Happy Monday, everyone! It's a new week. A clean slate. What are we gonna do with it??? I say let's rock the hell outa it! *beams*

Before I get to this week's plans, though, let me tell y'all about my awesome weekend. I spent Saturday with The Nieces, teaching them the finer points of power shopping! It's never too early to develop the skills necessary for effective retail therapy. *g* I managed to get Rhyan's Halloween costume (she's going to be the most adorable Tinkerbell ever!) and to find all of the accessories I needed for my vintage get up. Yay! Lots of shoe, clothes and toy purchases later, we dragged ourselves home and put two very exhausted girls to bed. It was a good day!

On Sunday I got to have brunch with one of my oldest friends on the planet! I hadn't seen Sara in over five years and yet we picked back up as if we had just seen each other last week! We talked and laughed and talked some more -- it was SO good to reconnect.

And, as a nice bonus, I found a great new (or new to me) place for brunch -- The Farmhouse in Gilbert. The food was so yummy! Plus Mimosas made with fresh squeezed OJ! Delish!

The rest of Sunday was all about sports. It was nice to see the Cardinals play the way I know they can. And having Matt Hasselbeck on my t.v. screen was not bad either. Especially as he was pissed off through most of the game and that boy just gets exponentially hotter when he's angry. *g* Matt Leinart took a few snaps and he's looking damn fine too. And how awesome was it to see the Phillies hand the Dodgers their collective asses? Very awesome, I tell you! Shane Victorino you continue to be made of awesome -- you, your HRs, and your adorable dimples can definitely stay!

Anyway. As I was saying, I'm planning on rocking the hell outa this week. Or, at a minimum, not allow myself to be pwned by it, like I have been lately. Baby steps, and all. Work is likely to be busy, as I've got depositions and deadlines and all manner of things on my to do list. But! On the bright side, it'll only be a four day week for me as I jet off to L.A. on Friday for what is sure to be a fantabulous weekend with my girls! *bounces* So, whatcha say? Shall we make it a good one? :)

outa steam

Sep. 29th, 2009 08:18 pm
Man, I'm wiped. I went in to the office today around mid-morning and managed to make it to 4:30 before I completely ran out of steam. I'll probably do the same tomorrow -- go in, but for only whatever part of the day I can manage. I've really got too much work not to, and, as long as I don't push it, I think it's actually good for me to get up and do something. For now, though, I'm not moving from this couch unless the damn house is on fire!

All in all, though, today was definitely a step forward in the getting-better plan! Yay! And I think all this progress call for a HAPPY LIST! \o/

:: I think we are finally done with the million degree weather! Today was supposed to be the last triple digit day of the year. Nighties and eighties, here we come! I'm breaking out the sweaters now!

:: I won the auction for Cassidy Haley's "Nostalgia" CD, an exclusive one off CD of his unreleased material!!! I'm ridiculously excited about this! I cannot even tell you. I can't wait to hear what's on this thing! (Although we shall not speak about what I was willing to bid for this thing. I'm going to blame it on the residual effects of all the narcotics I've been on.)

:: I had THE best peach for lunch today. It was huge, and juicy, and DELICIOUS! Yum!

:: [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva rocks my world! First there was the lovely vase of cheerful flowers and get-well wishes that arrived on Saturday. So pretty! And then today I came home from work to find yummy smelly stuffs from her for my birthday! J, baby, that was perfect! I love that scent so much! THANK YOU!!! *mwah*

:: The day got about a million times better this evening when I was able to have a lovely and long over due phone chat with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon! Love you, baby, and I can't wait to see you soon!

:: Speaking of seeing awesome peoples soon, I think I'll be heading to L.A. for a weekend in October! Hookers, I understand there are some Halloween plans at Cicada Club in the works? Count me in! *beams*

*sighs happily* That's a good deal of happy-makin' for one day.

