I'm focusing on the positive, so let's talk about awesome, happy-making things! :D

First awesome, happy-making thing: DARREN FREAKIN' CRISS!!!! I got tickets to see him play a show in L.A. on March 26th to benefit the AIDS Project L.A. Awesome music for an awesome cause!!! (There are, by the way, a few tickets still available at that link.)

It's going to be a small show, only 150 tickets being sold. Even better? We ninja-ed tickets a day before they were announced publicly and managed to score MEET AND GREETS WITH DARREN FREAKIN' CRISS!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! Even 24 hours later, I can barely contain my flail!

And betterer still? I get to enjoy all this awesome, happy-makingness with mah girls, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish!!! So. Much. Happy. Making!!!!

This also means that Darren has given me the perfect excuse for a much needed weekend in L.A. So, heads up to my other L.A. chicas, brunch on Sunday, March 27??? Y/Y? *beams*

Second awesome, happy-making thing: Adam Freakin' Lambert! )

My t.v. shows have also been awesome and happy making lately. )

More awesome, happy making: my friend Sara is in town from Nashville and I'll be seeing her tonight. Sara is one of my oldest friends ever and I love that, no matter how much time passes, we can always pick up as if we had just seen each other the day before.

And, finally, awesome, happy-making for my peeps in the Houston and Austin areas: )

hump day

Hello, Wednesday! Why are you not FRIDAY??? *whines*

Seriously, this week could get a move on it now. On Friday I slip this joint and head to L.A. for a LONG WEEKEND OF AWESOMENESS WITH MY GIRLS!!! So, you know, Friday! Any day now would work!

In the meantime though, I gotta say, it's been a damn fine week. Today I escaped the office to join [livejournal.com profile] mysanal for a lovely lunch of yummy Greek food after which we meandered through the Farmer's Market, chatting and shopping until we had to head back to work. It was LOVELY! Plus, I learned we had a year-round Farmer's Market, right down the road!!! I did not know this, but now that I do, Dee and I have a date every other Wednesday for some Farmer's Market goodness! Yay!

Last night I watched the season finale of Dancing With the Stars. Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls won, which she totally deserved to do because she was FABULOUS. I wasn't particularly invested in this season, except that I didn't want Evan Lysacek win because for some unknown reason he just BUGS me. Anyway, Nicole and Derek won, so YAY! Also, Mark Ballas can pick up Derek and throw him on his shoulders anytime. Just sayin'.

I watched American Idol, mostly because I was waiting for Glee. Boring! Seriously, I cold care less about either Lee or Crystal. The entire hour was a snooze-fest, and the only half-way interesting part of the night was watching in fascination as Crystal tried to make her way down the staircase in heels without falling down. Although, I suppose that she's just marginally less boring and a significantly better singer than Lee. Either way, though, this season was a DUD. But, there's a rumor that Adam might be performing at the finale tonight after all, so I might have to tune in just in case. *g* And even if he doesn't I'd like to see Kris and Xtina. So, that's the t.v. watching plan for tonight.

But last night's Glee made up for AI with extra awesomeness!!! Lady Gaga!!! And Gaga-esque costumes!!! And another Lea and Idina duet (I never knew Poker Face could be so heart wrenching!) And Kurt being fabulous!!! And Kurt's dad being AH-MAY-ZING!!! Seriously, it seems that whenever those two have a scene together I end up a blubbering mess! And Finn going from asshole to ass-kicking! And, just, SHOW!!! *loves and loves*

Ok, I'm going to go get a few more things crossed off my To Do List, then I'm calling it a day. Hope everyone had a good Hump Day! Um, can it be Friday now? *g*
Glee!!!!!! Last night's episode was fabulous! Is Idina Menzel's character going to be recurring? Because that would be sort of awesome. I am SO looking forward to next week's Madonna episode though! And even though I loved last night's Glee, my favorite part was the last four minutes. This is fantastic!!!

Oh, man, Sue Silvester is my favorite snarktastic, fabulously fierce bitch ever!!!!!

So, um, yeah, I guess I'm all aboard the Glee train after all. You can probably ignore all earlier comments about me not being able to get into it. *sheepish*

This probably means that I should get me some Glee icons. Does anyone have Glee icon finding suggestions for me?

