All I really wanted out of life today was a fruit smoothing for lunch. But I had to go through three different blending mechanisms before finding one that would work! Why so difficult, Life???

I did, however, eventually attain my fruit smoothie and it was delish! So I guess life is good today. This, I suppose, is the benefit of having such low expectations. *g*

Now that I've reached the peak of my day with a fruit smoothie, the rest of it seems significantly less awesome: I have to tighten up my resume and start the dreadful process of looking for a damn job. Oh, and I have to go grocery shopping and pay bills. See? I told you it would be all down hill from the fruit smoothie!

So, before I get to all that, let's talk about things that are BETTERER! Like the AMAZING anti-hate protest that happened at Adam Lambert's concert this weekend in Springfield, MO! The idiots at Westboro Baptist Church had announced that they'd be protesting Adam's show. But instead fans and counter-protesters showed up with their awesome signs and in the end the hate-mongers didn't een bother to show up and it turned into a celebration of love and tolerance and freedom of expression and all the awesome things that Adam stands for! Adam even went out before his show to thank them and autograph their counter-protest signs! It was pretty damn fabulous to watch unfold!

And then Adam took the stage and THIS HAPPENED! )

I'm not sure how it is even possible, but the pretty factor was ridiculously high this weekend. )

And, well, hi, HELLOOOO THERE, Adam! *g*

Photobucket

Speaking of, um, that view, I have four Glam Nation shows in September -- Houston, New Orleans, and two Atlanta shows! And except for the last Atlanta show which is GA, I have front row center seats for all of them!!!!!!!!! Eeeee!!!!!! Life is going to be a hell of a lot better than a fruit smoothie in September!!!

fun friday!

Aug. 6th, 2010 11:26 am
It's Friday!!! Although, I discovered this morning that Friday doesn't carry the same level of excitement when you haven't been slogging through work for the previous five days. *shrugs* Oh, well. It's still FRIDAY!!! I think Friday's, whether or not they come at the end of a work week, should be full of fun and sparkly things!

:: [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and I made a completely unplanned trip to Albuquerque on Tuesday for Adam Lambert's show. It was at a teeny-tiny theater that only held about 800 people, we found out Monday night around 11 that we could buy tickets off of someone, it was only about a 7 hour drive, my calendar was suddenly completely clear *g*, so we figured, what the hell. SPONTANEITY FTW!!!

It was a little weird to discover that this Albuquerque crowd was probably the rudest, most obnoxious GA crowd I've been in, including metal shows! Seriously, 300 pound dude, there's no need to push over a 12 year old girl to get closer to the stage. She's about 4 feet tall and weighs all of 90 pounds soaking wet; I'm sure you can see just fine standing behind her. And really, people, this was Adam Lambert we're watching; WE SPARKLE WE DON'T MOSH!!! Ugh. There were so many people thrown out, and I ended up getting the 12 year olds in front of me so that I could at least keep some of the rude shoving and pushing off of them.

But despite the rude and obnoxious crowd (which is really SO strange for an Adam show, as just about everyone else I've encountered has been super nice), there were some awesome people there too. I ended up partying it up standing next to the most gorgeous gay couple in Albuquerque, seriously these boys were SO pretty and touchy and distracting even with Adam on the stage! And the adorable gay teenager in front of us in line who was just as excited to see Tommy as he was Adam and who was practically vibrating with joy after the show filled me with glee!!! And the show was AMAZING!!! Vicki and I had a blast!

:: So You Think You Can Dance!!!! I'm so pleased with the final three. With the exception of Alex who was knocked out by injury and Billy Bell, who was eliminated last week, these were my favorites from the start. I was driving home on Wednesday night, so I didn't get to watch the performance episode, but I finally found Kent and Neil's contemporary piece, choreographed by Travis Wall. I might have watched this about a dozen times already, and if you haven't seen it yet, I'm sorry about your life! GodDAMN. Those three boys make magic together.

