My last Monday of 2010 was mostly spent doing laundry and packing and getting ready for our Disneyland trip. Rianna is super excited. Rhyan can pretty much care less. :/ In fact, Rhyan is such a little grumpypants and total homebody, that I wouldn't be surprised if the little stinker insists that she wants to go hooooome when we're in the middle of the happiest damn place on Earth! I'll be heartbroken, but not surprised.

Anyway, laundry and packing happened. So did taking down the Christmas tree, which was a bit sad-making. But, at least we won't have to deal with it when we get back home next weekend.

Today was also the last Monday night football game of 2010, and godDAMN that was a nail-biter! The Falcons and the Saints played one hell of a gritty, intense game. I was happy, though, to see the Saints pull out the win and secure their return to the playoffs! Geaux Saints!!! (Um, sorry <lj user="azewewish"! :/ )

december

Dec. 1st, 2010 03:03 pm
Ok, really, I'd like to know where the hell 2010 went. Because it seems like just yesterday that I was at Gridlock, hearing Adam perform his own material live for the first time, and ringing in the new year with some of the most amazing friends on the planet. And then POOF! The year is practically gone.

Good news is there's a whole month left to squeeze every last drop of awesome outa 2010! Who's with me? *beams*

So far, my December is looking like this:

- Yummy Thai food with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz to catch up from her many travels and to plan our fabulous trip to L.A.!

- Decorating the house and putting up the tree with The Nieces, who are both finally old enough to get really excited about Christmas!

- A sure-to-be FANTABULOUS trip to L.A. with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and Vivian (Roadtrip!!!) where I'll get to see my girls [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, and [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb (Hookers, I've missed you! *clings*)! There are sure to be shenanigans and damn good times had!

- Getting to see my boy Adam Lambert do his thing in his final two shows of this tour in L.A.!!! I'm expecting these shows to be AMAZING and for him to pull out all the stops for his hometown crowd. Also, I'm super excited about sharing these shows with some of my most favorite people! *loves*

- Seeing the uber adorable Darren Criss perform live! I understand that there are almost sure to be covers of Disney songs! I'm charmed already! *g*

- Seeing Monte Pittman perform his solo material! Monte is a musical genius and I'm thrilled to be able to catch one of his solo shows.

- Fangirls! All of these shows mean a convergence of sparkly and awesome fannish peoples! I'm looking forward to seeing some of the folks that I met traveling around the country this summer, and to finally meeting some of the ones that I missed before! Mi gente!!! <333

- Christmas! We have two little girls in the house this year, so, even though we're going low-key with the gifts, there will be no scrimping on the holiday cheer. Also...egg nog! :D

- Disneyland!!! The Nieces' Christmas present this year is a trip to Disneyland. So me, my mom, Rianna, Rhyan, and my sister in law (and any of y'all that I can cajole to join me *g*) will be spending four days, including New Year's Eve at Disneyland. Can't think of a better way to say good-bye to 2010 than at the Happiest Place on Earth!

So, what are y'all doing to wring all the awesome from 2010 in this last month? *chinhands*
So, today kinda sucked. Even more so than your average Monday suckage.

First, just about everyone in this house is sick, including me. Rhyan has strep throat. Rianna is in the hospital for the second night in a row with a chest/head cold type thing that sent her asthma into overdrive. They still can't get her breathing right, so she's in for another night. Whatever germy crud initially got to the girls has now attached itself to me too. So much DNW.

Second, I got word that a job I interviewed for a few weeks back, one I was genuinely excited about and for which I thought the interview had gone really well, is not going to be mine. And, that news just really drove home how much this whole unemployed/job search thing really just blows. I'm so sick and tired of not working; I feel as if my mind is literally turning mushier every day; financially things are getting trickier to juggle. The whole thing just sucks big hairy monkey balls.

But, despite the general suckage of this day, there were some really awesome things that, in the end, totally redeemed the last 24 hours for me.

First, Adam announced a second L.A. show!!! He'll be playing the Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater on Wednesday, December 15th. This is awesome for several reasons. The obvious one: MOAR ADAM!!! But an Adam show on this date at this venue is also a pretty cool full circle moment, as he performed there exactly 6 years ago, on December 15, 2004, in the Zodiac show where he sang an amazing version of A Change is Gonna Come. (YouTube vid of that performance for the uninitiated.) Mostly, though, this is awesome because it means a second show glamming and rocking out with my girls!!! *clings*

Second bit of awesomeness: Jerrod Niemann is doing a show in Mesa next month!!! It's been way too damn long since I've seen that boy do his thing. Jerrod's shows are always damn good times! *g* And I'm definitely needing some damn good times right about now! Any AZ peeps up for some country music, a hot dude with a guitar, lots of tequila shots, damn good times or any/all of the above, mark November 21st on your calendar and let me know!

