The D'backs are in the 13th inning of the second game of a double-header. It's almost 1:30 in the morning in Florida. Good gods.

All of these hours of baseball started with the tragic news that the wife of D'backs relief pitcher Scott Schoeneweis was found dead this morning. So sad.

This baseball season is just crazy. *shakes head*

So, yeah. What else?

Random thoughts!

Terminator Salvation tomorrow!!! I am ridiculously excited about this movie! *bounces*

AI )

So, I keep hearing various noises of delight about Glee. I missed it! Someone tell me about it! What is this gleeful thing and where do I find it???

I have about a dozen tabs of Star Trek fic open. *facepalm* Apparently I'm not discouraged by the high percentage of really bad fic out there. I persevere!
:: Not having to wake up with an alarm at very early in the morning!

:: A great workout with the Trainer, including lots of cathartic hitting of things! \o/

:: First taste of watermelon this summer! Yummy!

:: Good conversations that lead to much needed clarity and possible new solutions! Effective communication skills FTW!

:: Amazing friends that love and support me in a myriad of ways! ♥ ♥ ♥

:: Much overdue good baseball playin' by my boys and finally a game in the "win" column! (Bonus!Grand Slam by my CHRISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
This is a pleasant Monday morning, despite the fact that there is seemingly not enough caffeine in the world to make me feel fully awake. I've had twice my normal caffeine intake and I still feel as if my brain is wrapped in a fog. Weekend road trips wreck havoc on my ability to function come Monday.

Despite the OMGSOSLEEPY-ness of this morning, the day is a good one and the weekend was fun. Got to spend some time with the extended Familia, and it was for the most part blessedly drama-free. Also got to spend some time with [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah and that was fabulous. There was lots of yummy good food, and lazy-times in the pool, and silliness with The Awesome Nieces, and it was good.

This week is already crazy-busy, but I'm still enjoying the Awesome New Job enough that I don't even mind the craziness! I'm sure that'll pass soon enough, but for now I don't even have work-related bitchiness to report. *beams*

I also just picked up tickets for me and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish for the D'backs/Braves series later this month, so the plan for an awesome baseball weekend in the near future is making me happier than normal for a Monday morning!

I'm debating whether or not to go to Texas for Memorial Day weekend. On the one hand, I've already got my plane ticket. On the other hand...well, "the other hand" is an annoyance that I'd rather not stain this otherwise pleasant Monday with...but I just don't know what to do! *ponders*

I'm also not going to sully this good day with my thoughts on new D'backs manager Hinch's announcement that Chris Snyder and Miguel Montero are going to be splitting catching duties. I'm sure y'all can guess what I think of this, right?

Moving on. It's a good Monday, people! I'm going to go grab something for lunch and then be a busy bee this afternoon! How 'bout y'all? What's your Monday looking like?
Wow. This week just flew by. It was good though. Or mostly good. Let's discuss the good first, shall we?

First, the Awesome New Job is still AWESOME! I'm digging into to some really interesting cases, with all the responsibility and autonomy that I was promised. I'm getting to know my co-workers and my initial impression that these are folks who I'll like working with is holding true. We have lunch together as a firm on Fridays, and last night after work we all hung around having a beer! So, while everyone is expected to work hard (I didn't leave the office before 7 this week), everyone also works together and gets along, and I still think this was the perfect move for me! Yay!

Second, Supernatural rocked my world this week! I don't even want to talk about it until after the finale, but I'm so glad that the creative team aren't pulling any punches so far.

Third in the "good" column, I just had a kick ass workout with The Trainer Man. With being sick last week, and the new job this week, I hadn't had a training session in going on two weeks. Now that I have a better idea of what my schedule is going to look like, I'm hoping to bump things up to two sessions a week soon. Getting my LIFE back on a semi-predictable schedule makes me happy!

Finally, of the good, I'm getting ready to head down to Tucson for a Mothers' Day Shindig with La Familia! Yummy food, copious amounts of margaritas, and fun times by the pool! PLUS, I'll also get to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah who I haven't seen in approximately an eternity! Good times!!!