I watched more T.V. last night that I normally do, because there was no way I was going to miss Adam on American Idol. Adam's advice was spot on. Unfortunately, too many of the contestants didn't listen to him. The performances were flat, uninspired, BORING. I was unimpressed. BUT, Adam was pretty! So there was that. And, I'm pretty sure Ryan Seacrest was high. Seriously, WTF was that??? Adam though!!! Yeah, I think I'll just keep focusing on the positive. *g* And tonight he performs! As Rhyan says, "MORE A-LAM!" *beams*

You know what else? Hot baseball players!!! I kinda really like hot baseball players! I bet y'all didn't even know that about me, right? *g* And while I'm by no means a Dodgers' fan, I do appreciate the hot boys in Dodger blue. GQ did a piece on Matt Kemp and, dear gods, that boy is lookin' good. *bites lip*

Photobucket

And how is it that I didn't know he had such delicious ink on his arms??? Good gods, I hope Rihanna is appreciating the hell outa that! Here, have some more of Matt's smokin' hot arms! )

Also, while we're on the topic of baseball, I'm expecting my boys to pick it up in Chavez Ravine tonight. Yesterday's performance was just unacceptable. Please do be doing better, boys.

And this has absolutely nothing to do with anything else in this post (which I think is a running theme here!), but I thought it expressed really well my perspective on health and weight loss and my Take Care of Me focus: My Relationship With Food: A Reflection of Self.
Christmas was, for the most part, lovely.

Christmas Eve was somewhat less than lovely as it was spent at my aunt's house and I've decided that's the last time that's going to happen. There are some people I tolerate at holidays because, dammit all, they're family, and despite their various flavors of crazy and even some out-right fucked-up-ness, I love 'em. But, I will NOT spend another holiday with her creepy almost-but-not-quite-ex-husband, being his typical asshole self, and making everyone around him either uncomfortable or furious. There is simply not enough alcohol in the world for me to adequately deal with that shit. So, first resolution for 2010, no more holidays with assholes who are not family and I therefore do not have to tolerate.

Christmas day, however, was wonderful. The Nieces (and their parents) came over on Christmas morning and while the adults caffeinated, they ripped into their holiday loot. There were bikes and skateboards and books and games and all kinds of nifty things. They were both beside themselves with glee. There was menudo for breakfast and later I cooked up a humongous pot of gumbo for dinner. Cultural mash-up FTW!!!

In the better-late-than-never category: thank you to all of you who sent lovely holiday cards! I loved getting such wonderful reminders of the amazing people I have in my life! Y'all ARE the "merry and bright" part of the holidays and every day! *mwah* I'm also very sorry that I didn't get my holiday cards out this year. Please know that I love you all and wish you all the love and laughter possible in the year to come!

So, other than catching up with family and eating more yummy food than is probably advisable, the rest of my holiday weekend has been spent reading Yuletide fic! It's been awesome!!!

Here are some of my favorites so far:

Fandom: Black Dagger Brotherhood (Ward)
- Gifted (Butch/Vishous)

Fandom: Dark Hunter series (Sherrilyn Kenyon)
- it all started out as such an ordinary day (Dev Peltier/Sundown)

Fandom: Nightrunner series (Flewelling)
- Taking What the Gods Send (Alec/Seregil)

Fandom: Glee
- By Far the Most Volatile (Kurt/Puck)

Fandom: American Idol RPF
- Sensory Overload (Kris/Adam)

- I Can't Turn This Around (Kris/Adam): Amnesia!Fic. Just really well done, paced perfectly, with great character development. So good!

- They Come in Threes (AI/Merlin Crossover, Kris/Adam, feat. Merlin): This was absolutely DELIGHTFUL!!!

- Just a Kiss (Adam/Tommy)

Not Yuletide, but still eminently rec-able and thoroughly satisfying reading:
- On Skin (Adam/Tommy, R) by [livejournal.com profile] janescott

- Even the Losers Get Lucky Sometimes (AI/SYTYCD: Adam/Jakob Karr, NC-17) by [livejournal.com profile] mosca: Finally!!!!! \o/ Attention fic writers: MORE OF THIS PLEASE!!!!!