And, for some added miscellany, y'all remember those pictures of Adam Lambert in New Orleans, right? Well, a few more have cropped up. And Adam and his adorable boyfriend are still adorable. And amusing. Despite the unfortunate facial hair and questionable fashion choices. But the lesson I think we all should learn from these pictures has nothing to do with shaving practices, Just For Men hair dye, or shirts with sleeves. No, I think what we've all learned is that 98% of [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai members need to step away from the computer and TAKE A DAMN VACATION TO NEW ORLEANS!!! I was appalled at how many people had no idea what Adam meant when he twittered about the Big Easy! Or who couldn't recognize Pat O'Brien's by the drinks on the table or who had no idea what a hand grenade was!!! Seriously, people, y'all need to get out more! *laughs*

Ok, I'm going back to slothful recovery now. Hope y'all are having a good week!
Thank you so much for all the birthday love yesterday! The texts, twitters, posts, v-gifts, cards, and emails absolutely made my day! And all of you absolutely MAKE MY LIFE! Seriously, I am blessed beyond measure with the most amazing friends and I am grateful every day that you're in my life.

My birthday was pretty damn awesome. First there was the weekend of birthday shenanigans with my L.A. girls, which was all kinds of fabulous. Then last weekend [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah came up on Saturday for a day of mojitos and shopping. She managed to get me hooked on Drop Dead Diva and we had a great time doing some long overdue catching up and hanging out! Then on Tuesday night, [livejournal.com profile] annkiri made a layover at my place on her way back home and any time spent in her lovely company is a good time!

Yesterday I came in to work late, so that I could squeeze in a few more hours with Becca. When I finally did get to the office, there were beautiful flowers waiting for me on my desk. They are making my office smell so good! The staff bought me a carrot cake, which we delved into at lunch. After work, my family took me out to dinner to my favorite Mexican restaurant. There were, unsurprisingly I'm sure, many margaritas involved in the birthday celebrations! Rianna was super excited to give me the birthday card she picked out for me. It played the chicken dance song when you opened it up, so Rianna and Rhyan spent the evening dancing around to my birthday card! It was hilarious! My brother and sister-in-law obviously know me well, because their birthday presents to me were a bottle of Patron tequila and Sprinkles cupcakes! *laughs* They just needed to have it delivered by a hot stripper and it would have been all of my favorite things in one awesome gift!!! My mom also knows me well, as she got me the perfume I've been wanting for forever and not one, but FOUR gorgeous bags! (I've got a ridiculous thing for purses!) I had a difficult time deciding which one to use this morning! But it's a problem I like having. :)

And while not technically birthday related, [livejournal.com profile] highdreams made me an amazing Adam header and saved me from me technical ineptitude by customizing my layout for me! Check it! [livejournal.com profile] moonmelody!!! I love it muchly!!!

Speaking of Adam and all my birthday-related awesomeness, this weekend [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and I go to the Kansas City show, which is definitely my birthday gift to me. I am so excited I can barely contain myself!!!

So, yes, my birthday rocked. And I'm expecting no less from the year ahead. Who's with me? :)
I've been buried in work since I got back from vacation, but it IS Friday and last weekend was KICK AWESOME, so I'm calling it a win!

Let's see if I can manage the Cliff Notes version of vacay: )

In all it was a good time. Thank you, chicas, for an awesome birthday weekend! *mwah*

August

Aug. 3rd, 2009 01:35 pm
Well, hey, hello there, August! Geez. Where the hell did July go? No, matter. August is a fabulous month. Mostly because it's my birthday month, so I feel perfectly justified in a month full of excesses and indulgences!

Even though we're only 3 days in, August is already shaping up to be made of so much awesome! This is what the month looks like for me at the moment:

- This weekend: a much needed pedicure and (also much needed) time to catch up on the million or so errands that are plaguing my to do list.

- On the 14th I head to L.A. for a weekend of awesome birthday shenanigans, including late night birthday dinners, undisclosed birthday surprises of the pampering variety, ogling of Philip Anselmo's Arms of Porn with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish at the Down show on Saturday, and a Glitter & Whips (TM) brunch at the Abbey on Sunday where [livejournal.com profile] aproposofnothin, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon and I will wax rhapsodic about the shininess of Adam Lambert and the glee induced by magical musical boys, and generally make [livejournal.com profile] azewewish roll her eyes at us as many times as possible. *g* Good times!!!

- After that I'll be meeting up with my family for a few days of vacation time at Disneyland and San Diego. Mikey Mouse! Beach time! Exciting!!!

- Sometime during the following week I'll get [livejournal.com profile] annkiri here for a visit! And then [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah will be joining us during the weekend for more birthday shenanigans! Awesome times with awesome friends!

