Thing 1: It's official. I live somewhere south of Hell. Dear gods, it's hot outside! Scorch your eyeballs, burn your skin, make you sweat like that disgusting Axe commercial and make you want to hibernate until Thanksgiving kind of hot.

Thing 2: Star Trek!!! I saw the new movie yesterday and I LOVED IT!!! It wasn't perfect (can we flesh out our villains a bit more, please???), but it was DAMN GOOD and it made me want MOAR!!! I want this reboot to be prolific! And I want to go back and re-watch TOS, and the movies, and Next Generation, and all the DS9 I missed!!! And I want Trek fic!!! Where's the fic, people??? *grabby hands* Ahem. As I was saying, I liked it. *g*

(I also note that I need some Star Trek icons. Where are they???)

Thing 3: Castle got renewed. This is good. Bones got renewed for TWO seasons. This is very good. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got axed; and Dollhouse got another season. This is not only bad, very, bad, but downright incomprehensible. As much as I wanted to like Dollhouse and have continued to "give it one more week," and even though Tahmoh Penikett's bare chest goes a long way toward making me a fan of any show that's willing to give his hotass plenty of screen time, the show continues to underwhelm me. T:SCC on the other hand, has been consistently excellent. FOX's scheduling choices continue to confound me. *shakes head*

Thing 4: I lost 2 1/2 hours of my life at court this morning waiting for the court to get it's act together so that my client could be arraigned. Neither of these things happened, and I'll have to trek out to the wilds of Apache Junction again sometime soon once the court can find the complaint that it should have had in the file this morning. The only good part of this morning was that I discovered that my client is as avid a baseball fan as I am, so we spent the better part of those 2 1/2 hours talking baseball!

T:SCC

Apr. 26th, 2009 10:13 am
I just finished getting caught up on the last four episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Holy hell. My mind is officially blown. If you've seen the season finale, come talk to me about it!!!

Relatedly, this interview with one of the show's co-producers seems to suggest that the reports of T:SCC's death are premature. Please let it be so! *crosses fingers*
1. The D'backs will host the 2011 All-Star Game!!! WooHoo!!! Home Run Derby! FanFest! Baseball! Baseball players!!! *glee* Plans are already underway to be part of the festivities. Who's joining me? *beams*

2. Significantly less gleeful: It looks as if Fox has terminated T:SCC. Not on, Fox. Seriously, not on. *glares* (By the way, I still haven't seen the past 4 episodes and likely won't have time to until next weekend. No spoilery comments, please.)

I will get around to posting job details and the pictures from last night's ball game -- just as soon as I finish watching my D'backs get their collective asses handed to them. *shakes head*
I had a great time in California this past week, but damn it's good to be home. And sleeping in my own bed is THE BEST THING EVER.

[livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, [livejournal.com profile] gingerpig, and I spent Saturday at the Getty Center. It was a gorgeous day and I loved the Getty. I'll have pictures to post later.

Then later that night, fortified with lots of alcohol, we braved the SPN convention crowd to see Steve Carlson and Jason Manns play. Man, that is truly an awkward venue for live music -- everyone is sitting in their assigned seats, no one is up dancing, and there is clearly not enough easily accessible alcohol! If I'm uncomfortable, I can't imagine how hard it must be to play to that kind of audience. But we did get up to stand over to the side during Steve's set so that we could dance and enjoy the music and try to pretend that that the awkward sitting crowd wasn't there. For the most part, it worked. *g* And, awkwardness not with standing, it was good to hear them both play, as it had been close to forever since I'd heard either one of them. And, as always, it was damn good times hanging out with my girls!

Since I was unable to sleep last night (even though I was SO tired!) I finally got caught up on Supernatural. I really liked On The Head of a Pin. More Hotass Angel of the Lord is always a good thing. *nods* And I wish I could tell you what I thought about It's a Terrible Life but the damn high def feed that I DVRed was fucked to next week and back and I only really got to see about a fourth of the episode. I am not impressed with this shit, Cox Cable!

I still have a hell of a lot of television that I'm behind on. I haven't watched any of Kings and this makes me very sad. I'm at least two episodes behind on Sarah Connor and Legend of the Seeker. And I haven't seen the finale of Battlestar. Eeek. I need another week off just to catch up on my shows!

