!! How fabulous would that be? And how much would I love to see Cheeks in something like that?!!! Please, Universe, make that happen! *prays*

And, seriously, I have no words for how much Sons of Anarchy continues to just blow me away! That show!!! *loves and loves*

Other than selling my stuff to strangers and catching up on my DVR'd shows, I also spent a good part of yesterday watching football, and cringing at the complete mess that is the Cardinals football team, and just shaking my head at that crazy finish in the Jags/Texans game, and staring at Mike Tomlin being all intense and hot on the Steelers' sideline, and thoroughly enjoying Tom Brady's ridiculously long hair and scruffy look, and thinking that he should really get pissed and yell more often because goddamn his already high quotient of hotness increases exponentially when that happens.

So, now that the weekend is over and we're doing this whole Monday thing again, how 'bout a happy list to start this week off right? Yeah, that sounds like the thing.

[livejournal.com profile] wendy has put together a thoroughly awesome mix of self-empowerment songs, songs of the "I am amazing just the way I am variety." Good music, great message!

♥ In about an hour and a half, I get to have lunch with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz before she flies off to far away corners of the world again. Tacos! And tequila! And awesome friends! \o/

♥ There is some fantastic live music and time with awesome friends to look forward to this week with Bruno Mars on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck and Jerrod Niemann on Sunday with [livejournal.com profile] ladymairwen! Both are sure to be good times!

Ok, now it's your turn! What's happy-making in your world today? *chin hands*

ETA: OMG!!! How did I forget to mention this! Sutan Amrul, Adam's insanely talented make-up artist, has been cast as a contestant in season 3 of RuPual's Drag Race!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAJA IS FABULOSITY PERSONIFIED!!!!! January 24th! *marks calendar*
So, today kinda sucked. Even more so than your average Monday suckage.

First, just about everyone in this house is sick, including me. Rhyan has strep throat. Rianna is in the hospital for the second night in a row with a chest/head cold type thing that sent her asthma into overdrive. They still can't get her breathing right, so she's in for another night. Whatever germy crud initially got to the girls has now attached itself to me too. So much DNW.

Second, I got word that a job I interviewed for a few weeks back, one I was genuinely excited about and for which I thought the interview had gone really well, is not going to be mine. And, that news just really drove home how much this whole unemployed/job search thing really just blows. I'm so sick and tired of not working; I feel as if my mind is literally turning mushier every day; financially things are getting trickier to juggle. The whole thing just sucks big hairy monkey balls.

But, despite the general suckage of this day, there were some really awesome things that, in the end, totally redeemed the last 24 hours for me.

First, Adam announced a second L.A. show!!! He'll be playing the Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater on Wednesday, December 15th. This is awesome for several reasons. The obvious one: MOAR ADAM!!! But an Adam show on this date at this venue is also a pretty cool full circle moment, as he performed there exactly 6 years ago, on December 15, 2004, in the Zodiac show where he sang an amazing version of A Change is Gonna Come. (YouTube vid of that performance for the uninitiated.) Mostly, though, this is awesome because it means a second show glamming and rocking out with my girls!!! *clings*

Second bit of awesomeness: Jerrod Niemann is doing a show in Mesa next month!!! It's been way too damn long since I've seen that boy do his thing. Jerrod's shows are always damn good times! *g* And I'm definitely needing some damn good times right about now! Any AZ peeps up for some country music, a hot dude with a guitar, lots of tequila shots, damn good times or any/all of the above, mark November 21st on your calendar and let me know!

Third awesome thing: Cheeks posted what is probably my favorite It Gets Better video! )

The most awesome thing about today, though, was a serendipitously timely and completely lovely telephone chat with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon! Man, a little perspective, some good advice, an understanding ear and the space to not have to hold it together from a good friend is just the thing to make yummy lemondaide from an otherwise lemon of a day! Thank you, baby! *mwah*

So, yeah, I'm still feeling like roadkill and I still don't have a job, but there were definitely some sparkly silver linings in this day!

