In the interest of starting the week off on a good note, here are some things that are making me happy today. But, be warned, about 90% of this post will be Darren Criss. *g*

:: LOGO has green lighted Be Good Johnny Weir! I was never able to watch when it aired on Sundance, but now I will! This is very exciting to me!!!

:: Today I received my 2011 Adam Lambert calendar featuring Cherry Lee's photography. And let me just say that I am now officially looking forward to EVERY month in 2011! Especially October! )

Speaking of Adam related happiness, his Acoustic Live! EP dropped today and it's AMAZING. His vocals are just stunning. And even though I've heard these songs over and over again this past year, hearing them stripped down is making me fall in love with them all over again! <333

:: So, now we've come to Darren Criss portion of this Happy List! )

:: Awesome Holiday Song of the Day: Baby It's Cold Outside (Redux) [GLEE SPOILERS] )

*sighs* I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now. :)
I found a professional resume writing service that I'm very pleased with. The company that I'm working with focuses specifically on the legal field, and the owner (and the person actually working on my resume) is a former attorney with tons of experience who is now doing human resources/recruiting for major law firms, so I'm confident that she'll be able to more than adequately handle the substantive tweaks that I want to make. Plus, she's been very helpful with just general job search ideas and strategies. I'm super excited about having a shiny, polished resume and this has translated to me feeling more optimistic about the whole job situation. Which, isn't exactly logical, because it's not likely that there will actually be many potential employers to impress with my shiny new resume until after the first of the year. But, whatever. Shiny new resume!!! Shiny new positive outlook!!! Win/win! :D

Other shiny things making me happy today include:

Pocket!Puppy!!! )

Y'all remember that adorable Australian, openly gay, gold medal diver from the 2008 Olympics? He was fabulous, right? And, of course, Johnny Weir is also fabulous, albeit on frozen water instead of diving into a pool of water. So seriously, Matthew Mitcham together with Johnny Weir is perhaps too much FABULOUS for this world to handle!!! )

✶ Also, yesterday, THIS HAPPENED!!! )

Today's dose of Holiday Happy with our Awesome Holiday Song of the Day! )

Baby It's Cold Outside -- Chris Colfer & Darren Criss (Glee Cast)

✶ And now I'm heading out to dinner to celebrate my brother's birthday!
The awesome thing about being unemployed? Mondays don't suck nearly as hard as when you need to crawl out of a weekend and into a Monday morning at the office. Silver linings, man! :D

So, since I'm doing the non-suck version of a Monday, I'm gonna talk about sparkly things! *beams*

For instance, the lovely weekend I just had! On Friday I went to see The Deathly Hallows, Part 1 with V on the huge Cine Capri screen! I loved it! I was so damn impressed with Daniel's, Emma's, and Rupert's acting too.

On Saturday I went to Bruno Mars' show and he was AMAZING (just the way he is! *g*) No, really, he killed it. If you get a chance to see him live, I highly recommend that you do.

And then, to cap off a weekend of musical awesomeness, I was able to go see Jerrod Niemann's show last night and it was so much fun! (I'll probably make a post about the show later, but the short version was: damn good times!)

But, wait! There are even MOAR SPARKLY THINGS!!!

✶ The PTB at Glee recently announced that the Glee Live show will hit the UK in the summer with the full cast, plus Darren Criss (Blaine) and Chord Overstreet (Sam). Which is awesome, but since I'm not in the UK not particularly awesome for me. But, and this is the sparkly part, they also hinted at good news for the U.S. coming soon! I'm choosing to believe that this means another Glee Live tour in the U.S. next summer!!! *bounces* Seriously, this show was pure JOY and if it tours again anywhere within a reasonable air fare, I'm totes there!

✶ Speaking of shiny Glee related news, I got my tickets for Darren Criss's show in L.A. at The Roxy on December 18th!!! That's the same night of Monte Pittman's show, but since Darren goes on earlier, I think that with a bit of fancy driving we can totally make both shows. That's the plan, anyway. Two Adam Lambert shows, Monte's solo show, and now Darren's show!!! There will be so much musical fabulosity packed into this trip to L.A.!!!

NIN's remastered re-issue of Pretty Hate Machine is going to include a cover of Queen's 'Get Down, Make Love'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can preview the LP, including the cover of "Get Down, Make Love" at that link. Sweet jam on crackers, I need this in my life now!!!

This AMAZING fanvid of Adam Lambert set to Scissor Sisters' Filthy Gorgeous is one of the best things to happen in my life!!!! )

*fans self* (And, bonus!sparkle, I'm going to see the Scissor Sisters in April in Atlanta!!!!!!!!)