:: Cheeks as the gay equivalent of Blanche Devereaux in a theater remake of The Golden Girls!!!! This sounds like the most fantastically hilarious thing ever!!! There is no way that [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and I are not going to be there for this epic fabulosity!
Life has gone from good crazy to just plain crazy this week, but I'm steadfastly refusing to concentrate on anything but the sparkly until next week. So, let's talk about Adam! *beams*

I flew into Burbank on Tuesday to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva for the two shows in Orange County. We had so much fun!!! On Tuesday night I had upgraded our tickets to 5th row, center, in the pit. The seats in the pit were crammed in so tight you could barely move, so it was a good thing that security let those seated there rush the stage and stand at the barricade, otherwise it would have been impossible to dance. And, really, how anyone can sit through this show without being compelled to get up out of their seats and shake their ass is beyond my ability to comprehend. Believe me, J and I danced. *g*

Costa Mesa is the closest that this tour is getting to L.A. (at least as the schedule currently stands), so it was very much a hometown crowd for Adam and all the band and dancers and they all had lots of family and friends in the crowd. And, OMG, they all looked so freakin' HAPPY. Adam had this silly grin on his face for a good part of the show! And, even though the sound mix was a little off that night (hello! I'd really like to be able to actually hear Monte during his guitar solo!), it was still just so much FUN watching them have so much FUN!

Costa Mesa - July 27, 2010 )

On Wednesday, [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ joined us. The shows were part of the OC Fair, so we spent the afternoon at the fair, checking out the exhibits, avoiding anything fried on a stick, drinking frozen margaritas, and just catching up and enjoying some much needed hanging out time! It was awesome! Before the show, we found a table and some wine, and I did up our make-up and glitterfied the three of us in the middle of the fair! We were very sparkly! *g*

I had an AMAZING view. I made friends with the security folks on my side of the pit and they let me stand at the edge of the barricade on Tommy's side of the stage, actually kind of between the barricade and the stage. The sound mix was thankfully much better on Wednesday night. And everyone was just on FIRE! Monte jumped into the pit for one of his guitars solos. Tommy was looking especially pretty. Adam's vocals were stunning. It was fantastic! And Adam's encore of Whole Lotta Love that night is my favorite next to Fantasy Springs. Just incredible!

Costa Mesa - July 28, 2010 )

Costa Mesa was DAMN GOOD TIMES!!! Now I need to get ready so I can make my flight to San Diego in a few hours. [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva has promised me tequila shots and believe me when I tell you I can use them. Tomorrow I fly back home, meet up with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon at the airport, and then dance until my feet fall off at the Lady Gaga concert! And then on Sunday, another Glam Nation show here in Tempe. After that, I'm planning on sleeping for days. As soon as that happens, I'll come back and fill y'all in on how life outside of Glam Nation is sucking hard. But, for now, I'm gonna get my glitter on, hang with my girls, drink myself silly, and dance until I just can't anymore! *nods*
I think that my show recaps are pretty much going to go something like this every time: ADAM LAMBERT BLEW MY FUCKING MIND INTO ITTY BITTY BLISSED OUT GLITTERY BITS!!!!! AGAIN!!!

I had such a blast in Denver, mostly because I got to share it all with [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva. We had AMAZING seats -- dead center in the fifth row. J is really channeling the ticket mojo for Glam Nation. *g* We chatted up all the folks around us who were all kinds of good times! I was especially amused by the cute gay boy behind us who was like this crazy mash up of Kris Allen's looks (plaid shirt included!) and Cheeks' personality (his snarky one liners were definitely for our entertainment!). J and I danced our asses off and basically had the best time ever! J wrote all about our time in Denver and the show HERE. I'll just have y'all go read what she said, reiterate my very eloquent and effusive show recap above, and get right on to the pictures. *g*

Allison Iraheta. Have I mentioned that this girl can ROCK??! )

I wish this picture was sharper. But, oh my heart, look at his FAAAACE!!!! His SMILE fills my heart with happy!!!!

Seriously, Adam. How so pretty, bb? *loves*

Thumbnails of high-res versions of all my Denver photos. )

After the show the good times continued when J and I met up with [livejournal.com profile] rhythmsextion for drinks. She is a complete sweetheart!!! It was so much fun hanging out with her and chatting and just generally having a fantabulous time! In short, Denver was FABULOUS!
I'm in Denver tonight, in town for tomorrow night's Glam Nation show. But before that happens, I figured I better post my thoughts (which mostly go something like: aldkjalkdjfiajdkfjaslk!!!!!) and my pictures (which weren't many since I was busy getting my mind completely blown) from the Louisville show.

