I spent most of Saturday and Sunday selling all the extraneous stuff in my life to strangers, otherwise known as a garage sale. And, the lesson learned, from that experience? It's a hell of a lot of work to sell your crap to strangers, so next time I'm donating it all and saving myself the complete exhaustion and regaining those 2 days of my life! But, on the bright side, I did get rid of a whole hell of a lot stuff. So there's that.

This weekend I also managed to get caught up with some of my shows. Hawaii Five-O is still ridiculously happy-making. Talk about eye-candy, man. Everything and everyone on that show is just so damn pretty! I'm still loving Steve and Danny's chemistry and I love that the show is giving us more layers to Kono's and Chin Ho's characters. And I mentioned the pretty, right? Yeah, just a lot of pretty happening there.

The A-List New York continues to be my guilty pleasure, only, you know, really without the guilt. These boys are ridiculous and fabulous and such bitchy drama queens! They are HIGHLY entertaining! And I recently heard that LOGO was going to start casting for an A-List L.A.!!! How fabulous would that be? And how much would I love to see Cheeks in something like that?!!! Please, Universe, make that happen! *prays*

And, seriously, I have no words for how much Sons of Anarchy continues to just blow me away! That show!!! *loves and loves*

Other than selling my stuff to strangers and catching up on my DVR'd shows, I also spent a good part of yesterday watching football, and cringing at the complete mess that is the Cardinals football team, and just shaking my head at that crazy finish in the Jags/Texans game, and staring at Mike Tomlin being all intense and hot on the Steelers' sideline, and thoroughly enjoying Tom Brady's ridiculously long hair and scruffy look, and thinking that he should really get pissed and yell more often because goddamn his already high quotient of hotness increases exponentially when that happens.

So, now that the weekend is over and we're doing this whole Monday thing again, how 'bout a happy list to start this week off right? Yeah, that sounds like the thing.

[livejournal.com profile] wendy has put together a thoroughly awesome mix of self-empowerment songs, songs of the "I am amazing just the way I am variety." Good music, great message!

♥ In about an hour and a half, I get to have lunch with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz before she flies off to far away corners of the world again. Tacos! And tequila! And awesome friends! \o/

♥ There is some fantastic live music and time with awesome friends to look forward to this week with Bruno Mars on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck and Jerrod Niemann on Sunday with [livejournal.com profile] ladymairwen! Both are sure to be good times!

Ok, now it's your turn! What's happy-making in your world today? *chin hands*

ETA: OMG!!! How did I forget to mention this! Sutan Amrul, Adam's insanely talented make-up artist, has been cast as a contestant in season 3 of RuPual's Drag Race!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAJA IS FABULOSITY PERSONIFIED!!!!! January 24th! *marks calendar*
I wanna talk t.v., but first: I GOT TICKETS TO SEE ADAM IN L.A. IN DECEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last Glam Nation show of the tour! In L.A.! With mah girls! So much fabulosity!!! *flails*

Ahem. Ok. So, t.v.

First, Sons of Anarchy got tapped for a fourth season!!! More wickedly hot, totally fucked up dudes on motorcycles!!! More badass, morally ambiguous chicks!!! This makes me exceedingly happy!

Second, is anyone else watching LOGO's The A-List New York? It premiered this week and it's been described as the Gay Housewives of New York. While I don't normally watch those types of reality shows, I love Mike Ruiz's work, so I decided to check it out to see more of him. So glad I did! It was both fabulous and ridiculous! Also, I highly approve of their propensity to run around shirtless! And to have naked!times in the hot tub! Hot New York gay boys! What's not to love about that??? *g*

Third, GLEE. Lately my twitter feed and flist has been full of "OMG I hate this character so much!" and "that character is a douche!" and "this other character is SO annoying!" Or some other such version of the "Glee sucketh" song. And, I'm just wondering, WHY??? Isn't the entire point of the show that all of these characters are flawed and fucked up and plain unlikeable in some way? Um, pretty much the same way we ALL were in high school? And isn't what makes this show great is that there are delightful flashes of humanity despite all the flaws? And aren't those moments made even more brilliant because the characters are so imperfect? I know this is why I love the show. You know, other than the awesomely cheesy and fabulous cover songs. So, um, am I missing something? *confused*

Ok, I think that was all I had to say about t.v. for now. Basically: More SoA, yay! The A-List is ridiculously fab - y'all should watch! And, where's the Glee love??? So, yeah, if you want, you can come and talk to me about these things and I'll probably have more words to say about them! *g*

Also, um, Braves, WTF was that? No, really. WTAF?
Some aspects of real life are epically nightmarish at the moment. I can't really talk about it on a public forum, but many, many thanks to all of you who have sent your love, support, prayers and good thoughts. Y'all are the best and I love you!