Aug. 31st, 2010 12:28 pm
♦ This weekend I'm off to San Diego for my cousin's wedding. I can always count on this particular branch of the family to throw one hell of a party when they marry off one of their daughters. So while I'm glad she's happy and all (blah, blah, blah) what I'm really looking forward to is (1) the opportunity to break out some fabulous formal wear and (2) the open bar!!! *g*

♦ In 8 days I will embark on my Glamtastic Vacation of Glittery Awesomeness!!! 3 cities, 4 Glam Nation shows, and 8 fantabulous days filled with several of my most bestest friends and as many damn good times as we can pack into a vacation!!! I cannot wait!

♦ I got a new camera for the trip! While I love my camera with the magical zoom lens, it's a bit unwieldy in crowded spaces like concerts. So I got a tiny camera that fits into the palm of my hand! Or my pocket! It's so small and shiny! )

What is the key to wearing black tie well? Go commando underneath. It adds an air of mystery. Oh, Matt Bomer. I do love you so! I also love Neal a lot. And Peter. And Mozzie. I miss Elizabeth though. There needs to be more Smokin' Hot Mrs. Suit in my White Collar. But, overall, this show entertains me immensely! *loves*

♦ Speaking of immensely entertaining: Kurt Warner is going to dance in the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars!!! *laughs and laughs* Oh, Kurt. Also, apparently you can't put Baby in a corner anymore. *g* I'm kinda looking forward to this show now!

♦ I'm again walking in the AIDS Walk Phoenix on October 3rd. I realize that times are tough out there, but any contribution, no matter the amount, really does make a difference. If it's your will, you can donate to my AIDS Walk efforts here.

Pretty! And sparkly! )
My ability to thoroughly procrastinate even when I have very little that I actually have to do is really quite remarkable. So, in the hopes of finding a job sometime before we slide into Fall, I gave myself a stern talking to yesterday and determined to treat the search for a job like a job. So far so good. We may actually see something resembling progress before I go trotting off on vacation in two weeks.

Which reminds me, IN TWO WEEKS I'LL BE IN HOUSTON!!!!!!! I'll have me the lovely [livejournal.com profile] annkiri (who I may refuse to let go of)! And we'll be hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] shutyourface and [livejournal.com profile] eckerlilas (fangirling FTW)! And we'll be glamming and glitterfying and SEEING ADAM LAMBERT STRUT HIS STUFF RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR FACES!!!!!!!!!!!!! *flails*

And then after leaving a glittery wake all over Houston, I'll be flying to New Orleans where I will be meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and then we will proceed to get up to all kinds of shenanigans and probably varying degrees of trouble for the next four days!!!! Bourbon Street! Delicious food! Lots of alcohol! Hot men! More alcohol! Beignets! Fabulous music! More hot men! *g*

NOLA shenanigans will also include another Adam Lambert show and passes to a pre-show meet and greet!!!!!!! *flails again*

And then! Oh, yes, there's more! And then, assuming I've survived the sheer level of awesomeness of those 5 days, I will be flying to Atlanta where I'll meet up with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz for TWO MORE GLAM NATION SHOWS AND M&Gs ON BOTH DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I'll be sharing the same air with Adam 3 times in 4 days!!! *hyperventilates*

*laughs* Truth be told I'm facepalming a bit over that, especially since two of those M&Gs are on back to back days. But, the second Atlanta show is general admission, and the VIP meet and greet package comes with early admission, which was completely worth every penny to me separate and apart from getting to see Adam one more time. Barricades, bb! \o/

So, yeah, basically I have 8 DAYS OF PURE GLITTERY AWESOMENESS HAPPENING IN JUST TWO WEEKS!!!

And you know what else is all kinds of glittery awesomeness? TOMORROW IS MY BIRTHDAY!!! *beams*

And now I think it's time for a nap! Man, unemployment kinda rocks. *g*

randomness

Aug. 11th, 2010 06:13 pm
Just in the last 24 hours I was reminded several times of how AMAZING my friends are, both in RL and online. They are wickedly smart, and incredibly generous, and amazingly talented, and fiercely authentic, and so inspiring, strong and courageous. And, just so we're clear, y'all are FABULOUS. *loves*

Ok, then. :)

Here, have some sparkly stuff:

:: An MP3 file of Adam's live cover of '20th Century Boy. I've had it stuck in my head on continuous loop for the past 20 hours! Not that I'm complaining or anything. *g*

:: A happy-making picture of Adam grinning like a fool at Tommy. Their FAAAAACES!!!

