Con Report: AWESOMENESS!!!

The weekend was fabulous!!! I was in L.A. for the Salute to Supernatural convention, a Steve Carlson show, and (mostly) to see my girls
wendy and
annkiri who were in from Texas,
_lisalisa_ and
glendaglamazon, and all my L.A. Hookers. We jammed so much into four days, there's no way I can cover it all, but I'll give you the condensed bullety version, along with a few pictures:
I think that's all the bullety recapping I can muster. In sum, the weekend was made of all kinds of awesome!!! Now I'm home and tired and missing my girls and trying not to think about having to get up early for court tomorrow.

- I was SO HAPPY that I had the chance to catch both
azewewish and
idiosyncratic in town on Thursday night before they headed toward their respective homes. We had dinner at the Velvet Margarita with Wendy, Becca, Lisa, and Allison before Steve's show. The Velvet Margarita looks like a strip joint from the outside and a strangely glitzy Mexican whore house on the inside. It was hilarious! But the margaritas were yummy, the food delish, and the dinner company stellar!
- Steve's show was great. I was quite pleased to meet the dynamic duo that is
runedgirl *waves* -- they are smart and sweet and interesting and I was glad to have had the chance to meet them before the craziness of the con got underway. There was quite a large group at the show. Thankfully it wasn't quite the circus I had been fearing. We caught the last bit of the musician who went on before Steve and he had Ben Harper playing with him, which was all kinds of unexpectedly awesome. Steve and the band were rockin' it. Unfortunately my shoes were hurting like a sonovabitch, so my dancing was kept to a minimum.
- Friday Wendy and I headed to the Farmer's Market for brunch. After brunch we walked around The Grove a bit, where I bought this RED BAG OF AWESOMENESS!!! Then I gave Wendy my Super Premium Tour of L.A. Being that I'm actually from Arizona, and don't really know my way around L.A. all that well, my tour was quite a bit different from those in the double-decker red buses. We may not have actually seen anything more significant than the Coffee Bean in Studio City, but we had a BLAST! Friday night we met at a delicious Indian restaurant in Marina del Rey (thank you,
without_me, both for the great restaurant suggestion and your lovely company!) for Becca's birthday dinner. So many good times and the con had not even started!!!!
- Jason Manns played at the con Friday night. Jason is rocking the homeless lumberjack look right now in preparation for some projects he's working on. He's all burly and hairy. My picture taking skills kinda suck, but I've brought some pictorial evidence of the Jason Manns a la Big 'n' Burly Homeless Lumberjack:
One more, because he's adorable in all his hairiness:
Jason was, as always, wonderful. I think he played just about every song in his musical repertoire. But I felt so bad for him because he was playing to a room full of people who were just sitting there, most of them with absolutely NO expression on their face. It was so horribly awkward (although I'll admit to finding the sea of expressionless faces hilarious! Seriously. Some folks really need to learn to express emotion without emoticons! *laughs*) Jason was awesome though, and after the show when we were chatting for a bit he made the most hilarious imitation of what most of the audience looked like from the stage. He said he had a good time anyway -- something about being good at entertaining himself on stage. *g* He also thanked us for being sprinkled through out the crowd and for being enthusiastic with our feedback because otherwise the audience would have been entirely flat. That boy is most adorable!
Oh. Yeah! He also had a single cd for sale of "Crazy Love" that he recorded with Jensen. Jensen sings the second verse and he definitely pulled out the Texas twang for it! I think turned out really well and it certainly was a nice treat for all the con-goers. (By the way, there are probably bootleg copies of the single all over the web by now, but if you want it, Jason has made it available for purchase from his myspace page. He financed this little fan indulgence, so it's only fair that we buy the cd.) - On Saturday, I skipped Frederic Lane's panel in favor of a workout (sadly not with EPTH, although I did get a fantastic lap dance from him later in the day) and then lunch with
editorzon. I did catch Jason's, Chad Lindberg's, and Eric Kripke's panels though. Jason, unsurprisingly, was asked about how he and Jensen became friends. Chad looked very uncomfortable. And Eric Kripke was pretty cool. There are plenty of recaps detailing what was said, so I won't go into details here, mostly because I don't remember them! As I've already mentioned, my pictures are crap, but here's a marginally acceptable one of Eric:
- Because I found the it highly amusing that they were selling photo-op tickets for Jason AND because I really wanted to memorialize the Big 'n' Burly Homeless Lumberjack look, I took a picture with him:
*laughs and laughs* - On Saturday night I skipped out on Steve's con show and instead joined
editorzon,
sabrinagb,
aproposofnothin and the lovely Priscilla for HOT (nearly) NAKED MEN at the Hollywood Men show!!! Best decision of the weekend! (I love Steve, but I thankfully get to see him quite often. Plus, I wasn't too terribly excited to see him in that context.) So. Hot, nearly naked men gettin' all up in our business was an easy choice! OMG! SUCH A FABULOUS TIME!!! I got to see both Austin and Rico, who I hadn't seen before. Dear gods, Austin is scorching HOT! And hard. Everywhere. And Marcus was cocky and sweaty and wonderful. And Niko was on fire (cameras were rolling, so he definitely brought out his A-game *g*). And Sarge was even better than I remembered him. In sum, the men were HOT and we had a GREAT time!
- Despite a very late night, I was still up in time for the breakfast panel with Jared and Jensen on Sunday. Seriously, there was not enough caffeine in the world to make me feel truly awake! The boys were only there for a little while, but they were fun and adorable. The rest of the morning and early afternoon was packed with Jensen and Jared at photo-ops and at panels and in autograph lines, the details of which are all over the web, so, again, I won't repeat them here. They are both gorgeous and charming and completely delightful. Also, my hair looks especially awesome in our picture! *beams*
Here are a few pictures of the boys: - Steve's panel was fun and he was relaxed and obviously enjoying talking about himself. *g* Several of us Hookers did our part to keep questions going so that he could continue to talk about himself! Someone did ask the Kane question and he deftly danced around it. *laughs* He also mentioned that the new cd should be out sometime in May. \o/
- Sandy was absolutely adorable, but she was so nervous and full of bouncy energy that none of the pictures came out. Cute and smart and ADORABLE, though.
I think that's all the bullety recapping I can muster. In sum, the weekend was made of all kinds of awesome!!! Now I'm home and tired and missing my girls and trying not to think about having to get up early for court tomorrow.

Date: 2008-04-01 06:12 am (UTC)I'm so glad I had the best idea of the weekend. It would have been criminal if you hadn't had the joy of Austin and Rico. New naked boys are the best!
Niko was so on fire. Tonight's workout was very nice, there was a cute moment of "Hi, I just saw you and was all up in your business, how are you doing?" *glee*
Yes, your hair looks super fabulous. Have I ever told you I lust after your hair? So sexy!
How awesome are you for getting this up. I'm probably gonna tackle mine tomorrow.
