Earlier in the week I rearranged all my travel plans, made sure another attorney could cover my court appearances, rebooked my flight, rescheduled the rental car, in order to be in L.A. a day earlier to catch Adam Lambert's concert for the Jimmy Kimmel show. And about two and half minutes after I'd rearranged MY LIFE, ABC decided that Adam is still too gay for their network and canceled the whole thing. Bastards.

Don't even get me started about what I think of all this bullshit because for now, in an effort to control my rage, I'm focusing on the more petty annoyance of whether I change everything back or just head to L.A. a day earlier anyway. On the one hand, everything is all rearranged and I could use with getting the hell outa Dodge earlier rather than later; on the other hand, well, I'm not sure what's on the other hand other than plans now gone up in smoke. Decisions, decisions.

In other, life-rearranging kind of news, my criminal paralegal gave her notice yesterday and will be leaving next week. Egads! Who's going to run my life now??? *panics* The paralegal we're training to take her place is really good and I'm sure it'll be fine, but I hate the process of training someone new. It would be a lot easier if people just knew how to organize my life and make me happy!

I didn't intend for this post to be a bitch-fest, but since that's what it turned out to be, I feel compelled to end on a positive note. Tonight I have the dance showcase I've been working on! The last two nights it seems as if the entire routine just fell in to place. I stopped over thinking it and just let myself feel it and it's just working now! One of the other dance instructors was watching us run through it last night and suggested we have a couple of hot guys making out in the back, just to maintain the integrity of the song. *laughs* I told him I was all on board with that plan, to make it happen! So, we'll see what he comes up with. *g* But, yay! Tonight! *crosses fingers*
The random lyric is completely irrelevant except for that fact that Lady Gaga has announced her 'Monster Ball' tour dates!!! She won't be making a Phoenix stop, but she will be in both L.A. and San Diego in December. Road trip! Who wants to join me? *beams*

In other Thursday randomness, have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying Eastwick? It's completely cheesy, but, DAMN, there are some amazingly hot women gracing my television screen on Wednesday nights.

See what I mean?

Rebecca Romijn looks hotter than ever. It looks as if she maybe gained a few pounds for this role. Whatever she did, it's working for her! And Lindsay Price has always been smokin' hot, but she's totally rocking the glasses, hot-nerdy look in this show.

Hot chicks! )

And I'm loving Paul Gross in the role of Daryl so much more than Jack Nicholson. Come on. I can't be the only one watching Eastwick and spending my Wednesday nights perving over the three hot witches!

outa steam

Sep. 29th, 2009 08:18 pm
Man, I'm wiped. I went in to the office today around mid-morning and managed to make it to 4:30 before I completely ran out of steam. I'll probably do the same tomorrow -- go in, but for only whatever part of the day I can manage. I've really got too much work not to, and, as long as I don't push it, I think it's actually good for me to get up and do something. For now, though, I'm not moving from this couch unless the damn house is on fire!

All in all, though, today was definitely a step forward in the getting-better plan! Yay! And I think all this progress call for a HAPPY LIST! \o/

:: I think we are finally done with the million degree weather! Today was supposed to be the last triple digit day of the year. Nighties and eighties, here we come! I'm breaking out the sweaters now!

:: I won the auction for Cassidy Haley's "Nostalgia" CD, an exclusive one off CD of his unreleased material!!! I'm ridiculously excited about this! I cannot even tell you. I can't wait to hear what's on this thing! (Although we shall not speak about what I was willing to bid for this thing. I'm going to blame it on the residual effects of all the narcotics I've been on.)

:: I had THE best peach for lunch today. It was huge, and juicy, and DELICIOUS! Yum!

:: [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva rocks my world! First there was the lovely vase of cheerful flowers and get-well wishes that arrived on Saturday. So pretty! And then today I came home from work to find yummy smelly stuffs from her for my birthday! J, baby, that was perfect! I love that scent so much! THANK YOU!!! *mwah*

:: The day got about a million times better this evening when I was able to have a lovely and long over due phone chat with [livejournal.com profile] editorzon! Love you, baby, and I can't wait to see you soon!

:: Speaking of seeing awesome peoples soon, I think I'll be heading to L.A. for a weekend in October! Hookers, I understand there are some Halloween plans at Cicada Club in the works? Count me in! *beams*

*sighs happily* That's a good deal of happy-makin' for one day.