Despite anything else that's happening, the search for employment continues, as it must, since sadly no one seems to be willing to pay me to flit around the globe to attend Adam Lambert concerts and adding "expert skill level at glitter application" to my resume doesn't seem to have netted any leads. :( I have two interviews on Monday, so, you know, any good job gettin' mojo you can toss my way would be awesome! I'm trying to not to be too narrow in my job search, looking at possibilities out of state and even at non-traditional type ways to put my legal experience to use. So I've got some leads in places like Las Vegas and L.A. and even New Orleans that I'm following up on. I'm really working at not rushing the process, but, really, while not having an alarm go off in the wee hours is cool and all, this not-working business ain't really my thing. So, you know, keep that good job gettin' mojo flowing this way, kthnx. :D

Thankfully there's been tons of pretty damn good t.v. on my DVR to provide some distraction from the craziness swirling around me. Ahhh, escapism. *g*

White Collar: Holy smokes, I finally watched the last few episodes. )

Drop Dead Diva: You guys, this show is such awesome, fluffy brain cotton candy! It's completely ridiculous and yet somehow charming.

Sons of Anarchy: Ok, so I hadn't seen the last two episodes of the last season, because my DVR randomly decided that it had to delete them a few months back. It's been torture waiting for the DVDs to release, and then when they did I was out of town, so I couldn't catch up, which meant I couldn't watch the season opener, and, GAH! Torture! But I finally got my season 2 DVDs and I saw how last season ended and I saw the episodes that have run so far and good god DAMN this show continues to blow my mind! ) This is just some damn good television.

Hawaii Five-O: Ok, I had no idea what to expect from this and I really only watched this to get a glimpse of Norman Reedus on my television screen, but I gotta say that this pilot was really pretty damn good. It was high energy and action-packed, pulling me in from the first scene and keeping me there until the end. The dynamic between the characters was crisp and and totally entertaining. And there's certainly no lack of pretty on this show. Damn. I would tune in again for the pretty alone. This one's totally earned a spot on my DVR this season.

I'm still woefully behind on Leverage, Friday Night Lights and Supernatural (I still haven't finished with season 5 -- I am in NOT ready for a sixth season!). But, I also have plenty that I could use distracting from, so hopefully I'll get caught up soon.

Is there any new t.v. that y'all are watching? What are you loving right now? Distract me with awesome t.v., people! :D
If it weren't for the lack of fire and brimstone, I'd swear I was living in hell. You know, if I believed in hell. Seriously, though, it's 111 degrees outside. That's downright inhospitable. I've been drinking water all day and no matter how much I drink I can't seem to stay hydrated. I'm a parched, sweaty, irritable mess right now. :/ But, on the plus side, I did escape the office early today for a dentist appointment and now I'm home, so at least I can be a parched, sweaty, irritable mess while in my pajamas instead of a suit!

So, Emmy nominations? I was happy to see Glee get so many nods, and I was thrilled to see Kyle Chandler's and Connie Britton's sheer awesomeness finally acknowledged, but what the hell is with Friday Night Lights not getting the nomination for best drama? And True Blood did? Really??? And a big ol' NADA for Sons of Anarchy or Katie Segal??? *boggles* But, plus side! YAY Kyle and Connie and Glee!!!!!

A definite plus for today was the ruling by a federal judge in Massachusetts finding that the federal definition of marriage as only between a man and a woman, as codified in the Defense of Marriage Act, is unconstitutional. The irony is that this decision is from a Nixon appointed judge. And he based his ruling on federalism grounds, finding that DOMA encroaches on the state's right to determine marriage. As my former Ninth Circuit co-clerk put it: I love it when federalism turns around and bites Christian Conservatives in the ass! :D

Also: 48 hours in the Countdown to Glam!!!! PLUS! PLUS! PLUS!!!!!! *g*

Ok, I'm going to go drink more water and sit in front of a fan. I hope y'all are keeping cool today!
Today has been gloriously slothful and it's exactly what I needed after what was an insane week. What IS my life, though, that sleeping in on a Saturday apparently now means sleeping until 7:30??? Those that know me know full well how NOT DOWN I am with that situation!

