This weekend's Happy List:

- Baseball!!! I had great seats to both Friday and Saturday's games between the Diamondbacks and the Marlins. Good games, both, even though I didn't get to see Chris catch either game. *sadface* Misty May Treanor was at the Saturday game and got a standing ovation when she showed off her gold metal. It was pretty cool. It was also pretty cool to see Luis Gonzalez back at Chase Field. He got a huge round of applause when he came to the plate.

- Eric Brynes bobble heads!!! I am SO easily amused sometimes. *g*

- Hanging out with an old college friend at Friday's game who I hadn't seen in almost a year. It's always an outrageously good time whenever Tom is around. Plus we got a chance to have some really good conversations and really just catch up on each other's lives.

- [livejournal.com profile] annkiri!!! I got Becca for almost a week and it was so good to just be able to hang out, even though the reason for her extended say was quite sucktastic. She is sadly no longer with me, but will be back next weekend to pick up her car.

- Watching the adorable Matt Mitcham win the gold in 10m platform diving. I was bummed that I didn't catch his medal ceremony, but apparently NBC didn't air it, nor did they mention that he was the only openly gay male athlete at the games. FAIL. I dug around, though, until I found a video of his medal ceremony: Matt Mitcham's dives and medal ceremony. He's cute as a button!!! )

- Finding a delicious new place for Sunday brunch. Mmmmmm. Speaking of yummy food, I can also add a Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait for lunch and homemade mac-and-cheese for dinner. So very yummy!

- Generation Kill. It's by far some of the best damn television I've seen all year. Sadly the last episode aired today, but I did order the book that it's based on and also the one written by Lt. Fick, so I'll have those to read, and I'm sure I'll be rewatching the episodes and bugging nagging encouraging others to watch them(*cough*[livejournal.com profile] azewewish*cough*) in the hopes that I'll get more GK fic. *g*
Yesterday: In one word, MISERABLE. It was Office Moving Day -- a billion and three degrees, furniture that weighed slightly more than a fuckton, and my loser cousin bailing on me with the moving help, which meant that it was just me and my brother doing the heavy lifting. And, for reference, the loser cousin who bailed? That would be the same loser cousin who's criminal case I'm currently handling, for FREE. *hates* The only positive thing about yesterday? A very YUMMY mango smoothie for breakfast lunch dinner the only damn thing I had time to eat all day.

Today: Longest freakin' Monday in recent history of bad Mondays. Ugh. I can do without the 4 a.m. start times and the scheduled end-to-end days, thank you very much. But I did manage to squeeze in about 3 days worth of work in to today, including settling or almost settling five cases. I rock! \o/

Tomorrow: High potential for AWESOMENESS. I get [livejournal.com profile] annkiri here for an overnight pit stop some time in the afternoon. BECCA!!! And then we'll head over to the ballpark for the Diamondbacks/Padres game. BASEBALL!!! Tomorrow will definitely not suck. *g*

In other news:

- The work mess is still not unfucked. I'm hoping to have more answers tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

+ I just received a FABULOUS gift basket from [livejournal.com profile] erianne1 filled with homemade soap, bath stuffs, lotion, lip balm and candle! It all smells yummy and I can't wait to dig in! Thank you, Angi!!! ♥

- Either the air conditioner or the fan or maybe both in my Trooper seem to be crapping out. The timing couldn't possibly be worse. I'm afraid to even imagine what this is going to cost. *stabbity*

+ My mom is AWESOME!!! For many reasons, but more recently because she's buying me my airline ticket to New Orleans for my birthday! New Orleans is still a go!!! \o/

+/- Generation Kill is still some of the best television I've seen! But next week is the last episode and I'm kind of sad about that.
Dear gods. This week has dragged on SO slowly. Work is progressing at a good pace and I've been able to get quite a bit done, but for whatever reason this week has seemed so sluggish. I did catch a bit of a break work-wise today by being relieved of duty with regard to a particularly problematic client. Which also means that I get my October back instead of it being consumed by what was going to be a long (at least 3 weeks) and likely horrifying trial.