And, for some added miscellany, y'all remember those pictures of Adam Lambert in New Orleans, right? Well, a few more have cropped up. And Adam and his adorable boyfriend are still adorable. And amusing. Despite the unfortunate facial hair and questionable fashion choices. But the lesson I think we all should learn from these pictures has nothing to do with shaving practices, Just For Men hair dye, or shirts with sleeves. No, I think what we've all learned is that 98% of [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai members need to step away from the computer and TAKE A DAMN VACATION TO NEW ORLEANS!!! I was appalled at how many people had no idea what Adam meant when he twittered about the Big Easy! Or who couldn't recognize Pat O'Brien's by the drinks on the table or who had no idea what a hand grenade was!!! Seriously, people, y'all need to get out more! *laughs*

Ok, I'm going back to slothful recovery now. Hope y'all are having a good week!

August

Aug. 3rd, 2009 01:35 pm
Well, hey, hello there, August! Geez. Where the hell did July go? No, matter. August is a fabulous month. Mostly because it's my birthday month, so I feel perfectly justified in a month full of excesses and indulgences!

Even though we're only 3 days in, August is already shaping up to be made of so much awesome! This is what the month looks like for me at the moment:

- This weekend: a much needed pedicure and (also much needed) time to catch up on the million or so errands that are plaguing my to do list.

- On the 14th I head to L.A. for a weekend of awesome birthday shenanigans, including late night birthday dinners, undisclosed birthday surprises of the pampering variety, ogling of Philip Anselmo's Arms of Porn with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish at the Down show on Saturday, and a Glitter & Whips (TM) brunch at the Abbey on Sunday where [livejournal.com profile] aproposofnothin, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva, [livejournal.com profile] editorzon and I will wax rhapsodic about the shininess of Adam Lambert and the glee induced by magical musical boys, and generally make [livejournal.com profile] azewewish roll her eyes at us as many times as possible. *g* Good times!!!

- After that I'll be meeting up with my family for a few days of vacation time at Disneyland and San Diego. Mikey Mouse! Beach time! Exciting!!!

- Sometime during the following week I'll get [livejournal.com profile] annkiri here for a visit! And then [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah will be joining us during the weekend for more birthday shenanigans! Awesome times with awesome friends!

- The following weekend [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ and I are embarking on Operation Glitter, with a mad dash to Kansas City to catch the American Idols Live show on August 30th!!! *flails wildly* We have AMAZING seats for the show, and *knock on wood* there is perhaps, maybe, oh, please, let the stars align and the Universe smile upon us to make this happen the possibility of finagling backstage meet and greet passes. Eeeee!!! Either way, I am so ridiculously excited about seeing Adam perform again! You don't even know! It's going to be an awesomely good time with the most wonderful of co-conspirators! *bounces*

And while technically that brings us to the end of August, the Good Times just keep coming!

- Labor Day weekend I'm taking an extra day off of work and heading back to L.A. to see NIN with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish at the Henry Fonda Theater! Trent! Small venue! Longer set! *flail*

Eeee! So much AWESOME planned this month! Plus, you know, MY BIRTHDAY!!! Which is inherently awesome. As am I. *g*

So, now that I've gushed about all the awesomeness happening in my world, tell me something awesome happening in yours!
So, someone (*cough*[livejournal.com profile] azewewish*cough*) wanted me to post about something other than Adam Lambert. Seriously. What is wrong with some people? *shakes head*

Apparently, "LIFE IS GOOD," lacked sufficient details to be considered a substantive post. I thought it was both accurate and succinct. But, whatever. Here, for my friends who are less entranced by the shiny boy than I am, are some of the accompanying details:

:: Work is still going really, really well. Three months in and I'm still firmly convinced that this was the right move for me. Bossman is giving me a ton of responsibility and, based on what he's said, is really wanting me to take a prominent role in the growth and sustainability of the practice. We've just launched a new marketing campaign featuring yours truly and the other senior attorney in the office. What's really cool is that we're the only firm in the Valley who features female attorneys in our marketing. I'm really proud of this.

:: A huge factor in the LIFE IS GOOD situation is that I can definitively say that right now I have the best work/life balance that I've ever had since I started practicing law. I cannot begin to tell you how AWESOME that is! Definitely a big part of what I was going for when I chose "harmony" as my word for this year.

:: The Trainer is still regularly kicking my ass, and I sort of love it. The boxing is SO cathartic, and, now that I think about it, probably a factor in the great sense of balance I'm enjoying right now. I'm still looking to add in some dance or some regularity with Nia into my routine, but, one step at a time, you know? Also on the health and wellness front, I decided I needed a little more mindfulness in my nutritional choices, so I rejoined Weight Watchers -- two weeks and 4 pounds down! Go me!

