I had a perfectly-lazy, do-nothing, watch-tv, order-in-dinner, completely-WONDERFUL Saturday. Which means that I'm finally caught up on most of my television shows! Yay!
Friday Night Lights continues to completely ROCK MY WORLD!
- I loved seeing Landry stand up for himself where Tyra was concerned. The Giving Tree speech was awesome and made me want to read the book again! (Side note: where the hell did my Giving Tree book go??? *is sad*) And Tyra's frustration over writing her personal statement was spot on. Man, I remember that. I remember struggling with all the trite bullshit that was so easy to get down on paper to try to get down to something that was true, that really reflected me. This show is just so good at getting all those details of life so right.
- And Coach's reaction to finding Julie in bed with Matt was PERFECT. His face!!! His shocked silence! His putting the whole thing on Tammy! *laughs* Perfect. And Tammy's talk with Julie!!! Dear gods, Show, way to make me cry like a baby!!! That was the most awkwardly perfect mom-daughter sex talk ever!
- I'm loving that they're actually growing Riggins up a bit. Oh, Lyla, you know you're a hot mess when Riggins is the one making sense!
- I'm still not feeling much for the new QB kid, but at least they're giving him a story line now. And, am I the only one that thinks he looks like Eli Manning??? This does not help his cause with me!!!
- And in this last episode, Coach's speech after the game was perfection! That's exactly why this show is so awesome!
I finally managed to watch the last two episodes of BSG. But I'm thinking that I somehow missed and managed to erase the one before that, because I had no idea why they were abandoning the Galactica. *shrugs* Oh, well. I guess that's incentive to buy the DVDs.
Anyway, I'm not sure I have much to say about the end. It was, for the most part, satisfying. Some parts felt rushed and unresolved, but, overall I liked it. I could have probably done without that last scene; it just felt superfluous. But I was expecting to be blown away by the ending and I really wasn't.
Dear gods, THIS SHOW!!! I am loving it and completely geeking out on all the Biblical references and imagery! All of the characters are fascinating and complex. And I'm really interested to see how they will develop this world. I'm officially hooked!
Now the only thing I have left on my DVR is Terminator: The Sarah Conor Chronicles. And, of course, there are still the Brotherhood DVDs that have been sadly unwatched for way too long. But, my point is, I'm almost all caught up! What? This is productivity. Of a sort. :)
In other news...BASEBALL!!!!!!!! *g* The D'backs' home opener is tomorrow, but there should be baseball on my t.v. screen sometime today. Except that Cox Cable FAILS in every way that matters to my life!!! *grumble* Not only have the hi-def feeds been completely crap for the past month, but they still haven't provided me with the MLB Network!!! What is this fuckery??? Have any local folks been able to get a more definitive answer from them than I have on when we're going to get it and where?