So, to follow conventional wisdom and start at the beginning, Allison Iraheta was the first opener and let me just say that this child can sing! I have no idea why she isn't seeing bigger record sales or headlining her own shows, because she's amazing. She's gotten so much more comfortable on the stage since the Idols tour last summer. And, yeah, she can SING! Her set left me wanting more. But since there were two opening acts, Allison's set was way too short. Orianthi was up next. Orianthi's thing is the guitar. She's some sort of guitar prodigy, who's played with the likes of Santana and Steve Vai, and was Michael Jackson's lead guitarist for This Is It. And the girl can shred the hell outa the guitar. What she hasn't quite gotten the hang of yet, though, is being the front person. She's kinda boring, actually, when she's not creating magic on the guitar. Consequently her set felt eternal. So I was actually happy to hear today that she's cancelling the rest of her Glam Nation dates. I'm not sure why, but since they've added Allison to many of the remaining dates I'm hoping this means we'll get a longer set from her.

Orianthi's set didn't actually last forever, even though it felt like it, and soon we were waiting for Adam to take the stage. Before that, though, let me just say that Adam's shows make for some of the most fascinating people watching ever! The crowd was actually pretty diverse: teenage girls who haven't quite mastered the art of eye make up but certainly didn't let that stop them; older grandma types, you know, if your grandma happens to wear floor length purple and black zebra striped glittery capes and blinking lights in her gray hair; couples, young and old, with the husbands on their feet and obviously having as good a time as their wives; hot gay boys done up in all manner of fierce and fabulous outfits; and women in their 20s and 30s in sparkling in various degrees of glitter. Fascinating! The greatest thing about the crowd, though? Not the crazy-ass outfits, or the amazing makeup, or the sometimes ridiculous accessories. No. The absolute best thing about the crowd was that every single person was having a fucking blast! Even before Adam took the stage, there was dancing and laughing and getting to know the people around you and big, happy smiles all around!

And then there was Adam. Jfc. And then there was ADAM. He opens with "Voodoo" and then goes into "Down the Rabbit Hole." By the time he gets to "Fever" the crowd is practically delirious. When he kissed Tommy the crowd went from delirious to straight up insane. I think I was most blown away by the acoustic numbers in the middle. He does "Soaked" accompanied only by Cam on the keys, and it was stunning. His voice. Dear gods. There aren't even words. And I was in heaven to finally hear "Aftermath" live. He picks the tempo back up after that and "Sure Fire Winners" and "Music Open" were again amazing, as were the closing number, "If I Had You," and the encore of "Whole Lotta Love." The energy during the entire show was amazing. I'm not sure if he does it consciously or not, but he really works the energy reciprocity -- building it up, bringing it back down, just letting it ride and flow -- to make magic. He works with the energy so masterfully I've got to think that he's experienced his share of pagan-ish ecstatic rituals. Whatever, man, it's just fun as hell to ride that energy along with him. *g*

I was too busy getting my mind blown into itty bitty blissed out glittery bits to take a lot of pictures. But here are a few:

More Pictures of Glam Nation in Louisville )

louisville

Jul. 14th, 2010 03:37 pm
I actually DID make it home from Louisville. The rumors of me perishing from glam overload are hugely exaggerated, although it was close there for a moment. I had an absolutely FANTABULOUS time, but since I got back Monday morning, work has been a complete nightmare, so I haven't even had time to come here to flail and toss glitter about and share my pictures and just generally gush about how amazing Adam was and how is just completely blew my mind into tiny, sparkly, glittery bits all over again.

I finally did get my pictures uploaded last night though, so I'm hoping to write a re-cap post later today. I figure as long as I get my Louisville post up before the Denver show on Saturday I'm still technically ahead of schedule. *g*

Other than the glittery, mind-blowing awesomeness that was Glam Nation, I also got the chance to spend all of Sunday with two friends who I hadn't seen in over three years. Carole and Jerry are two of the most kind-hearted, beautiful, spiritual people I know and it was so wonderful to spend the entire day talking and catching up and just enjoying each others' company. It was completely refreshing and relaxing. I love spending time with people who motivate and inspire me to be the best version of myself possible; and that's exactly what they do and they somehow do it while at the same time being 100% accepting and non-judgmental of the me I am now. Plus I got to cuddle with their adorably spoiled golden retriever, Sweetie. So it was in all ways a lovely day that really did my heart good. :)

