The national tour of "Spring Awakening" is playing at Gammage this week for two nights. My mom and I caught last night's show, and, holy hell, it completely blew my mind! I don't even know if I can coherently express how freakin' amazing this was. The music! The cast! The set design! Ahhhh!!!! No. Words. I might need to see it a few dozen more times before my words work again. Just, if you can, go see it. (My L.A. girls: it'll be playing at the Pantages in a few weeks. Go! Go! GO!!!)

Other fabulous things about this Friday:
♒ A Cassidy Haley sex tape. No, really.
This interview with Darren Criss. Delightful!
Pictures of Adam at Disneyland with Sauli looking ridiculously happy. :D

Now you go. Tell me what's fun and fabulous about your Friday! Or your weekend! Or your LIFE!!!
Disneyland tomorrow!!! I feel like that kid in the commercial: "I'm too excited to sleep!!!" *g* What can I say? I love Disneyland!

We'll be there until Saturday. I'm sure I'll be completely exhausted by, like, Thursday afternoon. Having that much fun is tiring! *laughs* But I'm also super excited about ringing in the New Year at Disneyland, as I've never done that before. AND, I'll get to see [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb and [livejournal.com profile] editorzon! Good times!!!

Speaking of Good Times, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ completely and wonderfully enables and encourages my obsession with Darren Criss. Bless her heart. And, as my enabler and encourager she has jumped on board my ridiculous plan to go to LeakyCon in Orlando, Florida, next July where Darren and the Starkid Team will be performing music from A Very Potter Musical and A Very Potter Sequel!!! There will definitely be field trips to Disney World and Universal's Harry Potter Theme Park involved! So exciting! :D

So, basically, I'm starting off 2011 indulging my inner 12 year old at Disneyland, and that theme will carry on through most of the year. Being a grown up is overrated. *g*

I'm not sure if I'll have the time to stop back in here before the end of the year, so, if I don't: be safe, be happy, and I'll see all you beautiful people in 2011!
My last Monday of 2010 was mostly spent doing laundry and packing and getting ready for our Disneyland trip. Rianna is super excited. Rhyan can pretty much care less. :/ In fact, Rhyan is such a little grumpypants and total homebody, that I wouldn't be surprised if the little stinker insists that she wants to go hooooome when we're in the middle of the happiest damn place on Earth! I'll be heartbroken, but not surprised.

Anyway, laundry and packing happened. So did taking down the Christmas tree, which was a bit sad-making. But, at least we won't have to deal with it when we get back home next weekend.

Today was also the last Monday night football game of 2010, and godDAMN that was a nail-biter! The Falcons and the Saints played one hell of a gritty, intense game. I was happy, though, to see the Saints pull out the win and secure their return to the playoffs! Geaux Saints!!! (Um, sorry <lj user="azewewish"! :/ )
Last night my mom and I stuck with tradition and went to a Christmas night movie. The only requirement for our Christmas movies is that they need to be happy-making, so we saw Tangled and it was indeed happy-making! So cute! But now I totes want to hear Darren Criss covering this song!!! )

Since this post is supposed to be about cheer, let me show you some of what's been bringing me all kinds of cheery thoughts the past few days. *g* Not surprisingly, this holiday cheer is really Darren Criss cheer! )

Speaking of holiday cheer, if you haven't yet please tell me what charity you would like for me to make a holiday donation to! (Yes, I'm going to keep bugging y'all about this until you do it! *beams*) This post and all the holiday charity giving has been incredibly happy-making. Thank y'all for bringing the holiday cheer with me! :D

You know what else has made me very happy? This stunning NOH8 photo of Tommy Joe Ratliff!!! )

Holy moly! Only 5 more days of 2010 left! Me, my mom, and The Nieces leave for Disneyland on Wednesday and that's where we'll be ringing in the New Year. I can't wait!!!

I've also been thinking about what word I'm going to pick for 2011. I have a few ideas, but haven't settled on my word yet. I love reading about others' experiences with their words though. My word in 2010 was PUSH, and I think it shaped my year in some interesting ways. It was definitely a year of pushing boundaries and exploring edges and walking into previously untrodden territory, some of it good and some of it less so. I'll definitely be unpacking that more as I think about my word for 2011. Has anyone else picked a word for 2011? Or does anyone have an experience to share about their 2010 word? I'd love to hear your stories! *chinhands*

december

Dec. 1st, 2010 03:03 pm
Ok, really, I'd like to know where the hell 2010 went. Because it seems like just yesterday that I was at Gridlock, hearing Adam perform his own material live for the first time, and ringing in the new year with some of the most amazing friends on the planet. And then POOF! The year is practically gone.