Debauched!Adam is my favorite! )

✶ So, Johnny Weir is judging that new Skating with the Stars show??? Gods, that show looks as if it's going to be painful to watch. But I sort of feel compelled by Johnny's sheer fabulosity to make some room for it on my DVR. *laughs*

✶ I had an awesome workout with my trainer this morning. But I'm pretty sure that if I don't get up and take some ibuprofen now, I may not be able to move soon. *hurts so goooood*
>> Roy Halladay a perfect game today!!! It's the 20th perfect game in MLB history and the SECOND this month! I love this crazy game!

>> OMFG, finally we get THIS:

Photobucket

>> Who's gonna write me the fem-slash? *begs*

Photobucket

>> Dianna Agron and Lea Michelle were out with the rest of the Glee cast celebrating Chris Colfer's birthday. They are ADORABLE! )

>> Apparently Allison Iraheta will also be in Adam Lambert's If I Had You music video. I find this incredibly charming!

(If you click and make it bigger, you can see Allison on the far right in the green/silver cloak.)
I think "Strut" has become my internal power!lawyer theme song. I realized yesterday walking out of court that it was on loop in my head, and now that I think about it, I seem to unconsciously hit that particular play button whenever I really need to get my lawyer on, so to speak. I find this all kinds of hilarious. And now that I'm aware of it, I wouldn't be surprised if I laugh out loud at my own ridiculousness next time I walk into the courtroom or a negotiation room with "I wanna start a revolution..." playing in my head, thus completely negating the whole kick-ass-lawyer thing I was going for in the first place. *laughs*

Speaking of the kick-ass-lawyer thing, I've got approximately a million kick-ass-lawyerly things to do today, so sadly I can't flit around the internet while I grab a bite for lunch like I would prefer to do. But before I get to all the things that I have to do instead, I bring you three shiny things to make this Tuesday just a little more sparkly:

:: Jason Mamoa. Shirtless. On the set of "Conan the Barbarian."

Photobucket

JFC. *bites lip* Y'all are very welcome. *g*

:: A Johnny Weir fic recs post. I haven't had time to see what's there, but I'm sure we can all find something suitably shiny and entertaining.

:: This 6th Grader's rendition of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" is AMAZING!!!

loving you is cherry pie )

That kid's got some serious talent! And his smile at the end is PRECIOUS! Now watch it again but this time concentrate on the HEART EYES of the girls in the audience...equally DELIGHTFUL!!! *loves*

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL TUESDAY!!! *mwah*
Random sparkly fun stuff for your Friday happy-making!

:: Christina Aguilera's new video for "Not Myself Tonight"!!!

So hot out the box! )

What do y'all think? I kinda love it! It's certainly not groundbreaking in any way and rings of both Madonna and Lady Gaga. But, whatever, it's NEW CHRISTINA!!! And it's crazy hot!!! There's no bad there! *g*

:: Johnny Weir is adorbs! But this is not news. The news part is that he skated a gorgeous new routine, 'Heartbroken,' for Ice Theater of New York.

Heartbroken )

Beautiful! *loves*

:: Also not news: Adam Lambert is gorgeous! He was featured in People's Beautiful People edition.

Beautiful in every single way. )

:: Adam also seems to like hugging is pretty little bassist, Tommy. I approve of this!

Because all straight bassist hug their gay bosses like this, right? )

I just love how touchy-feely they are with each other. Pretty boys being huggy and adorable!!! There is NO bad here!

:: Cheeks' picks for Hot 100 are featured on After Elton today. So cheeky! And, according to him, this is not a "wish list," but a "to do" list! Which, you know, just pings the hell outa my, uh, love of lists! Yeah, that's it! *g*
My state sucks. I'm relocating to Glam Nation. *nods*

Also, "glitter and loveliness for all" is now my LIFE MOTTO! *g* (New life motto brought to us courtesy of Adam's MySpace chat from London this morning.)

It's Fun Friday, dammit!!! So, here are some good-time fic recs for y'all!

  • Johnny Weir: One of the best things I saw last week was George Lopez's interview with Johnny. I am highly amused and completely charmed by the way George is such a total fanboy! Attention Latino men: please pay attention. This is the way we do tolerance and acceptance. Anyway, other than host squeeing over Johnny, the greatest thing about that interview was George helping Johnny to live out his dream of RIDING A YAK!!! Yes, you read right. A yak. Fabulous!

  • Serendipity: This morning my sister in law and I were talking about body image and how she goes about teaching Rianna good nutritional habits without making her feel bad or self-conscious about her body. Anyone who's been around here a while knows that this is an area in which I've done and continue to do a lot of personal work. I was really glad to see that my SIL was thinking about these things and realizing that she needs to start changing her own self image so that she can set a healthy example for Rianna. It was a good conversation.