Alas, the time off has come to an end. Now it's back to work, back to this damn job search. Grrr.

In happy real life news, though, Opening Day is only 7 days away!!! Baseball!!! I've missed you! *clings*
I saw Watchmen on Friday. *flails* ) And now I can't wait to see it again next week on an IMAX screen!

Yesterday we had a birthday party for Rhyan at the park. She was at her most adorable, loving being the center of attention. I encouraged her to smear her birthday cake all over her cute face! And she loved it! Fun times!

Today I decided to skip the spring training game as I have far too much to do around the house -- some cleaning as I'll have company next weekend (Spring Training Weekend!!!), some long over due laundry (yay for working plumbing!!!), getting my writing sample cleaned up (clerkship interview soon!!!).

I'm also catching up on some missed t.v. I just watched the last two episodes of Legend of the Seeker. Oh, Richard, and your awesome abs! Please keep taking off your shirt as often as possible! With thanks, Me.

And then there's Dollhouse. I'm still thoroughly unconvinced about this show. It's creepy. Not in a good way. And I'm not sure that even the hotness of Tahmoh Penikett can overcome the creepiness factor for me to keep watching. I'll give it one more week, but it may be getting the old DVR-axe soon.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is what I'm now getting caught up on. I thought "Some Must Watch While Some Must Sleep" was just odd. *shakes head* I'm up to Ourselves Alone )

So, what are y'all doing on this Sunday afternoon? *curious*
It was an absolutely gorgeous day, sunny and warm and PERFECT, so I decided to enjoy the outside awesomeness and head out to the Desert Botanical Garden for the Chihuly: The Nature of Glass exhibit. It was AMAZING! Such brilliant colors and fantastical shapes. It was the coolest thing to be walking along in the desert, with it's muted greens and grays, and then to suddenly spot a brilliant shot of color among the cactus. It was just beautiful.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the pretty glass sculptures. )

And one of me getting sunburned! )

So after enjoying the pretty glass, I spent the rest of the day with the Jonas Brothers. *facepalm* I had promised my niece, Rianna, that I'd take her and her cousins to see the movie. So, like the awesome aunt that I am, I did. Let me just say that I get major Tía brownie points for sitting through almost 2 hours of the Jonas brothers in 3-D. The only way that those two hours could have been even mildly enjoyable NOT ANNOYING is with a hell of a lot of alcohol in my system. Sadly, all I had available to me was a diet Coke and some Red Vines. Caffeine and sugar were not helpful to the situation! The girls loved it though and I obviously lived to tell the tale, so all turned out well in the end.

Now I'm catching up on some t.v.: Sarah Connor Chronicles, what the hell was that? Friday Night Lights, thank you for continuing to be made of all that is awesome! Dollhouse, hm, I didn't hate you as much this week as I did the last two weeks; perhaps I'll not delete you from my DVR just yet. Leverage, I miss you already - please come back to me soon!!!
1. I managed to make it through the day and NOT stab my client! No, really, this was an ACCOMPLISHMENT! But, even better, was the TWO HOUR NAP I took when I got home!!!

2. Light rail employees were giving out Valentine's day cards and chocolate this morning as we piled on the train for the morning commute. Admittedly, the chocolate kiss wasn't the most nutritious of breakfasts, but it made me SMILE!

3. Today I'm sore from my shoulder blades to my ass and quads, and while soreness isn't normally happy-making, it makes the list because it reminds me of the kick-ass workout I had yesterday with the new Trainer!Boy. So many squats! And boxing! I love the boxing! It's SO cathartic to just hit something!

4. Pitchers and catchers report in 15 HOURS AND 6 MINUTES!!!! Spring training is HERE!!!!!!!!! *flails wildly* Anyone wanna plan on catching some spring training games with me?

5. Lots of awesome new t.v. tonight!!! New Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles!!! Friday Night Lights!!! And Dollhouse premiers tonight!!!