:: A truly amazing cover of KeSha's 'Take It Off' that is about two bazillion times better when Ke$sha is not involved! I had no idea I could love this song so much!

:: How 'bout some fic recs?!! )
I think that my show recaps are pretty much going to go something like this every time: ADAM LAMBERT BLEW MY FUCKING MIND INTO ITTY BITTY BLISSED OUT GLITTERY BITS!!!!! AGAIN!!!

I had such a blast in Denver, mostly because I got to share it all with [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva. We had AMAZING seats -- dead center in the fifth row. J is really channeling the ticket mojo for Glam Nation. *g* We chatted up all the folks around us who were all kinds of good times! I was especially amused by the cute gay boy behind us who was like this crazy mash up of Kris Allen's looks (plaid shirt included!) and Cheeks' personality (his snarky one liners were definitely for our entertainment!). J and I danced our asses off and basically had the best time ever! J wrote all about our time in Denver and the show HERE. I'll just have y'all go read what she said, reiterate my very eloquent and effusive show recap above, and get right on to the pictures. *g*

Allison Iraheta. Have I mentioned that this girl can ROCK??! )

Voodoo.

Adam and Tommy during "Fever" (no kiss, but they still crank up the flirt factor):

Adam during "Sleepwalker." I love this picture of him!

Monte shreds the hell outa the guitar!

I wish this picture was sharper. But, oh my heart, look at his FAAAACE!!!! His SMILE fills my heart with happy!!!!

Seriously, Adam. How so pretty, bb? *loves*

Adam!!!

After the show the good times continued when J and I met up with [livejournal.com profile] rhythmsextion for drinks. She is a complete sweetheart!!! It was so much fun hanging out with her and chatting and just generally having a fantabulous time! In short, Denver was FABULOUS!

louisville

Jul. 14th, 2010 03:37 pm
I actually DID make it home from Louisville. The rumors of me perishing from glam overload are hugely exaggerated, although it was close there for a moment. I had an absolutely FANTABULOUS time, but since I got back Monday morning, work has been a complete nightmare, so I haven't even had time to come here to flail and toss glitter about and share my pictures and just generally gush about how amazing Adam was and how is just completely blew my mind into tiny, sparkly, glittery bits all over again.

I finally did get my pictures uploaded last night though, so I'm hoping to write a re-cap post later today. I figure as long as I get my Louisville post up before the Denver show on Saturday I'm still technically ahead of schedule. *g*

Other than the glittery, mind-blowing awesomeness that was Glam Nation, I also got the chance to spend all of Sunday with two friends who I hadn't seen in over three years. Carole and Jerry are two of the most kind-hearted, beautiful, spiritual people I know and it was so wonderful to spend the entire day talking and catching up and just enjoying each others' company. It was completely refreshing and relaxing. I love spending time with people who motivate and inspire me to be the best version of myself possible; and that's exactly what they do and they somehow do it while at the same time being 100% accepting and non-judgmental of the me I am now. Plus I got to cuddle with their adorably spoiled golden retriever, Sweetie. So it was in all ways a lovely day that really did my heart good. :)

After being gone all weekend without my computer and dealing with the complete craziness of work once I got back, I am light years behind on LJ; so if something significant is happening in your world, or even if it's not, come tell me what's been happening with you! And I promise to post pretty pictures of Adam and Tommy later! *g*
Great Glittery Gods of Glam! This day needs to just be over already because then I can get on with my Weekend of Glittery Awesomeness! Less than 24 hours to Glam Nation in Louisville!!! *flails*

I'm not at all flaily about my departure time tomorrow though. My flight to Louisville leaves at 6:15! In the morning! In the motherfucking EARLY morning! This means I have to be at the airport before 5:00. I am so NOT cool with that. What the hell was I thinking when I made these plans??? *cries*

Whatever, man. There just better be a hell of a lot of coffee in my life tomorrow.