Of the not so good this week is the complete clusterfuck that is the D'backs front office and the new coaching team. *shakes head* Firing Bob Melvin was bad enough, although somewhat understandable given the crappy start the team has had this season. I still think, though, that given the success he's had with this very same team the past two seasons, they owed it to him to at least give him to the All-Star break to see if he could turn things around. But whatever. The team sucks, someone has to go. I get that. What I completely don't get is their decision to replace Bo-Mel with A.J. Hinkle who has ZERO managerial experience AT ANY LEVEL (but who does happen to be BFFs with GM Josh Byrnes). Even more incomprehensible, is that they thought it was a good idea to give this completely untried, inexperienced, newbie A THREE YEAR CONTRACT!!! WTF???? It's one thing if you want to shake things up, try something new, get some fresh blood in with an unconventional managerial choice; it's a whole other thing to tie your experiment down to a three year agreement! Seriously, I can't even begin to wrap my head around this. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks Josh Byrnes has lost his mind. That Dilbert-speak? How is that supposed to translate to better baseball??? Seriously, man, the mind just boggles.

I'm not even going to get into the Manny fiasco. Inexcusable, man. Completely inexcusable.

So, apparently all my bad news this week centered around baseball. *laughs* In good baseball news, though, I was at the Awesome New Job exactly 2 1/2 days before I had convinced everyone that a firm field trip to a home game was ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY in the near future! With the D'backs crazy schedule, it looks as if won't happen until the Astros series in June. But, YAY! MOAR BASEBALL!!! ([livejournal.com profile] editorzon is right: no one is safe from the Baseball Borg!)

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Much happiness and love to all the moms on my flist! *mwah*

Briefly

May. 1st, 2009 11:15 am
Swine flu Unidentified Craptasticness: I still has it. My head feels as if its been stuffed with cotton. Yuck.

Supernatural: \o/

New Job: I start on Monday! WooHoo!!!

Dreamwidth: I'm jessipsaloquitur. But it's just a backup. I have no plans to either leave LJ or to cross-post.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine: I'll be seeing it later today. Yay!

Economic Stimulus: I have some serious shopping plans for this afternoon. New job means an excuse for new work clothes!!! *polishes credit cards*

Baseball: Dear Bullpen: Please to be getting your shit together. No love, Me. Max Scherzer, however, was awesome.

May 1: Blessed Beltane, to those who mark the day. May your dreams and desires find fertile ground this summer!
Today was made of sunshine and baseball and margaritas and ice cream! In other words, it was an awesome day!!! My Aunt H and I headed downtown late this morning to see the noon D'backs/Cubs game. I love afternoon games. It feels as if I'm playing hooky on life when I'm at a ball game during working hours, even though I'm technically on vacation this week. Illicit baseball FTW!

It was a gorgeous day too; sunny and warm and PERFECT and the roof on Chase Field was open to all the loveliness outside (thank goodness for sunscreen and baseball caps, though!).

Doug Davis pitched seven great innings, holding the Cubs to just two hits and no runs. A combination of the Cubs being a mess and the D'backs finally remembering that an offensive game is helpful to getting the W, resulted in a 10-0 win. Yay! \o/ It was a fun game to watch, plus the Cubs fans sitting near us were hilariously drunk without being obnoxious. So we were well entertained!

Pictures of hot baseball players. As we do, 'round these parts. *g* )

And then this evening we went to Baskin Robbins for $0.31 scoops of ice cream. It was a fundraiser event for local firefighter organizations, so in addition to yummy ice cream there were also lots of yummy lookin' firefighters around! Double win!!!

In all, this was a most excellent Wednesday! *g*

Goodness.

:: For being a vacation day, yesterday was remarkably productive. I transferred all my remaining active files and wrapped up a few loose ends; all I have left to do is to pack up my files for storage and I'll be officially done with solo practice! I even managed to get some grocery shopping in yesterday! Go me! \o/

:: The D'backs played a fantastic baseball game yesterday and beat the Cubs 7-2. They were definitely firing on all cylinders! Dan Haren pitched a fantastic complete game. They were aggressive on the bases with five stolen bases. We finally gave our pitching staff some run support. The offensive game was just working in a way it hasn't all season -- Chris Snyder got his first home run of the season, everyone was putting on good ABs, even Dan Haren got himself a 2RBI double! Mostly, though, you could tell they were relaxed and just having FUN. This is how they need to be playing!

