Belated squee and other random bits.

So there were some premiers last week for a couple of shows that I might like. A little. Or, you know, LOVE WITH THE BURNING FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. But with all the travel, and drunkenness, and hangovers, and such (what? I've been busy. *hands*), I haven't had time to properly squee and flail. So, this is my belated squee and random commentary and assorted flail, in bulleted list form because I'm lazy we all know I love lists.
Supernatural 3x01: The Magnificent Seven
Friday Night Lights
In other news...it's MONDAY!!! Which, in the normal course of things, isn't really cause for celebration. But this Monday? This is the Monday before WinCon!!! YAYZ!!! I'm so excited, I may have already started packing.
Also, while packing, doing laundry, and digging through the boxes of clothes in my garage yesterday, I discovered a box of t-shirts that had gone MIA and a whole box of clothing that was too small back in February when I moved, but which fits now! It was like a shopping spree, without the attendant damage to my credit card! \o/
Finally,
wrenlet posted a link to her pictures of Steve Carlson and the other musicians that rocked it out in Dallas Friday night. Go ogle enjoy!
Supernatural 3x01: The Magnificent Seven
- Important Point #1: OUR SHOW IS BACK!!! The boys. They're back. And they're looking as gorgeous as ever. Hello, boys!
- Hells Bells!!! Great choice.
- Dean in a wife beater! Much love to the person in wardrobe who made that fine choice.
- Is it just me, or is Jensen looking especially beautiful this season? That scene at the family's house, when Dean's opening the door and walking out on to the porch? DAMN. Just damn.
- The seven deadly sins. I liked the concept. I wish we'd had more screen time with the various sins. But I liked it. "I am Legion. For we are many." Biblical references FTW! \o/
- Bobby. I kinda love him. A lot. Posing as a prosecutor with the suit and the slicked back hair! Keeping the boys in line! Quoting Animal House! Yeah. I kinda love him.
- That scene before the big fight, in the room with the candles, when the boys are readying their weapons? Yeah, that one. How much do I love their ability to communicate layers of emotion and meaning without saying a word? Gods. These boys. They kill me. Also, could they look any hotter???
- The Boy King!!!
- Ruby. I'm intrigued. Her fight scene sorta kicked ass. I don't know what I think of the character one way or the other, but the show left me wanting to know more about her. Which, I think, is a great way to handle her introduction.
- Heh. Sam's oh so witty come back: "Well I just saved yours too." Oh, Sam. *pets*
- Dean's dialed-up hedonism and flippant attitude as a reaction to the deal he made. I get it and I think it makes sense. I kinda hope we get to see a wider range of reactions from him, because I don't think that sustaining the emotional flippancy, especially toward Sam, is consistent with Dean's character, but as an initial coping mechanism it works.
- Sam calling Dean on his shit! Way to go, Sammy!
- Oh, boys. I thought I was going to make it through this episode without tears. I was wrong. Jared did a great job with the emotions of that last scene. And Jensen. Dear gods, Jensen can break my heart with just a look. *wibbles*
- In conclusion: OUR SHOW IS BACK!!! I didn't have the same emotional reaction to this episode as I did to "In My Time of Dying." But the show is in a different place and, regardless, I liked it. Mostly, though, I'm just happy that our show is back. *g*
Friday Night Lights
- Gods. How much do I love this show?!?!
- I really liked the opening scene. It was so very small town summer. Just perfect. Also, I think everyone ought to ask themselves WWRD? The world would be a
bettersexier place if they did. *nods* - I kinda like Julie's teenage rebellion, even though I wanted to send her to her room or ground her from the phone or something.
- Lyla's whole born again Christian thing, while it set my teeth on edge (for reasons having to do with an entire personal history of baggage around this topic and having nothing to do with the show itself), was So. Spot. On. Well done, show. Well done.
- Riggins. Love him. The end.
- Also, Coach Taylor is LOVE. Giving Matt advice in the store on fighting for his daughter!!! He's awesome that way! The scene with Tami where he leaves so she can break down? Perfect. Just perfect. (Connie Britton is freakin' brilliant!) And the one with Julie in the car? Oh, my heart.
- Tyra and Landry. Her night in shining armor!!! I love them. I do. But....Oh, kids. Whatcha thinkin'??? Although, I really do have faith that the show will handle that whole thing realistically and with the heart that characterizes this show. But, still...what were you guys thinking???
- Billy was there for Tim at the ring ceremony! I kinda love him too. The Riggins brothers FTW!!!
- In conclusion: THIS SHOW ROCKS.

Date: 2007-10-09 10:53 pm (UTC)Yes, Dean's reaction to his deal made oodles of sense but can't go too long. Agreedamundo.
Bobby is Da Bomb. The Boys need an older guy around sometimes, but without Dad Baggage. Bobby fits well.
What did you think of Tamara? I decided by the end I hope to see her again. I actually figured out the "dead child secret" but I thought the actress pulled it - and Dead Hubby at the Door - very very well.
Hubby & I were brainstorming about Ruby's knife. I'll be amused if he's right about it. ;->
"Hell's Bells" - yes. Headbanging happened. ;-D
BTW, I taught some new folks the infamous "No Fish" charm & it was immediately tried with Jensen. I had to tell that 1. It doesn't seem to work on people & 2. I have a friend that would totally kick his ass if he managed to call Jensen! ;-D