Third awesome thing: Cheeks posted what is probably my favorite It Gets Better video! )

The most awesome thing about today, though, was a serendipitously timely and completely lovely telephone chat with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon! Man, a little perspective, some good advice, an understanding ear and the space to not have to hold it together from a good friend is just the thing to make yummy lemondaide from an otherwise lemon of a day! Thank you, baby! *mwah*

So, yeah, I'm still feeling like roadkill and I still don't have a job, but there were definitely some sparkly silver linings in this day!
:: How did I not know that Jeremy Shockey was on Twitter??? I randomly ran across his Twitter account today. *follows* And, sweet jam on crackers, how can I possibly love this man any more? His Twitter bio? "Unwavering." That's it. Unwavering. That's how he describes himself! Just that! I'm equal parts amused and charmed!

Jeremy Shockey. Bio: Unwavering. )

:: Speaking of being equal parts amused and charmed, this is what Adam and his Glam Troupe were apparently up to before their last U.S. show at the Puyallup Fair in Washington: Let's play cowboys and Indians! )

:: MAC has this super cool new make-up line called Venomous Villians based on some of Disney villains! I was completely unable to resist the Maleficent eyeshadows and one of the Evil Queen's lipsticks! *grabby hands*

:: While were on the topic of Disney, sort of. My mom and I bought tickets to take Rianna and Rhyan to see Beauty and the Beast next month at Gammage! I absolutely LOVE this production and it will be the girls' first musical theater experience! I am super excited!!!

:: Why must there be all this super cool stuff that I want to buy when I don't have a damn job??? Cassidy Haley just added a hoodie to his Sunshine Rebels collection. *wants* But, you know, I've got Maleficent eyeshadow coming my way, so I'm going to resist the allure of the Rebel Hoodie.

:: I can't be the only one who actually wanted them to do a Christopher Cross number on GLEE, right??? Don't judge me! Christopher Cross brings up lots of childhood memories with my dad for me! :) Other than wanting Christopher Cross, this is what I thought of this week's GLEE ) Oh, and FYI, I really do hope that Brittany does a perform a musical number by Ke$ha next week! *g*
Oh, man, I just enjoyed the most epically lazy Sunday! It was fabulous!

I did very little else other than read, watch baseball, make yummy fruit smoothies for lunch, and goof around with The Nieces. It was a lovely day!

I did do a bit of trip planning that didn't involve Glam Nation tour stops. Namely a long weekend in San Diego in early September for a family wedding. This would be little fun at all if not for the fact that the wedding is at a gorgeous resort (spa time!), there will be an open bar (drunk time!) and I'm thinking of taking The Nieces so they can have a day at Sea World (fun time!).

Also, when Diana's Grove came up in conversation with my mom, she remembered me telling her that this was the last year the Grove would be operating and said she'd really like to go for a weekend. I think this is truly awesome! She really wants to go! So we're making plans to go for the Feast of Persephone in late September. It's so cool to see her so excited about this! And I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to get back to the Grove one more time. <3

In all, this has been a damn good Sunday.

springiness

Apr. 4th, 2010 10:23 am
Yesterday was Operation Spring Cleaning day. Unfortunately I had an unsolicited "assistant" in the form of a two year old Niece Child, so I actually accomplished far less than I had hoped to. But things are looking marginally more organized and tidy around here and I did have fun hanging out with Rhyan, so I feel better about LIFE. :)

It is GORGEOUS outside today. In a few hours I'll be heading out to a park to enjoy the lovely spring weather. There will be kite flying and bike riding and bubble making! Lot's of yummy food! Too much candy! And my very best efforts to not go completely crazy with my family's uber-religious pushiness. I'll also refrain from referring to the celebration as "Zombie Jesus Day" even though it amuses me greatly. *g*

So, before I go romp around in the park, I've got some recs for y'all. Consider these your Easter basket treats! Mostly because the idea of porn, slashy porn at that, to celebrate Zombie Jesus Day delights me! :D

Better than Cadbury eggs! )

Now, I think I will go steal a Reese's Peanut Butter Egg from one of The Nieces' easter baskets! Happy gorgeous spring day, y'all! :D
All week long I kept thinking it was one day later than it actually was. So I was very happy when today actually WAS Friday! I'm feeling a little frayed around the edges, so it's a good thing that the work week is wrapping up and that I'll have a few days to tie those frayed edges off.

Last night was helpful for some much needed de-stressing. I met up with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz at a new (or new to me) taco and tequila bar. The tacos were yummy and the tequila was plentiful! They had so many to choose from and I intended to make my way through quite a few of them, but then I tried a pomegranate tequila and I was sort of amazed by its deliciousness so I didn't get any further than that. Pomegranate tequila! Who would've thought. I actually feel kind of blasphemous just typing that. But it was SO GOOD! I definitely have to go back, though, and start working my way through their extensive tequila menu. Surprisingly, I don't consider this a hardship at all! *g*

It was also lovely to chat with V. I love it when new fandoms bring not only awesome new sources of entertainment but also wonderful and amazing new people into my life! Good times, indeed!