:: Today's agenda includes some housecleaning, a significant amount of lazing about, catching up on some reading, enjoying the gorgeous spring weather, and the making of yummy chicken cheese enchiladas! Staycations FTW!!!

:: Tomorrow, while the majority of the world is working, I shall be at the afternoon D'backs/Cubs baseball game!!!
Happy Saturday, everyone! It's sunny and beautiful outside. Such a gorgeous day calls for a Happy List!

1. I had a lovely night with The Lovely Nieces last night. I took them to see Monsters v. Aliens, and while Rhyan was only interested in eating fistfuls of popcorn (seriously, she dug into the bag of popcorn with BOTH HANDS!), Rianna really liked the movie. Good times!

2. I just had a kick-ass workout with the Trainer Dude that included about 20 minutes of new boxing combinations. I feel fierce! \o/

3. Watching some of the NFL Draft. Seriously, can Mark Sanchez be any more adorable??? I think the title of Best Dimples of the NFL has just passed from Hines Ward to Mark!

4. Baseball tonight!!! I'll be heading out to Chase Field soon to see the D'backs and the Giants. Randy Johnson is starting for the Giants. It still makes me weep a little on the inside to see him in black and orange, but it'll be good to see him do his thing. Seriously, though, my boys need to get it together already. *shakes head* I'm sure that me being there cheering them on will make ALL the difference today! *beams*
Thing 1: Holy hell, it's suddenly summer here! It's so hot! I am so not on board with 100 degree temperatures before we even get to May. *melts*

Thing 2: Given said outrageous temperatures, frozen yogurt for lunch was the perfect choice! Yum!

Thing 3: I am well and truly baffled by all the Dreamwidth hoopla. I just don't get it. What's the difference between it and LJ? And if there is no significant difference, what the hell is the point of this mass migration and panic over getting invite codes??? *confused* For the record, I'm not going anywhere. I've been here far too long and I LIKE it here. I'm also far too lazy unable to devote the online time needed to set up camp over there just to keep up with anyone who's made the move.

Thing 4: French Elle's no make-up issue is AMAZING! (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mysanal for the link!) The women look beautiful and real. Well done!

Thing 5: The D'backs are looking good against the Rockies tonight. Jon Garland is pitching a great game through 6 so far and they actually remembered to bring their offensive game to the ball park today! \o/

Thing 6: Apparently, due to some sort of contest of which I was not aware, Tempe will host the world premier of X-Men Origins: Wolverine next Monday. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] wendy for the heads up!) Hugh Jackman in my city!!! *glee* 600 tickets were given out today, when I was tied up all day in court, but it looks as if more tickets will be available later in the week. Since I'll be wrapping up my current case load by Thursday and don't start the new job until May 4, I have next week completely free!!! So I'll see what I can do about scoring a ticket! *crosses fingers*

Thing 7: The Texas Boy is a constant source of amusement and glee. He isn't really much of a baseball fan, but he knows that I am. So he follows ESPN baseball coverage and calls me every time he has a new baseball tidbit that he's picked up and shows it off like a shiny new toy! *laughs* At this rate he'll be a baseball fan before he even realizes it!
:: I watched For Love of the Game last night (LATE last night), while I was doing my last minute trial prep. I love that movie so much!!! No matter how many times I watch it, I still WEEP through the last third of the show! It just so perfectly captures everything I love about baseball. *sigh* So good. And it's apparently cathartic as well, because I felt far less stressed after my movie-induced cry.

:: Today wasn't quite the train wreck I was expecting it to be. But the best news of all is that my only two weeks, only two weeks... mantra will soon be only one week, only one week.... Yay!!!

:: My D'backs are off to a really rough start. They've managed to win only one out of three in their first three series at home. They're in San Fransisco tomorrow night and I'm really hoping the change of scenery will do them good. Please do not be breaking my heart this season, boys!