- The following weekend [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and I are embarking on Operation Glitter, with a mad dash to Kansas City to catch the American Idols Live show on August 30th!!! *flails wildly* We have AMAZING seats for the show, and *knock on wood* there is perhaps, maybe, oh, please, let the stars align and the Universe smile upon us to make this happen the possibility of finagling backstage meet and greet passes. Eeeee!!! Either way, I am so ridiculously excited about seeing Adam perform again! You don't even know! It's going to be an awesomely good time with the most wonderful of co-conspirators! *bounces*

And while technically that brings us to the end of August, the Good Times just keep coming!

- Labor Day weekend I'm taking an extra day off of work and heading back to L.A. to see NIN with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish at the Henry Fonda Theater! Trent! Small venue! Longer set! *flail*

Eeee! So much AWESOME planned this month! Plus, you know, MY BIRTHDAY!!! Which is inherently awesome. As am I. *g*

So, now that I've gushed about all the awesomeness happening in my world, tell me something awesome happening in yours!
Well, hello there, JULY!!! You certainly got here fast!

First things first on this hump day: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva!!! You, my dear, are one of the most fiercely intelligent, graceful, self-assured, driven, got-her-shit-together women I know. You are beautiful, inside and out. I respect and admire you so much and I am blessed beyond words to call you my friend. I can't wait to see you on Friday and to spend an entire weekend celebrating your awesomeness! *mwah*

Entirely related to the above, sometimes I think to myself, damn, how did I ever get so lucky to have such an amazing circle of women that I'm just so blessed to call my friends??? And I don't really know the answer to that, but I'm very damn happy that, whatever the reason, I do have some pretty fucking fabulous friends! *loves you all!*

Also related to the above, I am bailing from this pit of hell we call Phoenix tomorrow afternoon for an awesome weekend in Ojai with my girls, enjoying the cooler temps, lazing about the pool, drinking wine, possibly indulging in a massage, and just generally having an amazing, relaxing weekend celebrating the awesomeness of Ms. J. *g* I cannot wait for this to happen!!! Seriously, just the fact that I get to escape these hellish 108 degree temperatures makes me ridiculously happy. But combine that with a long weekend spent in the most fabulous of company, and I'm positively GIDDY!

In other awesome news, and not coincidentally, also related to the aforementioned fabulosity of my friends, *g* [livejournal.com profile] azewewish, amazing woman that she is, has scored us VIP tickets to see Down in L.A. in August!!! *flails wildly* The VIP tickets apparently include a meet and great with the band (!!!), photo/autograph and the like, some merch, early admission to the show, as well as admission to the sound check (!!!). And while she mentioned something about introducing me to Philip and his Cock of Awesomeness, I'm pretty sure that the tickets aren't actually that good. *g* Whatever, man. I am stoked for this!!! *glee*

In less awesome news, I had a client call me a fucking bitch and throw a chair at me yesterday. Thankfully there was prison bars and shatter resistant glass between him and me, but it was still scary as hell to watch him completely lose it like that. And in the crazy, mad rush to meet today's disclosure deadline, I've managed to spill my coffee TWICE! The same coffee. Twice! *facepalm* Can I have my long weekend now, please?
Oh, sweet crackers with jam, this day just refuses to end! Which means that the longest week in recent memory is STILL NOT OVER! Gah!

On the bright side (there's always a bright side), I only have about an hour's worth of work to do before I go to the airport to pick up [livejournal.com profile] azewewish!!! *bounces* There shall be BASEBALL this weekend!!! And awesome good times with my girl!!! And margaritas!!! (There are always margaritas.) *g*

We have tickets to Saturday's and Sunday's games between my D'backs and her Braves, and I'm hoping that these boys play some good ball because my baseball-lovin' heart cannot take any more sucktasticness! In between the baseball times, we shall get up to no good, as we do. *g* AND! I shall drive her insane with my incessant babble about the undeniable fabulousness of one Adam Lambert and his adorable Pocket Idol! She will hate me and I can't wait! *laughs maniacally*

So, that's what my weekend looks like. How 'bout y'all? Tell me about the no good you're gettin' up to this weekend. :)
:: Not having to wake up with an alarm at very early in the morning!

:: A great workout with the Trainer, including lots of cathartic hitting of things! \o/

:: First taste of watermelon this summer! Yummy!

:: Good conversations that lead to much needed clarity and possible new solutions! Effective communication skills FTW!

:: Amazing friends that love and support me in a myriad of ways! ♥ ♥ ♥

:: Much overdue good baseball playin' by my boys and finally a game in the "win" column! (Bonus!Grand Slam by my CHRISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Highlights, in no particular order:

- Sleeping in! OMG I needed that!