So, there you go, lots of good stuff to read! Now I need to get back to my lovely holiday weekend, which will of necessity have to include a little more productivity and a lot less awesome fic reading today. *sadface* My brother, sister in law, and the girls are moving in this week, so I need to get the office moved and the house ready for tripling the number of inhabitants. Dear gods, this is going to be insane! But, you do what you gotta do, right? Anyway, hope y'all are having/have had an equally lovely holiday weekend! *mwah*
I am a little sad that I will no longer be spending my morning coffee time catching up on video footage and photos from the American Idols tour as it wrapped up last night. *woe* But the amazing footage and pictures from the final show go a long way to making me feel better.

hold on to the feelin' )
The crazy thing here isn't that this was my second show of this tour. Nor is it the ridiculous amount of money I was willing to spend on good seats for this show. Or the lengths I was willing to go to in order to get my hands on meet and greet passes. No. The crazy thing is that the show was in Kansas City. Missouri. Kansas City fucking Missouri. I, on the other hand, live in Phoenix, Arizona. Which is to say, I flew half way across the country to see Adam Lambert perform a 20 minute set. My life! I'm obviously not the only one who has lost my mind, though, because it didn't take much to convince [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ to join me in my madness! (Thank you, bb! I had a blast with you this weekend! *mwah*)

The weekend was a blast! In short: Kris was a tiny bundle of hotness, Matt was charming, and Adam was fabulous.

Adam beckons you in to read the details!

The pre-show meet & greet aka The Procession of Ultimate Awkwardness )

The show rocked! )

Backstage after the show... )

The weekend was a blast and completely worth all the crazy lengths we went to in order to make it happen!
Last night I went to the American Idols show in Glendale. I've never been to an AI show, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The crowd was much more diverse than I thought it would be. My mom was very happy to note that she was by far not the oldest in the crowd. I had two extra tickets because I bought the closer ones, so my sister in law and Rianna went with us. This was Rianna's first concert and she had a great time! My mom, awesome grandma that she is, gave Rianna her fifth row seat at intermission, so for most of the show Rianna and I rocked it out from the fifth row. She totally got into it, dancing on her seat, and waving her little light stick during Kris' "Hey Jude." So much fun! So, before I get distracted by Adam's shininess, here's a picture of me and Rianna at intermission:

American Idols...10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5... )

In truth, though, this show doesn't really get started until the second half with rocker chick Allison Iraheta. She rocked the hell outa it! That is one talented kid and I can't wait to watch her grow into her own.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Next was Danny. Thankfully there had been plenty of margaritas before hand. Tequila makes anything better. *nods* I'm not sure that man could be more obnoxiously annoying if he tried. And, really, if I had wanted to hear a sermon, I would have broken my 20 year religious abstinence period and gone to church. I have some pictures of the Gokster, because my co-worker loves him and I promised her. But I really can't be bothered with the html.

And let's not kid ourselves, the only reason you can get me to willingly sit through Danny Gokey attempting to salsa dance followed by his self-righteous preaching, is to get to ADAM!!!!!!!!!!! The place went ballistic even before the lights went out on Danny and the crowd was on its feet through his entire set.

Dear gods, how is he even possible??? He's obviously a gift from the gods. He has a magically glowing crotch afterall. Adam's heavenly penis is mesmerizing! *stares and stares*

Photobucket

Adam did awesomely nasty things to his mic stand during "Whole Lotta Love," he was pitch-perfect during "Starlight," he broke my heart with "Mad World," he and Allison rocked the shit out of "Slow Ride," and he just KILLED the Bowie medley of "Life on Mars"/"Fame"/"Let's Dance". We got a "get up and dance, bitches!" and we got "baby" during WLL. His jacket was fucking fierce. Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen a more aggressive article of clothing in my life. Adam just commanded the hell out of that stage. That boy is just sex on two legs and every bit of that innate sexuality is in his performance. I cannot wait until his record comes out and he's booking a solo tour. Like I've told [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, I will definitely travel wherever necessary to see Adam perform as often as possible.

I have approximately a bazillion pictures of Adam. Hope y'all enjoy! (Click the thumbnail for the high-res pic.)

*bites lip* Yeah. That was Adam. I think it's appropriate to say that Adam shivermadizzles me.

And while Adam is one hell of a hard act to follow, I've gotta say that the Pocket Idol really holds his own. My appreciation for Kris Allen took a while to develop. I wasn't a fan of his on the show. But I gotta say, not only do I think he's freakin' adorable, but I really enjoy him as an artist now. He's got a quiet...I don't even know what it is. It's definitely understated where Adam is over the top; maybe even more sensually appealing where Adam is just flat out raw sexuality. I haven't even figured out what it is, but I like me some Kris!