After being gone all weekend without my computer and dealing with the complete craziness of work once I got back, I am light years behind on LJ; so if something significant is happening in your world, or even if it's not, come tell me what's been happening with you! And I promise to post pretty pictures of Adam and Tommy later! *g*
Great Glittery Gods of Glam! This day needs to just be over already because then I can get on with my Weekend of Glittery Awesomeness! Less than 24 hours to Glam Nation in Louisville!!! *flails*

I'm not at all flaily about my departure time tomorrow though. My flight to Louisville leaves at 6:15! In the morning! In the motherfucking EARLY morning! This means I have to be at the airport before 5:00. I am so NOT cool with that. What the hell was I thinking when I made these plans??? *cries*

Whatever, man. There just better be a hell of a lot of coffee in my life tomorrow.

I haven't packed a damn thing, but since I'm carrying on I can't really take much so it shouldn't take me long. I did get my Flip video camera in on time, though, so I can document every glittery moment! I'm sure y'all will be SO pleased to be able to re-live it all with me later. *g*

*looks at clock* Go faster dammit!

I'm probably just as excited to spend some time with Carole and Jerry, who I haven't seen in about 3 years. Their deck is like a little slice of heaven and one of my favorite things in this world is sitting out there with them, drinking coffee, and discussing the mystery and magic in our world. They are two of the loveliest people I know and I'm so happy that I'll be able to spend some time with them on Sunday.

So, yeah, this weekend I'll be going from glammed out rock to philosophical conversations on the porch. *laughs* Hello, paradox! *g* Now this damn Friday needs to be over so I can get started on all that contradictory awesomeness!
If it weren't for the lack of fire and brimstone, I'd swear I was living in hell. You know, if I believed in hell. Seriously, though, it's 111 degrees outside. That's downright inhospitable. I've been drinking water all day and no matter how much I drink I can't seem to stay hydrated. I'm a parched, sweaty, irritable mess right now. :/ But, on the plus side, I did escape the office early today for a dentist appointment and now I'm home, so at least I can be a parched, sweaty, irritable mess while in my pajamas instead of a suit!

So, Emmy nominations? I was happy to see Glee get so many nods, and I was thrilled to see Kyle Chandler's and Connie Britton's sheer awesomeness finally acknowledged, but what the hell is with Friday Night Lights not getting the nomination for best drama? And True Blood did? Really??? And a big ol' NADA for Sons of Anarchy or Katie Segal??? *boggles* But, plus side! YAY Kyle and Connie and Glee!!!!!

A definite plus for today was the ruling by a federal judge in Massachusetts finding that the federal definition of marriage as only between a man and a woman, as codified in the Defense of Marriage Act, is unconstitutional. The irony is that this decision is from a Nixon appointed judge. And he based his ruling on federalism grounds, finding that DOMA encroaches on the state's right to determine marriage. As my former Ninth Circuit co-clerk put it: I love it when federalism turns around and bites Christian Conservatives in the ass! :D

Also: 48 hours in the Countdown to Glam!!!! PLUS! PLUS! PLUS!!!!!! *g*

Ok, I'm going to go drink more water and sit in front of a fan. I hope y'all are keeping cool today!

hodgepodge

Jul. 6th, 2010 03:21 pm
I had a lovely holiday weekend. I drove down to Tucson for the 4th and spent the day splashing around in the pool, eating yummy food, and drinking delicious adult beverages with the familia. I also got a much needed hair cut from my cousin, who set up the back porch as an outdoor salon and styled and cut just about everyone's hair, all while wearing a bikini and high heels. She has an excellent rack so I think that this would make for a very lucrative business idea! Hell, I'm her cousin and so not interested in her rack in any prurient sense, and still tipped her well for the value added service. *g*

I was offline all weekend, so I'm probably behind on everyone and everything. If something terribly exciting and/or important happened in your life in the past five days, please do let me know.

Otherwise, it's occurred to me that there are a variety of assorted things that I've yet to ramble about here, so I think I'll do that now.

:: Last Thursday the D'backs (finally!) fired A.J. Hinch as Manager and GM Josh Byrnes. If you've not picked up on my deep and abiding hatred for A.J. you've just not been paying attention. I literally let out a whoop of joy when I got the text about the firings. A.J. should never have been managing a major league team and we shouldn't be keeping around a GM who thought that hiring him was a good idea. So, yeah, I'm pretty damn happy that they're both gone. I think Kurt Gibson was the right choice for interim manager and I'm curious to see what the franchise decides to do going forward. No matter what they do, I don't think it's possible to make a worse choice than A.J. Of course, getting rid of the faux-manager and the idiot GM in no way is going to solve all of this team's problems. Let's face it, we're a fucking mess. But it's certainly a good start, and I'm glad to see the D'backs ownership finally make that move.

