I'm focusing on the positive, so let's talk about awesome, happy-making things! :D

First awesome, happy-making thing: DARREN FREAKIN' CRISS!!!! I got tickets to see him play a show in L.A. on March 26th to benefit the AIDS Project L.A. Awesome music for an awesome cause!!! (There are, by the way, a few tickets still available at that link.)

It's going to be a small show, only 150 tickets being sold. Even better? We ninja-ed tickets a day before they were announced publicly and managed to score MEET AND GREETS WITH DARREN FREAKIN' CRISS!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! Even 24 hours later, I can barely contain my flail!

And betterer still? I get to enjoy all this awesome, happy-makingness with mah girls, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish!!! So. Much. Happy. Making!!!!

This also means that Darren has given me the perfect excuse for a much needed weekend in L.A. So, heads up to my other L.A. chicas, brunch on Sunday, March 27??? Y/Y? *beams*

Second awesome, happy-making thing: Adam Freakin' Lambert! )

My t.v. shows have also been awesome and happy making lately. )

More awesome, happy making: my friend Sara is in town from Nashville and I'll be seeing her tonight. Sara is one of my oldest friends ever and I love that, no matter how much time passes, we can always pick up as if we had just seen each other the day before.

And, finally, awesome, happy-making for my peeps in the Houston and Austin areas: )
I babysat Rhyan today. We read books and made up our own gibberish language and played silly games and put sparkly lip gloss on each other and generally had a FABULOUS time. Of course, all of these shenanigans meant I got absolutely nothing productive done at all. Rhyan's giggles were totally worth the lack of productivity, but now that her mom is home I really should get working on my to do list.

Riiiiiight after I waste a bit more time online! :D

There were awesome things that happened today (other than the adorable Rhyan giggles), but this is the awesomest: Obama's DOJ will no longer defend the constitutionality of DOMA!!! You guys! This is HUGE! That letter from Holder to Congress outlines the legal analysis so perfectly. This isn't the end of the fight; the executive statement only applies to Section 3 of DOMA (although and the fact that the DOJ won't defend the statute in court doesn't mean that they're not still obligated to enforce it; but it is definitely the beginning of the end for DOMA. About damn time!

Also awesome? I managed to snag tickets for the Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae "Hooligans in Wondaland" Phoenix show in June!!! I'm fully expecting this show to rock my world!

White Collar's ridiculous OT3-ness in this week's episode was also fabulously awesomesauce! Seriously, that scene with Neal and Elizabeth! Bring. him. home.!!!!! And Neal's slow-mo run of heartbreak and terror when they take Peter. And Peter being all fabulously competent and HBIC even when handcuffed and locked in a cage! And the secret message, and Peter knowing Neal could get him out, and Neal choosing keeping Peter alive over anything else. And the hug! And, ahhhh, just all of it! <333

Glee was kinda a hot mess yesterday, but even when it is I still love it. Santana doing body shots off of Brittany!!! Seriously, the show could have ended there and I would've been happy! Also, Kurt looked fabulous. And I actually thought the conversation with his dad added some complexity and layers that can be interesting. The whole "I might be bi, no, wait, definitely gay" thing was a mess. But...pretty people singing awesome songs! Also...Britana body shots! Thoroughly entertaining! *g*

Hawaii Five-O continues to be ridiculously pretty and fun. I'm shallow -- this is really all I ask for from my television entertainment. (See above. *g*)
Mostly, there are t.v. things:

:: White Collar: I'm so happy this show is back!!! )

:: Hawaii Five-O: I was several episodes behind, so had some catching up to do on my DVR, all the way back to Hana 'a'a Makehewa. Anytime we want to air another episode that involves a sweaty and gorgeous looking Chin Ho on his knees for practically the entire hour, please, Show, feel free to do that. Sweet jam on crackers, that was mind blowingly hot! Eye candy aside, I really loved that we got more character development for Chin Ho in the last episode. And, really, Steve and Danny, can you be any more married???

:: I just found out that I can stream Starz on Netflix! This is very good news because it means that I will be able to watch this starting this weekend! )

Also, while I'm really going to miss Andy Whitfield as Spartacus, this guy seems like a good choice to replace him.

:: The Cape I really wanted to watch another show with Summer Glau in it, and I tried, I really did. But no. Just, um, no.