Whatever. Getting up that early meant I had a few blissful hours of quiet in my house and was able to enjoy my coffee in peace, so I really shouldn't complain. Besides that so far my day has consisted of catching up on White Collar (OMG Neal and Peter bickering like an old married couple makes my life!!!) and working my way through the vids from last night's New York concert with Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta. Adam rocked the fuck out! He was full out glam rocker ala Zodiac days and I really hope he brings that shit to his Fantasy Springs show! Seriously, just LOOK at THIS! This is the Adam Lambert I want to see on stage!

Speaking of Adam and his band totally killing it, check out this YouTube vid of the band shredding the hell outa some Pantera at rehearsals last week. Monte is a fucking GOD on that guitar!

Jfc. It NEEDS to be February 27th NOW!!!!!!!!

In the meantime, whataya say to some AMAZING Adam/Tommy fic to hold us over? Yeah, I thought so. *g* I've been meaning to link to this all week, but my week was just too damn crazy for all the truly important things like LJ and Adam/Tommy fic! So sad. But that, apparently, are what slothful Saturdays are for!

So, anyway, the ever awesome [livejournal.com profile] linaerys wrote me a lovely, slow-build Adam/Tommy fic for the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti effort: Come On, Walk For Me (Adam/Tommy, NC-17). I love the way she writes Tommy; the slow build to the sex makes it extra hot; it's just perfection! Thank you, bb!

What else? Oh, yeah, I discovered today that somehow the last 3 episodes of Sons of Anarchy that I had yet to watch got erased from my DVR. I am NOT amused! Do I seriously have to wait until the DVDs come out now???? Not on, Universe. Not on at all.

So, I think I'm going to go do some more catching up on my t.v. shows and I might even muster up the energy to give myself a manicure, but I think that'll be the extent of my productivity today. A very exciting Saturday, indeed! What's up with y'all today?
I'm pretty sure I reached my quota of crazy sometime Monday afternoon, and somehow the crazy keeps coming. *shakes head* I've been working insane hours and just managing to keep my head above water, but I think I've talked The Boss into hiring another law clerk and a litigation paralegal more minions, so hopefully I'll be able to dig myself out sometime before the new year!

In other craziness, my brother, sister in law, and the girls will be moving in with me and my mom next week. They just got word that the short sale on their house went through and they need to be out of their house by the first of December. Their options are limited, so it looks as if they'll be living here for a while. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I can help them out, and I love my nieces like nothing else, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go slightly out of my mind with so many people in the same space.

In better news, dance continues to be made of pure awesomeness. We're choreographing a killer swing to Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment. It's insane, but I'm having so much fun with it! I also managed to get back on track with the trainer. He righteously kicked my ass on Saturday. I hurt like hell the next day. It was awesome. *g*

I also finally managed to get caught up with Sons of Anarchy this past weekend. Holy hell. That show rocks so hard. Gemma, Clay, Tara, and Jax KILED ME DED in that last scene. All of them are just so awesomely fucked up and complicated, and yet there's something in all of them that I just can't help but love!

White Collar rocks pretty hard too. How much do I love Neal and Peter? Lots. Lots and lots. ♥

I am, however, still woefully behind on Supernatural with very little motivation to get caught up. *shrugs*

So, due to aforementioned craziness, I feel completely disconnected from everything and everyone. So talk to me people! What's up? *g*
"Grabbing life by the disco balls" -- life wisdom as heard on "Drop Dead Diva." I love it! And while I think that's an excellent life motto, it is perhaps a bit ambitious for this week. Instead maybe I'll aim for making my way out of the narcotics haze I've been in for the past several days and doing something more ambitious with my day than an afternoon nap. I'm definitely doing better. The pain has been downgraded to an annoying soreness and continued exhaustion. Dear gods, I slept so much this weekend! I'm home again today, just because I'm trying not to push it, but I'll likely be back in the office tomorrow.

Other than sleep, I did manage to get caught up with all the t.v. on my DVR. Yay! Sons of Anarchy continues to blow me away. I am disappointed all over again that NBC pulled the plug on Kings. I continue to be amused by (and find life inspiration in *g*) Drop Dead Diva. And I am enjoying Supernatural (although I don't seem to have much to say about it at the moment other than, Ellen is a fierce, sexy bitch!).