In other news, I'm glad to hear that folks are heading out to see Friday the 13th, because I'm all for supporting the boys' work, but I just don't think I can! I barely made it through My Bloody Valentine and that was with food and alcohol at the Drafthouse to distract me from the gore on the screen. I just don't DO horror flicks. So, while I wish him every success, I don't think I'm going to be contributing to that success myself. Sorry Jared! I still love you (even though I really don't like those new pictures of you -- please step away from the eyeliner)!

And, finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] dellastarr!!! ♥ I hope your day was full of things that make you happy and I hope the year ahead bring all manner of unexpected blessings your way!
Today was definitely a Monday. *glares at the craptastic day* It was a bit of a stretch to find today's happy. A bit meager, but some happy nonetheless:

:: Man, Terminator: The Sarah Conor Chronicles just continues to bring it. I can't say that I've completely wrapped my mind around tonight's episode yet, but I can say that I cannot wait until the winter hiatus is over and we get MOAR!!!

:: Jerrod Neimann posted a new song recently an it's just so typical of him, his songwriting style, his voice, that I'm loving it: I Didn't Mean to Make You Cry. Love me some country music!

Um. Yeah. That's all I've got. I'm off to bed now, as I have a trial starting tomorrow morning, so I need to be far more functional than I was today.
I went to Ikea this afternoon and managed to find the perfect home office work space for under $100! \o/ Which means that tomorrow I can start organizing my life and finding my work-zen again! I am highly pleased about the prospect of having something other than moving boxes and the sofa from which to get my work done!

Also, nothing is funnier than a six year old boy loudly declaring to his parent's about their latest shopping decision, "Me and my ferret do not agree!" Grammar issues aside, it was the funniest damn thing I heard all day. And, the absence of any actual ferret aside, the borrowed expression has proved to be applicable in an unimaginable number of situations. *laughs*

To add to the hilarity of the Ikea shopping experience, there was, for reasons that still escape me, a couple ballroom dancing in the middle of the store. Yeah. I just don't even know. They seemed to have planned the dancing. You know, as opposed to just being moved in the moment to rumba! Because they had an iPod and speakers at the ready. And they had moved some chairs to clear a dancing space. And the lady was wearing sparkly, three-inch dancing shoes. And they were doing the tango!!! In the middle of Ikea!!! *laughs*

Anyway, surreal shopping experiences aside, the really important news on this Saturday is that I saw Quantum of Solace last night and it was FANTASTIC!!! I won't get into spoilery details; I'll just say that, while it didn't have the deeply resonating emotional impact that Casino Royale did for me, it was, none the less, completely emotionally satisfying. In addition to striking the right emotional chords, it was A COMPLETELY KICK ASS BOND FLICK! Incredible fight scenes, awesome car chases, and enough intrigue to spin you 'round in circles. Also, because this IS important, Daniel Craig is sex on two legs!

I also really loved the title track and I thought y'all might too: Another Way To Die by Jack White and Alicia Keyes. (ETA: New download link with the full version of the song. I have no idea what happened the first time. *facepalm*)

Now me and this bottle of wine are going to resume catching up on The Sarah Conor Chronicles, Sons of Anarchy, and maybe even some Brotherhood!!!
1. I am loving Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles SO MUCH! I love the flash-forwards and the consistent movie tie-ins. I love John grappling with his fate. I love, love, LOVE Derek Reese! In short, I LOVE THIS SHOW! And, I really hope that the reports of its imminent demise turn out to be wrong.

2. The news that Obama's lead is widening is certainly heartening, but I'm almost afraid that this glimmer of hope will result in more complacency in the final days than we can afford to have. So I'm going to make an extra effort to do my part in the next 30 days and will be heading in to local Democratic offices on Wednesday for an afternoon of volunteer work, an effort that I hope to repeat as often as I can manage until Election Day. If you want to do something too, you can start here.

3. In case you didn't see this on MySpace, a PSA for the folks in L.A.: The Life Of Riley LIVE This Thursday for a GREAT CAUSE! )
Well, I don't have my tat yet, but I did meet with the artist and he's working up a couple of sketches. He thinks he can have them done for me tomorrow or Tuesday, so I should be able to get it done this week. Exciting!