:: Jason Clarke will be back on my television screen soon!!! I just saw the preview for The Chicago Code and I made all kinds of embarrassing squeaky noises of glee when I saw that Jason Clarke was in it. Please, gods, PLEASE let this show not suck! Jason Clarke!!!! *flails*

Also, a few Tumblr things:

:: Darren Criss weeerking the red carpet at the Golden Globes after parties! )

:: These pretty boys will be on the cover of EW next week! )
Some aspects of real life are epically nightmarish at the moment. I can't really talk about it on a public forum, but many, many thanks to all of you who have sent your love, support, prayers and good thoughts. Y'all are the best and I love you!

Despite anything else that's happening, the search for employment continues, as it must, since sadly no one seems to be willing to pay me to flit around the globe to attend Adam Lambert concerts and adding "expert skill level at glitter application" to my resume doesn't seem to have netted any leads. :( I have two interviews on Monday, so, you know, any good job gettin' mojo you can toss my way would be awesome! I'm trying to not to be too narrow in my job search, looking at possibilities out of state and even at non-traditional type ways to put my legal experience to use. So I've got some leads in places like Las Vegas and L.A. and even New Orleans that I'm following up on. I'm really working at not rushing the process, but, really, while not having an alarm go off in the wee hours is cool and all, this not-working business ain't really my thing. So, you know, keep that good job gettin' mojo flowing this way, kthnx. :D

Thankfully there's been tons of pretty damn good t.v. on my DVR to provide some distraction from the craziness swirling around me. Ahhh, escapism. *g*

White Collar: Holy smokes, I finally watched the last few episodes. )

Drop Dead Diva: You guys, this show is such awesome, fluffy brain cotton candy! It's completely ridiculous and yet somehow charming.

Sons of Anarchy: Ok, so I hadn't seen the last two episodes of the last season, because my DVR randomly decided that it had to delete them a few months back. It's been torture waiting for the DVDs to release, and then when they did I was out of town, so I couldn't catch up, which meant I couldn't watch the season opener, and, GAH! Torture! But I finally got my season 2 DVDs and I saw how last season ended and I saw the episodes that have run so far and good god DAMN this show continues to blow my mind! ) This is just some damn good television.

Hawaii Five-O: Ok, I had no idea what to expect from this and I really only watched this to get a glimpse of Norman Reedus on my television screen, but I gotta say that this pilot was really pretty damn good. It was high energy and action-packed, pulling me in from the first scene and keeping me there until the end. The dynamic between the characters was crisp and and totally entertaining. And there's certainly no lack of pretty on this show. Damn. I would tune in again for the pretty alone. This one's totally earned a spot on my DVR this season.

I'm still woefully behind on Leverage, Friday Night Lights and Supernatural (I still haven't finished with season 5 -- I am in NOT ready for a sixth season!). But, I also have plenty that I could use distracting from, so hopefully I'll get caught up soon.

Is there any new t.v. that y'all are watching? What are you loving right now? Distract me with awesome t.v., people! :D

♦ This weekend I'm off to San Diego for my cousin's wedding. I can always count on this particular branch of the family to throw one hell of a party when they marry off one of their daughters. So while I'm glad she's happy and all (blah, blah, blah) what I'm really looking forward to is (1) the opportunity to break out some fabulous formal wear and (2) the open bar!!! *g*

♦ In 8 days I will embark on my Glamtastic Vacation of Glittery Awesomeness!!! 3 cities, 4 Glam Nation shows, and 8 fantabulous days filled with several of my most bestest friends and as many damn good times as we can pack into a vacation!!! I cannot wait!

♦ I got a new camera for the trip! While I love my camera with the magical zoom lens, it's a bit unwieldy in crowded spaces like concerts. So I got a tiny camera that fits into the palm of my hand! Or my pocket! It's so small and shiny! )

What is the key to wearing black tie well? Go commando underneath. It adds an air of mystery. Oh, Matt Bomer. I do love you so! I also love Neal a lot. And Peter. And Mozzie. I miss Elizabeth though. There needs to be more Smokin' Hot Mrs. Suit in my White Collar. But, overall, this show entertains me immensely! *loves*

♦ Speaking of immensely entertaining: Kurt Warner is going to dance in the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars!!! *laughs and laughs* Oh, Kurt. Also, apparently you can't put Baby in a corner anymore. *g* I'm kinda looking forward to this show now!

♦ I'm again walking in the AIDS Walk Phoenix on October 3rd. I realize that times are tough out there, but any contribution, no matter the amount, really does make a difference. If it's your will, you can donate to my AIDS Walk efforts here.