More Adorable Pocket Idol! )

After the show we noticed that the barricades were set up right next to where we had parked. It was kismet. We had to stay to try to grab an autograph or two. It was about an hour and a half before the Idols came out. It was rushed and it was crowded and it was fucking hot, but in the end I managed to get Kris to sign my ticket, Allison to sign Rianna's, and Adam to sign my issue of his Rolling Stone spread. Awesome!!! And totally worth the wait.

I snapped a few pics on the barricade, but it was really too crowded and too rushed to do more than get your item shoved under their Sharpie for a quick signature before they were three feet down the line again.

To summarize: Adam is hot. Kris is adorable. They both rocked it out. And I can't wait for their material to come out and their solo tours announced. Oh, yeah, and there were no zombies. *g*

I took about 250 pictures in all; they can all be found [here]. Enjoy and use as you will. :)
Rianna was at the house yesterday and she had a new word: shivermadizzle. To her it means getting the chills because of eating or drinking something cold; the ice cream shivermadizzles her. *laughs* Yeah, I don't know where this kid comes up with these things. I just like saying it!

ANYWAY. Speaking of inexplicable shivermadizzley things, I had a crazyass dream last night that someone was calling me to tell me that Jason Manns had unexpectedly died and that there would be a service next week. Seriously, brain, what the fuckity fuck??? This is completely unacceptable as far as dreams go! I have no idea what my subconscious was on, but now I'm ridiculously concerned. Someone please tell me that boy is safe and sound and busy writing ridiculously sappy songs about K. *frets*

Let's move on to happier thoughts, shall we? ONLY FOUR DAYS UNTIL I AM FIVE ROWS FROM ADAM LAMBERT!!!!! Eeeeee!!! And I know that some of you are going to the show at the Staples Center tonight. I want to hear all about it!!! I expect texts and pictures tonight and a full recap tomorrow! I'm counting on you, Hookers. :)

Speaking of the Idols show, I still have two tickets to Monday's show in Glendale, if any of you locals are interested. I should probably post over at [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai. Anyway, if you're interested, let me know.

In other happy news, I've got tons of stuff happening this weekend. Tomorrow night I'll be going to see Harry Potter. I haven't seen too many reaction posts, so I don't know what people are thinking about it. I can't wait to see it, though! Then on Saturday I'm checking out that new dance studio that's really close to my house. Hopefully it's as awesome as it looks online and I can start fitting in an extra class or two starting next week! I've also got tickets for a matinee performance of Wicked on Saturday. YAY!!! I was so bummed I missed it last time it came through Phoenix, so I am ridiculously excited about seeing it on Saturday! Sunday I've got a workout with the trainer and about a million errands to run. And then on Monday it's the Idols show and ADAM LAMBERT!!!! *bounces* So, really, it needs to be the weekend already!
Saturday? Hm. How did that happen? The week was sort of crazy-busy. I spent it wading through court hearings, and meetings, and motions, and trying not to miss deadlines on cases that have gone unattended for way too long before I got them, and, yeah, just BUSY. So this morning I got up in a panic because I thought I was late for work. And, then I realized it was Saturday. *sigh*

So, I spent my morning enjoying several cups of coffee (mmm...) and reading Kris/Adam fic (mmm...). And now I'm getting ready to get my ass kicked by The Trainer. He's really stepped up the boxing in our workouts, which I love! But after Wednesday's workout my arms were so sore that putting on a bra was a challenge! *laughs* Seriously, though, the boxing is so cathartic. I think maybe I should be worried that I have so much anger that apparently needs venting.

Anyway, before I get on with what is apparently my Saturday (YAY!), I thought I'd mention a few things of GREAT IMPORT about this past week.

1. Randy Johnson got his 300th win!!! On Thursday, Randy became the 24th pitcher to notch 300 wins. I am still a little sad that it couldn't happen in a D'backs jersey, but I'm so happy for Randy. Way to go, Randy!

2. We won't speak of that series against the Dodgers, but my D'backs were looking good last night in San Diego. They were playing timely small ball, which they haven't done in a while, so it was very good to see. Also, Justin Upton is really playing well, offensively AND defensively, which is also very good to see! Please to be keeping this up, boys!

3. I got my tickets for the American Idols Tour!!! Eeeee!!! The fabulousness of Adam Lambert and his adorable Pocket Idol are in my future! *bounces*

4. Also, Sam Worthington happened. )

5. Oh, yeah. That Adam Lambert dude? And the other one? Kris or something? I read a few fics that had something to do with them. *handwave* Here are my favorites from this week:

  • faire le linge by [livejournal.com profile] colorofsmoke (NC-17). Cross-dressing. Ridiculously hot. *bites lip* No, really. I don't even think I would have named cross-dressing as a particular kink of mine until I read this.