:: The summer is at the miserably hot stage around here (I am SO over 115 degree days), but at least it's moving quickly. July is almost over. Geesh! When did that happen??? August is going to be a whirlwind. I'm heading to L.A. mid-August for a birthday weekend with my L.A. girls and then some vacay time with my family in San Diego. The following weekend [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah will be here for some birthday celebrations. And then the weekend after that...well, let's just say that there are some glittery shenanigans afoot and I'm ridiculously excited about it! *g* Labor Day weekend (technically September, but it feels like part of the whirlwind), I'm heading back to L.A. to catch NIN in concert. Eeee!!! So many Good Times ahead! In between all that, I've got a birthday, a trial to prepare for, several family things planned, and, you know, LIFE to attend to. Whew. That's a crazy month coming up!

:: Since this is the extended Life is Good post, we shall not speak of The Boy, who flaked like a bad case of dandruff. Whatever, man. You gotta bring a helluva lot more than he seemed to have in order to keep my interest. Moving on. Life IS good, after all. *g*

:: We're also not going to speak of the RAGE that I feel over the D'backs' Faux Manager's decision to start Miguel Montero instead of Chris Snyder behind the plate. What the ever loving fuck??? Sure, Miguel's had a hot streak at bat, but, call me crazy, but isn't it kind of important for your catcher to be able to make the throw to second? Or call a smart game so that your depleted pitching staff doesn't run up its pitch count in less than six innings? Or, you know, have ANY defensive value at all? Argh! I, just...RAGE!!!!!

*deep breaths* Life is good, life is good, life is good.... Ok. That's better.

So, now that y'all got some of the deets, I wanna know what's good in your life too! Share with me, bbs!

Also, I'd like to point out that there is no mention of one Glittery Alien from the Planet Fierce in this post. You happy now, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish? :P
Today was a ridiculously long day. Seriously, meetings that are going to last 4 1/2 hours should come with a warning so that I can pack snacks (and extra coffee, lots of coffee!). I'm wiped. So this will be short. Short lists! Because lists make me feel better. :)

The suck:
- meetings that last 4 1/2 hours
- the headache that resulted from a tragic lack of caffeine during said meeting
- the unfortunate state of my "to do" list after a day spent mostly in meetings
- my bb, Chris Snyder placed on the DL *sadface*

The awesome:
- still really diggin' my job
- gorgeous rainbow arching across the sky on my drive home
- conversations with good friends
- making plans with [livejournal.com profile] azewewish to see Down in L.A. in August...Philip!!!!!!!!!!
- Spa Day this weekend -- I cannot even adequately explain how desperate I am for a pedicure.
- looking forward to a weekend in Ojai celebrating J's fabulousness
- this! )
Today this happened:

Photobucket

*bites lip* Dear gods, he's the very picture of debauched sexiness.

And then my flist exploded with delicious, glittery tidbits from Adam's Rolling Stone interview.

Like this on his female fans:
"I loved it this season when girls went crazy for me. As far as I'm concerned, it's all hot. Just because I'm not sticking it in there doesn't mean that I don't find it beautiful."

*laughs and laughs*

And this on Kris:
"I was like, 'Oh, s--t, they put me with the cute guy.' Distracting! He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type – except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, baby, distracting indeed! *g* But this is why we have fanfiction!

And this on those lovely, glittery, boy-kissin' pictures:
"I've only dressed in drag three or four times – and of course I took pictures, because I looked amazing – but I don't tuck and I don't wear breasts, that's not me. Sucking my boy's face? Yes, that I will own."

Of course, you look amazing! And we fully support you sucking your boy's face...and taking really hot pictures said activity!

(Oh, yeah, and he's gay. *g*)

Seriously, just when I think he's reached the apex of fabulousness, he surpasses all previous values of AWESOME!

So, in other Adam-related glittery bits:

:: We Get To Carry Each Other is a weblog that perfectly captures the loveliness of Kris' and Adam's friendship.

:: Also, fic recs! *beams*

Both of these are awesome and well worth the read!

And in non-Adam-related glittery bits:

:: I'm finally getting my hair done tomorrow. This is, no exaggeration, about two months over due! I've been hating my hair for weeks now and I can't wait until it's shiny and bouncy and PURTY again!

:: Baseball this Friday!!! I've managed to convince several co-workers that a trip to the ballpark is absolutely essential this week. Go me! \o/

:: I booked my flight to L.A. for the 4th of July weekend today. Yay! I'm very excited about seeing everyone and having a great time in Ojai!

Hm. I think that's all that glitters in my world today. What's sparkly in yours?
This is a pleasant Monday morning, despite the fact that there is seemingly not enough caffeine in the world to make me feel fully awake. I've had twice my normal caffeine intake and I still feel as if my brain is wrapped in a fog. Weekend road trips wreck havoc on my ability to function come Monday.

Despite the OMGSOSLEEPY-ness of this morning, the day is a good one and the weekend was fun. Got to spend some time with the extended Familia, and it was for the most part blessedly drama-free. Also got to spend some time with [livejournal.com profile] hewet_ka_ptah and that was fabulous. There was lots of yummy good food, and lazy-times in the pool, and silliness with The Awesome Nieces, and it was good.