Pretty! And sparkly! )
This aptly summarizes just how freakin' hot it's been around here this week. (Link and laughs courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] without_me.) It also cracks me up. Probably because I'm currently sitting in my air conditioned office. As soon as I need to go outside, "featherless and golden brown and delicious" will cease to be amusing. Because NOTHING is amusing when it's approximately 10 degrees hotter than the ambient temperature of HELL. *melts. grumpily*

Speaking of NOT amusing: my laptop is still in ICU, which is, well no fun at all. My Computer Guy hasn't pronounced it dead yet, so I suppose there's still hope, but I'm getting really damn tired of not having my computer. *grumps some more*

But I do have some fic recs for y'all, which IS fun! *g*

White Collar
Time is of the Essence by [livejournal.com profile] mistresscurvy
Neal/Elizabeth/Peter || NC-17 || ~4,000 words
Established D/s relationship. Neal is late. Peter is not pleased. Elizabeth just wants to get on with it.
She absolutely nails the characterizations, and, dear heavens, people, this is just smoldering hot!

Adam Lambert
Practice Makes Perfect and Hard But Not Complicated by [livejournal.com profile] rivers_bend
Adam/Tommy || Teen & NC-17, respectively
Tour Fic: Adam and Tommy "practice" their stage-gay.

To Be Adorned by [livejournal.com profile] bexless
Adam/Brad || NC-17 || ~ 3,500 words
Adam recently got his nipples pierced. No really he did and I'm not even going to apologize for knowing that. Owning my shame, here, people. *g* Anyway, Adam. Nipples. Pierced. Add Brad and you know the result will be ridiculously hot, right?

Happy Friday!!!
The betterness continues, which is exceedingly happy-making because I was quite done with feeling the like undiluted misery. It's also happy-making because it means that I will be taking my measurably less-sick self over to Mill Avenue after work to catch The Daylights show!!! Exciting indeed!

I know I'm late with the flaily-ness, but OMG WHITE COLLAR!!!!!!!! The season finale was so good! Neal and Peter and Elizabeth continue to be made of so much awesomeness, I can hardly take it! And, GAH, that last scene KILLED me! Oh, boys! *loves and loves* I'm so far behind on life, do we know if it's been renewed for a second season? Please someone tell me there will be more Neal and Peter and Elizabeth in my future!!!

Speaking of things which are awesome, have y'all seen these smokin' hot pics of Alexander Skarsgard in the L.A. Times Magazine??? Jfc. How is it possible that he seems to just get hotter and hotter??? Eventually you'd think that he'd max out the sexiness quotient, but that day has obviously not arrived.

Before I get back to my seemingly endless To Do list, let's talk about baseball for a minute. First the good: it is fantastic to see that Conor Jackson is back and looking healthy and strong again, after going down hard almost all last season with a nasty case of Valley Fever. I missed his hotass self on the field and I'm very happy that he's back! Also of the good, my bb Chris Snyder hit a home run in today's game! He's going to have to battle for game time, so this makes me more happy than it probably would if we didn't have an idiot for a manager who doesn't seem to understand the importance of a smart defensive catcher. Annnnyway. Yay, Chris! :) Of the not so good: Brandon Webb. He's likely to start the season on the DL. This is very much No Bueno! Been there, done that, had the craptastic season to prove it. We do not a repeat, thankyouverymuch. So frustrating! Especially since it seems to be more of mental thing at this point rather than a physical impairment. Dear Brandon, please to be getting your shit together. Sooner rather than later would be most helpful.

Alrighty then. Aren't y'all glad baseball is back??? Yeah, I knew you missed my baseball related ramblings. *g*
Today has been gloriously slothful and it's exactly what I needed after what was an insane week. What IS my life, though, that sleeping in on a Saturday apparently now means sleeping until 7:30??? Those that know me know full well how NOT DOWN I am with that situation!

Whatever. Getting up that early meant I had a few blissful hours of quiet in my house and was able to enjoy my coffee in peace, so I really shouldn't complain. Besides that so far my day has consisted of catching up on White Collar (OMG Neal and Peter bickering like an old married couple makes my life!!!) and working my way through the vids from last night's New York concert with Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta. Adam rocked the fuck out! He was full out glam rocker ala Zodiac days and I really hope he brings that shit to his Fantasy Springs show! Seriously, just LOOK at THIS! This is the Adam Lambert I want to see on stage!