And despite the slow pace, tomorrow is in fact Thursday, which, importantly in my part of the world, means the start to an awesome baseball weekend!!! \o/ I've got tickets to all four games of the Diamondbacks' series against the Braves and I'm SO looking forward to the time at the ball park! I'm hoping to get done with court and jail visits and the piles of paperwork on my desk early enough tomorrow to make it in time for batting practice.

Other tidbits for this forever-long week include:

- Generation Kill fic is slowly starting to make it's way to my flist. This is exceedingly happy making!!! Possibly my favorite so far: Home, Fick/Colbert (set after the events on the show) by [livejournal.com profile] wrenette.

- While football normally doesn't make a significant blip on my sports radar until after October, Sports Center is telling me that Brett Favre has been traded to the Jets. Hrm. That's really all I have to say about that. Hrm.

- Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be playing a closeted gay man in Ang Lee's "Taking Woodstock." With Liev Schreiber as a transvestite! And Emile Hirsch! The amount of AWESOMENESS in this one announcement is, well, AWESOME!!!

- Strangely, the venue where Christian Kane (and, apparently, Steve Carlson) will be opening next week for country artist Chris Cagle has stopped selling tickets for the show. The site says only "Sale Stopped." Yesterday when I checked availability they seemed to have plenty of open seats, so I'm not really sure what the "stopped sale" means. I'm telling you, this whole thing is wrought with strangeness. *boggles*

- 20 days until my birthday!!! I'm of the firm belief that one ought to celebrate their own entrance into this world for not just a day but for their entire birth month. *nods* So, I'm officially on Birthday Month Revelry!!! \o/

- The workout with Trainer!Boy today included a good deal of boxing. It was one hell of a workout, but, man, did it ever feel good. Beating the shit outa something is better than therapy! *is fierce*
This day has been insane. I was scheduled in five different courtrooms this morning! I finally managed to hit them all, but I didn't get out of court until nearly noon, just in time to grab my recorder and some coffee before dashing off to an interview. I've finally managed to make it to the office, and I have reams of paperwork to work through, but first I'm giving the Excedrin I just popped a few minutes to work on this damn headache.

So, yeah. Definitely a Monday.

The weekend, however, was made of rest and relaxation, with lots of baseball, reading, Generation Kill and nothing more taxing than a family birthday party and a few loads of laundry. Just the kind of weekend I needed!

Speaking of Generation Kill, if you aren't watching it, you really should be. The show is phenomenal. I don't think I exaggerate when I say it's the same caliber of military show as was Black Hawk Down. Interesting characters and character dynamics. Gritty storytelling. Realistic dialog. Just all around good stuff. Plus? Really hot men in military uniform. Or, even better, shirtless!!! What's not to love? See what I mean? This is Sgt. Brad Colbert and his lovely back tattoo!!! )

Which brings me to Alexander Skarsgåd, the Swedish actor who plays Colbert. Isn't he just pretty? )

He really needs to be on my t.v. screen more often. And, apparently he will be as he's landed a recurring role in HBO's "True Blood". *laughs* Man, I had absolutely NO desire to see this show. In fact, the viral marketing campaign was really getting on my nerves. But, now? I don't know. I just might have to check it out.

And since my tangents have already included shirtless military men, hot Swedish boys and vampires, allow me to go one more: Marcus (of the Divine Rod of Light) has retired his dancing thong and will no longer be performing with the Hollywood Men. Apparently, gettin' naked for money is an "old habit" that he must leave behind in order to pursue his new purpose in life, coaching. *laughs and laughs*

Let's see. What else? Despite a really Monday-ish Monday, the rest of the week looks good. Work, of course, will be work. But later in the week there will be lots and lots of baseball!!! I'm dragging my mom with me to Thursday night's game against the Braves, then [livejournal.com profile] azewewish will be in town for the rest of the series. Yay!!! I can't wait!