- Getting my ass righteously kicked by my trainer. I had been a slug for almost 2 weeks, so the workout was long over due and today's sore ass and thighs are well-deserved.

- Scoring AMAZING seats to Wicked in July!!! Last time the production came through town, they sold out in less than 2 hours and I was seriously bummed that I didn't get to see it. So, I was thrilled not only to be able to get tickets this time around, but to get great tickets at that! WooHoo!!!

- Sprinkles Cupcakes!!! [livejournal.com profile] editorzon and I hit Sprinkles yesterday and as we couldn't decide on a flavor, we came home with a dozen cupcakes! Sugar high FTW!!!

- Which brings me to: I HAD [livejournal.com profile] editorzon WITH ME ALL DAY YESTERDAY!!!! It was fantastic to spend time talking and catching up and laughing and drinking yummy margaritas and martinis and walking around Old Town Scottsdale and just generally hanging out with one of my favorite people on the planet!!!

Now I have to get ready for court. Closing arguments this morning and then we start this all over again in the second case tomorrow. Fun times. Or, you know, the exact opposite of that! But at least this is my last week of indigent defense work!!! One more week! I can do this! *takes deep breath*

How 'bout y'all? How was your weekend and what's up for you this week? *curious*
I spent the morning in court trying to figure out my trial schedule for April, given the fact that if things go right at next week's interview, I'll hopefully be working for the court soon and having to withdraw from all of my pending cases. So, after much wrangling and one very unhappy prosecutor later, we decided to schedule one trial for April 6, a second trial on April 13, with the possibility of continuing the earlier trial to the end of the month if I don't get the clerkship. It wasn't until I got home that I remembered that the D'backs' Home Opener is on April 6th. In the afternoon. Right about the time that I'll be picking a jury. *sobs* I really wanted to go to that game! I even have my tickets already! There's the possibility that the April 6th trial will be continued to the end of the month, freeing me up to go to the game, but only if I don't get the clerkship. As much as I love my D'backs and miss baseball like woah and would really love to be at the Home Opener, I still want the clerkship more. I just wish it didn't have to be one or the other! *sadface*

In happier news, though, I get [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish in just 3 days for a fun-filled SPRING TRAINING BASEBALL WEEKEND!!!!! *bounces* Despite my best efforts, Saturday's game is going to be the first spring training game I make it to this season. I'm very excited! My girls!!! Baseball!!! Sunshine! Sunburns! Beer! Hotdogs! Hot baseball players!!! So much to be GLEEFUL about!!!!

Other happy things include:

1. Friday Night Lights is possibly getting picked up for TWO MORE SEASONS!!! (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azewewish for the very happy-making heads up.) Seriously, this show remains THE best show on television. If you're not watching it, I can't even begin to fathom why. I will be happy beyond measure if we get it for another two years! Speaking of the awesomeness that is FNL, I finally got a chance to read Scott Porter's blog about Jason's last show and I cried like a crying thing! (Note: link has spoilers up to Episode 3.8.) The episode last Friday shredded me, and then reading about what was happening behind the scenes just had me crying all over again. Gods, I love this show so hard!

2. Nathan Fillion was on my T.V. last night!!! I'm not entirely sure yet what I think of Castle (as with most pilots, I think it needs a few episodes to acquit itself and I'm willing to give it that much before I form an opinion), but I am absolutely certain that Nathan is still inexplicably HOT LIKE FIRE, and I am very happy to have his awesome, quirky face on my television again! Also, bonus Poke from Generation Kill!!! *glee*

3. Apparently Merlin is still in the wings for NBC, and is looking at a late spring call up. *grabby hands*

4. I am oddly intrigued by the premise in Kings, which premiers this Sunday. It's a modern-day retelling of the story of David and Goliath. Restorying biblical mythology with rumored gay characters (reported here) and incredibly hot actors (HELLO Christopher Egan and Sebastian Stan!) -- what's not to love???

I hate leaving a list at 4, but I don't have time for a #5. I have to work on my writing sample, so that I can land that awesome clerkship job, so that I can miss the D'backs' home opener. Yay! With a side order of *woe*.
Happy Valentines Day!!! I hope everyone had a lovely day celebrating love in all its many forms.