Speaking of Adam and his band totally killing it, check out this YouTube vid of the band shredding the hell outa some Pantera at rehearsals last week. Monte is a fucking GOD on that guitar!

Jfc. It NEEDS to be February 27th NOW!!!!!!!!

In the meantime, whataya say to some AMAZING Adam/Tommy fic to hold us over? Yeah, I thought so. *g* I've been meaning to link to this all week, but my week was just too damn crazy for all the truly important things like LJ and Adam/Tommy fic! So sad. But that, apparently, are what slothful Saturdays are for!

So, anyway, the ever awesome [livejournal.com profile] linaerys wrote me a lovely, slow-build Adam/Tommy fic for the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti effort: Come On, Walk For Me (Adam/Tommy, NC-17). I love the way she writes Tommy; the slow build to the sex makes it extra hot; it's just perfection! Thank you, bb!

What else? Oh, yeah, I discovered today that somehow the last 3 episodes of Sons of Anarchy that I had yet to watch got erased from my DVR. I am NOT amused! Do I seriously have to wait until the DVDs come out now???? Not on, Universe. Not on at all.

So, I think I'm going to go do some more catching up on my t.v. shows and I might even muster up the energy to give myself a manicure, but I think that'll be the extent of my productivity today. A very exciting Saturday, indeed! What's up with y'all today?
What's crazier than "manic"? Fucking insane? Yeah, that's a hell of a lot more accurate. Jeezus, this day was nuts. But on the plus side, the new attorney that I'm training in the criminal defense side of things is really impressing me -- he hustles, retains a lot of information, and asks really good questions. All of which sparks a glimmer of hope deep in my soul that one day soon I won't be as buried on that half of my practice.

So, enough of my whininess, let's talk about happier things. Like how the Saints have made it to the Super Bowl!!!!!!! Dear gods that game was insane! What a nail-biter! I was so glad to see the Saints pull out the win though. And I'm thrilled that Jeremy Shockey will have the opportunity to actually play in the big game and earn that ring the way I'm sure he wishes he could have two years ago. He looked SO happy! And it was just awesome to see the franchise and the city get that moment! Geaux Saints!

Also definitely in the happy column: White Collar!!!!!!!!! Eeee!!! I was about four episodes behind, but I finally got caught up this weekend and OH MY HEART!!! Can Neal and Peter BE any more adorable together??? *heart eyes* And how kick awesome is Elizabeth??? Very. She is VERY kick awesome! Seriously, THIS SHOW FILLS ME WITH SUCH GLEE!!!

Future happiness: I won three [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti auctions. Which means that there will soon be delicious fic (possibly, maybe of the Adam/Tommy variety *twirls*) from [livejournal.com profile] linaerys, [livejournal.com profile] janescott and [livejournal.com profile] ruby_fruit!!! And I get to blame it all on philanthropy! Win/Win!!!

(Hmmm...I don't seem to have a White Collar icon. I really need to correct this. In the meantime I'll use an Adam/Tommy icon in anticipation of all those awesome fics. *g*)

weekender

Jan. 17th, 2010 07:56 pm
I was going to write a whole post on my weekend, which, by the way, does NOT consist of three days off of work. *weeps*

But, really, my entire weekend consisted of football. No, really, that's it. My Cardinals lost spectacularly to the Saints on Saturday. Which, really, based on how they played this weekend, and even last week, they did not deserve to be playing any more post-season football. I still, however, would have preferred an actual game as opposed to the trouncing they got. On the plus side, there was a whole lot of pretty on my screen on Saturday! *bites lip* In any event, now that my boys are out, I'm fully expecting the Saints to go all the way. And I really wanted the Chargers to win today, because I thought Phillip Rivers would be a much better match against Peyton Manning. And, dammit, someone needs to make sure I have a Manning-free Super Bowl. Now the job falls to little Mark Sanchez, whose mustache looks ridiculous when he's wearing his helmet and you can't see the scruffy beard that goes with it. My Manning-free Super Bowl hopes are in the hands of a rookie with bad facial hair, who doesn't seem to remember that he really is pretty damn good until the second half of a game. This does not bode well. *shakes head*

Ahem. So, yeah. Most of you don't give a damn about any of that, right? Let me make it up to you with this ADORABLE White Collar vid. If I weren't already sold on the awesomeness of this show, this vid would have my watching in a heartbeat!

