I have mentioned that I am just NOT a morning person, right? Well, apparently the Bossman hasn't gotten that memo, because he keeps insisting on scheduling me to do these morning radio interviews. I had to get up at the asscrack of dawn today, after a hearty 3 1/2 hours sleep, to drag myself to the radio station before heading in to the office. *whimpers* Today is going to be rough, man.

On the bright side, though, the radio interview went well. I managed to string my words together into coherent sentences, in Spanish no less, even though I was tragically under caffeinated. Go me! I now have MOAR COFFEE, an egg and ham bagel sandwich, and an exceptionally early start to my week, so life is definitely looking up!

The weekend was also lovely. On Saturday I finally made it to the dance fitness studio I've been talking about going to for months and I loved it! You gotta know that I'm going to completely jive with any place that has THIS as their mission statement: to help women discover their inherent beauty and express themselves in harmony with who they are as a fabulous, unique individual. LOVE IT! I got a membership and I will definitely be making classes there a regular part of my week.

Sunday was all about football. Man, did y'all see that Cardinals/Packers game??? It was INSANE! It was one hell of a game in the very best sense of the word, although the stress of watching it may well have shaved several years of my life. Dear gods, they were KILLING me! I'm thrilled that my boys pulled it out in the end. [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, you need to get you trash-talkin' skills sharpened up, since next week it'll be your Saints against my Cardinals! Bring it, bb! *g*
So, anyone know where the hell this week went? I've been trying to get myself organized, get a few old projects wrapped up, get a plan in place for tackling some of the other things coming up; you know, generally start the year off on the right foot. But somehow the week has been swallowed up in the craziness of just doing what it takes to barely keep on top of everything. Gah! I need another week before we get 2010 truly underway!

To add a little chaos on top of the craziness, my brother, sister-in-law, and nieces moved in this past weekend. Eventually I'm sure we'll settle into a routine and some degree of organization, but right now it's just INSANE.

Although I'll hopefully soon be too busy to be caught up in the chaos of home, as I'm planning to get back to Nia next week and will also be starting some dance fitness classes at this awesome studio that I've been wanting to try for a while. Go me!!! I'm also starting the process for joining the faculty at the University of Phoenix as an adjunct professor in their criminal justice program. I think this will be a perfect way to start building up my resume on the teaching front, while still being flexible enough not to interfere with my desire to continue having a LIFE. So, you know, win/win!!! \o/

ION, Das Tekno finally got his pictures from the Lady Gaga concert in L.A. last month up. And here's the picture of me and Das before the show! )

And, because there is never a bad time for pretty, nearly naked boys, here's Cassidy Haley's latest picture:

Goddamn the boy is pretty! This gorgeous boy is going to be gracing J's Living Room of Acoustic Awesomeness in just a few weeks! Y'all are very welcome. *g*
Earlier in the week I rearranged all my travel plans, made sure another attorney could cover my court appearances, rebooked my flight, rescheduled the rental car, in order to be in L.A. a day earlier to catch Adam Lambert's concert for the Jimmy Kimmel show. And about two and half minutes after I'd rearranged MY LIFE, ABC decided that Adam is still too gay for their network and canceled the whole thing. Bastards.

Don't even get me started about what I think of all this bullshit because for now, in an effort to control my rage, I'm focusing on the more petty annoyance of whether I change everything back or just head to L.A. a day earlier anyway. On the one hand, everything is all rearranged and I could use with getting the hell outa Dodge earlier rather than later; on the other hand, well, I'm not sure what's on the other hand other than plans now gone up in smoke. Decisions, decisions.

In other, life-rearranging kind of news, my criminal paralegal gave her notice yesterday and will be leaving next week. Egads! Who's going to run my life now??? *panics* The paralegal we're training to take her place is really good and I'm sure it'll be fine, but I hate the process of training someone new. It would be a lot easier if people just knew how to organize my life and make me happy!

I didn't intend for this post to be a bitch-fest, but since that's what it turned out to be, I feel compelled to end on a positive note. Tonight I have the dance showcase I've been working on! The last two nights it seems as if the entire routine just fell in to place. I stopped over thinking it and just let myself feel it and it's just working now! One of the other dance instructors was watching us run through it last night and suggested we have a couple of hot guys making out in the back, just to maintain the integrity of the song. *laughs* I told him I was all on board with that plan, to make it happen! So, we'll see what he comes up with. *g* But, yay! Tonight! *crosses fingers*
I played hooky from work yesterday afternoon and today. Technically I took some sick time; although I wasn't sick, per se, but rather annoyingly headachey and suffering a pretty severe case of the blahs. Yes, I'm pretty sure that's the actual medical diagnosis.

But the extra down time meant that I was finally able to get caught up with Legend of the Seeker, which continues to be mental fluff but still good times, and Supernatural, which, really, y'all sure you want to know what I thought? ) I still need to catch up on White Collar and the last episode of Sons of Anarchy, but I've definitely made some progress with the DVR.