:: In significantly more awesome baseball news, Orlando Hudson hit for the cycle! Ian Kinsler did too! AND went 6 for 6!!! That's some phenomenal baseball!!!

:: I'm reading Hood and so far I'm really liking it!

:: New Bones tonight!!! I've really started to love this show! I may have to do some catch-up watching of past seasons this summer.

:: I get [livejournal.com profile] editorzon on Sunday!!! There shall be drinking, and talking, and laughing, and all manner of shenanigans! Good times!
Friday my brother, mom, Rianna, Rhyan, and I all went to the D'backs/Dodgers game. The girls were all decked out in their D'backs gear. The cameraman loved Rhyan and Rianna because we were on the jumbo tron 5 times during the course of the game! Seriously, every time I looked up, there we were. It was a bit disconcerting after a while. Rianna, of course, thought it was the coolest thing ever. And Rhyan was just busy lapping up all the attention she could from everyone around us. Good times!

Family night at the ballpark! )

It was a good game, with the D'backs winning it 9-4. In the first week of season, the only two games that the D'backs have won have been the two games that I've been at. Obviously, I NEED to be at the ballpark more often! For the good of the team, of course. *g*

We had great seats, just behind the home dugout. So, naturally, I took lots of pictures. Although I didn't take as many as I normally would have, as I was trying to keep up with a very wiggly 1 year old who was hamming it up for the jumbo tron!

Hot baseball players!!! )

Saturday was spent working. I'm going to be in trial for the next two weeks, staring Tuesday, so I spent most of the day at the jail going over last minute details with my client. For the record, spending the afternoon at the county jail is NOT my idea of a fun Saturday! It was an awesomely rainy and cloudy day, too -- the kind where you just want to curl up with a good book and laze about the house. We don't get very many of those 'round these parts, so it felt like a wasted opportunity. *shrugs* Oh, well. You do what you gotta do.

Today, however, was significantly better as I decided to ignore work for most of the day! We celebrated Easter in our non-religious, candy-filled way at a park. Lots of good food, kiddos having fun with their Easter egg hunt, more desserts than should be legal. Good times! :)

Rianna and Rhyan in their pretty Easter dresses! )

I hope y'all had a great weekend too!
1. The D'backs will host the 2011 All-Star Game!!! WooHoo!!! Home Run Derby! FanFest! Baseball! Baseball players!!! *glee* Plans are already underway to be part of the festivities. Who's joining me? *beams*

2. Significantly less gleeful: It looks as if Fox has terminated T:SCC. Not on, Fox. Seriously, not on. *glares* (By the way, I still haven't seen the past 4 episodes and likely won't have time to until next weekend. No spoilery comments, please.)

I will get around to posting job details and the pictures from last night's ball game -- just as soon as I finish watching my D'backs get their collective asses handed to them. *shakes head*
[livejournal.com profile] wendy sent me some surprise!happy day thoughts this morning, and I think they worked, because today turned out much more pleasant than I was expecting. The craptastic morning in court that I was anticipating was certainly busy but went much smoother than I had thought it would.

Then I indulged in a MUCH needed nap this afternoon, and I felt about 200% less crabby after ward. Yay for sleep! Plus, my back which has been a ball of painful spasms all week, has felt really good today. Yay for painlessness!

I also received a whole bunch of books that I recently ordered from Amazon, including the first two books of the King Raven Trilogy. New books make me happy!!! \o/

I spent the afternoon getting quite a bit of work done, while I enjoyed the free MLB Extra Innings baseball coverage that's gracing my t.v. this week. I got to watch the Rangers take the Indians, and there was just SO MUCH PRETTY involved in that baseball game! Ian Kinsler was on fire, man. And, Grady mustered the power of the dimples for a very nice two run homer in the 3rd. Josh was HOT as only Josh can be. And, while Salty wasn't playing, he was lookin' mighty fine just sitting in the dugout! *g* And, proving why I could never buy the Extra Innings subscription and still expect to have any sort of life that wasn't watching baseball, I also watched the Padres pull off a nice win over the Dodgers. *laughs* Man, if I had all this baseball on my screen all the time, I'd never get anything done!