Good news is there's a whole month left to squeeze every last drop of awesome outa 2010! Who's with me? *beams*

So far, my December is looking like this:

- Yummy Thai food with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz to catch up from her many travels and to plan our fabulous trip to L.A.!

- Decorating the house and putting up the tree with The Nieces, who are both finally old enough to get really excited about Christmas!

- A sure-to-be FANTABULOUS trip to L.A. with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and Vivian (Roadtrip!!!) where I'll get to see my girls [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, and [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb (Hookers, I've missed you! *clings*)! There are sure to be shenanigans and damn good times had!

- Getting to see my boy Adam Lambert do his thing in his final two shows of this tour in L.A.!!! I'm expecting these shows to be AMAZING and for him to pull out all the stops for his hometown crowd. Also, I'm super excited about sharing these shows with some of my most favorite people! *loves*

- Seeing the uber adorable Darren Criss perform live! I understand that there are almost sure to be covers of Disney songs! I'm charmed already! *g*

- Seeing Monte Pittman perform his solo material! Monte is a musical genius and I'm thrilled to be able to catch one of his solo shows.

- Fangirls! All of these shows mean a convergence of sparkly and awesome fannish peoples! I'm looking forward to seeing some of the folks that I met traveling around the country this summer, and to finally meeting some of the ones that I missed before! Mi gente!!! <333

- Christmas! We have two little girls in the house this year, so, even though we're going low-key with the gifts, there will be no scrimping on the holiday cheer. Also...egg nog! :D

- Disneyland!!! The Nieces' Christmas present this year is a trip to Disneyland. So me, my mom, Rianna, Rhyan, and my sister in law (and any of y'all that I can cajole to join me *g*) will be spending four days, including New Year's Eve at Disneyland. Can't think of a better way to say good-bye to 2010 than at the Happiest Place on Earth!

So, what are y'all doing to wring all the awesome from 2010 in this last month? *chinhands*
Things what have amused me today:

:: This Kris Allen t-shirt! )

:: Don't even front. You know y'all want this penis chandelier in your foyer. *g*

:: His ridiculously adorable FAAAAAACE!!! )

:: This blind item made for some lulzy good times on my feed this afternoon. *laughs and lauhgs*

:: GLEE!!!!!!!! (I will have more to say about this later, but, the short version is, this show makes me happy!)

:: I bought tickets to see "Spring Awakening" when it plays here in January!!! This is very exciting to me! I also bought Disneyland tickets for our Christmas trip with The Nieces!!! (FYI: I'll be at Disneyland December 28th through January 1st, if any of my L.A. peeps want to join me for some magical good times in the happiest place on Earth! *beams*)

Oh, and I also made some yummy jambalaya for dinner!

Oh, one more thing! The Awesome Holiday Song of the Day! )

See? It was a pretty damn good Tuesday! :D
Egads. It's been over a week since I posted. Obviously, I'm still alive! (Despite the best efforts of these damn cat allergies. *sneeze cough wheeze*) I'm still in California, although I'll be heading home tomorrow. I miss my bed! But I've had a great time, and it's been good for me to just generally get away for a bit.

Since I'm supposed to be heading out the door about 30 minutes ago to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig, let me just give you the highlights:

* Had a fabulous time with the boy. I am well and truly smitten. *g*
* Discovered the best sports bar on the planet with the biggest screen I've ever seen baseball on AND recliner chairs!!! Not to mention kick ass margaritas! If I lived in SoCal I might never leave that place.
* Had a great time channeling our inner 5 years olds at Disneyland!
* Spent several days in the lovely company of [livejournal.com profile] annkiri, getting pedicures and massages and just generally having a great time.
* Had a yummy dinner with [livejournal.com profile] annkiri, [livejournal.com profile] allaland, and S at Aroma. Love that place! And the company, of course, was awesome!
* Got to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish during a relaxing night in.
* Got to spend some long overdue time with [livejournal.com profile] holywoodmermaid over brunch at Buno.
* Got me a [livejournal.com profile] wendy!!! *smishes* And I'll get to see her again tonight! *bounces*
* Finally got to meet [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig!!! She's awesome! I'm keeping her. *g*
* Had a lovely dinner at World Cafe to celebrate Becca's birthday! Yummy food, excellent drinks, and fabulous company!