The case of the blahs meant that I didn't go out on Friday night like I had planned to do. And because I was home, I ended up having the most surreal chat with an ex-boyfriend. Seriously, it had been almost ELEVEN YEARS since I'd talked to him and out of nowhere he pops up on my chat screen. Surreal doesn't even begin to explain it. But it was good to be able to have a conversation and realize that all the hurt feelings that had festered for so long really were gone. It's just good to get confirmation that all the Work, really has yielded results. Still, fucking surreal. *shakes head*

In other news, dance is going quite fabulously. We've choreographed a completely kickass swing to "For Your Entertainment." Which also happens to be completely on crack. Holy bananas that beat is fast! But so fun! I can't wait to perform it next week. Best of all, though, dance is gong fabulously because it really centers me and connects me to all parts of myself. I love that! More, I need that!

Who am I kidding though with all this updatey stuff? The real news is that ADAM LAMBERT'S FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT VIDEO IS FINALLY AVAILABLE!!!!!! *flails*

So hot out the box!!! I love it!!! *flails more*

Also, in an only marginally related note, is it silly that it fills me with absolute glee to see that Adam is wearing the same Nicolina Royale necklace that I have in one of his album pictures? Silly or not, So. Much. GLEE!!!
I'm pretty sure I reached my quota of crazy sometime Monday afternoon, and somehow the crazy keeps coming. *shakes head* I've been working insane hours and just managing to keep my head above water, but I think I've talked The Boss into hiring another law clerk and a litigation paralegal more minions, so hopefully I'll be able to dig myself out sometime before the new year!

In other craziness, my brother, sister in law, and the girls will be moving in with me and my mom next week. They just got word that the short sale on their house went through and they need to be out of their house by the first of December. Their options are limited, so it looks as if they'll be living here for a while. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I can help them out, and I love my nieces like nothing else, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go slightly out of my mind with so many people in the same space.

In better news, dance continues to be made of pure awesomeness. We're choreographing a killer swing to Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment. It's insane, but I'm having so much fun with it! I also managed to get back on track with the trainer. He righteously kicked my ass on Saturday. I hurt like hell the next day. It was awesome. *g*

I also finally managed to get caught up with Sons of Anarchy this past weekend. Holy hell. That show rocks so hard. Gemma, Clay, Tara, and Jax KILED ME DED in that last scene. All of them are just so awesomely fucked up and complicated, and yet there's something in all of them that I just can't help but love!

White Collar rocks pretty hard too. How much do I love Neal and Peter? Lots. Lots and lots. ♥

I am, however, still woefully behind on Supernatural with very little motivation to get caught up. *shrugs*

So, due to aforementioned craziness, I feel completely disconnected from everything and everyone. So talk to me people! What's up? *g*
Some colors from today:

:: All my gratitude to the men and women who serve and have served in our armed forces. Their service and sacrifice are noted, valued, and appreciated.

:: I am deeply saddened by the news that Diana's Grove will be sold. At the same time, I am so grateful for the work that Cynthea, Patricia, and all of the Grove staff and community have wrought. My life has been changed by the manifestation of their dream, as I know many others have been similarly impacted. Change is rarely easy, but it is always necessary. I understand that Mystery School will continue in some form, so I am both challenged and excited to redouble my commitment to get back to Mystery School next year, and, hopefully, to get back to the land once more as well, and to continue this work in my own life and my various communities.

:: I love the way dance challenges me to work with both my head and my heart. Yesterday's lesson was very technical, full of small details, whys and wherefores, counts and precision. All of which I need and want and get frustrated when I don't have. And, yet, it wasn't until I stopped thinking and just felt that it finally came together.
Oh, my. This day is just insane. Anyone have a little peace and quiet they'd be willing to trade me for some batshit crazy clients and a looming deadline or two? What? No takers? *incredulous*

In less bitcherific news, the Phillies won last night!!! Please, @god, let's make it a seven game series!

I also had a dance lesson last night, which was all kinds of awesome. With only a minimal amount of mockery, I managed to convince my instructor that we had to do next month's showcase number to For Your Entertainment. The idea of dancing to this song makes me ridiculously happy!!!! The beat is too freakin fast for a chacha, but we're going to choreograph a kickass East Coast/West Coast swing to it and it'll be FANTABULOUS!!! Mostly, though, I want to put together a dance outfit that consists of as much leather and metal studs as possible! *laughs* Oh, Adam, what have you done to me?!?!

I also just realized (and only because someone on my flist posted about it) that tonight David Cook is playing at the Arizona State Fair. I'm so awesome, I forgot my ticket at home. *facepalm* So after court I need to run home to grab it and to change. But! My sieve-like memory notwithstanding, the important thing here is that tonight I get to hear DAVID FREAKIN' COOK!!! I think that The Script is opening and I'm totally looking forward to them too!