And since I'm still officially convalescing at home, I'm so glad that the Idols continue to provide such amusement! )

ETA: In my infinite wisdom, I somehow managed to delete the original entry. *facepalm* So if you commented and I seemingly ignore you, that's why.
I have a deposition tomorrow that I really should be preparing for, but I'm completely lacking in anything even resembling motivation at the moment. So, naturally, I'm wasting time online instead. *g*

Let's talk t.v., shall we? Who watched the Sons of Anarchy premier last night? HOLY FUCK!!! I'm not even cutting for spoilers, because that's basically my level of coherency on the subject right now. And my incoherent flailing about this show should not come as a surprise to anyone. But, DAMN. Did they ever bring it! And, seriously, Katy Segal is a fierce bitch. She blew me away. Also, ok, ok, I'll cut for this... ) The show was just fucking brilliant!

So, um, Glee? I missed the pilot thingy last season, but it would have been impossible to miss the fannish flailing over this show on my flist. (Hee! Bonus alliteration points!) I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and guess that y'all like it? And that perhaps you'd recommend it being granted DVR status? That's tonight, right? I forgot to program it this morning, so I hope I get home on time. Although, if my current levels of procrastination are any indication, that might not happen. :\

Supernatural on Thursday. You'll notice the absence of exclamatory punctuation. I don't know, man. I've somehow lost misplaced my SPN glee. *shrugs* It's not even that I didn't enjoy last season, because I did. And I'm certainly planning on watching this season, and I'm even quite sure that I'll enjoy it, but I just don't feel the same levels of anticipation and investment that have before. I mean, I haven't even bought the Season 4 DVDs yet!!! That was unheard of the past three years! Maybe this will change once the new season is underway. Or maybe it's time for an amicable fannish divorce. Who knows. We'll see what's what after Thursday.

What else am I supposed to be watching this season??? [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah has gotten me hooked on Drop Dead Diva and I remember thinking that Eastwick looked interesting in a completely cheestastic sort of way. I heard a promo for Vampire Diaries today that reminded me that since I gave up on True Blood and dropped my HBO subscription, I don't currently have any vampires on my television repertoire. Should I change that? What's what, peoples???
:: I bought gas today for under $2 ($1.99 a gallon, to be precise). It was very exciting!!!

:: I have tickets to see Coldplay next Wednesday, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to go. It's on the other side of the world in Glendale. Plus it's the night before Thanksgiving and I'm sure I'll have tons of stuff to do. On the other hand, it's Coldplay. I'm torn.

:: I continue to love Sons of Anarchy. This week's episode blew me away! ) This show just brings it every week, and I can't wait to see what they do with next week's season finale.

:: As for Supernatural... )In short, I'm still really enjoying season 4 and I'm going to miss the Winchester boys and Castiel, The Hotass Angel of the Lord. *clings*

:: Back in March during South by Southwest, a local music blogger recommended a new (or at least new to me) musician who she had heard play in Austin. I bookmarked his information, but it wasn't until today that I sat down to listen to his music. And I LOVED IT! His name is Ford Turrell, and he's fantastic. He's got this great smokey voice, lyrics that resonate, and just a real organic quality to his music.

Here are a few of my favorite tracks from his debut CD:
- Let You Down
- Ghost of Goodbye
- Roll Away the Stone

And, if you like what you heard, the full CD: Ford Turrell (.zip file, 65MB).

:: So. The weekend. What are y'all doing? I wanna hear all about your fabulous weekend plans!!!
I went to Ikea this afternoon and managed to find the perfect home office work space for under $100! \o/ Which means that tomorrow I can start organizing my life and finding my work-zen again! I am highly pleased about the prospect of having something other than moving boxes and the sofa from which to get my work done!

Also, nothing is funnier than a six year old boy loudly declaring to his parent's about their latest shopping decision, "Me and my ferret do not agree!" Grammar issues aside, it was the funniest damn thing I heard all day. And, the absence of any actual ferret aside, the borrowed expression has proved to be applicable in an unimaginable number of situations. *laughs*

To add to the hilarity of the Ikea shopping experience, there was, for reasons that still escape me, a couple ballroom dancing in the middle of the store. Yeah. I just don't even know. They seemed to have planned the dancing. You know, as opposed to just being moved in the moment to rumba! Because they had an iPod and speakers at the ready. And they had moved some chairs to clear a dancing space. And the lady was wearing sparkly, three-inch dancing shoes. And they were doing the tango!!! In the middle of Ikea!!! *laughs*

Anyway, surreal shopping experiences aside, the really important news on this Saturday is that I saw Quantum of Solace last night and it was FANTASTIC!!! I won't get into spoilery details; I'll just say that, while it didn't have the deeply resonating emotional impact that Casino Royale did for me, it was, none the less, completely emotionally satisfying. In addition to striking the right emotional chords, it was A COMPLETELY KICK ASS BOND FLICK! Incredible fight scenes, awesome car chases, and enough intrigue to spin you 'round in circles. Also, because this IS important, Daniel Craig is sex on two legs!

