Some aspects of real life are epically nightmarish at the moment. I can't really talk about it on a public forum, but many, many thanks to all of you who have sent your love, support, prayers and good thoughts. Y'all are the best and I love you!

Despite anything else that's happening, the search for employment continues, as it must, since sadly no one seems to be willing to pay me to flit around the globe to attend Adam Lambert concerts and adding "expert skill level at glitter application" to my resume doesn't seem to have netted any leads. :( I have two interviews on Monday, so, you know, any good job gettin' mojo you can toss my way would be awesome! I'm trying to not to be too narrow in my job search, looking at possibilities out of state and even at non-traditional type ways to put my legal experience to use. So I've got some leads in places like Las Vegas and L.A. and even New Orleans that I'm following up on. I'm really working at not rushing the process, but, really, while not having an alarm go off in the wee hours is cool and all, this not-working business ain't really my thing. So, you know, keep that good job gettin' mojo flowing this way, kthnx. :D

Thankfully there's been tons of pretty damn good t.v. on my DVR to provide some distraction from the craziness swirling around me. Ahhh, escapism. *g*

White Collar: Holy smokes, I finally watched the last few episodes. )

Drop Dead Diva: You guys, this show is such awesome, fluffy brain cotton candy! It's completely ridiculous and yet somehow charming.

Sons of Anarchy: Ok, so I hadn't seen the last two episodes of the last season, because my DVR randomly decided that it had to delete them a few months back. It's been torture waiting for the DVDs to release, and then when they did I was out of town, so I couldn't catch up, which meant I couldn't watch the season opener, and, GAH! Torture! But I finally got my season 2 DVDs and I saw how last season ended and I saw the episodes that have run so far and good god DAMN this show continues to blow my mind! ) This is just some damn good television.

Hawaii Five-O: Ok, I had no idea what to expect from this and I really only watched this to get a glimpse of Norman Reedus on my television screen, but I gotta say that this pilot was really pretty damn good. It was high energy and action-packed, pulling me in from the first scene and keeping me there until the end. The dynamic between the characters was crisp and and totally entertaining. And there's certainly no lack of pretty on this show. Damn. I would tune in again for the pretty alone. This one's totally earned a spot on my DVR this season.

I'm still woefully behind on Leverage, Friday Night Lights and Supernatural (I still haven't finished with season 5 -- I am in NOT ready for a sixth season!). But, I also have plenty that I could use distracting from, so hopefully I'll get caught up soon.

Is there any new t.v. that y'all are watching? What are you loving right now? Distract me with awesome t.v., people! :D
If it weren't for the lack of fire and brimstone, I'd swear I was living in hell. You know, if I believed in hell. Seriously, though, it's 111 degrees outside. That's downright inhospitable. I've been drinking water all day and no matter how much I drink I can't seem to stay hydrated. I'm a parched, sweaty, irritable mess right now. :/ But, on the plus side, I did escape the office early today for a dentist appointment and now I'm home, so at least I can be a parched, sweaty, irritable mess while in my pajamas instead of a suit!

So, Emmy nominations? I was happy to see Glee get so many nods, and I was thrilled to see Kyle Chandler's and Connie Britton's sheer awesomeness finally acknowledged, but what the hell is with Friday Night Lights not getting the nomination for best drama? And True Blood did? Really??? And a big ol' NADA for Sons of Anarchy or Katie Segal??? *boggles* But, plus side! YAY Kyle and Connie and Glee!!!!!

A definite plus for today was the ruling by a federal judge in Massachusetts finding that the federal definition of marriage as only between a man and a woman, as codified in the Defense of Marriage Act, is unconstitutional. The irony is that this decision is from a Nixon appointed judge. And he based his ruling on federalism grounds, finding that DOMA encroaches on the state's right to determine marriage. As my former Ninth Circuit co-clerk put it: I love it when federalism turns around and bites Christian Conservatives in the ass! :D

Also: 48 hours in the Countdown to Glam!!!! PLUS! PLUS! PLUS!!!!!! *g*

Ok, I'm going to go drink more water and sit in front of a fan. I hope y'all are keeping cool today!

hodgepodge

Jul. 6th, 2010 03:21 pm
I had a lovely holiday weekend. I drove down to Tucson for the 4th and spent the day splashing around in the pool, eating yummy food, and drinking delicious adult beverages with the familia. I also got a much needed hair cut from my cousin, who set up the back porch as an outdoor salon and styled and cut just about everyone's hair, all while wearing a bikini and high heels. She has an excellent rack so I think that this would make for a very lucrative business idea! Hell, I'm her cousin and so not interested in her rack in any prurient sense, and still tipped her well for the value added service. *g*

I was offline all weekend, so I'm probably behind on everyone and everything. If something terribly exciting and/or important happened in your life in the past five days, please do let me know.