My day started with lovely Valentine's Day wishes from Texas Boy. I still have no idea what to make of him or us, but I'm still enjoying the hell out of the ride. *g*

Then I spent the afternoon at the park where there were wedding vows and family hugs and a gorgeous sunny day to enjoy. (My cousin, Yesenia, and her long-time boyfriend, Ben, decided to make things official. In her very romantic way of putting it, they decided to "just say the words" and asked the family there to witness it. She should get a job with Hallmark, right? *laughs*)

After that I came home and made delicious spaghetti for dinner and dark chocolate brownies for dessert! So very yummy! I also watched The Secret Life of Bees, which I enjoyed. I haven't read the book, so I have no way to know how it compares. But I thought the movie was good. Also, even as a beekeeper, Queen Latifa is beautiful!

And now I discover delightful anonymous love here. Thank you. Really. Those words, and the love behind them, made my heart swell and literally brought tears to my eyes. Seriously, I cannot adequately express how amazingly blessed I feel each day with the abundance of love and friendship that fills my world. *loves and loves*

Also, in the spirit of celebrating love in all its forms, I hereby adopt this Love Letter To My Body as my own. Dear Body: Yes, that. All of it. In Love and Gratitude, Me.

Finally, my Valentine to all of you, some random "love" tunes! Enjoy!

Love Songs )

*blows kisses*

Home now.

Jan. 21st, 2009 09:52 pm
I had a fabulous time in Austin. [livejournal.com profile] annkiri is a GODDESS. I've mentioned that, right? *g* I had such a good time hanging out with her and with [livejournal.com profile] soylahtayplease; we talked and laughed and drank and ate and talked some more and then did it all again for HOURS! Thank you both! ♥
In about 9 hours I'll be on a plane to Austin. I'm finally packed, so hopefully between then and now I'll have managed at least a few hours sleep.

I can't wait to see [livejournal.com profile] annkiri and [livejournal.com profile] soylahtayplease! There are plans for barbecue, Magnolia, cupcakes, live music, football, the Drafthouse, scary movies, and pretty boys! Although not at the same time. *g* There will also be time with Texas Boy, about which I am both excited and anxious. *frets* But in any event, the prospect of six days in Austin with great friends and good times is EXCITING!!!

I'm still not sure whether I'm taking my laptop, but in any case I'll likely not be online much until I'm home next Wednesday. See y'all on the flip side!
For being the first full Monday after several weeks of holiday-related down time, today was a surprisingly good day. But of all the good things about this day, the absolute BEST thing is that today is the day that we celebrate the birth of the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] azewewish! Happy birthday, baby!!! You have enriched my life with your love and friendship, you've inspired me with your strength of character, with your fierce independence and your sharp mind, you've made me laugh more than just about anyone, and we've had some damn good times! I hope your day was as fantastic as you are, full of all the things that make you happiest, and I hope the year ahead brings an abundance of love, laughter and more damn good times your way! *mwah*

Since my trial got vacated, I had an unexpectedly productive day. I blew through my To Do list and organized myself for the rest of the week. I feel quite accomplished!

Also of the good: paying off my car!!! I made my last car payment today! This is exciting!

And, to round off the GOOD, in only 10 days, I get to go to Austin and see [livejournal.com profile] annkiri!!! I can't wait! This will be my first time spending any amount of time in Austin, so I appeal to my flist: what should be on my Austin Must Do list?
How is this day over? Seriously, this day flew by. Not before I got a great workout in with Trainer!Boy, though. And then I followed that up with a trip to AJ's for PIES!!! In my world, exercise followed by pies makes the best kind of sense! *nods* I've also had Rianna all evening. We went to dinner and then to the movies to see Madagascar 2. Now she's passed out on the couch and I've got some serious cooking to do before I can call it a night -- sweet and sour green bean casserole, cheesy spinach casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, and, of course, the turkey. I'm hoping to get the majority of it done tonight so that I'm not running around like a mad woman tomorrow morning. Chances are, however, that I'll be running around like a mad woman tomorrow morning. *g* One can always hope, though. :)

Before I get to cooking, I thought I'd make my traditional "Thanksgiving Gratitude List," because, you know, tomorrow's Thanksgiving. And, we all know how much I love lists! \o/

Today, tomorrow and every day I am thankful for:

:: Jeremy Shockey's mind blowing hotness. )

*laughs* Ok. While I am VERY appreciative of Jeremy's hot ass (and arms, and chest, and thighs...*ahem*), he's really not what I'm most grateful for. Let's try this again...today, tomorrow and every day I am thankful for:

:: My family, who love me and support me, even while they may not always understand me. My mom who has always been the primary reason why I can be whoever I need to be. My nieces who amaze me with their beauty and promise.