:: I'm not sure what it is with me and technology lately, but the Electronic Gods seem to be angry with me. First it was my laptop that had a complete meltdown. Almost $200 and two weeks later, and it's finally back and in working order. Then today I discover that my iPod has apparently suffered some type of stroke. It's still playing, but my screen is completely out and the menu function doesn't work; so I can only play what I was playing when it was last working properly. Now y'all know that I love Adam Lambert like WHOA, but I'm thinking that at some point soon I'll want to listen to something else. I found a used, but functional iPod on eBay at a relatively cheap price that I'm hoping will hold me over until I potentially get an iPhone next year. But, seriously, what do I need to do to get back in the Electronic Gods' good favor again???

Speaking of electronic gadgets, though, I did order that Flip video camera and it should be arriving this week -- here's hoping it's resistant to this electronics curse I'm suffering under.

:: I got caught up on Friday Night Lights yesterday, and, really, I don't think it's possible for me to love this show any more. Coach Taylor continues to be one of my favorite male characters on t.v. right now. Also, Coach Taylor soaking wet on the sidelines is a beautiful thing! And the Riggins brothers continue to be well intentioned but incredibly stupid and I don't know what it says about me that I obviously have a soft spot for that kind of thing! And I want to be Mrs. T when I grow up. Seriously, she's just awesome in every way. And I'm really liking the diversity in the new characters and I'm enjoying the layers that are slowly being added to these new faces. In short, I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

:: Another show that I'm really diggin' is Drop Dead Diva. It's pure fluff, but it's enjoyable fluff. And I love that the main character is plus size, and yet the show isn't treating her or her story lines as if "plus size" is the only or even the main defining characteristic.

:: IN FOUR DAYS I WILL BE GETTING MY GLAM NATION ON!!!!! Louisville this weekend! So exciting!!! *throws glitter*

july!!!

Jul. 1st, 2010 12:59 pm
Hello, July!!! You're finally here!

I'm expecting fantabulous things from this month. It's going to be the sparkliest, most glamtastic month of all! No, really! It is! Look! )

Eeeee!!!! *bounces* Only 10 days to glitter and glam!!!

And even before that, July gets sparkly, with a MUCH needed three-day weekend coming up! Dear gods, do I ever need this weekend. I'll be going to Tucson on Sunday to enjoy the 4th pool-side! With fruity adult beverages! And yummy food! Good times!

Yesterday, the NOH8 campaign announced that they'll be doing an open photo shoot in Scottsdale on the 12th:

Photobucket

I think this sounds like fun! Anyone want to join me?

So, yeah, lots of awesomeness in July. But the most awesome, sparkly, glitterific part of July is that this is the month that we celebrate the amazing [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva!!! Technically, today is her day, but, really, when you're talking about a woman who is THAT smart, sexy, and strong, a month-long celebration is definitely called for. *g* J, baby, I am so infinitely thankful to have you in my life. You are beautiful and brilliant and I cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for you! And I am absolutely thrilled to be sharing so much of this month's glittertasticness with you! You are a sister of my heart. I cherish your friendship and I love you like mad! Happy birthday, baby! *mwah*

plus sides

Today was rough, man. Way too little sleep, a ridiculously early morning in court, a deposition most of the afternoon, deadlines pressing in, clients being more difficult than normal, attorneys who think that rudeness and antagonism are the same as zealous advocacy, hard won resolutions unraveling at the last minute, and way too many fires to put out in one 12 hour work day. I'm wiped. And I'm SO ready for the long weekend.

Thankfully, Adam and Tommy have been a reliable happy place lately:

Photobucket

Yeah, if that doesn't just make your world a better place, I don't know what will. *g*

More of that kinda happy. )

I came home and managed to stay awake for So You Think You Can Dance. And I'm very glad I did, otherwise I would have missed Alex Wong dancing the hell outa that incredible hip hop routine with Twitch! Where the hell did that come from??? Ah-may-zing!