This week is already crazy-busy, but I'm still enjoying the Awesome New Job enough that I don't even mind the craziness! I'm sure that'll pass soon enough, but for now I don't even have work-related bitchiness to report. *beams*

I also just picked up tickets for me and [livejournal.com profile] azewewish for the D'backs/Braves series later this month, so the plan for an awesome baseball weekend in the near future is making me happier than normal for a Monday morning!

I'm debating whether or not to go to Texas for Memorial Day weekend. On the one hand, I've already got my plane ticket. On the other hand...well, "the other hand" is an annoyance that I'd rather not stain this otherwise pleasant Monday with...but I just don't know what to do! *ponders*

I'm also not going to sully this good day with my thoughts on new D'backs manager Hinch's announcement that Chris Snyder and Miguel Montero are going to be splitting catching duties. I'm sure y'all can guess what I think of this, right?

Moving on. It's a good Monday, people! I'm going to go grab something for lunch and then be a busy bee this afternoon! How 'bout y'all? What's your Monday looking like?
Seriously. How is it April already??? How is it even possible that 2009 is 1/4 of the way over??? That right there is the biggest April's Fools joke of all. *shakes head*

But, the AWESOME part of it being April is that baseball is right around the corner!!! *bounces* I am SO ridiculously excited about Opening Day!!!

In preemptive celebration of the start of the season, I'm going to try to find some time to do another Hot Men of MLB picspam this week. I totally had good intentions about doing them throughout Spring Training, but somehow the entire month of March (and, really, the first quarter of 2009) completely got away from me.

Speaking of various craziness, I am not going to comment further on all the Danneel related insanity in Supernatural fandom, other than to say that if you found yourself cut from my flist in the past 48 hours, you might want to reacquaint yourself with reality where we usually try to practice common courtesy and a basic level of common sense. Jeezus, fandom, way to bring the crazy. *shakes head*

On to happier things, shall we? Tonight I'm going to see Rianna in her first school play. Her stage debut is as an elephant, trunk and ears and all. *laughs* Never fear. There will be plenty of future blackmail pictures to share!

And, speaking of foolishness, even though I'm in the middle of a job search during what is the worst economic climate of recent memory, and I just got back from a week-long vacation, and it's still months away, I am already planning what is now the annual trek to New Orleans in October! N'awlins shenanigans are already in the works!!! *glee* Who wants to join me? *tempts*

Ticketed

Mar. 8th, 2009 02:39 pm
In a fit of optimism over the job situation, I have gone ahead and purchased my tickets for the Diamondbacks' Home Opener on April 6th (BASEBALL!!! *grabby hands*) and my four-day pass for ComicCon in July (geekfest with my girls!!!). Eeee!!! I can't wait for both of these things to happen!!!

Now all I need is for the job situation to resolve itself sooner rather than later. *crosses fingers*
Sadly, I have nothing appropriately scary or creepy to accompany today's date. Unless you include work which is still looming in scary proportions, but while my clients are criminals, only a few of them are truly creepy. So that kinda fails for a Friday the 13th tie in as well.

But it IS the reason I've been MIA this week. *grumblebitchcomplain* Of the good, though, is that in an effort to save on gas, I've been driving into the office less and instead working from home. Which has the added benefit of allowing me to watch my Diamondbacks' afternoon games!

Speaking of baseball, I'll be heading to the ball park this evening to watch the D-Backs take on the Royals for some inter-league play. I'm really looking forward to it because it's been just too long since I've had me some BASEBALL!

Also of note on this weekend's agenda: I've got tickets to see a local production of Reefer Madness tomorrow. I'm mostly going because Trainer!Boy has the lead and if I don't he'll probably make me do a bazillion squats next week. It's a self preservation thing. Although it has been getting good press and might actually be funny and entertaining. We shall see.

I've also been making my travel plans for the rest of June and July. By some brilliant feat of planning, or the exact opposite of that, I am traveling to either L.A. or San Diego or both EVERY OTHER WEEK between the end of June and the middle of July! *facepalm* In between all that traveling? I'm doing two trials and preparing for a three week trial staring in August. Yeah. July should be very interesting.

Also interesting? The news that Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Alex Kozinski shares porn online. *laughs and laughs* When I clerked for the 9th Circuit, I thought Judge Kozinski was a complete ass. Brilliant, sure. But still an asshole. The news that he kept porn on his website though? Kinda makes me like the asshole.

Lastly, shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] drvsilla: Foto Friday!!! )

Hope y'all are having a non-scary, non-creepy and completely FANTASTIC Friday the 13th!