Now, I'm off to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig. (Eeee! I"m late!) And tonight there shall be more hanging out with fabulous people as we catch Steve and Jason playing. And then tomorrow, finally, it's back home. See y'all then!
Seriously. How is it that it's only Tuesday and yet this week already feels at least two days too long???

My jury came back with a verdict late this afternoon. And while I'm completely exhausted, at least now my life gets to go back to normal levels of chaos and stress. Until Monday, that is, when I'm scheduled to start another trial. Ugh.

Tonight I'm watching American Idol while I get some work done, and then I'm squeezing in a short workout before I (hopefully) get to bed at a decent hour. I did mention that I was COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED, right? Also, don't judge my t.v. watching choices -- reality t.v. is about all my brain can handle at the moment.

So, other than what is apparently a continuation of my piss-poor mood, there are good things happening this week too! Yesterday, my beautiful, baby niece, Rhyan, had her first birthday! Holy moly, where did the last year go??? She's having a birthday party on Saturday and I'm hoping that she will smear cake all over her adorable face!

I'm debating going to a midnight showing of Watchmen on Thursday. On the one hand, WATCHMEN!!!!!!!!!!! On the other hand, good gods I'm exhausted. I just don't know if I'd be able to stay awake that late! Also, I have NOTHING on my schedule on Friday, so I could always go then. Hrm...it's a conundrum, for sure.

Also, a plan is finally starting to take shape for my trip to California later this month. Texas Boy and I will definitely be spending a long weekend (March 20-24) in and around SoCal, with a trip to Disneyland and maybe an excursion to San Diego on the agenda! Yay!!! The second part of the trip is less settled. I really want to stick around SoCal the rest of that week, catch up with my L.A. girls, and see some of my Texas girls when they're in town for the SPN convention. But with all the work stuff so up in the air, I just don't know if I'm going to manage it. For now, I'm just going to play it by ear and hope that some things fall in place before then. *crosses fingers*

And now, I really think this day could use a glass of milk and some chocolate chip cookies. *nods*
Work has me BURIED this week! There are simply not enough hours in the day to do all I need to do. And with trial starting on Monday, and every Monday thereafter until what seems like forever, I feel as if I have this big clock hanging over my head, ticking loudly and reminding me that I'm almost out of time to get shit done! So, I've been working late, prioritizing my various crisis, doing what I can do, and stressing out over the rest. Good times. Or, you know, the exact opposite.

I moved my training session from this afternoon until Saturday, because while I really felt like hitting something, I just didn't have time to workout. But I've decided that since there is no way I can get everything done anyway, I want to do something other than work this weekend. I'm thinking of going to the Renaissance Festival on Sunday. Costumed knights! Corsets! Jugglers! Mead! Fun times!

On the topic of Fun Times, I think the Texas Boy is going to go to California next month with me for a Disneyland adventure before I meet up with various fen at the SPN convention. Disneyland without a 5 year old in tow! I'm very excited about this! :)

I have a Pitchers' Edition of the Hot Men of MLB in the works, I just don't know when I'll have time to post it. So, in the mean time, some shots of my boys during the first week of Spring Training. )

Ok, this post was all over the place. I'm blaming the scattered brain on the work craziness. Yup. That's it.
Road trip!!! All the bags are packed and in the car, there are plenty of snacks for the road, I'm about to go pick up the kiddos and then it's off to California for a long weekend of fun-filled shenanigans! There will be crazy antics at Disneyland, time with my fellow Hookers, and a holiday-flavored Steve Carlson show! Good times!

Everyone have a fabulous weekend and I'll see y'all on Tuesday! *mwah*

Wait! Before I leave...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] wrenlet!!! I hope your day is as wonderful as you are and the year ahead full of all kinds of happy-making things! *throws confetti*

And, while I'm delivering birthday wishes, a belated but heart-felt one goes out to [livejournal.com profile] way2busymom. B, baby, I hope your day was a happy one, but, mostly, I hope for you nothing but love and laughter in the year ahead! *blows kisses*

Misc.

