Three completely unrelated things.

1. I am loving Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles SO MUCH! I love the flash-forwards and the consistent movie tie-ins. I love John grappling with his fate. I love, love, LOVE Derek Reese! In short, I LOVE THIS SHOW! And, I really hope that the reports of its imminent demise turn out to be wrong.
2. The news that Obama's lead is widening is certainly heartening, but I'm almost afraid that this glimmer of hope will result in more complacency in the final days than we can afford to have. So I'm going to make an extra effort to do my part in the next 30 days and will be heading in to local Democratic offices on Wednesday for an afternoon of volunteer work, an effort that I hope to repeat as often as I can manage until Election Day. If you want to do something too, you can start here.
3. In case you didn't see this on MySpace, a PSA for the folks in L.A.:
From Riley's MySpace:
WE ARE BACK! For the first time in LA in almost 3 months, THE LIFE OF RILEY, will be playing LIVE! This Thursday at the Garter in Venice! The event will take place from 7pm-2am. With a ton of great acts! TLOR will be Headlining the event at 11pm! We are really excited to be playing this week and more importantly supporting a cause that is very close to Riley's heart.
Earlier this summer, Riley's hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, experienced the worst natural disaster in the state's history. The Flood of '08 was the most devastating flood to ever hit the area, and it demolished the entire downtown, along with surrounding neighborhoods. The city needs over $7.2 billion to recover and, with no assistance from the federal government, we've decided to help. We have joined forces with Flood of CaRe (www.floodofcare.com), a national charity organization dedicated to assisting Cedar Rapids residents and businesses in desperate need. So in true Clancey form, we're throwing a party & well, a fundraiser. Please join us for an evening of live music and comedy, MC'ed by Kirk Zipfel. The cover is $40 with drink specials and raffle prizes awarded throughout the evening. Plus, everything is TAX DEDUCTIBLE! If you are unable to attend the benefit and want to help, you can donate on the Flood of CaRe website. Please help us rebuild our beloved hometown! We hope to see you all there! On September 28, we will also launch an online auction with hundreds of incredible and one-of-a-kind items, from a Fender guitar signed by Billy Bob Thornton to a Masters pin flag signed by Zack Johnson. All proceeds will benefit the 2008 Flood Fund. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone there!
thanks for supporting not us, but a good cause!