Otherwise, it's occurred to me that there are a variety of assorted things that I've yet to ramble about here, so I think I'll do that now.

:: Last Thursday the D'backs (finally!) fired A.J. Hinch as Manager and GM Josh Byrnes. If you've not picked up on my deep and abiding hatred for A.J. you've just not been paying attention. I literally let out a whoop of joy when I got the text about the firings. A.J. should never have been managing a major league team and we shouldn't be keeping around a GM who thought that hiring him was a good idea. So, yeah, I'm pretty damn happy that they're both gone. I think Kurt Gibson was the right choice for interim manager and I'm curious to see what the franchise decides to do going forward. No matter what they do, I don't think it's possible to make a worse choice than A.J. Of course, getting rid of the faux-manager and the idiot GM in no way is going to solve all of this team's problems. Let's face it, we're a fucking mess. But it's certainly a good start, and I'm glad to see the D'backs ownership finally make that move.

:: I'm not sure what it is with me and technology lately, but the Electronic Gods seem to be angry with me. First it was my laptop that had a complete meltdown. Almost $200 and two weeks later, and it's finally back and in working order. Then today I discover that my iPod has apparently suffered some type of stroke. It's still playing, but my screen is completely out and the menu function doesn't work; so I can only play what I was playing when it was last working properly. Now y'all know that I love Adam Lambert like WHOA, but I'm thinking that at some point soon I'll want to listen to something else. I found a used, but functional iPod on eBay at a relatively cheap price that I'm hoping will hold me over until I potentially get an iPhone next year. But, seriously, what do I need to do to get back in the Electronic Gods' good favor again???

Speaking of electronic gadgets, though, I did order that Flip video camera and it should be arriving this week -- here's hoping it's resistant to this electronics curse I'm suffering under.

:: I got caught up on Friday Night Lights yesterday, and, really, I don't think it's possible for me to love this show any more. Coach Taylor continues to be one of my favorite male characters on t.v. right now. Also, Coach Taylor soaking wet on the sidelines is a beautiful thing! And the Riggins brothers continue to be well intentioned but incredibly stupid and I don't know what it says about me that I obviously have a soft spot for that kind of thing! And I want to be Mrs. T when I grow up. Seriously, she's just awesome in every way. And I'm really liking the diversity in the new characters and I'm enjoying the layers that are slowly being added to these new faces. In short, I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

:: Another show that I'm really diggin' is Drop Dead Diva. It's pure fluff, but it's enjoyable fluff. And I love that the main character is plus size, and yet the show isn't treating her or her story lines as if "plus size" is the only or even the main defining characteristic.

:: IN FOUR DAYS I WILL BE GETTING MY GLAM NATION ON!!!!! Louisville this weekend! So exciting!!! *throws glitter*
First of all, why are they so damn short??? You'd think we would have evolved to a regular three-day weekend now. Someone should really get on that.

Anyway, the weekend was full of sports craziness. Like Edwin Jackson's bizarre no-hitter on Friday -- he pitched like utter crap for the first 4 innings, walked 8, and threw almost 150 pitches, and still managed a no-hitter. Against the Rays! Craziness! Insane pitching year aside, it WAS good to finally win a road series. Jeez, D'backs, we might want to try to do this a little more often. Just a thought.