:: The amazing women in my circle of friends who support me, inspire me, and brighten my life every day with their love and laughter. You are my family of choice and I love each of you.

:: All of you for accompanying me every day on this journey we call life, for entertaining me, for making me think, for expanding my awareness of the world we share, for letting me into your lives through what you write here, and for joining me in mine by reading my words. Thank you.

:: My body that's healthy, fit, strong, and beautiful.

:: The beauty in the world around me found in music and art and dance and writing and in a million different ways that bring me joy every single day.

:: The hope and promise of having Barack Obama as our President come the 20th of January.

Whether for you tomorrow is a day of Thanksgiving or just another Thursday, I hope it's filled with the people and things that fill your heart with gratitude. And, you know, food and football!
I enjoyed a truly lovely day for my birthday. After an early court hearing, I gave myself the rest of the day off -- an awesome perk of being your own boss! I also treated myself to a massage this afternoon -- 90 minutes of pure bliss! Gods did I ever need that! It was FABULOUS!

My mom, who is awesome, bought me a new camera for my birthday. Her reasoning? I needed a camera with a better zoom in order to take pictures of my D'backs at games! *laughs* I think that she really just wants a better shot of Conor Jackson's ass! But who can blame her. *g*

This evening my family took me out to dinner. I wanted BBQ ribs, so that's what we had. Oh, yes. And margaritas! Birthday margaritas! )

Also? My brother is evil and had our waitress announce my birthday to the restaurant at large. This wouldn't have been so bad if it had not required me climbing up on the "Birthday Saddle." No. I'm sadly not kidding. There is photographic evidence of my shame. )

Although the aforementioned margaritas may have resulted in less actual embarrassment on my part than the occassion deserved. *facepalm*

Anyway. Good times! *g*

Also lovely this day were all the wonderful birthday messages from all of you, including sparkly tiaras and yummy cupcakes. All of the beautiful birthday messages absolutely made my day and left me positively verklempt! I am blessed indeed to have such wonderful friends! *hugs y'all*

Now I'm capping off the day with ice cream cake! Ice cream AND cake all in one slice of deliciousness. Brilliant! :)
This weekend's Happy List:

- Baseball!!! I had great seats to both Friday and Saturday's games between the Diamondbacks and the Marlins. Good games, both, even though I didn't get to see Chris catch either game. *sadface* Misty May Treanor was at the Saturday game and got a standing ovation when she showed off her gold metal. It was pretty cool. It was also pretty cool to see Luis Gonzalez back at Chase Field. He got a huge round of applause when he came to the plate.

- Eric Brynes bobble heads!!! I am SO easily amused sometimes. *g*

- Hanging out with an old college friend at Friday's game who I hadn't seen in almost a year. It's always an outrageously good time whenever Tom is around. Plus we got a chance to have some really good conversations and really just catch up on each other's lives.

- [livejournal.com profile] annkiri!!! I got Becca for almost a week and it was so good to just be able to hang out, even though the reason for her extended say was quite sucktastic. She is sadly no longer with me, but will be back next weekend to pick up her car.

- Watching the adorable Matt Mitcham win the gold in 10m platform diving. I was bummed that I didn't catch his medal ceremony, but apparently NBC didn't air it, nor did they mention that he was the only openly gay male athlete at the games. FAIL. I dug around, though, until I found a video of his medal ceremony: Matt Mitcham's dives and medal ceremony. He's cute as a button!!! )

- Finding a delicious new place for Sunday brunch. Mmmmmm. Speaking of yummy food, I can also add a Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait for lunch and homemade mac-and-cheese for dinner. So very yummy!