Speaking of baseball, as we do 'round these parts, I'm taking Rianna to her first game of the season tomorrow night. It'll be a family night at the ballpark, with me, my brother, my mom, Rianna and even Rhyan, who is sure to terrorize anyone sitting near us! *laughs*

And since there will be more baseball tomorrow, I thought I should post my pictures from the Home Opener )

*rubs eyes*

Apr. 9th, 2009 06:29 am
More coffee. Stat.

For the second day in a row, I'm up at the ass-crack of dawn in order to prepare for what is sure to be another craptastic morning chock full of unreasonable clients, annoyed judges, and more places to be than one person can possibly manage at once. Do. Not. Want. Can this week be over now please? *begs*

And in other unpleasantness this week, the D'backs managed a complete meltdown in the last two games of the series against the Rockies, our ace pitcher is missing his next start due to shoulder stiffness, and after Opening Day the offensive game has seemed as stale as it did last season. Please, boys, do not be breaking my heart so early in the season! *cries*

But, in happy-making baseball news, Luis Gonzalez was at the ballpark yesterday and is apparently in talks with the front office to be able to retire as a D'back and then join the organization. We ♥ Gonzo!

And apropos of nothing at all, it cracks me up every time I see that pirates have made another CNN headline! I'm sure it's a very serious problem and not really funny at all in actuality, but every time I see another "pirate" headline I can't help but to hum "It's a Pirate's Life for Me" and get an undeniable urge for more rum! *laughs*

Ok. I can't really put this crappy day off any longer. Off to the trenches. Hope y'all are having a good one!

Miscellany

Apr. 7th, 2009 06:13 pm
:: OMG people! Work is killing me this week! Doesn't it know that I've already mentally checked out and just want to get on with this damn job search??? Why must it continue to harangue me??? *cries*

:: In happier work-related ramblings, though, I was able to negotiate a really good result for a client today; he was very pleased and grateful and it was just SATISFYING. Go me! \o/

:: Also of the good, I have an interview this Friday with a small firm that looks promising. *fingers crossed*

:: NBC is moving Kings to Saturdays. This does not bode well for the survival of the show. This displeases me greatly because Kings is all that is awesome and fabulous!

:: I get to watch my Diamondbacks play in just 10 minutes! *glee* The Opening Day glow has not worn off. I'm still giddy over the start of the season!

:: Speaking of baseball (and I'll likely be doing a lot of that until October), how 'bout a baseball fans friending meme? MOAR BASEBALL!!! MOAR BASEBALL FANS!!! There is no bad here, people!!!

Baseball friending meme!
Oh, man, I really missed baseball! Please don't ever leave me again! *clings*

Ahem. So, yes, the D'backs Home Opener was made of AWESOME with a side of FANTABULOUS!!!!!! We beat the Rockies 9-8, in what turned out to be a really great slug-fest. I have about two million pictures, or perhaps just slightly less than that, that I will post as soon as I find my USB cable. *searches in vain* Unsurprisingly, I have lots of great shots of Chris Snyder (who is looking especially HOT this year). I also took a bunch of pictures of Stephen Drew, Eric Byrnes, Augie Ojeda, and Rockies' catcher Chris Ianetta, with several of my flisters in mind.

Some of the day's highlights:

- A touching pre-game tribute to Marquis Cooper, with his dad and local sportscaster, Bruce Cooper, throwing out the first pitch. *sniff*

- Garlic fries and cold beer!!! Yum!

- Muhammad Ali in the crowd.

- Felipe Lopez, our new second baseman, hitting a home run during his first at bat. And then repeating the feat in the 4th inning from the other side of the plate. He can stay! *g*

- Tony Clark's two home-runs, also from opposite sides of the plate, something that major league baseball hadn't seen since 2000 and never before on Opening Day. Go boys!!!

- Chad Tracy also hit one out and Chris Snyder had a lovely RBI double.

- It was great to see Eric Byrnes on the field. I missed his crazy hair and his even crazier theme song!!! *sings I just wanna use your love* Also, his team pictures look as if they were ripped from his 70's porn star portfolio. They are hysterical!!!

- By some miracle of divine benediction, Conor Jackson has somehow gotten HOTTER since September! I don't understand how this is possible either!!!