The boys are so good this season, I'm having a hard time picking a favorite. Jose and Kent are ADORABLE! I want to bring them home and pet them and feed them cookies and just be dazzled by their smiles! And Billy Bell is just SO crazy good. Alex blew me away tonight. And even Robert, who I didn't like so much in the beginning, is starting to charm me.

And I realized tonight that a definite plus side to the girls being so MEH this year and getting booted sooner is that they will have to pair the male contestants with male all-stars more often, and, hopefully, come up with some truly brilliantly creative (and HOT, let's definitely bring the hot!) all male partnered dance routines. Um, yes, please! *g*

So, basically the pretty boys saved the day. What's new? *laughs*
1. Thank you all for the yummy suggestions for what to do with my abundance of apples! Such delicious options! I'll definitely be trying the apple cake once it's not a billion degrees here. I took some of your suggestions and combined them to create what turned out to be a very yummy Apple Granola Salad! I cored and cut up 6 apples, squeezed some lemon juice on them to keep them from browning, added a handful of green grapes and another handful of red grapes, about a 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt, a little Splenda, and about 3/4 cup of homemade granola. It turned out fantabulous! And it was even better the second day once the honey in the granola had mixed in and the granola had softened a bit. Next time I might add some cranberries, raisins, or even pineapple chunks. But, in all, very YUM!

2. My Computer Guy is doing the last minute wellness checks as I type. I should have it back and functional by the time I leave the office tonight. This is very happy-making! Laptop, I've missed you! *clings*

3. Since February I've lost 35 pounds as a result of my Take Better Care of Me plan! I went shopping this past weekend and learned that I've dropped two pant sizes. Go me!!! Taking better care of me is definitely resulting in a healthier and happier ME!!! Yay! :D

4. I have some Adam Lambert Glam Nation concert tickets to re-sell: 2 tickets to the San Diego show on July 30th (Main Floor, Left Center, Row J) and 1 ticket to the July 28th Costa Mesa show (Section 1, Row F). If any of you know of anyone looking for tickets, send them my way. :)

5. The countdown to glam is now at 11 days!!! *bounces*
13 days until my first Glam Nation show!!!!!!!!!!! *bounces*

That is all. Carry on. *g*
Today's happiness, let me tell you about it! *g*

First, last night there was this:

Photobucket

Thank you, boys, for the epic degrees of fanservice you are dishing up on this tour. Please feel free to lick each other any time the mood strikes. *g*

And then there are the plans for N'awlins shenanigans in September that are underway! I managed to put all my lawyerly skills to bear and persuade [livejournal.com profile] azewewish to join me and [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva for said shenanigans. Or, you know, NOT REALLY. Because, really, she did not put up much resistance. *g* But, OMG, New Orleans, and Adam, and Adam and Tommy licking each others' faces, and Saints football, and Jeremy Shockey's abs and ink, and beignets, and ME AND MY GIRLS RAISING HELL IN N'AWLINS!!!!! I might be a little bit excited about this. *g*

And then there's all the World Cup related excitement. I, sadly, missed this mornings amazing U.S. win because I had to be in court. Nevertheless, GO USA!!! I hope those boys are celebrating properly, which, you know, should include lots of post-game adrenaline fueled sex. *g*

ETA:

More awesome picspam of pretty boys celebrating (sadly NOT with hot, post-game adrenaline fueled sex) HERE. (Link courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mistresscurvy.)

But the HAPPIEST part of today involves one adorable and ridiculously hot POCKET IDOL!!! KRIS!!!!!! Tonight! I'll be skipping out of work early to drive down to Tucson with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck. We plan on getting lost on the way to the Rialto (dear gods, I've never managed to make it there without getting lost and then accidentally finding it!), and then we plan on stalking accidentally running into Kris and the band (what? it totally could happen by coincidence! *g*), and then we plan on ROCKING OUR FACES OFF at the show!!! Good times, people, this is sure to be damn good times.
My laptop is ill. Very ill, apparently. My Computer Guy has told me that the prognosis is not looking good. He's still working on it tonight, so I won't know for sure until tomorrow, but I may be in the market for a new laptop. In which case, I'm really considering switching to a Mac. So, flisters, any of you Mac users? Any of you recently made the jump from PC to Mac? Anyone know whether I'll be able to keep all my music files if I switch or how I'd do that? Tell me all about it!