Dec. 17th, 2008 09:01 pm
So yesterday's trial didn't happen after all. After a frantic morning of last minute negotiations and motions and wrangling with a hysterical and unreasonable client, we were about to start picking a jury when the prosecutor decided that he didn't want to send a sheriff's deputy to pick up his extremely uncooperative victim and haul her to the court to testify, so instead he dismissed the charges. Sometimes the criminal justice system just spins itself in circles until until everyone on board this crazy ride is ready to throw up. *shakes head* Anyway. At least Ms. Crazypants is no longer my problem to deal with. This is definitely of the good.

Also of the good:

- I have a few things I need to get done tomorrow and then I'll consider myself on vacation until the 23rd!!!

- I've also finished all of my holiday shopping! I need to put some things together and wrap some packages, but I'm otherwise done. (I've also decided that I'm not going to stress about not having any decorations up yet. If it happens before next Wednesday, great. If not, I'm not going to worry about it.)

- I plan on doing some holiday baking tomorrow. Mmmm...cookies!!!

- On Friday I drive to California for a long weekend at Disneyland!!! I am perhaps more excited about this than my niece, Rianna. :D And, in addition to the Happiest Place on Earth, I get the added bonus of seeing most of my Hookers and catching a Steve show!!! It shall be a very good weekend!

I also have a bit of holiday cheer for y'all: Lady Antebellum's Baby, It's Cold Outside. Enjoy!
This week has not been easy. I'm definitely ready for it to be over. But, even so, there have been good things, small rainbows among the rain.

:: I made a large pot of gumbo from Thanksgiving's left over turkey and it's DELICIOUS! How did gumbo end up being my comfort food of choice???

:: While today was insanely busy, with crazy clients, back-to-back court hearings, difficult negotiations, and no time for lunch, I did manage to squeeze in time for a Starbuck's Peppermint Mocha and it was SO GOOD! It was like Christmas in a cup! Mmmmm.

:: [livejournal.com profile] idiosyncratic wrote this Jason Taylor/Jeremy Shockey bit and it made me insanely happy!

:: I've got the most amazing friends ever! *loves*

:: Disneyland in only 15 days!!! Which also means a trip in to L.A. to catch Steve Carlson's show and, most importantly, to see my girls!!! I can't wait!!!
I really wanted to choke all of my clients this morning. First, I get a call at 6:30 in the freakin' morning from one client informing me that she won't be in court because she's on the way to the ER with her kid. Ok. These things happen. I can explain all this to the court and probably get a continuance. But I'm really ill-equipped to deal with a hysterical, pregnant mom with a sick kid on the way to the ER who is convinced that she's going to be arrested in the hospital waiting room before I've had any coffee. Then I had a morning full of whiny clients with huge entitlement issues who are convinced that it's my job to make their every wish and want materialize because apparently they think I'm their fairy godmother instead of their criminal defense attorney! They're all damn lucky I didn't stab them with my magic wand pen!

Ok. Now that I've got that out of my system, on to happier things! Like BASEBALL!!! [livejournal.com profile] technosage and I went to our first game of the regular season last night to see the Diamondbacks take on the Dodgers. The D-backs won, 10-5. It was awesome to see Doug Davis pitch such a strong game on his last outing before undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer tomorrow. What a trooper, man. Hopefully his recovery will be a speedy one and we'll see him on the mound again later in the season.

Also awesome were our seats along the first base line in a section of the ballpark where we had wait service!!! Seriously! What's more awesome than a baseball game where a waiter brings your beer and nachos to your seat??? I can think of very little more awesome than that, except maybe if the waiters were hot and shirtless. *nods* There was also plenty of eye candy courtesy of one Conor Jackson on first base. Damn that boy is pretty. And, as Allie so artfully puts it, he's prodigiously furnished as well. *g* In sum, the evening was made of awesome and we had a blast!

In other happy flavored news, I'm currently busy packing because tomorrow morning I'll be heading to California for three harrowing fun-filled days at Disneyland with my niece, Rianna, and her cousin, Carissa. Thankfully, my mom is coming with me to help me run herd over the little ones. I happen to be one of those adults who really love Disneyland, so I'm actually looking forward to this trip. But I've also done this with Rianna before so I know exactly how EXHAUSTING all this fun will be! [livejournal.com profile] azewewish will be joining us at Disneyland on Saturday and on Sunday we'll be meeting up with Brenda and [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva for the Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues. It's my mom's birthday on Sunday, so I think the Gospel Brunch will be a fun way to celebrate. So, a fun and busy weekend ahead! Yay!!!
