So, it seems as if an army of contagions stealthily entered and marched through my home last night, because everyone in the household woke up feeling like various degrees of crap. Blerg.

Suffice it to say, I wasn't feeling particularly sparkly today. But then Cheeks tweeted a serious of shiny things and replied to one of my tweets and suddenly I'm sparkling harder! *beams*

Also, in reading coverage of the Prop 8 trial, this made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside: Ms. Perry, a 45-year-old child services professional who brought the case with her partner, Sandra B. Stier, 47, and a male couple, recounted how she had slowly fallen in love with Ms. Stier. “I remember thinking that she was the sparkliest person I’d ever met,” Ms. Perry said, drawing giggles from the packed courtroom. N'awwwww x a billionty!!!!!! ♥

I like the record that these attorneys seem to be developing, one that covers both the personal side of the issue and the quantifiable harms of having to endure this kind of inequality through the experts they say they're going to put on. This case is going to be all about the record developed. And even though the trial court case is just the first step in what will be a long process, I do wish the Supreme Court would not have put the kibosh on the live streaming. I have no idea what irreparable harms they were imagining, and, more than anything, what an amazing educational opportunity for this country wasted, man. *shakes head*

Anyway, back to more sparkly things, Cassidy Haley has announced some tentative dates for his upcoming tour!!!

Two things of note: first, holy sparkly disco balls, he's playing both Phoenix AND Tucson!!!!!!!! Eeeeee!!!!! Just so you know, Arizona peoples, I'm expecting to see y'all there! And anyone who wants to roadtrip-it down to Tucson, just let me know and we will make this happen!

The second thing, and [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and I must share a brain because we had this thought virtually simultaneously, he's playing a weekend in New Orleans! And you know we were just lookin' for an excuse a good reason to plan the 2010 Hooker New Orleans Partay Weekend of Ultimate Debauchery!!! What? Of course that's the official name! *g* April 23rd and 24th, bitches! NOLA! Cassidy! Hooker shenanigans! Let's make this happen!!!!

Also, I need an icon that says "Sparkle Harder." Who's gonna make me one? *bats eyelashes*
Thing 1: It's Friday!!! Superfluous, I know. But, still, Fridays always deserve several exclamation points. Most especially Fridays before a three-day weekend!!!

Thing 2: Last night's Supernatural episode. )

Thing 3: How AWESOME was Game 1 between the Phillies and the Dodgers??? Very, I say -- very awesome! Also awesome is wrapping up my day early so that I can watch Game 2, which, by the way, the Phillies just took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. Go Phillies!!! \o/

Thing 4: I found a super-cute top today for my New Orleans trip -- for only $7.50!!! Bargain!

Thing 5: Speaking of Thing 4...ONLY 13 DAYS UNTIL NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I can hardly wait!!!

Thing 6: Way to go Connecticut Supreme Court!!! It's always a GOOD DAY when equal rights for ALL comes out the victor!
Sadly, I have nothing appropriately scary or creepy to accompany today's date. Unless you include work which is still looming in scary proportions, but while my clients are criminals, only a few of them are truly creepy. So that kinda fails for a Friday the 13th tie in as well.

But it IS the reason I've been MIA this week. *grumblebitchcomplain* Of the good, though, is that in an effort to save on gas, I've been driving into the office less and instead working from home. Which has the added benefit of allowing me to watch my Diamondbacks' afternoon games!

Speaking of baseball, I'll be heading to the ball park this evening to watch the D-Backs take on the Royals for some inter-league play. I'm really looking forward to it because it's been just too long since I've had me some BASEBALL!

Also of note on this weekend's agenda: I've got tickets to see a local production of Reefer Madness tomorrow. I'm mostly going because Trainer!Boy has the lead and if I don't he'll probably make me do a bazillion squats next week. It's a self preservation thing. Although it has been getting good press and might actually be funny and entertaining. We shall see.

I've also been making my travel plans for the rest of June and July. By some brilliant feat of planning, or the exact opposite of that, I am traveling to either L.A. or San Diego or both EVERY OTHER WEEK between the end of June and the middle of July! *facepalm* In between all that traveling? I'm doing two trials and preparing for a three week trial staring in August. Yeah. July should be very interesting.

Also interesting? The news that Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Alex Kozinski shares porn online. *laughs and laughs* When I clerked for the 9th Circuit, I thought Judge Kozinski was a complete ass. Brilliant, sure. But still an asshole. The news that he kept porn on his website though? Kinda makes me like the asshole.

Lastly, shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] drvsilla: Foto Friday!!! )

Hope y'all are having a non-scary, non-creepy and completely FANTASTIC Friday the 13th!
This, of course, is EXCELLENT NEWS! I've not read the full opinion yet (it's 121 pages long!), but what I've seen of the majority's opinion, the language, while obviously limited to California's constitution, seems to be expansive and potentially helpful in other such battles: California's ban on same-sex marriages violates the "basic human right to marry a person of one's choice." It also addresses and rejects the often used argument that allowing same-sex marriage somehow deprives opposite-sex married couples of something: allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry "will not deprive opposite-sex couples of any rights and will not alter the legal framework of the institution of marriage."

And while I absolutely think that today's California Supreme Court's decision should be wildly celebrated, because, hell yeah they got it right!, I also didn't want it to get lost in all the cheers the sad truth that this win could be short lived. So, ATTENTION CALIFORNIA VOTERS!!! There is a proposed ballot initiative (scroll down the page to #1298) currently pending signature verifications that could completely undo this victory. The initiative, if it makes it to the ballot and is approved by California voters in November, would amend the California Constitution to provide that marriage is only between a man and a woman. This would, in effect, supersede today's ruling. So, yeah. Be aware. Be informed. And vote!

And, in the meantime, CELEBRATE BECAUSE HELL YEAH THE CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT GOT IT RIGHT TODAY!!! *throws confetti*