I haven't packed a damn thing, but since I'm carrying on I can't really take much so it shouldn't take me long. I did get my Flip video camera in on time, though, so I can document every glittery moment! I'm sure y'all will be SO pleased to be able to re-live it all with me later. *g*

*looks at clock* Go faster dammit!

I'm probably just as excited to spend some time with Carole and Jerry, who I haven't seen in about 3 years. Their deck is like a little slice of heaven and one of my favorite things in this world is sitting out there with them, drinking coffee, and discussing the mystery and magic in our world. They are two of the loveliest people I know and I'm so happy that I'll be able to spend some time with them on Sunday.

So, yeah, this weekend I'll be going from glammed out rock to philosophical conversations on the porch. *laughs* Hello, paradox! *g* Now this damn Friday needs to be over so I can get started on all that contradictory awesomeness!

july!!!

Jul. 1st, 2010 12:59 pm
Hello, July!!! You're finally here!

I'm expecting fantabulous things from this month. It's going to be the sparkliest, most glamtastic month of all! No, really! It is! Look! )

Eeeee!!!! *bounces* Only 10 days to glitter and glam!!!

And even before that, July gets sparkly, with a MUCH needed three-day weekend coming up! Dear gods, do I ever need this weekend. I'll be going to Tucson on Sunday to enjoy the 4th pool-side! With fruity adult beverages! And yummy food! Good times!

Yesterday, the NOH8 campaign announced that they'll be doing an open photo shoot in Scottsdale on the 12th:

Photobucket

I think this sounds like fun! Anyone want to join me?

So, yeah, lots of awesomeness in July. But the most awesome, sparkly, glitterific part of July is that this is the month that we celebrate the amazing [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva!!! Technically, today is her day, but, really, when you're talking about a woman who is THAT smart, sexy, and strong, a month-long celebration is definitely called for. *g* J, baby, I am so infinitely thankful to have you in my life. You are beautiful and brilliant and I cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for you! And I am absolutely thrilled to be sharing so much of this month's glittertasticness with you! You are a sister of my heart. I cherish your friendship and I love you like mad! Happy birthday, baby! *mwah*

hump day

May. 26th, 2010 05:37 pm
Hello, Wednesday! Why are you not FRIDAY??? *whines*

Seriously, this week could get a move on it now. On Friday I slip this joint and head to L.A. for a LONG WEEKEND OF AWESOMENESS WITH MY GIRLS!!! So, you know, Friday! Any day now would work!

In the meantime though, I gotta say, it's been a damn fine week. Today I escaped the office to join [livejournal.com profile] mysanal for a lovely lunch of yummy Greek food after which we meandered through the Farmer's Market, chatting and shopping until we had to head back to work. It was LOVELY! Plus, I learned we had a year-round Farmer's Market, right down the road!!! I did not know this, but now that I do, Dee and I have a date every other Wednesday for some Farmer's Market goodness! Yay!

Last night I watched the season finale of Dancing With the Stars. Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls won, which she totally deserved to do because she was FABULOUS. I wasn't particularly invested in this season, except that I didn't want Evan Lysacek win because for some unknown reason he just BUGS me. Anyway, Nicole and Derek won, so YAY! Also, Mark Ballas can pick up Derek and throw him on his shoulders anytime. Just sayin'.

I watched American Idol, mostly because I was waiting for Glee. Boring! Seriously, I cold care less about either Lee or Crystal. The entire hour was a snooze-fest, and the only half-way interesting part of the night was watching in fascination as Crystal tried to make her way down the staircase in heels without falling down. Although, I suppose that she's just marginally less boring and a significantly better singer than Lee. Either way, though, this season was a DUD. But, there's a rumor that Adam might be performing at the finale tonight after all, so I might have to tune in just in case. *g* And even if he doesn't I'd like to see Kris and Xtina. So, that's the t.v. watching plan for tonight.