- CHRIS SNYDER!!!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ (That doesn't really need any further explanation, does it? *g*)

In conclusion: BASEBALL IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My life is complete.
I think my internal clock is broken. First, there's my complete inability to go to sleep at a normal hour. Seriously, brain, finally going to sleep at 3 a.m. is NOT HELPFUL when you know we have to get up at 6:30! *bitchface* Then there's the fact that my sense of the passage of time is completely off kilter -- the months seem to be zooming by (Hello, April, where the hell did you come from???), while the individual weeks seem to take forever to get from Monday to Friday! Dear gods, could this week have taken any longer???

But, thankfully, the weekend is finally upon us!!! I've got Big and Exciting Plans for this weekend. Like LAUNDRY!!! I know. I'm sure you're all green with envy. And if that isn't exciting enough, I also get to do my TAXES!!! WooHoo!!! (Haha. Me? Procrastinate much??? *looks innocent*)

The weekend may also include an evening at the Chandler Jazz Festival and some serious catch-up with my t.v. shows. Speaking of t.v. shows though, Supernatural was somethin' last night, eh? It sounds as if most folks' reactions are either of the LOVE it variety or the HATE it Woe, I'm terribly offended variety. Mine is neither. I did love most of it. The parts I loved, the parts I could have done without. )

Erm. What else? Oh, yes, it's TWO DAYS UNTIL OPENING DAY!!!!!!! Have I mentioned that already??? *g* I've missed baseball so much! The D'backs have 18 of their first 22 games at home. (Um. What the hell is with the crazyass schedules this year???) So there will be plenty of baseball in my life SOOOON!!! *glee*
We paid homage by trekking out to the wilds of Surprise, Arizona, obtaining the appropriate adult beverages, and slathering on plenty of sunscreen. And the Baseball Gods were pleased, for, lo, they smiled upon us and bestowed on us their abundant favor.

In other words, it was an FANTASTIC weekend of baseball, and good friends, and lovely sunshine, and hot men, and cute college boys, and MOAR BASEBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish arrived on Friday evening, and after more than an hour of untangling ourselves from the most horrendous airport traffic I've ever had the misfortune to have to navigate, we made our way to Tempe for some yummy Mexican food, really good margaritas, and a lovely evening of talking, laughing and generally getting caught up. Later we came back and watched Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Damn. This show does not disappoint.

Anyway. Baseball. On Saturday we headed out to the Spring Training complex in Surprise -- dear gods, it was far. But we made it and got to see my Diamondbacks break out some whoop ass all over the Kansas City Royals. Man, I had missed my boys and it was damn good to see them on the field. Mah BOYSSSS! )

And then after the game the Baseball Gods were benevolent and gifted us with the unexpected bonus of hot college baseball players a college baseball game! The ASU team was playing a series against the University of Kansas Jayhawks and for some reason they were playing out in Surprise instead of on campus. So, naturally, we stuck around to watch the game. Which, incidentally, involved the unavoidable watching of the hot college ball players. What??? We couldn't help it! They were right there! And hot. And, oh gods, so young. *facepalm* And while I'm not admitting to anything, there may have been pictures taken (um, lots of pictures taken *blushes*) of one of the most perfect asses we have ever seen gracing a pair of baseball pants. If the Baseball Gods truly do love us, this boy will indeed make it to the show one day so that we can freely perv over his beautiful backside. But, yes, the college ball players were a lovely surprise in what was already a great day of baseball!

Sunday found us back in the wilds of Surprise for a game between the Texas Rangers and the San Diego Padres. We had awesome seats just behind home plate, which meant we were in the shade and didn't need to lather on the sunscreen. A spring training weekend with no resulting sunburn! Win!!!

There was so much pretty on the field. [livejournal.com profile] azewewish is right. The Rangers have THE hottest top of the line-up in the major leagues. I didn't get any great pictures of Michael Young or Ian Kinsler (a down-side to being behind the net), but I did get some pretty good shots of Josh Hamilton and his Tatted Arms of Awesomeness! Hello there, Josh! )

In addition to being hot and just a little bit crazy, we discovered that Josh Hamilton is also UTTERLY CHARMING! He stood out by the first base line for the last four innings of the game signing autographs and taking pictures and making himself completely accessible to his fans and just generally being an adorable goofball! I was thoroughly charmed by him and even though he's kind of crazy in his religious fervor, I am such a fan of one Mr. Josh Hamilton now!