And then there was the horrible World Cup ref-ing. I'm not sure if the bad calls were dispositive, as both England and Mexico didn't really play to win. But, damn, if I can tell they're bad calls -- and I admittedly don't know much more about the game other than the very basics and "oh, pretty boys!" -- then you know it's pretty damn bad officiating. *shakes head* I did enjoy teasing my mom about her crush on Maradona, though. I don't get it, but she obviously had a thing for short Latin me with a tendency toward dramatics and abuse of the Tres Flores hair products. *laughs*

Since I didn't have a computer this weekend, I read (Nora Roberts' "Black Hills") and managed to watch some of the t.v. languishing on my DVR. I got caught up with the Leverage premier, but I didn't watch last night's episode. Hardison is still my favorite geek on TV! *loves* I watched a few of the Supernatural season 5 episodes that I have to watch. I'm still nowhere near done with the season, so I'm still reserving both judgment and discussion. I still need to catch up with Friday Night Lights and Drop Dead Diva, but at least I made a small dent in my unwatched t.v. cache. *g*

Speaking of my laptop, though, my Computer Guy says he should have it back to me by tomorrow. *crosses fingers* I'm still leaning heavily toward a Mac, but I'd really prefer to put that purchase off until next year, so hopefully my laptop still has a little of life left in it.

But, what I am considering buying sooner rather than later is a Flip video cam. Does anyone have one? Since I have The Nieces living with me right now, I think it would be fun to have an easy video recorder to capture their antics. Plus, I'm thinking it would be good to have for all the traveling/concert-going I'll be doing this summer. Thoughts on the Flip?

may ends

May. 31st, 2010 11:03 pm
After feeling like road kill for a good part of last week and most of the holiday weekend, today I woke up feeling human again! Yay! My throat is still feeling a little raw and this annoying cough is still, well, annoying, but other than that I feel good! I literally spent most of Friday and all of Saturday and Sunday sleeping, which was apparently exactly what I needed.

Today I did some shopping, then we went to my aunt's house for a barbecue, some pool time and some yummy watermelon!!! Watermelon means it's officially summer! :)

Other than marathon nappage, my only other accomplishments for the weekend were catching up on Friday Night Lights, watching the Drop Dead Diva marathon yesterday, and reading a good part of the new Nightrunner book. So despite the feeling like crap part, I'm calling it a damn good weekend! *g*

So, all this time doing next to nothing meant I had a lot of time to think of crazy shenanigans I needed to be getting up to once I was back to well. Y'all realize that this is NOT going to end well, right? *g* Anyway, I think I might see about going to Adam's Louisville concert on July 10th. It's on a Saturday. The Saturday after I get done with my July trial, so I will definitely be needing the break. Plus I have friends in Louisville that I haven't seen in way too long. So, um, yeah, anyone feel like a weekend trip to Louisville??? *bats eyelashes*

Speaking of soliciting partners in crime glitter, J won't be able to make the Denver concert after all, so we have a ticket to sell and, while I'll go either way, a traveling buddy would be nice. Anyone interested in a weekend jaunt to Denver in July? *beams*

Also, this may not be amusing to anyone other than me, but I just caught my brother singing "Whataya Want From Me"!!! *laughs and laughs*

So, how did everyone enjoy their long weekend? I'm hoping y'all managed to do exactly what you needed to this weekend, even if it WAS sleeping for three days straight! *mwah*
Hello, Thursday! Damn, you got here quickly. I'm still trying to dig my way out of the chaos that 2 sick days created on my desk.

But I'm distracting myself with the pretty boys from Glee. Yesterday it was Matt Morrison's ridiculously lickable abs and today it's Mark Salling delicious ARMS!!! *bites lip*

Photobucket

And, I'm also greatly amused by his gooftastic facial expressions. *g* )

These are apparently from Mark's recent GQ photo shoot. Dear media, please keep taking lovely pictures of the pretty Glee boys!

Speaking of happy-making t.v. shows, season two of Drop Dead Diva premiers on June 6th! This show is DELIGHTFUL and I can't wait to have it back on my t.v.

OMG, and about those t.v. shows that are back on my t.v., FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS IS AIRING ON NBC!!! I did not KNOW this until last Friday when it suddenly showed up on my DVR. How did I not know this??? Y'all have been slacking on your flist duties by not bringing this very important news to my attention! *glares* Apparently it started running the week before that, but since the space on my DVR was full, I didn't realize I had missed the first episode until I was half way through the second and COMPLETELY LOST! *laughs* But I caught got caught up, and oh my ra, I LOVE THIS SHOW! I can't wait to get to know the new characters, and Coach Taylor continues to be one of the hottest men on the planet and his wife is one hell of a fierce and sexy bitch! *loves and loves*