In other less than awesome news, Russell Crowe and TOFOG won't be touring this summer after all. This is the message he just Tweeted about:

Folks,
after much tooing and froing and an unavoidable changes in other responsibilities, I am very sorry to tell you that The Ordinary Fear of God will not be touring in August this year.
Sentimentally it would have been great to mark the tenth anniversary of when we first played in Austin, but in reality it's not as important as other things.
You will be pleased to know though that Alan and I have locked in for May next year. We will be touring for 4 weeks. Sorry to those that are disappointed but we will make it up to you next May. - RC

That sort of blows. For many reasons, including the fact that he was my excuse to get to Austin and visit [livejournal.com profile] annkiri this summer. But now, at least, I can stop putting the entire month of August on hold waiting for Russell to announce tour dates. And I know what I'll be doing next May. *g*

And, thanks to Adam, I will still get to see [livejournal.com profile] annkiri this summer as she will be joining me for his Houston show! Just doing my part spreading the glitter and loveliness for all. *g*

So, yeah, some craptasticness today. But THIS has definitely been my happy place:

Photobucket
From here, with thanks to [livejournal.com profile] idiosyncratic for the link.

*bites lip*
1. Cramps suck the joy right out of my day. DNW. And there is apparently not enough ibuprofen in the world to make them go away today. Owie!

2. NOOOOO!!!! The D'backs traded Conor Jackson to the A's for a RHP that, unless he's the second coming of Christ, is not going to have enough miracle in him to fix the complete clusterfuck that is our bullpen. My annoyance with our front office knows no bounds right now. *glares* Mostly though, I'M GONNA MISS CONNOR'S PRETTY FAAAAACE!!! *sadface*

3. Adam Lambert is coming to my neighborhood!!!!! Almost quite literally. He's playing the Marquee Theater in Tempe on August 1st. You damn well better know that I'll be there. *g* It's a GA show, and if [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and I can elbow are way to within a few feet of the stage for a Down show, Glamberts stand no chance against me! *evil cackle* 5 cities, 7 Glam Nation shows, plus Gaga. July is going to be the best month ever! Or, you know, it will completely kill me. Either way, I cannot wait!

4. If you haven't seen Adam's music video for 'If I Had You,' GO NOW! Makes me wanna dance under the moon! What? Just me? Sorry for your life if you've never done this!!! *g*

5. How to silence the annoying buzzing noise so you can watch the World Cup without wanting to kill someone. I've not tried this yet and it looks a good deal more complicated than the mute button, but it might be worth the trouble in order to get commentary to a sport I only really watch for the hot guys. *g*

6. I did an upper body workout yesterday and today I can barely lift my pen. I may have overdone it. :(

7. There's apparently race!fail in SPN fandom again. I don't know many of the details, but it has me thinking about how characters of color are written in general that I'll probably put up in a separate post later because I'd love to have a discussion with all the smart people, and particularly all the smart writers, on my flist about it. But, if you have thoughts on or links to the current kerfluffle, I welcome the edumacation!

ETA: A few more things:
8. Adam has announced a show in New Orleans!!!!! September 12! GLAM NATION IN NOLA!!!! Fuck yeah! I haven't been to New Orleans since October before last, so this definitely calls for at least a long weekend of shenanigans in that most awesome of cities! Who's with me???

9. Goddamn Matthew Morrison. *bites lip*

33 days until my first Glam Nation show!!!! *flails*

I did all of my trip planning this weekend, booked all my flights, made all my hotel reservations. Which practically guarantees that they'll now announce new dates for L.A., Phoenix and New Orleans, and completely fuck up all my plans! *laughs*

But, as of now, this is what my July Glam Nation plans look like:

>> Saturday, July 10th: Louisville, KY, with a bonus Sunday visit with Carole and Jerry who I haven't seen in more than 3 years!

>> Saturday, July 17th: Denver, CO. I'm flying in on Friday night and staying through Sunday so that I can enjoy a nice visit in Denver. Any of my Denver flisters want to meet for coffee/drinks/general fangirling???

>> Friday, July 23rd: San Francisco, CA. My mom is going with me and we're going to spend the rest of the weekend taking in the city! I'm SO looking forward to this!

