may ends

May. 31st, 2010 11:03 pm
After feeling like road kill for a good part of last week and most of the holiday weekend, today I woke up feeling human again! Yay! My throat is still feeling a little raw and this annoying cough is still, well, annoying, but other than that I feel good! I literally spent most of Friday and all of Saturday and Sunday sleeping, which was apparently exactly what I needed.

Today I did some shopping, then we went to my aunt's house for a barbecue, some pool time and some yummy watermelon!!! Watermelon means it's officially summer! :)

Other than marathon nappage, my only other accomplishments for the weekend were catching up on Friday Night Lights, watching the Drop Dead Diva marathon yesterday, and reading a good part of the new Nightrunner book. So despite the feeling like crap part, I'm calling it a damn good weekend! *g*

So, all this time doing next to nothing meant I had a lot of time to think of crazy shenanigans I needed to be getting up to once I was back to well. Y'all realize that this is NOT going to end well, right? *g* Anyway, I think I might see about going to Adam's Louisville concert on July 10th. It's on a Saturday. The Saturday after I get done with my July trial, so I will definitely be needing the break. Plus I have friends in Louisville that I haven't seen in way too long. So, um, yeah, anyone feel like a weekend trip to Louisville??? *bats eyelashes*

Speaking of soliciting partners in crime glitter, J won't be able to make the Denver concert after all, so we have a ticket to sell and, while I'll go either way, a traveling buddy would be nice. Anyone interested in a weekend jaunt to Denver in July? *beams*

Also, this may not be amusing to anyone other than me, but I just caught my brother singing "Whataya Want From Me"!!! *laughs and laughs*

So, how did everyone enjoy their long weekend? I'm hoping y'all managed to do exactly what you needed to this weekend, even if it WAS sleeping for three days straight! *mwah*
Awesome things from this weekend, in list form! Because lists make me happy!

- Great workout with the trainer on Saturday!

- Spring cleaned the hell outa my room! (Shush! I know it's nearly summer! It still totally counts!)

- Got tickets for me and my mom to go to Adam's San Francisco show in July!

- Hair cut!!! Shiny and bouncy hair!

- Pedicure on my toes toes! Sparkly toes FTW!

- Shopping spree! Spiffy new suit and other assorted work clothes! AND! Pants that are two sizes smaller than the last time I went shopping! Go me! \o/

- Discovered that I will get to see Kris Allen live this summer after all, as his Tucson show is JUNE 23rd instead of July 23rd! Pocket Idol!!! (Also, [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck has an extra ticket if anyone wants to join us!)

- Totally random but lovely chat with the Texas boy.

- Delicious homemade fruit smoothies!

- Finished reading Josh Lanyon's Strange Fortune and I loved it!!!
Hello, Thursday! Damn, you got here quickly. I'm still trying to dig my way out of the chaos that 2 sick days created on my desk.

But I'm distracting myself with the pretty boys from Glee. Yesterday it was Matt Morrison's ridiculously lickable abs and today it's Mark Salling delicious ARMS!!! *bites lip*

Photobucket

And, I'm also greatly amused by his gooftastic facial expressions. *g* )

These are apparently from Mark's recent GQ photo shoot. Dear media, please keep taking lovely pictures of the pretty Glee boys!

Speaking of happy-making t.v. shows, season two of Drop Dead Diva premiers on June 6th! This show is DELIGHTFUL and I can't wait to have it back on my t.v.

OMG, and about those t.v. shows that are back on my t.v., FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS IS AIRING ON NBC!!! I did not KNOW this until last Friday when it suddenly showed up on my DVR. How did I not know this??? Y'all have been slacking on your flist duties by not bringing this very important news to my attention! *glares* Apparently it started running the week before that, but since the space on my DVR was full, I didn't realize I had missed the first episode until I was half way through the second and COMPLETELY LOST! *laughs* But I caught got caught up, and oh my ra, I LOVE THIS SHOW! I can't wait to get to know the new characters, and Coach Taylor continues to be one of the hottest men on the planet and his wife is one hell of a fierce and sexy bitch! *loves and loves*