While I waited to speak with the artist last night, I watched him work on this guy who had an amazing tattoo outlined on his chest that they were coloring in yesterday. Hot. Both the guy and the tat. He reminded me of a slightly younger Chad Michael Murray. He had another tattoo up the side of his torso, a rope with knots spaced through it. It was pretty awesome.

Speaking of awesome. Have you read this conversation between Barack Obama and Jed Bartlet? Hilarious!

Anyway. I'm enjoying my Sunday, watching my D'backs take on the Rockies. They finally broke that on-the-road losing streak and they're looking really good today with good stuff from Dan Haren and an actual offensive game. Which, you know, is kinda helpful in winning baseball games. *g*

Speaking of Sunday sports: Patriots defense, WTF??? I'm unimpressed.

Plans for the rest of this Sunday include some house cleaning, as I got a nifty new floor sweeper that I need to break in. (I'm SO easily amused. *g*)I also need to get a workout in now that I'm not feeling like death. And I'll probably catch up on Sons of Anarchy and the Sarah Connor Chronicles a bit later. How's your Sunday?
I was powerless against the allure of a mini!Metallicar and bought my Supernatural Season 3 DVDs yesterday. The 'ittle Impala is adorable!

Also, I skipped out on the boxes of files awaiting my attention in order to go the the Diamondbacks game this afternoon. It was the last afternoon game of the season. I couldn't resist! I'm obviously having a problem with will power this week. *g* The D'backs had a fantastic come from behind win in the bottom of the 9th, so it was well worth the extra work I'll have to slog through tomorrow.

So, while there's been more talk of baseball 'round these parts than almost anything else, I do realize that the Fall television season is getting underway. I know that I'll be watching Supernatural on Thursday evenings (well, I'll be DVRing it if there's baseball to watch, but I will watch it eventually *g*). I also got the Season One DVDs of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, so my plan is to get caught up this weekend and watch that on Monday nights. And thanks to Generation Kill I'm more than a little in love with Alexandar Skarsgård, so I think I'll check out True Blood. The only other show I plan on watching is Brotherhood, which doesn't start until the end of the month, and will only have eight new episodes. Is there any other great television that I shouldn't be missing out on this Fall?
Thing the First: NEW SUPERNATURAL TOMORROW!!!!!!!! *bounces* I miss the Winchester boys saving people, hunting things, and just being AWESOME! Oh, show, please to be bringing back the awesometasticness that made me love you in the first place.

Thing the Second: Friday Night Lights, Season 2, is now available on DVD!!! I've ordered mine from Amazon and I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive so that I can roll around in FNL goodness for days 'n' days. ♥

Thing the Third: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will be back for a 13-episode second season!!! And Brian Austin Green will be back as a series regular! All of which reminds me that I still need to watch the last 4 (or 5?) episodes. But Fox doesn't seem to be streaming them any longer. Anyone know where I can find downloads, or do I have to wait until the DVD comes out in August? Also, anyone have recs for SCC fic?

Thing the Fourth: I simply COULD NOT wait until the August season two DVD release for more of the Caffee brothers. So I'm currently downloading the second season of Brotherhood from iTunes!!! \o/ TOMMY!!! MICHAEL!!! Your hotass selves will soon be on my screen again!!! *joy*

Thing the Fifth: The Diamondbacks are having a great April with a 15-5 record in the first 3 1/2 weeks of the season! Go D-backs!!! Also, Doug Davis seems to be on the mend after his April 9th surgery to remove a cancerous thyroid, taking to the cage for some batting practice this week. Go Doug!!! And next week there shall be MOAR BASEBALL with [livejournal.com profile] technosage when the D-backs take on the Mets!!! Go us!!!

Thing the Sixth: Jared Padalecki in a tank top!!!!!! OMGZ, how so BURNING HOT Jared??? *bites lip*

Thing the Seventh: I'll be in Tucson this weekend to get my dose of latino culture at the International Mariachi Conference. Listening to mariachi music always makes me want to drink tequila. *shrugs* I don't even know. It's like a genetic tick that goes into hyper-drive whenever the music starts. So, you know, a whole weekend of mariachi music and the resulting tequila can get very, very interesting. *g*

That's a lot of happy-makin' things!!! *twirls*