Ok, and while many most of you don't care, I'm still gonna flail a bit about Adam's upcoming tour. We finally have dates for his L.A. and San Diego shows. He's playing in L.A. on July 25th and San Diego on the 30th. Which means I'll now be flying from San Francisco (where my mom and I will be catching his show on Friday the 23rd and then sticking around the city on Saturday to do fun touristy things!) to L.A. on Sunday for his show that night and then flying home on Monday morning. It also means that I'll be missing Kris Allen's show here in Phoenix on the 25th. Sorry, Pocket Idol! I really DO want to see you play live some day, but, as everyone knows, Adam is a toppy bastard and a girl's gotta have her priorities. *g*

Sooooo, this is what that last week in July is looking like: my mom and I will fly to San Francisco on Friday afternoon for the show that night and we'll kick it in the city on Saturday, on Sunday I'll fly to L.A. for that show; I'll then be flying home Monday morning and going straight to the office; then I'm flying back to California on Tuesday afternoon for the two OC Fair shows, flying back home on Thursday morning; and then again (probably, as I haven't yet worked out these details) flying out to San Diego on Friday afternoon for that show, and then flying home on Saturday morning to be here for the Lady Gaga show that night! *tries to breathe* OMG this is insane! *laughs* But I can't wait!
I had a perfectly-lazy, do-nothing, watch-tv, order-in-dinner, completely-WONDERFUL Saturday. Which means that I'm finally caught up on most of my television shows! Yay!

Friday Night Lights )

Battlestar Galactica )

Kings )

Now the only thing I have left on my DVR is Terminator: The Sarah Conor Chronicles. And, of course, there are still the Brotherhood DVDs that have been sadly unwatched for way too long. But, my point is, I'm almost all caught up! What? This is productivity. Of a sort. :)

In other news...BASEBALL!!!!!!!! *g* The D'backs' home opener is tomorrow, but there should be baseball on my t.v. screen sometime today. Except that Cox Cable FAILS in every way that matters to my life!!! *grumble* Not only have the hi-def feeds been completely crap for the past month, but they still haven't provided me with the MLB Network!!! What is this fuckery??? Have any local folks been able to get a more definitive answer from them than I have on when we're going to get it and where?
1. I have a job interview tomorrow at noon for that judicial clerkship I've going on about lately. I really want this job. I cannot stress that enough. Really. Want. This. Job. So, if you could spare a good thought or two, or, you know, how ever many you might have available, I would certainly appreciate any positive job mojo you could direct this way. *takes a deep breath and soaks up the good job mojo*

2. Tomorrow, after said job interview, I think I'm taking Rianna to a spring training game. She's on spring break and when I asked her what she wanted to do on her Hanging Out with Tía Gigi Day, she picked baseball from her several options. That's my girl! *g*

3. We were just talking about Merlin on NBC this weekend, and it looks as if there has finally been a date set for that happy occurrence. On June 21st there will finally be Arthurian goodness on my television!!! *bounces*

4. I finally watched last week's Supernatural and got caught up with Legend of the Seeker. While my enjoyment of Supernatural remains unchanged, my fannishness seems to have inexplicably waned, such that I don't really feel compelled to talk about the show. *shrugs* Yeah, I really don't know either. Legend of the Seeker, though, continues to be fluffy fun times. Although I was a bit sad that Richard did not take off his shirt in this last episode. What is this craziness??? I prefer my Seeker shirtless, please!

5. Still unwatched and waiting patiently on my DVR are the last three episodes of Battlestar Galactica, last week's Friday Night Lights, and the premier of Kings (which I'm hearing SO many good things about and I can't wait to watch!). But, unless I can manage some unheard of productivity between now and Thursday, these shows will probably remain unwatched until I get back next week.