*loves*
I'm pretty sure I reached my quota of crazy sometime Monday afternoon, and somehow the crazy keeps coming. *shakes head* I've been working insane hours and just managing to keep my head above water, but I think I've talked The Boss into hiring another law clerk and a litigation paralegal more minions, so hopefully I'll be able to dig myself out sometime before the new year!

In other craziness, my brother, sister in law, and the girls will be moving in with me and my mom next week. They just got word that the short sale on their house went through and they need to be out of their house by the first of December. Their options are limited, so it looks as if they'll be living here for a while. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I can help them out, and I love my nieces like nothing else, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go slightly out of my mind with so many people in the same space.

In better news, dance continues to be made of pure awesomeness. We're choreographing a killer swing to Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment. It's insane, but I'm having so much fun with it! I also managed to get back on track with the trainer. He righteously kicked my ass on Saturday. I hurt like hell the next day. It was awesome. *g*

I also finally managed to get caught up with Sons of Anarchy this past weekend. Holy hell. That show rocks so hard. Gemma, Clay, Tara, and Jax KILED ME DED in that last scene. All of them are just so awesomely fucked up and complicated, and yet there's something in all of them that I just can't help but love!

White Collar rocks pretty hard too. How much do I love Neal and Peter? Lots. Lots and lots. ♥

I am, however, still woefully behind on Supernatural with very little motivation to get caught up. *shrugs*

So, due to aforementioned craziness, I feel completely disconnected from everything and everyone. So talk to me people! What's up? *g*
It felt wonderful to get back to the dance studio last night. It's amazing that I can still retain any muscle memory after a year, but, while not sharp, it wasn't bad. And I always have such a blast with my instructor, Josh. He cracks me up! Which, I think is his sneaky strategy to get me out of my head when I'm dancing. Whatever. It works.

And remember I was saying that dancing is a great way for me to deal with all my relationship issues? This is an example of what I mean: Josh was super excited to see me back in the studio and immediately starts going on about a competition in February that he would really like for us to enter, and just like that, a wave of NOOOO!!! ACK COMMITMENT! issues slams me upside the head! I will agree to dance this dance with you, and maybe even the next one, but no way am I gong to agree to still be dancing with you four months from now! *laughs* My reaction was so immediate and so obvious that it even cracked me up! And even though I could laugh at myself, there was no way I was going to commit to prepping for a dance competition next spring. Commitment issues. I haz them. So, yeah, um, ok. I'll be working on that one. *g*

Enough about my issues, let's talk about pretty boys kissing, shall we? *g* I finally saw the pictures of Matthew Bomer kissing his boyfriend and they are made of sunshine and rainbows and all things happy making!

No, really. They are! )

Mmmm. So pretty! And just another reason why everyone should be watching White Collar! *beams*

In other happy making news, did y'all watch the Phillies tap dance all over the Yankees last night? It was good times! Cliff Lee was freakin' insane! Just brilliant. Seven games would be awesome, but I won't complain if the Phillies decide to take care of this thing sooner rather than later. Just sayin'. *g*

in brief

Oct. 24th, 2009 12:18 pm
:: I'm in L.A. for the weekend and thoroughly enjoying hanging out with my girls! Last night was a quiet and relaxing night in at [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva's, with a yummy dinner courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] azewewish's awesome culinary skills, plenty of wine, amazing company, and the happy discovery of what is sure to be a new television obsession, White Collar. In all, a most excellent evening!

:: I finally managed to snag tickets for Lady Gaga's L.A. show in December! \o/ I'm not sure why, by that entire process was a huge clusterfuck. After a useless single ticket presale, wrong information up on Ticketmaster, hours spent trying to process a purchase premised on said wrong information, several frustrating calls to customer service, and learning that, despite said ticketing fuck ups, the show managed to sell out in less than a day, I was able to find what I hope are good seats in the 6th row from a third-party vendor. Go me! I am SO looking forward to this show and rocking out with [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_!!!

:: Today has thus far been completely chill, with painting my nails being the most ambitious thing that I have accomplished. Later today there will be some shopping for costume accoutrements while hanging, again, with the awesomest of women! And tonight's plans include tickets to see "Naked Men Singing." I'm told that the show is exactly as advertised: naked men, singing. What's not to like about this premise???

In sum: good times are being had! Hope y'all are having equally fantastic weekends!