And then later in the day I happened upon this: a (free) Girls Self-Esteem Workshop sponsored by the Dove Self-Esteem Fund and Real Beauty Campaign that is being held a dance studio that is literally half a block from my house! The workshop is designed to empower girls by promoting new ways of thinking about beauty, body image and self-esteem with positive, confidence-building discussions and activities in a comfortable and judgement-free environment. Seriously, how awesomely serendipitous is that?!!

  • Fic Recs: Mostly because I want to be able to close some of the billion tabs I have open.

goodreads

Mar. 13th, 2010 02:30 pm
I've been meaning to post these recs for approximately forever, but LIFE has been interferring with my fannishness lately. The latest such obstruction was my laptop deciding it no longer needed to load Windows this morning. WTF, Universe? What the ever-loving fuck??? Luckily my Computer Guy is brilliant and does not mock me when I send him hysterical text messages about my laptop's inglorious death. He can't work on it until Monday though, so until then I'm on borrowed computer time. But since that means another half a week or so before I can count on getting my laptop back and since I'm not sure those tabs are even going to survive the laptop's (hopefully) resusitation, I decided to post these now, while I still remembered most of what I was intending to rec. So, here you go -- lots of goodreads for the weekend!

Happy reading!
I've been in a fog of sick, sleep, and cold meds all day. Oh, and tequila! My mom brought me a shot of Patron with a chaser of hot cinnamon tea this afternoon. *laughs* Because that is how we roll in my family! And we hold fast to our firm belief that there ain't much in this world that a few shots of tequila can't cure.

So, as I was saying, there's been much with the brain fog today. But, nonetheless, I've managed to keep myself adequately entertained by the following:

First Amusing Item: This fabulous primer on the awesomeness of Johnny Weir thoughtfully provided by [livejournal.com profile] jocondite. There is so much fabulosity there it's impossible to take it all in at once! But since I've been doing very little that required me to get out of my bed today, I've had the time to roll around there for HOURS and enjoy all the sparkly Johnny Weir material!

What (tragically) I haven't done yet is read much Johnny Weir fic. Anyone have any recs for me? *bats eyelashes*

Second Amusing Item: Adam. Closing out Sydney's Mardi Gras. In skin tight latex pants. A leather harness. Blinged out shin guards. And a BEDAZZLED CODPIECE. Yes. All at once. An amazing and sparkly confluence of kinky fashion accouterments! *laughs* He defies description. Just check this out!

Seriously. Rhinestones. On. His. Penis. Oh, Adam. Never change, bb. *g*

Wanna know what's even more awesome than his bedazzled cock, though? (And, truly, that I just wrote that sentence completely boggles my mind!) But, yes, even more awesome was that after the Naked Dancing Boys/Strutting Drag Queens/Sparkly Codpiece/Rock The Fuck Out performance of For Your Entertainment (the same song that got him banned from U.S. television screens for a while, by the way), he breaks character for a moment with the most adorable, boyish 'OMG I Can't Believe This Is My Life' grin ever. *loves*
March! I'm expecting damn good things from you, primarily less work-related insanity and more general awesomeness. So please do not disappoint. Kthx, Me.

To assist in the general awesome-making that I'm forecasting for this month, let's start things out with a List O' Happy shall we?

:: Glee!!! Specifically, the Glee cast will be doing a four city tour this summer!!! And they're kicking it off in Phoenix on May 18!!! This is VERY exciting! Who wants to go with me??? *bats eyelashes*

:: If you have not yet checked out the video of Adam Lambert jamming a completely kick-ass, musically genius acoustic version of 'Whole Lotta Love' at Saturday's Fantasy Springs show, believe me when I tell you that YOUR LIFE IS INCOMPLETE! Seriously. Go. Now. I'll wait. ... See??? Wasn't that AMAZING! I'm still working on recovering the completely blown pieces of my mind. It's probably a futile effort. I may never be the same.

:: Baseball!!!!!!!! Spring Training starts tomorrow! I probably won't be able to get to a game until Saturday. But, just knowing that baseball is being played makes me HAPPY!

I got word that I got picked in the lottery the D'backs were having in order to purchase tickets for the games against the Yankees this season. I'm sure they will sell out, so I think I'm going to snag my tickets now. Also, I'm considering taking Monday, April 5th off so that I can make it to the afternoon home opener. I have a huge mediation later that week, but if I prep early then maybe I can pull it off. What? This is important!!!

:: Apparently it is Jensen Ackles birthday today. Happy birthday, man! I may have fallen out of love with your show but I still think you're ridiculously pretty and I hope you had a kick ass day!

:: These outtakes of Vanity Fair's interview and photo shoot with Johnny Weir sort of made my day! After the Olympics I have the world championships in Italy and then I’m going to take a vacation to Mongolia because I want to ride a yak. *laughs and laughs* How did I end up fangirling a figure skater??? I live in the motherfucking desert and have never even seen an ice rink in person! Whatever, man. This boy is fabulous and I'm keeping him!