6. I leave for California on Friday, for at least 5 days and possibly up to 9 days of FUN TIMES! There's a whole long weekend full of various shenanigans planned with the Texas Boy. And then I'll have some time to spend with my girls, which will be awesome, not only because THEY are awesome, but because it has been a long time since I've seen some of them! I'm leaving my return trip unplanned for now, in hopes that I'll know more about the job situation by then and will feel better about staying the whole week. But YAY!!! California here I come! *beams*

7. I'm watching Dancing with the Stars tonight as I get some work done and finalize my writing sample. So far my observations include only the fact that Dmitry has adorable dimples and a very sexy backside. He's hot coming and going!
I spent the morning in court trying to figure out my trial schedule for April, given the fact that if things go right at next week's interview, I'll hopefully be working for the court soon and having to withdraw from all of my pending cases. So, after much wrangling and one very unhappy prosecutor later, we decided to schedule one trial for April 6, a second trial on April 13, with the possibility of continuing the earlier trial to the end of the month if I don't get the clerkship. It wasn't until I got home that I remembered that the D'backs' Home Opener is on April 6th. In the afternoon. Right about the time that I'll be picking a jury. *sobs* I really wanted to go to that game! I even have my tickets already! There's the possibility that the April 6th trial will be continued to the end of the month, freeing me up to go to the game, but only if I don't get the clerkship. As much as I love my D'backs and miss baseball like woah and would really love to be at the Home Opener, I still want the clerkship more. I just wish it didn't have to be one or the other! *sadface*

In happier news, though, I get [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish in just 3 days for a fun-filled SPRING TRAINING BASEBALL WEEKEND!!!!! *bounces* Despite my best efforts, Saturday's game is going to be the first spring training game I make it to this season. I'm very excited! My girls!!! Baseball!!! Sunshine! Sunburns! Beer! Hotdogs! Hot baseball players!!! So much to be GLEEFUL about!!!!

Other happy things include:

1. Friday Night Lights is possibly getting picked up for TWO MORE SEASONS!!! (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azewewish for the very happy-making heads up.) Seriously, this show remains THE best show on television. If you're not watching it, I can't even begin to fathom why. I will be happy beyond measure if we get it for another two years! Speaking of the awesomeness that is FNL, I finally got a chance to read Scott Porter's blog about Jason's last show and I cried like a crying thing! (Note: link has spoilers up to Episode 3.8.) The episode last Friday shredded me, and then reading about what was happening behind the scenes just had me crying all over again. Gods, I love this show so hard!

2. Nathan Fillion was on my T.V. last night!!! I'm not entirely sure yet what I think of Castle (as with most pilots, I think it needs a few episodes to acquit itself and I'm willing to give it that much before I form an opinion), but I am absolutely certain that Nathan is still inexplicably HOT LIKE FIRE, and I am very happy to have his awesome, quirky face on my television again! Also, bonus Poke from Generation Kill!!! *glee*

3. Apparently Merlin is still in the wings for NBC, and is looking at a late spring call up. *grabby hands*

4. I am oddly intrigued by the premise in Kings, which premiers this Sunday. It's a modern-day retelling of the story of David and Goliath. Restorying biblical mythology with rumored gay characters (reported here) and incredibly hot actors (HELLO Christopher Egan and Sebastian Stan!) -- what's not to love???

I hate leaving a list at 4, but I don't have time for a #5. I have to work on my writing sample, so that I can land that awesome clerkship job, so that I can miss the D'backs' home opener. Yay! With a side order of *woe*.
It was an absolutely gorgeous day, sunny and warm and PERFECT, so I decided to enjoy the outside awesomeness and head out to the Desert Botanical Garden for the Chihuly: The Nature of Glass exhibit. It was AMAZING! Such brilliant colors and fantastical shapes. It was the coolest thing to be walking along in the desert, with it's muted greens and grays, and then to suddenly spot a brilliant shot of color among the cactus. It was just beautiful.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the pretty glass sculptures. )

And one of me getting sunburned! )

So after enjoying the pretty glass, I spent the rest of the day with the Jonas Brothers. *facepalm* I had promised my niece, Rianna, that I'd take her and her cousins to see the movie. So, like the awesome aunt that I am, I did. Let me just say that I get major Tía brownie points for sitting through almost 2 hours of the Jonas brothers in 3-D. The only way that those two hours could have been even mildly enjoyable NOT ANNOYING is with a hell of a lot of alcohol in my system. Sadly, all I had available to me was a diet Coke and some Red Vines. Caffeine and sugar were not helpful to the situation! The girls loved it though and I obviously lived to tell the tale, so all turned out well in the end.

Now I'm catching up on some t.v.: Sarah Connor Chronicles, what the hell was that? Friday Night Lights, thank you for continuing to be made of all that is awesome! Dollhouse, hm, I didn't hate you as much this week as I did the last two weeks; perhaps I'll not delete you from my DVR just yet. Leverage, I miss you already - please come back to me soon!!!
1. I managed to make it through the day and NOT stab my client! No, really, this was an ACCOMPLISHMENT! But, even better, was the TWO HOUR NAP I took when I got home!!!