This is all very exciting for a Tuesday!!!
It felt wonderful to get back to the dance studio last night. It's amazing that I can still retain any muscle memory after a year, but, while not sharp, it wasn't bad. And I always have such a blast with my instructor, Josh. He cracks me up! Which, I think is his sneaky strategy to get me out of my head when I'm dancing. Whatever. It works.

And remember I was saying that dancing is a great way for me to deal with all my relationship issues? This is an example of what I mean: Josh was super excited to see me back in the studio and immediately starts going on about a competition in February that he would really like for us to enter, and just like that, a wave of NOOOO!!! ACK COMMITMENT! issues slams me upside the head! I will agree to dance this dance with you, and maybe even the next one, but no way am I gong to agree to still be dancing with you four months from now! *laughs* My reaction was so immediate and so obvious that it even cracked me up! And even though I could laugh at myself, there was no way I was going to commit to prepping for a dance competition next spring. Commitment issues. I haz them. So, yeah, um, ok. I'll be working on that one. *g*

Enough about my issues, let's talk about pretty boys kissing, shall we? *g* I finally saw the pictures of Matthew Bomer kissing his boyfriend and they are made of sunshine and rainbows and all things happy making!

No, really. They are! )

Mmmm. So pretty! And just another reason why everyone should be watching White Collar! *beams*

In other happy making news, did y'all watch the Phillies tap dance all over the Yankees last night? It was good times! Cliff Lee was freakin' insane! Just brilliant. Seven games would be awesome, but I won't complain if the Phillies decide to take care of this thing sooner rather than later. Just sayin'. *g*
:: The dairy aisle is full of coffee creamers in wonderful holiday flavors! Mmmm. I bought Pumpkin Spice and I can't wait for my morning coffee!!!

:: Today's dance lesson once again highlighted my deeply rooted control issues. Dear Jess: Despite your best efforts, you are not in charge of this ride. Please to be remembering that, when it comes to ballroom dancing, your job is to follow and not to lead. *headdesk*

:: I just saw that Steve Carlson will be playing the Hotel Cafe on December 20th. This just happens to be the weekend that I will be in Anaheim with my niece at Disneyland. Interesting. Anyone who's joining me at Disneyland on Saturday interested in leaving early enough to catch Steve's show? *ponders*

:: I'm thinking of taking a yoga class again. There's a (relatively) new studio just down the street that I think I'll check out. They have Nia classess too, which I'm seriously thinking about trying, as well as a weekly Yin class. Anyone done Nia?

:: *laughs and laughs* Chad Michael Murray's episode of One Tree Hill is hilariously cheesetastic! I love all it's awesome badness!
The balls of my feet hurt...from dancing! *facepalm* But, man, was it ever a good time! We went to this great wine bar called Va Bene that has live music, and we danced until we just couldn't. Good times!

I was also at once amused and annoyed by some of the other folks on the dance floor. Memo to the white dude with the flaily arms: That? What you were doing all night in every one else's personal space? That is NOT dancing. I'm not sure what it is. But you might want to cut it out before you hurt yourself. Or, more importantly, before you hurt someone else. Next time I WILL elbow you in the ribs. Unimpressed, Me.

Also, people, for the love of all that's holy, buy some damn rhythm before you try to dance on a very crowded dance floor.

Crowded dance floor filled with uncoordinated people not with standing, we had a blast.
Why, oh WHY, do I have that jingle stuck in my head??? If I'm going to be mentally tortured by outdated marketing jingles for no apparent reason, I think I at least deserve the damn candy bar that goes with it!

Anyway. Nuts or not, there is good news to be had today! Season two of Brotherhood was released on DVD yesterday and my copy arrived today!!! This weekend there shall be Caffee brothers, and brotherly angst, and political machinations, and fucked up family dynamics, and the blinding HOTNESS of Jason Isaacs and Jason Clarke!!! *flails*

In other exciting fannish news, the new BBC Arthurian show, Merlin, is slated to air in the U.S. on NBC in January!!! It looks potentially, cheestastically FABULOUS! Between Legend of the Seeker starting in November and then Merlin in January, my inner fantasy geek is very, very happy!

Also exciting: I finally got back in to the dance studio yesterday!!! I hadn't realized that it had been so long since I'd been in -- since December of last year! Way too long to go without dance. So, anyway, yesterday's lesson went well. It was sort of like riding a bike -- it all just came back as soon as I got on the floor! I have over 30 hours of lessons already paid up, so it's not an extra expense, which is a good thing right now. I'm not sure that I want to gear up for any competition or shows right now; I just want to get back to the studio, dance regularly, and have fun. But, yes, YAY!

Finally, holy HOTNESS, Batman! )