I'll also mention that the lovely college boys were again playing after the spring training game, but we had to be grown ups and catch flights and so we weren't able to stay. But were were sorely tempted! Also, I'm pretty sure it was Satan himself announcing the game yesterday, as he kept mentioning, like EVERY FIVE MINUTES, that the pretty college boys would be playing. I'm not sure where we found the willpower to resist, but as everyone made their flights home, we somehow managed. *g*

So, yes, in all it was a great baseball weekend, good times with great friends, lots of baseball, and unexpected blessings from the Baseball Gods!
I spent the morning in court trying to figure out my trial schedule for April, given the fact that if things go right at next week's interview, I'll hopefully be working for the court soon and having to withdraw from all of my pending cases. So, after much wrangling and one very unhappy prosecutor later, we decided to schedule one trial for April 6, a second trial on April 13, with the possibility of continuing the earlier trial to the end of the month if I don't get the clerkship. It wasn't until I got home that I remembered that the D'backs' Home Opener is on April 6th. In the afternoon. Right about the time that I'll be picking a jury. *sobs* I really wanted to go to that game! I even have my tickets already! There's the possibility that the April 6th trial will be continued to the end of the month, freeing me up to go to the game, but only if I don't get the clerkship. As much as I love my D'backs and miss baseball like woah and would really love to be at the Home Opener, I still want the clerkship more. I just wish it didn't have to be one or the other! *sadface*

In happier news, though, I get [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish in just 3 days for a fun-filled SPRING TRAINING BASEBALL WEEKEND!!!!! *bounces* Despite my best efforts, Saturday's game is going to be the first spring training game I make it to this season. I'm very excited! My girls!!! Baseball!!! Sunshine! Sunburns! Beer! Hotdogs! Hot baseball players!!! So much to be GLEEFUL about!!!!

Other happy things include:

1. Friday Night Lights is possibly getting picked up for TWO MORE SEASONS!!! (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azewewish for the very happy-making heads up.) Seriously, this show remains THE best show on television. If you're not watching it, I can't even begin to fathom why. I will be happy beyond measure if we get it for another two years! Speaking of the awesomeness that is FNL, I finally got a chance to read Scott Porter's blog about Jason's last show and I cried like a crying thing! (Note: link has spoilers up to Episode 3.8.) The episode last Friday shredded me, and then reading about what was happening behind the scenes just had me crying all over again. Gods, I love this show so hard!

2. Nathan Fillion was on my T.V. last night!!! I'm not entirely sure yet what I think of Castle (as with most pilots, I think it needs a few episodes to acquit itself and I'm willing to give it that much before I form an opinion), but I am absolutely certain that Nathan is still inexplicably HOT LIKE FIRE, and I am very happy to have his awesome, quirky face on my television again! Also, bonus Poke from Generation Kill!!! *glee*

3. Apparently Merlin is still in the wings for NBC, and is looking at a late spring call up. *grabby hands*

4. I am oddly intrigued by the premise in Kings, which premiers this Sunday. It's a modern-day retelling of the story of David and Goliath. Restorying biblical mythology with rumored gay characters (reported here) and incredibly hot actors (HELLO Christopher Egan and Sebastian Stan!) -- what's not to love???

I hate leaving a list at 4, but I don't have time for a #5. I have to work on my writing sample, so that I can land that awesome clerkship job, so that I can miss the D'backs' home opener. Yay! With a side order of *woe*.

In a fit of optimism over the job situation, I have gone ahead and purchased my tickets for the Diamondbacks' Home Opener on April 6th (BASEBALL!!! *grabby hands*) and my four-day pass for ComicCon in July (geekfest with my girls!!!). Eeee!!! I can't wait for both of these things to happen!!!

Now all I need is for the job situation to resolve itself sooner rather than later. *crosses fingers*