Ok, and while many most of you don't care, I'm still gonna flail a bit about Adam's upcoming tour. We finally have dates for his L.A. and San Diego shows. He's playing in L.A. on July 25th and San Diego on the 30th. Which means I'll now be flying from San Francisco (where my mom and I will be catching his show on Friday the 23rd and then sticking around the city on Saturday to do fun touristy things!) to L.A. on Sunday for his show that night and then flying home on Monday morning. It also means that I'll be missing Kris Allen's show here in Phoenix on the 25th. Sorry, Pocket Idol! I really DO want to see you play live some day, but, as everyone knows, Adam is a toppy bastard and a girl's gotta have her priorities. *g*

Sooooo, this is what that last week in July is looking like: my mom and I will fly to San Francisco on Friday afternoon for the show that night and we'll kick it in the city on Saturday, on Sunday I'll fly to L.A. for that show; I'll then be flying home Monday morning and going straight to the office; then I'm flying back to California on Tuesday afternoon for the two OC Fair shows, flying back home on Thursday morning; and then again (probably, as I haven't yet worked out these details) flying out to San Diego on Friday afternoon for that show, and then flying home on Saturday morning to be here for the Lady Gaga show that night! *tries to breathe* OMG this is insane! *laughs* But I can't wait!
Let's talk about ME! *beams*

First, work has been kickin' my butt, but despite the months of 10-12 hour days, I'm still feeling fairly positive about it. Yeah, I don't even know. But I'm having FUN doing my job again and that's pretty awesome.

Second, in case y'all didn't know this, I ROCK! *g* That's true for a lot of reasons, but at the moment I'm referring to me rockin' the Take Better Care of Me Plan that is still going fantastically, if imperfectly, well. Not only have I been eating mindfully and journaling all my food for over 2 1/2 months, but I've also managed to lose 27 pounds. I could definitely be more consistent with the exercise portion of the Take Better Care of Me Plan, but I'm working on it and, more importantly, I'm not beating myself up over the imperfections. So, um, GO ME!!! \o/

Third, I've been making some summer travel plans and other plans for Fun Things To Do this summer, and I'm super excited for what's ahead!

Summer Fun )

And, here are some other fabulously sparkly tidbits for our Friday:

>> Russell Crowe and his Merry Men singing Beautiful Girls:

This brightened my whole day yesterday! And, to make it even more fantastic, according to his Twitter, they repeated this performance on the Spanish Steps in Rome later that day! *loves and loves* Can we get those damn TOFOG dates now!

>> Photos from the set of Adam Lambert's music video shoot for If I Had You where he invited all of his magical friends to take part in the all night party a la Burning Man video. Cheeks! Cassidy! Alisan! Rahab! And practically all the Zodiac cast! Eeee!!! So many fabulous people! I cannot wait to see this video!

>> Meet Adam and do good! Charity auction of an Adam Lambert concert and meet & greet to benefit City of Hope. I'm SO tempted!
I need to sleep for about a week. How do I make this happen??? Ugh. I'm so freakin' tired! I've been putting in incredibly long days in the office, I'm making due on about 4-5 hours of sleep a night, I'm fighting off some kind of crud, and I just want to SLEEP! *cries* My soul for a damn nap!

In less whiny news, [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva and I scored tickets for Adam Lambert's second Costa Mesa show!!! Two back-to-back Adam concerts! Double the Adam, double the FABULOUSNESS!!! This, as you might imagine, is very exciting for me! We're also seriously considering hitting the show in Denver on July 17th. Don't judge me!!! :) Anyway, I'm thinking I might as well make a weekend of it in Denver. Who's there? What should I do? Talk to me about Denver, flist! I'm still hoping for more shows in the Southwest or West Coast -- L.A., San Diego, Vegas, PHOENIX!!! *hopes* But for now the only other workable date is Denver.

I feel as if I'm just generally behind on life. I haven't watched this week's Glee yet, and there are about a half-dozen Legend of the Seeker episodes on my DVR. It feels as if I've been crawling home after 12 or 13 hours at work, finding something that will serve as dinner, and then crawling into bed to start it all over. Did I mention that I was freakin' TIRED??? Anyway, the one thing I have been doing is reading the Josh Lanyon's Adrien English LGBT mystery series, and I'm thoroughly enjoying them. I'm generally not a fan of first person narration, because I think few do it well; but Josh Lanyon's Adrien does it well. The narration is tight and witty and insightful. The mystery themselves are not particularly creative, but the narration and characters have made these books thoroughly delightful thus far. I just started the third book, The Hell You Say, and if I can't spend my afternoon taking a loooong nap, I'd really rather be home reading than at this damn desk for another 12 hours stint. Anyway. Has anyone else read them? What do you think? Let's discuss! *beams*

So, unless my Boss suddenly institutes a mandatory afternoon nap time or my flist distracts entertains me with talk about Denver or the Adrien English books, I'm going to have to get back to work now.
Man, it's gorgeous outside. I wish I could drag my stacks of files outside to enjoy the sunshine. I should take advantage of the beautiful weather while it lasts, because it won't be long now before I'm complaining about Arizona's hellish summer heat. Sadly I'm stuck in my office looking at the lovely day happening outside my window.