2. Light rail employees were giving out Valentine's day cards and chocolate this morning as we piled on the train for the morning commute. Admittedly, the chocolate kiss wasn't the most nutritious of breakfasts, but it made me SMILE!

3. Today I'm sore from my shoulder blades to my ass and quads, and while soreness isn't normally happy-making, it makes the list because it reminds me of the kick-ass workout I had yesterday with the new Trainer!Boy. So many squats! And boxing! I love the boxing! It's SO cathartic to just hit something!

4. Pitchers and catchers report in 15 HOURS AND 6 MINUTES!!!! Spring training is HERE!!!!!!!!! *flails wildly* Anyone wanna plan on catching some spring training games with me?

5. Lots of awesome new t.v. tonight!!! New Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles!!! Friday Night Lights!!! And Dollhouse premiers tonight!!!

In other news, I'm glad to hear that folks are heading out to see Friday the 13th, because I'm all for supporting the boys' work, but I just don't think I can! I barely made it through My Bloody Valentine and that was with food and alcohol at the Drafthouse to distract me from the gore on the screen. I just don't DO horror flicks. So, while I wish him every success, I don't think I'm going to be contributing to that success myself. Sorry Jared! I still love you (even though I really don't like those new pictures of you -- please step away from the eyeliner)!

And, finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] dellastarr!!! ♥ I hope your day was full of things that make you happy and I hope the year ahead bring all manner of unexpected blessings your way!
This show kills me. I don't think there's any shame in admitting that I cried like a baby tonight. *sniff*

Also, Coach Taylor in a sweaty, clingy t-shirt is one of the hottest things ever. Trufax.

* * *

My pizza tonight was FREE!!! Granted, it was two hours late due to the delivery driver getting in an accident. But still, free pizza! Free, DELICIOUS pizza!!!
It's important, I think, to end the week on a high note. To that end, a happy list.

:: I found last night's episode of Supernatural thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you, Show, for bringing back the AWESOMENESS!!!

:: Texas Boy is still making me ridiculously happy. Yeah, I have no idea either, but I'm rolling with it. *g*

:: The widget on the Diamondbacks' homepage informs me that there are only 21 days, 14 hours, and 15 minutes until pitchers and catchers report!!!

:: Our President and First Lady fill my heart with glee! )

:: My niece, Rianna, just sent me a voice message of her singing me a song she made up just for me! It is totally off key and hilarious and undoubtedly the most adorable thing I've ever heard!!! *loves*

:: Friday Night Lights is still one of the BEST shows on television. And Coach Taylor continues to be hot like burning, and his hotness increases exponentially with his grumpy mood!

Monday

Jan. 12th, 2009 11:35 pm
Today was an incredibly productive day -- I whipped through significant portions of this week's To Do list. Sadly, however, I still have approximately one bazillion things to do before I leave for Austin Thursday morning! *panics* It would also please me greatly if I can make time for a good workout and a Nia class this week, but that might be asking a lot of the 50 or so hours until I fly out. I am, however, still hopeful that my Time Management Super Powers will kick in to high gear this week.

I watched the newest Legend of the Seeker episode today. All I have to say about that is this... ) Please tell me I'm not the only one who found that ridiculously HOT! *bites lip*

In other shiny t.v. news, several shows will be back on our television screens this week -- Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, and Friday Night Lights (for us without DirectTV). This is all VERY EXCITING!!!

Let's see. What else? Oh, yes. Apparently Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen really are engaged to be married now. I guess Tom had to salvage something out of what was otherwise a complete mess of a season. Good for them both. They are ridiculously hot individually, and together it's almost more pretty than is cosmically possible. So, yeah, I hope they continue to be happy being pretty together!