>> Tuesday & Wednesday, July 27th 28th: Costa Mesa, CA (OC Fair). Finally a show with MY GIRLS!!!! [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and I will be going to both and [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ will be joining us on Wednesday. I'm sure there will also be something fried on a stick, since it is a fair. *g*

>> Friday, July 30th: San Diego, CA. [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva will again be rocking this show with me, as will [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz. Good times!!!

Whew! That's 6 shows in 5 cities in 4 weeks! Awesomeness!!!

The tour started Friday in Willkes-Barre, PA. I'm trying to resist the tour vids until after my first show (it's hard to do!), but I did enjoy the general flailing on my Twitter feed, and if these pictures are any indication, the show is AMAZING!

Glam Nation: First Look )

Goddamn that looks FABULOUS! It needs to be July already!!!
Dear D'backs: You're freakin' KILLING me! Please to be getting your shit together. Until such time as you do, I'm afraid I can no longer speak to you.

Dear Facebook: I can't decide if your insistence on connecting me with old high school friends makes me feel really old or makes me feel really good because they all look really old. Seriously, some of them look as if they've dragged their way through the last 20 years ON THEIR FACE! Since I get to decide, I think I shall choose the later. *preens* In any case, thanks for the amusement!

Dear Glee: You are AWESOME!!! That is all.

Dear Glam Nation Tour: I LOVE YOU!!! You're rumored to be some sort of "turn of century New Orleans meets classic rock" that "starts w/ seduction, journeys into the unknown then heartbreak, honesty and ends w/ celebration, joy, love." I have NO idea what the hell that means! *g* But I can't wait to rock out with your awesome, glittery, glamtastic goodness!*

Dear Glam Nation Tour Organizers: Where the hell is my L.A. date, fuckers??? And while we're at it, give me Phoenix and New Orleans too! I have to plan my LIFE around this tour, dammit!

* For those of you playing along at home, the current tally is 4 Glam Nation stops: Denver, Costa Mesa (twice) and San Diego. (!!!!!!) I am still considering Louisville. And, goddammit, I need dates for L.A., Phoenix, and New Orleans! And, yes, I will be self-surrendering to glam rehab at the end of the summer. *g*

june

Nearly half of 2010 is gone! How in the hell did that happen so quickly???

Does anyone do mid-year reassessments? What have I done this year? What do I still need to do? What changes have worked? What needs tweaking?

No? Just me then. :) Virgo with Libra rising -- this should not come as a surprise to anyone! *laughs*

Anyway, in thinking about all those things and how my word for the year, PUSH, has shaped 2010 so far and what still needs pushing in the second half of the year, I've been considering taking a Landmark class later this year, either in August or October. But before I do, since my flist is an amazing group with a wide variety of interests and experiences, I thought I'd check in with y'all to see if anyone has ever worked with Landmark and has any thoughts or experiences to share. What do y'all think? *curious*

So, June. Right now, this month feels like a 30 day delay between now and all the glittery good times scheduled for July. But that's unacceptable! Must live in the moment! So we gotta make June rock all on its own!

For starters, Miike Snow is in concert this Saturday at The Clubhouse. I have NO idea how to pronounce their name, but I like to think of them as so cool they need an extra "i"! *g* Also, their music is freakin' fantastic! So, who wants to join me on Saturday??? *beams*

This month also has Pocket Idol!!! [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck and I are trekking to Tucson on the 23rd to see Kris Allen do his thang at the Rialto Theater. Exciting!!! There's still room in my car if anyone wants to join us! *tempts*

So, yeah, let's do this thing, June! *resolves to make it a damn good month*

Ok, so looking past June for a moment, there was a recent interview with Adam where he talks about opening his show with "Voodoo" and how he decided to have that sort of be the theme of Glam Nation, a voodoo, New Orleans kinda vibe. Which has led to speculation that perhaps he'll close the tour in New Orleans, or at the very least, have a show there. Which leads me to think that there must be a New Orleans trip in my near future!!!! Hookers, what do y'all think? It's been waaaay too long since we were last in NOLA, and this seems like the perfect reason to correct that! Y/Y/Motherfucking YES????

And, also, THIS!

[Bigger here.]

Unf. Seriously, though, how is he so fucking fabulous??? Lee Cherry took that photo, by the way, which just goes to prove, yet again, that Adam has the most amazingly talented friends.

Ok, I've rambled long enough. Now I wanna hear about you! Tell me what's happening in your JUNE!