But last night's Glee made up for AI with extra awesomeness!!! Lady Gaga!!! And Gaga-esque costumes!!! And another Lea and Idina duet (I never knew Poker Face could be so heart wrenching!) And Kurt being fabulous!!! And Kurt's dad being AH-MAY-ZING!!! Seriously, it seems that whenever those two have a scene together I end up a blubbering mess! And Finn going from asshole to ass-kicking! And, just, SHOW!!! *loves and loves*

Ok, I'm going to go get a few more things crossed off my To Do List, then I'm calling it a day. Hope everyone had a good Hump Day! Um, can it be Friday now? *g*
*waves* Did y'all miss me? Because I missed you!!!!

With my laptop down for a much needed overhaul for the better part of a week and a half and working being somewhere between batshit crazy and criminally insane, I've barely been online for days. I'm woefully behind on what has been happening in all of your lives and with all the other fabulous people who fill my life with glittery goodness. *woe*

But, my laptop has come back to me!!! It's all shiny and super fast now! I will have to reload a crapton of stuff, but my bb is back! *clings*

I did have a fantabulous weekend, though, with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon. It was so good to spend some time catching up, and talking about all manner of things both silly and serious. We hit the taco and tequila bar on Monday night and drank our way through a decent portion of their tequila menu, while laughing ourselves silly over dancing Jonas Brothers and talking endlessly about our respective sparkly fascinations. It was good times!

You know what else is good times? Kilts!!! Boys in kilts are one of my favoritist things ever!!! Adam was recently in Edinburgh. In a kilt! A glamkilt, of course!

The Glamkilt! )

So, as I was saying, KILTS!!! The fabulosity that is the glamkilt then spawned this post with all manner of boys in kilts! (WARNING: While completely awesome, that post is also quite NSFW. Just so you know. *g*) Please feel free to spam me with additional evidence of the fact that boys in kilts are awesome! It's possible that I'm still not convinced. *shifty eyes*

Did I mention that I missed, y'all? It was horrible to be so disconnected for so long! Now that I'm back, I want to talk to all of you, and hear all about what has been happening in your worlds, and what has been making you happy or sad, although I hope there hasn't been to much of that. So, to assuage my abandonment issues, I'm going to shamelessly steal thankfully borrow something that [livejournal.com profile] wendy posted today:

I think I know my flist pretty well. So, I challenge you to tell me TWO THINGS about yourself that I don't already know. Can you do it?

Tell me things, people!!! *beams*
I'm home again!!! Did ya miss me? *g* I had a fabulous time in L.A., and I miss my girls like WHOA, but it's also good to be home. There's no way I can recap the weekend, and I've already posted about the first part of the weekend, so let's just hit some of the other highlights:

- AVATAR!!! Amazing! It's just visually stunning and emotionally satisfying piece of art! Seriously, go watch it. And I can promise you you'll want to do it again. I know I do.

- HOOKER HOLIDAY PARTAY!!! [livejournal.com profile] azewewish cooks a mean paella! And Love Actually is one of the best holiday movies ever! There was also plenty of egg nog with extra nog, and there were gifts exchanged, but mostly, there was much enjoyment of the lovely company!

- MUCH NEEDED MASSAGES. Perfection!

- LADY GAGA!!! JFC that was RIDICULOUS! It was probably one of the best concerts I've ever been to! She is just fucking fierce, and her voice is incredible, and visually it was stunning (I seriously lost count of the number of wardrobe changes she had), and her dancers were amazing (and OMG, so HOT!). The energy in that place! Incredible! She performed for two solid hours, and the entire time every single person was on their feet and dancing. Seriously, she blew my fucking mind! It was AH-MAY-ZING!!!

- DAS TEKNO!. Ok, so most of you will probably not know who the hell I'm talking about, and really, that's ok. But for those who follow Cheeks' and Cassidy's antics, Das is a total sweetheart! Before Gaga took the stage he tweeted that he had talked his way in to the pit. Lisa and I were just six rows from there, so I looked over and, yup, there he was! A couple of @replies later and he's telling me to come down to meet him, so I did. We chatted for a bit and took a picture (which he'll be sending me once he gets back into to town), but we were annoying the security chick, so I went back to my seat. He was super nice, though! And didn't seem nearly as high as his tweets normally make him out to be! *laughs* And then, because apparently L.A. really is the smallest damn town ever, after the show we went to K24 to grab a bite to eat and who walks in but Das and his friend! We hugged and said hi again and waxed rhapsodic about the show and, again, he was just really sweet. It was, admittedly, a little bizarre to have Das Tekno repeatedly appear in my Lady Gaga experience. But, somehow, bizarre is probably fitting. *g*

