I'm thinking of hiring a resume writing service to polish up my resume a bit. The job market is super competitive right now, and I just want to know that my resume is as sharp as it can be. Has anyone here ever used a resume writing service? Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd prefer a service that dealt specifically with the legal profession, but I'm willing to consider others as long as their writers have good credentials.
i'm a pc. (but i might not be for long)
Jun. 22nd, 2010 06:52 pmMy laptop is ill. Very ill, apparently. My Computer Guy has told me that the prognosis is not looking good. He's still working on it tonight, so I won't know for sure until tomorrow, but I may be in the market for a new laptop. In which case, I'm really considering switching to a Mac. So, flisters, any of you Mac users? Any of you recently made the jump from PC to Mac? Anyone know whether I'll be able to keep all my music files if I switch or how I'd do that? Tell me all about it!
In other less than awesome news, Russell Crowe and TOFOG won't be touring this summer after all. This is the message he just Tweeted about:
Folks,
after much tooing and froing and an unavoidable changes in other responsibilities, I am very sorry to tell you that The Ordinary Fear of God will not be touring in August this year.
Sentimentally it would have been great to mark the tenth anniversary of when we first played in Austin, but in reality it's not as important as other things.
You will be pleased to know though that Alan and I have locked in for May next year. We will be touring for 4 weeks. Sorry to those that are disappointed but we will make it up to you next May. - RC
That sort of blows. For many reasons, including the fact that he was my excuse to get to Austin and visit
annkiri this summer. But now, at least, I can stop putting the entire month of August on hold waiting for Russell to announce tour dates. And I know what I'll be doing next May. *g*
And, thanks to Adam, I will still get to see
annkiri this summer as she will be joining me for his Houston show! Just doing my part spreading the glitter and loveliness for all. *g*
So, yeah, some craptasticness today. But THIS has definitely been my happy place:

From here, with thanks to
idiosyncratic for the link.

May. 13th, 2010 09:05 pmI have at least half of Season 5 of "Supernatural" sitting on my DVR unwatched. I haven't deleted them because I've been waiting for the end of the season and my flist's reaction to decide whether I'm going to watch them and probably even whether I'm going to stick around for the 6th season. I wanna love this show again and at least see it through the five seasons we all hoped we'd get back in season 1, but I'm wary. So, dear flist, it's up to you. Yes or no? Were you satisfied with the season finale? Or were you disappointed? Will watching the rest of this season make me want to stick it out for season 6? Is Dean still ridiculously pretty and does Sam still have the sexiest puppy dog eyes ever? Tell me! [I'm not concerned about being spoiled, obviously. *g*]
Gramatical Query
Mar. 15th, 2009 08:46 pmDear Oh So Smart and Oh So Helpful Flist:
I need your smart helpfulness with a grammatical conundrum. The Word Grammar Check and I are at an impasse over which sentence is correct:
Neither the scarf nor the hat go with this dress.
OR

Comic Con related plea for help.
Jul. 22nd, 2008 01:23 pmI'm packing. Or at least I'm trying to. But this will be my first turn at Comic Con, and despite having heard all the tales of geekery and surving the hordes of same, I don't really know what to expect. Which, more immediately, means I don't really know what to pack!!! *panic* Other than the usual travel necessities, I have comfortable walking shoes and an extra carry on bag. So I ask you, Comic Con veterans, what else should I plan on bringing with me?