But even though I can't play in it, the sunshiney awesomeness happening outside has me in a great mood! Or maybe that's the coffee I had this morning in an otherwise coffee-less couple of weeks? In any event, I AM HAPPY! And, because I'm awesome like that, I'm gonna share my happy mood with y'all. *beams*

Happy Thing The First: Strawberries! Yummy ripe strawberries! I've got a whole little basket full of them to munch on throughout the day and they taste like the sunshine outside my window. Delish!

Happy Thing The Second: Shoes! Shiny new shoes! I just got these and I love them! I also got two other pairs for work that are quite lovely. But, OMG, I love that first pair so much!

Happy Thing The Third: Baseball! Well, specifically, Chris Snyder!!! I'm not talking to my D'backs until they crawl their way back over .500, but my bb Chris is another story. He's smokin' hot with his bat right now (3-run HR yesterday!) and I'm so incredibly proud of him. And, seriously, if they start talking about trading him again, I will NOT be responsible for my actions. But we're talking happy, so, CHRIS!!! *loves*

Happy Thing The Fourth: Awesome music happenings! While I'm still more than a little frustrated that they haven't announced Adam's full tour schedule, tickets for his second OC show go on pre-sale tomorrow. And more Adam is always a good thing! Also, in case anyone missed the memo, Adam is cute. Just ask Rhyan who crawled next to me last night and demanded to watch Adam videos and then informed me that "A-lam is cute!" *g* Even though she's just two, she certainly knows her cute.

A-lam IS cute! )

Yup, definitely cute. Or, you know, FUCKING GORGEOUS! But if the two year old comes out with "A-lam is fucking gorgeous!" her parents may not be happy with me. So, we'll just stick with "A-lam is cute." *g*

Speaking of the pretty, dear gods, Adam's bassist Tommy is ridiculously pretty! )

The happy-making musical happenings continue: I also scored tickets to see Kris Allen when he opens for Barenaked Ladies here in July! Pocket Idol!!! I'm kind of ridiculously excited about finally getting to see him perform live!

And since they added a second Glee Live show, I was able to get tickets for me and my mom as her Mothers' Day present. GLEE!!! So very happy-making!

And more! [livejournal.com profile] without_me was able to score tickets for us to see The Wall in November! Yay!

*breathes* OMG so much awesome music in my future!!!

And if all that wasn't enough musical awesomeness, today Trent Reznor announced the release of a new song with his new band How To Destroy Angels and it's hauntingly beautiful! I didn't even realize he was making new music, but apparently he is, and it's amazing!

ETA: More How To Destroy Angels! )

Happy Thing The Fifth: ME!!! *beams* I'm gonna brag on myself for a moment. Because I can. *g* And also because these are definitely part of the happy. First, my online food journal informed me today that I've logged on for 65 days in a row. That means that for the past 65 days I've been eating mindfully. For the past 65 days I've made conscious, deliberate decisions about what to feed my body; for the most part those have been healthy choices, but even when they haven't been, I've been aware of them and accountable for them. That right there is success! Second, I don't think I've mentioned this here, but last Friday I had my one year review. Holy cow, it's been a year! But, more importantly, it's been a damn good year! My review was positively glowing and came with a very nice raise and plans for long-term success and reward here. Job satisfaction is definitely happy-making!
 Horchata + Coffee = DELICIOUSNESS OVER ICE!!! This is possibly the most fabulous drink combo not involving tequila! So good!!! *slurps*

 MOAR ADAM!!! The official press release on Adam's Glam Nation tour today included a second show in Orange County in July! I'm still hoping that we'll see more dates on the West Coast and maybe even in Phoenix, but until then I'm all for a second OC show!