And the best part of the weekend:

- MY GIRLS!!! Y'all are the most incredible, kick-ass women, and I count myself blessed to be in such stellar company and to call you all my friends, and more, my sisters. *hugs*

So, yes, L.A. was fantastic. I can't wait to go back for NYE!!!
My mini-holiday vacation has thus far been fabulous! [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva is a lovely hostess. We've done a good deal of simply hanging out, catching up, relaxing, and reveling in our mutual fannish obsessions. A perfect vacation, as far as I'm concerned!

Last night we met up with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, and [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb for a yummy dinner and even yummier holiday-themed drinks. As always, the best part was the company!

Tonight we added [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ to the mix and headed over to Silver Lake for the twinkiest adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" in the history of ever, aptly called Gay Apparel. It was fabulous! And it was made even more hilariously awesome by surprise!Adam Lambert. I recognized For Your Entertainment from the first note and promptly cracked the hell up! The accompanying dance moves made it even better! I was almost in tears, I was laughing so hard! Good times, man.

Tomorrow's merry-making agenda includes breakfast with accompanying morning-appropriate alcoholic beverages, followed by Avatar, and probably some football watching in the afternoon, and capped off with A Happy Hooker Holiday Party (tm), which will again include appropriate alcoholic beverage accompaniment, of course. *g* More good times!
Ok, work is throwing me against a wall and making me its little bitch today. But I have THINGS, happy things, that I want to share with y'all! So, I'm gonna hide here in LJ for a few minutes until someone knocks on my door or my phone rings for the 4 billionth time today. *nods*

First happy thing: Today is a most wonderful and glorious day for many reasons, but mostly because it is the day that we celebrate the awesomeness of [livejournal.com profile] wendy!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] wendy!!!!! I hope you have the happiest of birthdays and that the year ahead is full of love, laughter, friendship, and the all the wonderful messiness of LIFE! *mwah*

Second happy thing: HOLY GLITTERY GOODNESS, ADAM'S SINGLE DROPPED TODAY!!!!!

Bigger version.

It rocks so hard!!! It's called "For Your Entertainment," and if you haven't heard it yet, it's streaming and available for download [HERE]. The beat is RIDICULOUS and the lyrics are crazy sexy; it's fun and hot and if you can resist shaking your ass to this tune you're a stronger person than I am. *g*

FYE Lyrics )

So, GO! Listen! And come back and TALK TO ME ABOUT ADAM!!!! Or, really, talk to me anything! What's making you happy! What are your Halloween plans? What kinda glitz are you gonna display? (Ha! I sort of love that line. *g*)

in brief

Oct. 24th, 2009 12:18 pm
:: I'm in L.A. for the weekend and thoroughly enjoying hanging out with my girls! Last night was a quiet and relaxing night in at [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva's, with a yummy dinner courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] azewewish's awesome culinary skills, plenty of wine, amazing company, and the happy discovery of what is sure to be a new television obsession, White Collar. In all, a most excellent evening!

:: I finally managed to snag tickets for Lady Gaga's L.A. show in December! \o/ I'm not sure why, by that entire process was a huge clusterfuck. After a useless single ticket presale, wrong information up on Ticketmaster, hours spent trying to process a purchase premised on said wrong information, several frustrating calls to customer service, and learning that, despite said ticketing fuck ups, the show managed to sell out in less than a day, I was able to find what I hope are good seats in the 6th row from a third-party vendor. Go me! I am SO looking forward to this show and rocking out with [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_!!!

:: Today has thus far been completely chill, with painting my nails being the most ambitious thing that I have accomplished. Later today there will be some shopping for costume accoutrements while hanging, again, with the awesomest of women! And tonight's plans include tickets to see "Naked Men Singing." I'm told that the show is exactly as advertised: naked men, singing. What's not to like about this premise???

In sum: good times are being had! Hope y'all are having equally fantastic weekends!