I also really loved the title track and I thought y'all might too: Another Way To Die by Jack White and Alicia Keyes. (ETA: New download link with the full version of the song. I have no idea what happened the first time. *facepalm*)

Now me and this bottle of wine are going to resume catching up on The Sarah Conor Chronicles, Sons of Anarchy, and maybe even some Brotherhood!!!
And, apparently, I like my gum in fruity flavors! In other words, I just watched the first two episodes of Legend of the Seeker and I loved every cheesetastic minute of it! *g*

Legend of the Seeker )

It's definitely the bubble gum of fantasy adventure shows -- there's nothing particularly original about this hero's journey, but it's pretty to watch and, most importantly, highly entertaining! I approve! \o/

I also finally got caught up on Sons of Anarchy. Damn. I'm loving this show so much! Some spoilery talk about SoA. )

But, more than anything, I LOVE GEMMA!!! She is such a bad ass! Strong, and fierce, and loyal, and still incredibly fucked up and meddling. She's awesome! *loves*

In non-tv related ramblings, I'm sure that some day the sheer awesomeness of having Barack Obama as our next President might stop making my giddy with joy, but today is not that day.

That is why I bring you spontaneous anthem singing FTW! )

*chokes up* I swear, there hasn't been a day since Tuesday that I haven't cried happy tears.

Also, lots of heart-warmingly awesome pictures of the Obama family on election night.

And in a fit of optimism, I contacted my Congressman to beg respectfully ask for inauguration tickets. (I considered asking my Senator instead, but decided that would be like cruelly rubbing salt in an open wound. Amusing, indeed, but I'm sure the irony would be lost on the staffer holding the tickets.) The chances of actually getting any such tickets are about the same for me winning the lottery, but you can't win if you don't play, right? *hopeful*
Well, I don't have my tat yet, but I did meet with the artist and he's working up a couple of sketches. He thinks he can have them done for me tomorrow or Tuesday, so I should be able to get it done this week. Exciting!

While I waited to speak with the artist last night, I watched him work on this guy who had an amazing tattoo outlined on his chest that they were coloring in yesterday. Hot. Both the guy and the tat. He reminded me of a slightly younger Chad Michael Murray. He had another tattoo up the side of his torso, a rope with knots spaced through it. It was pretty awesome.

Speaking of awesome. Have you read this conversation between Barack Obama and Jed Bartlet? Hilarious!

Anyway. I'm enjoying my Sunday, watching my D'backs take on the Rockies. They finally broke that on-the-road losing streak and they're looking really good today with good stuff from Dan Haren and an actual offensive game. Which, you know, is kinda helpful in winning baseball games. *g*

Speaking of Sunday sports: Patriots defense, WTF??? I'm unimpressed.

Plans for the rest of this Sunday include some house cleaning, as I got a nifty new floor sweeper that I need to break in. (I'm SO easily amused. *g*)I also need to get a workout in now that I'm not feeling like death. And I'll probably catch up on Sons of Anarchy and the Sarah Connor Chronicles a bit later. How's your Sunday?
My day can REALLY use a Happy List, so here we go:

1. This video of Aussie Grandmas performing a Sex Pistols song cracked my shit up! )

2. While we're YouTube-ing it: This video of Ellen and Portia's wedding had me tearing up. Love in all its forms will ALWAYS make the Happy List!!! )

3. I've got plans to go see Lady Antebellum tomorrow night!!! I'm ridiculously excited about seeing this group play! Don't judge. I grew up in a small, rural Arizona town -- country music is as much a part of my musical DNA as are Spanish boleros and 80's pop. I can STILL feel you judging but I don't care, it's still happeh-makin'!!! *beams*

4. My t.v. and DVR are full of new shows!!! I'm watching this week's One Tree Hill now (I ♥ Q so much! *sobs*), next up is True Blood (obviously work is NOT on this evening's agenda) and tonight there shall be Sons of Anarchy!!! Hot men on motorcylces with lickable tattoos! I definitely approve!

5. Only 43 days until NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!!!!!! *bounces* Man, I can't wait! Awesome music and N'awlins style shennanigans aside, I am MOST looking forward to time with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, and [livejournal.com profile] dellastarr. I miss my girls! *squishes*