I'm also back on a regular schedule with Trainer!Boy. He thoroughly kicked my ass on Friday and I felt it all weekend. He'll be back this evening for more ass-kicking. But after a few weeks off due to a crazy travel schedule, it feels good to be back on track.

Now that the headache seems to be dulling, I better get to this pile of paperwork. Why, though, is it still Monday??? *whines*

Comic Con

Jul. 28th, 2008 08:27 pm
My first Comic Con experience was made of much awesomeness. Given, however, that there was simply too much awesomeness to remember it all, combined with my level of sheer exhaustion, I don't believe it will be possible for me to adequately convey the fabulousness of my con experience. So instead, I give you highlights in bullet form, with a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. *g*

• Steven Moffat was hilarious and he may have converted me to a fan during the span of the Doctor Who panel.

• I was thoroughly charmed by the Torchwood cast. [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva has a full report of their panel here.

John Barrowman )

Gareth David-Lloyd )

Naoko Mori )

• Jacob Wyatt from Provo, Utah saved the day. He'll be happy to know that, his personal experience not with standing, he indeed had a fabulous time at Comic Con! *g*

• Grant Morrison is completely sexass with his brilliant and amusing brain, sharp dressing, bald head, and Scottish accent, and [livejournal.com profile] editorzon isn't the only one who wants to have his brilliant, bald headed, Scottish babies. *g*

• Due to some fortuitous ogling of a very hot police officer (the ogling of hot men was definitely a theme of the con) we were able to meet and talk to Rudy Reyes from Generation Kill. Holy hell that man is BUILT! He also gets extra awesome points for the hugs and kisses.

Rudy Reyes with four very happy Hookers. )

• The Watchmen panel was awesome. The extended trailer looked amazing, just visually stunning. Everyone seems very invested in doing right by this movie. Also? Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a hotass. As is Patrick Wilson. Someone needs to write Jeff/Patrick porn for me, because together that's enough HOT to possibly make me spontaneously combust! *bites lip*

The combined HOTASS-ness of Jeffrey and Patrick. )

More JDM Hotness )

Billy Crudup )

John Barrowman really liked the dude dressed up as one of the 300 Spartan warriors. )

• We had a hell of a good time at the hotel bar with Guillermo the Latin Tea Boy and Zack the Bartender (also affectionately known as Super G and Z Man).

• The footage for Terminator Salvation looks FUCKING AMAZING!!! Seriously. I got goose bumps. I am so excited to see this movie now!!!

McG and Sam Worthington )

More Sam because he's hot like burning. )

Moon Bloodgood and Anton Yelchin )

• We were walking around the dealers' room and suddenly Nathan Fillion is right in front of us. I'm happy to report that he was lookin' good.

Nathan Fillion )

• For [livejournal.com profile] wrenlet: Some drive-by pics of Matt Dallas of Kyle XY )

• Jason Statham is a little bundle of sexass and the Death Race panel totally sparked my interest in movie.

Jason Statham )

• I had a great time walking around the floor and discovering new (or new to me) artists and writers. Also, a good time: ogling and flirting with what was surprisingly a plethora of hot men. *g*

• I never did make it to the Supernatural panel because I just didn't care enough to get up at the crack of dawn to get into what was a ridiculously long line. The closest we came to the boys was unexpectedly getting caught up in the mad crush of fangirls when Jensen came out to the floor to sign autographs. We got the hell out of there just as soon as we could.

• The absolute best part of Comic Con though was sharing the experience with good friends - [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ (your pictures of Brian Austin Green have been my happy place all afternoon *g*), [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva (you were missed terribly), [livejournal.com profile] dellastarr (I'm SO glad to have met you!!!), and the other two members of the Unholy Trinity, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish (I think we probably all should come with a warning when we're together *g*). I had a blast and can't wait to go back next year!