Tonight after work several of us are heading out to an evening Spring Training game. This thrills me immensely!!! I can't believe that we're more than half way through March and I haven't made it to a spring training game yet. How is this even possible? It's tragic, I tell you! Tonight, though, there shall be baseball! Exciting! And, if the stars align properly, I may even get to see my D'backs in a spring training match up before the month is out. *fingers crossed*

Weekend plans include taking The Nieces to the Renaissance Festival tomorrow, which should be fun. And then on Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon will be in town! Yay!!! I have no idea what we'll be doing, but I'm sure it will be nothing less than FABULOUS!!!

Speaking of fabulousness, is anyone in Austin catching Muse's show at Stubb's tonight for SXSW? If you are, you HAVE to come tell me all about it! I promise not to be too jealous of you. *g* I just want to hear all about what I'm sure is going to be an AMAZING show!

You know what else is AMAZING? The Hong Kong release of Adam Lambert's CD includes a condom, for your entertainment!!! *laughs and laughs* This is the most awesome thing ever!!!

So, what's amazing and fabulous in your world this weekend?
I've been working on a whole attitude adjustment thing, because, quiet frankly, I was getting tired of my own whiny bullshit. So, to kick off the week with a healthier mental space, I'm making me a happy list!

- Egg Nog with Southern Comfort! Is it wrong that this tops my list? Oh, well. It's definitely happy making. It went perfectly with all the decorating and shopping and generally kicking of holiday ass I did this weekend! So yummy!!!

- Snowflake Cookies! Thank you so much to everyone who sent me all the lovely snowflakes. Every time I'd get an email telling me I had a new snowflake it would make me smile. My profile is a blizzard of happiness!

- The Nieces! I got to spend most of the weekend with Rianna and her excitement over the holidays was contagious! She and I have decided that Santa Clause is indeed real! *nods* Also, Rhyan finally learned to say "Tía Gigi" and this fills me with GLEE!!!

- SAMe. I have not even been taking it for a week, but already I feel the difference in my thought patterns. Thank @god for healthier brain chemistry!

- Y'all! It really cannot be said enough: I've got the most kick-awesome friends on the planet! Love you guys like Dean loves pie! *mwah*

- Aces Take Your Time (Adam/Tommy, NC-17): [livejournal.com profile] i_amthecosmos wrote me Adam/Tommy knife-play fic and it's HOT LIKE FIYAH!

- Speaking of happy-making Adam/Tommy fic, how 'bout some Tommy rent!boy fic?!!! For Hire (Adam/Tommy, NC-17) by [livejournal.com profile] jeck7 and [livejournal.com profile] worlddescending. It's a long read, but OMFG so good!

It would also make me very happy if you would let me know if I can send you a holiday card or tell me about your favorite holiday recipe or link me to YOUR wish list! And I'm sure that my happiness is very important to you too. *g* So, go on, do it!

So much happy-making stuff!!! What's on your happy list this week? I wanna know!!!
Happy Monday, everyone! It's a new week. A clean slate. What are we gonna do with it??? I say let's rock the hell outa it! *beams*

Before I get to this week's plans, though, let me tell y'all about my awesome weekend. I spent Saturday with The Nieces, teaching them the finer points of power shopping! It's never too early to develop the skills necessary for effective retail therapy. *g* I managed to get Rhyan's Halloween costume (she's going to be the most adorable Tinkerbell ever!) and to find all of the accessories I needed for my vintage get up. Yay! Lots of shoe, clothes and toy purchases later, we dragged ourselves home and put two very exhausted girls to bed. It was a good day!

On Sunday I got to have brunch with one of my oldest friends on the planet! I hadn't seen Sara in over five years and yet we picked back up as if we had just seen each other last week! We talked and laughed and talked some more -- it was SO good to reconnect.

And, as a nice bonus, I found a great new (or new to me) place for brunch -- The Farmhouse in Gilbert. The food was so yummy! Plus Mimosas made with fresh squeezed OJ! Delish!

The rest of Sunday was all about sports. It was nice to see the Cardinals play the way I know they can. And having Matt Hasselbeck on my t.v. screen was not bad either. Especially as he was pissed off through most of the game and that boy just gets exponentially hotter when he's angry. *g* Matt Leinart took a few snaps and he's looking damn fine too. And how awesome was it to see the Phillies hand the Dodgers their collective asses? Very awesome, I tell you! Shane Victorino you continue to be made of awesome -- you, your HRs, and your adorable dimples can definitely stay!

Anyway. As I was saying, I'm planning on rocking the hell outa this week. Or, at a minimum, not allow myself to be pwned by it, like I have been lately. Baby steps, and all. Work is likely to be busy, as I've got depositions and deadlines and all manner of things on my to do list. But! On the bright side, it'll only be a four day week for me as I jet off to L.A. on Friday for what is sure to be a fantabulous weekend with my girls! *bounces* So, whatcha say? Shall we make it a good one? :)