  • Borrowed and Blue by [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia (PG-13). Poignant and beautiful. Saturated with emotion. I'll confess: I cried. Seriously, I normally don't do that, but this was just so well done and it just strikes the perfect emotional chords. So good.
Today I bought tickets to see Adam and Kris be adorable together rock it out live when the American Idol tour hits Phoenix in July. I should be epically facepalming, but instead I'm ridiculously excited about this!!! *bounces*
* I went to see Terminator Salvation )

In short, I'm a very happy Terminator fan! Also, in case it wasn't clear, Sam Worthington is HOT LIKE FIRE!!! And he'll soon be on our movie screens baring a good part of his very fine ass in a short skirt as Perseus in the Clash of the Titans remake! You can check out some early pics of this awesomeness here! *glee*

* These pictures of President Obama and Hines Ward making care packages for the troops filled me with GLEE!!! Seriously, the combined power of their smiles should be classified as a WMD!

* I'm still seriously jonesing for more Star Trek. I'm hoping I can get to the movies again sometime this weekend, but I'm also wanting some older Trek. I can't decide whether to buy the first season of Deep Space Nine, which I missed a great deal of when the series aired, or whether I want to buy and re-watch all of Next Generation first. Decisions!

I also waded through a lot of bad Trek fic this past week, but I did manage to find a few gems:

You're welcome. *g*

* So, this is the part of the entry where I confess my shame. We all know that I've loved Adam Lambert since his AI audition. (FYI: The part where I regularly watch American Idol is NOT the shameful part. Just so you know.) I think he's hugely talented and I can't wait until he starts making lots of amazing music! I also think he's gorgeous and confident and thus sexy as hell and I hope he's having lots of fabulous sex with equally gorgeous boys now that he's got some time to do something other than sing.

None of this is news. My inexplicable shameful joy is in how much I find myself loving watching Adam TOGETHER with Idol winner, Kris Allen!!! They are adorable together!!! They seem to have developed a genuine friendship and they can't seem to do an interview without gushing about the other one and they are touchy and huggy and silly and just wonderful together! I dare you not be be completely charmed! )

More proof of that Kris/Adam is PURE JOY!

Seriously, I don't even know where this came from! I was NOT shipping these two. Until I totally was. *facepalm*

(I could, however, do without the ridiculous smooshed name. Kradam. *hates*)
The D'backs are in the 13th inning of the second game of a double-header. It's almost 1:30 in the morning in Florida. Good gods.

All of these hours of baseball started with the tragic news that the wife of D'backs relief pitcher Scott Schoeneweis was found dead this morning. So sad.

This baseball season is just crazy. *shakes head*

So, yeah. What else?

Random thoughts!

Terminator Salvation tomorrow!!! I am ridiculously excited about this movie! *bounces*

AI )

So, I keep hearing various noises of delight about Glee. I missed it! Someone tell me about it! What is this gleeful thing and where do I find it???

I have about a dozen tabs of Star Trek fic open. *facepalm* Apparently I'm not discouraged by the high percentage of really bad fic out there. I persevere!
I was up most of the night working (blech!) and I was SO tired this morning in court. *yawn* So when I got home, I decided that a nap was in order! Now I still have tons of work to do, but at least I don't feel as if my brains are going to leak out of my head. Plus, I have a whole pot of freshly brewed coffee!!!

So, apparently I'm watching American Idol. Yeah. I'm not sure how that happened either. I suspect, though, that it was all my mom's stealthy plan as a means of revenge for all the baseball and football I make her watch. My mom is an evil genius. Anyway. My point is that I really like some of the guys. The girls (at least the ones in last night's group) suck. And some of them make me embarrassed for all of woman-kind. (Why is that Tatiana chick still on my television???) But the guys ROCK. I love, love, LOVE Danny Gokey. And I want to climb both Brent Keith and Michael Sarvor! (Heh. I think they're really talented too. *g*) And Ricky Braddy is the most adorable nerd ever with a voice that is bigger than the room! Anoop is really talented too. Sadly only three contestants will make it through. This is tragic! Also, I will scream a scream of pure rage if that annoying Tatiana chick makes it through and one of my boys doesn't. I'm just sayin'.

My t.v. shame. Let me show you it. *g*