(Also. Man, I missed using my Tom Brady icon this season!!! Marital status not withstanding, I really hope he's healthy and back on the field come August!)
Well, "festivities" is probably an overstatement. But my weekend, festive or otherwise, certainly is now officially underway. I don't have court tomorrow, and I got all my jail visits done today, so I'm declaring tomorrow a day off! The start of my long weekend has been officially kicked off by the the drinking of rum!!! So, as long as the rum keeps flowing, festivities may happen after all. *g*

I've had [livejournal.com profile] annkiri here for a few days thanks to her car woes. While I'm sorry she's having to deal with the annoyance and expense of car troubles, I am very happy indeed to have had the chance to spend some extra time with her. Tuesday we went to the ball park and enjoyed watching the Diamondbacks beat the Padres from great seats right behind the home dugout. Good times!

Me and Becca after Tuesday's game. )

There shall be MOAR BASEBALL this weekend as I have tickets to both tomorrow's and Saturday's games. Yay!!! \o/

Unrelatedly, I am distressed that I have yet to read any swimmer slash. I know the Hot Boys in Water portion of the Olympics are over, but I still NEED some Michael/Ryan fic. Where is it? Also, this ESPN piece left me hankering for Michael/Ian fic. "I'm happy to help him out if he wants a hand with some of these things," the Aussie said. See? There NEEDS to be fic dammit!

Also apropos of nothing at all, have y'all seen this video of a recent GQ photo shoot of the girls of Friday Night Lights? Smokin' hot! Speaking of FNL, do we have any idea when the new season starts? *wants*

Ok, back to this weekend thing. But first, I need MORE RUM!!!
Thing the First: NEW SUPERNATURAL TOMORROW!!!!!!!! *bounces* I miss the Winchester boys saving people, hunting things, and just being AWESOME! Oh, show, please to be bringing back the awesometasticness that made me love you in the first place.

Thing the Second: Friday Night Lights, Season 2, is now available on DVD!!! I've ordered mine from Amazon and I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive so that I can roll around in FNL goodness for days 'n' days. ♥

Thing the Third: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will be back for a 13-episode second season!!! And Brian Austin Green will be back as a series regular! All of which reminds me that I still need to watch the last 4 (or 5?) episodes. But Fox doesn't seem to be streaming them any longer. Anyone know where I can find downloads, or do I have to wait until the DVD comes out in August? Also, anyone have recs for SCC fic?

Thing the Fourth: I simply COULD NOT wait until the August season two DVD release for more of the Caffee brothers. So I'm currently downloading the second season of Brotherhood from iTunes!!! \o/ TOMMY!!! MICHAEL!!! Your hotass selves will soon be on my screen again!!! *joy*

Thing the Fifth: The Diamondbacks are having a great April with a 15-5 record in the first 3 1/2 weeks of the season! Go D-backs!!! Also, Doug Davis seems to be on the mend after his April 9th surgery to remove a cancerous thyroid, taking to the cage for some batting practice this week. Go Doug!!! And next week there shall be MOAR BASEBALL with [livejournal.com profile] technosage when the D-backs take on the Mets!!! Go us!!!

Thing the Sixth: Jared Padalecki in a tank top!!!!!! OMGZ, how so BURNING HOT Jared??? *bites lip*

Thing the Seventh: I'll be in Tucson this weekend to get my dose of latino culture at the International Mariachi Conference. Listening to mariachi music always makes me want to drink tequila. *shrugs* I don't even know. It's like a genetic tick that goes into hyper-drive whenever the music starts. So, you know, a whole weekend of mariachi music and the resulting tequila can get very, very interesting. *g*

That's a lot of happy-makin' things!!! *twirls*
- I went to see "P.S. I Love You" yesterday. The movie was cute if a bit too sappy in parts. But the movie could be completely devoid of any other redeeming value and it would still be worth watching for Gerard Butler's arms and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's ass and thighs! So HOT and delectable, both of them. Mmmmmmm.

- Friday Night Lights!!! )

- In "Yay for Me!" news, I finally got back to the gym this week, after letting my work out routine get shot all to hell with the holidays. I'm working with a new trainer, who, sadly is not a hot male stripper. But she seems to know her stuff, and she's only my interim trainer until Trainer!Boy and I can coordinate our schedules again. We had a good workout on Thursday and I'm appropriately sore today, which, despite my moaning and groaning, is actually a good thing.

- I hadn't made much "Mom and Me" time lately, what with a good deal of travel and the holidays and work, so I bought us tickets to see Lou Diamond Phillips in "Camelot" next weekend. She's quite excited and I'm looking forward to seeing the Silver Boots of Awesomeness!