- Generation Kill. It's by far some of the best damn television I've seen all year. Sadly the last episode aired today, but I did order the book that it's based on and also the one written by Lt. Fick, so I'll have those to read, and I'm sure I'll be rewatching the episodes and bugging nagging encouraging others to watch them(*cough*[livejournal.com profile] azewewish*cough*) in the hopes that I'll get more GK fic. *g*
Well, "festivities" is probably an overstatement. But my weekend, festive or otherwise, certainly is now officially underway. I don't have court tomorrow, and I got all my jail visits done today, so I'm declaring tomorrow a day off! The start of my long weekend has been officially kicked off by the the drinking of rum!!! So, as long as the rum keeps flowing, festivities may happen after all. *g*

I've had [livejournal.com profile] annkiri here for a few days thanks to her car woes. While I'm sorry she's having to deal with the annoyance and expense of car troubles, I am very happy indeed to have had the chance to spend some extra time with her. Tuesday we went to the ball park and enjoyed watching the Diamondbacks beat the Padres from great seats right behind the home dugout. Good times!

Me and Becca after Tuesday's game. )

There shall be MOAR BASEBALL this weekend as I have tickets to both tomorrow's and Saturday's games. Yay!!! \o/

Unrelatedly, I am distressed that I have yet to read any swimmer slash. I know the Hot Boys in Water portion of the Olympics are over, but I still NEED some Michael/Ryan fic. Where is it? Also, this ESPN piece left me hankering for Michael/Ian fic. "I'm happy to help him out if he wants a hand with some of these things," the Aussie said. See? There NEEDS to be fic dammit!

Also apropos of nothing at all, have y'all seen this video of a recent GQ photo shoot of the girls of Friday Night Lights? Smokin' hot! Speaking of FNL, do we have any idea when the new season starts? *wants*

Ok, back to this weekend thing. But first, I need MORE RUM!!!
Yesterday: In one word, MISERABLE. It was Office Moving Day -- a billion and three degrees, furniture that weighed slightly more than a fuckton, and my loser cousin bailing on me with the moving help, which meant that it was just me and my brother doing the heavy lifting. And, for reference, the loser cousin who bailed? That would be the same loser cousin who's criminal case I'm currently handling, for FREE. *hates* The only positive thing about yesterday? A very YUMMY mango smoothie for breakfast lunch dinner the only damn thing I had time to eat all day.

Today: Longest freakin' Monday in recent history of bad Mondays. Ugh. I can do without the 4 a.m. start times and the scheduled end-to-end days, thank you very much. But I did manage to squeeze in about 3 days worth of work in to today, including settling or almost settling five cases. I rock! \o/

Tomorrow: High potential for AWESOMENESS. I get [livejournal.com profile] annkiri here for an overnight pit stop some time in the afternoon. BECCA!!! And then we'll head over to the ballpark for the Diamondbacks/Padres game. BASEBALL!!! Tomorrow will definitely not suck. *g*

In other news:

- The work mess is still not unfucked. I'm hoping to have more answers tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

+ I just received a FABULOUS gift basket from [livejournal.com profile] erianne1 filled with homemade soap, bath stuffs, lotion, lip balm and candle! It all smells yummy and I can't wait to dig in! Thank you, Angi!!! ♥

- Either the air conditioner or the fan or maybe both in my Trooper seem to be crapping out. The timing couldn't possibly be worse. I'm afraid to even imagine what this is going to cost. *stabbity*

+ My mom is AWESOME!!! For many reasons, but more recently because she's buying me my airline ticket to New Orleans for my birthday! New Orleans is still a go!!! \o/

+/- Generation Kill is still some of the best television I've seen! But next week is the last episode and I'm kind of sad about that.
Comic Con, or maybe just all the travel this month, has really kicked my ass. I've been having to forcibly drag myself through this week. Thank the gods tomorrow is Friday. I have some serious plans for sleeping in and laying about this weekend. *nods*

I've got piles of work to do tonight, but at least I get to do it while watching the Diamondbacks play. They seriously have to make a good showing in this series against the Dodgers. I just tasked [livejournal.com profile] sabrinagb with cheering loudly for my boys, so I'm sure that my presence by proxy will make all the difference in getting this series off on the right foot. *g* Speaking of baseball, today was full of some shocker trades. I can't even imagine the BoSox without Manny. *shakes head*

What else? Oh, yes. [livejournal.com profile] annkiri was here for a brief pit stop yesterday and we had a lovely dinner. She'll be back in a few weeks on her way back to Texas, just in time to join me to see Christian Kane play out in Queen Creek. Yeah. I have no idea why he's playing in Queen Creek, but apparently he is. I've never heard him play, so I'm kinda looking forward to it. Plus? I get Becca for a few days!!! \o/

Now, though, there's D-Backs baseball on my screen, so I'm outa here. :)