- Today shall be a Day of Football! \o/ Go Seahawks!!! Go Pats!!!
It's Friday! Friday's are for HAPPY! Therefore there shall be a Happy List!

- Rain!!! It's been raining all day and I love it! (Of course, I don't love the way Arizona drivers turn into raging idiots whenever the roads are a bit wet. *grumbles*)

- Dance!!! After months and months and months, I finally got back to the dance studio this week. And, to my great surprise and delight, I didn't actually forget everything like I thought I might have. There are definitely some muscles that I need to get back into the practice of moving certain ways not normally involved in, you know, sitting on my ass, but generally the dancing felt good. I'm looking at next year's calendar to see when I might be able to do a competition. There's Nationals in Vegas in April. Five days in Vegas, dancing and partying, sounds like an awesome plan, but I might be in trial. So that may not work. In any case, I really want to do a comp next year. It will be good incentive to keep me consistent and to push my own boundaries with dance.

- Gym!!! Speaking of getting up off my ass, I also started back at the gym this week after an inexcusable lapse of several weeks. I don't think I've earned my trainer's forgiveness yet, but it did feel good to get back on that particular wagon.

- Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon!!! Perfect on a cold and rainy night. Yum!

- Break Loose!!! Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] technosage posted busting through them gates, part of her Break Loose Ranch verse. Anything I might say about this piece would be inadequate. It's beautiful and rich and emotionally dense. And hot. Really, really hot. It definitely belongs on this week's Happy List.

- Friday Night Lights!!! The FNL Happy! )
It's Friday peoples!!! I was gonna say "thank the gods this craptacular week is over." But, this week has been nothing but a bitchfest. And, quite frankly, I'm tired of my own whining. So, instead, I bring y'all a Happy List!!!

Happy Makin' Thing the First: My cinnamon dolce latte with four shots of espresso. *vibrates*

Happy Makin' Thing the Second: Feeling better with the aid of good drugs!!! I'm not 100% yet, but I'm definitely feeling better than I have been in the past week.

Happy Makin' Thing the Third: SUPERNATURAL!!! Unmitigated squee! )

Happy Makin' Thing the Fourth: This. Down. Playing here on Monday. And, I just bought tickets! And, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish is coming to town to go see them with me! And,...well no additional "and." Except that all of this fills me with glee! Also, I have no illusions that [livejournal.com profile] azewewish is driving all the way from L.A. to see me, for she has disabused me of any such presumptions on my part. No. It's really all about Philip Anselmo (with his Arms of Tattooed Hotness deserving special note). I wish I could call her to task for such shallowness. My brain, however, sort of implodes every time I look at his arms, making it impossible for me to form actual words. I guess that makes both of us equally shallow. *g* I digress, though. Down! On Monday! With one of my L.A. Hookers! Exceedingly happy making!!!

Happy Makin' Thing the Fifth: It's Friday!!! This is happy making for several reasons. One, after a (hopefully) brief jail visit, my work week is over. Two, the weekend, with all it's attendant rest, relaxation, and football watchin' commences shortly thereafter. (There will actually have to be slightly more productivity this weekend than that, but, still, it's the weekend!) Three, a new episode of Friday Night Lights!!! Love. That. Show.
So there were some premiers last week for a couple of shows that I might like. A little. Or, you know, LOVE WITH THE BURNING FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. But with all the travel, and drunkenness, and hangovers, and such (what? I've been busy. *hands*), I haven't had time to properly squee and flail. So, this is my belated squee and random commentary and assorted flail, in bulleted list form because I'm lazy we all know I love lists.

Supernatural 3x01: The Magnificent Seven )

Friday Night Lights )

In other news...it's MONDAY!!! Which, in the normal course of things, isn't really cause for celebration. But this Monday? This is the Monday before WinCon!!! YAYZ!!! I'm so excited, I may have already started packing.

Also, while packing, doing laundry, and digging through the boxes of clothes in my garage yesterday, I discovered a box of t-shirts that had gone MIA and a whole box of clothing that was too small back in February when I moved, but which fits now! It was like a shopping spree, without the attendant damage to my credit card! \o/

Finally, [livejournal.com profile] wrenlet posted a link to her pictures of Steve Carlson and the other musicians that rocked it out in Dallas Friday night. Go ogle enjoy!