 I have my plane ticket for L.A. weekend after next!!! I get to see my girls!!! And Creepshow!!! Man, it's been ages (or you know, since February *g*) that I've been in L.A. This trip is essential to my continued state of happiness!!! :)

 Um, my Twitter feed is currently singing "Arthur's Theme." *laughs* Nothing like a little virtual Christopher Cross to brighten you afternoon! You know it's crazy, but it's true! *g*

 Daughtry!!! Tomorrow night!
After four days the caffeine withdrawal headache seems to finally be losing steam. I'm going ahead and claiming my victory now! \0/ (This does mean I can have coffee on Saturday morning, right? *g*)

The (awesomely caffeinated) weekend is just around the corner. I've got tickets to Sunday's D'backs game. This will be my first game of the season and on one hand I'm SO excited about getting back to the ball park and seeing my boys and BASEBALL!!!! On the other, dear gods, my D'backs are just a hot mess right now. Well, that's not entirely fair, they aren't all falling apart. The offense is clicking a hell of a lot better this season and they've done an amazing job battling back from early deficits. Now, if only the bullpen can figure out how NOT to blow a freakin' lead in the 9th, that would be just awesome. So frustrating! Dear Mr. Closer, giving up the lead with 5 runs in the 9th is NOT IN YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION!!!

*deep breath* Ok. So, how 'bout we talk about things that don't make me want to tear out my hair in frustration? Like the fact that I scored a ticket to Adam's show in Orange County in July!!!!!! We will NOT discuss how much I had to pay for said ticket. Nor will we discuss my insane willingness to fly to California for a mid-week concert and then have to fly right back the next day because that's also the same weekend that I have Lady Gaga tickets! *laughs* But, just imagine the sheer amount of GLITTERY FABULOUSNESS that week is going to involve with Adam on Wednesday and Lady Gaga on Saturday!!!! Is it possible to OD on glittery fabulousness? Oh, well. I'm willing to risk it! *g*

I have approximately 40 dozen fics to rec, but I think I'll do that in a separate post.

I also haven't seen the Madonna Glee episode yet, so I have to delay my flail over that until this weekend. I haven't checked, but I'm assuming my DVR cut off the last scene too, so I'm waiting until it re-airs on Friday to see it.

I feel like eating watermelon. Someone please carry the watermelon! *g*

retrograde

Apr. 19th, 2010 01:22 pm
Mercury went retrograde yesterday, which, technically speaking means: oh shit, hold on tight, it's gonna be a riiiide. So, you know, fun times ahead! *g*

On the plus side, though, there has been a plethora of awesomeness announced in the past couple of days!

For example, Russell Crowe is stranded in L.A. and decided to pass the time by joining Twitter! I find this highly amusing. Even more so imagining [livejournal.com profile] azewewish rolling her eyes in general Twitter-related annoyance. *laughs* But the BEST part about Russell's recent dive into the Twitter world was his announcement this weekend that TOFOG is (a) releasing a new album around August!!!! and (b) touring the U.S. this summer!!!! *flails* It looks as if the plan is to do a 10 year anniversary show at Stubb's in Austin in August, and from there hit various cities! Chicago, Portland, San Fransisco, and L.A. were specifically named! I am so all over Austin, and L.A., and maybe even Portland and/or San Fransisco!!! Eeeeee!!! TOFOG!!! Live! Sooooon!!!! I cannot wait!!!

And while I was still amidst my flail over TOFOG, [livejournal.com profile] azewewish texted me with the news that MUSE has finally decided to do an L.A. show!!! They have, in fact, 3 So-Cal shows in September. San Diego and Anaheim are mid-week, so I'm not sure I can make those. But I am definitely on board for the L.A. show!!! They were spectacular and I am thrilled to be able to catch them again on this tour! Exciting!!!

There are also plans in the works for catching Roger Waters' The Wall 2010 show in L.A. with [livejournal.com profile] without_me in late November!!! *flails more*

And, and, AND!!!! Adam Lambert finally announced some summer tour dates!!!! Unfortunately there is so far only one date on the west coast. It looks as if I'll be at the OC Fair in late July! I'm hoping that there will be more dates/cities posted soon. *crosses fingers* Otherwise, anyone wanna go to Atlantic City with me??? (I so wish I were kidding about that!)

Ahhh!!! So much amazingness!!!
A List O' Things that are Making Me Particularly Happy this Friday:

[1] Taxes!!! Yeah, I know. Not what you would normally expect to find on a Happy List. But, despite epic degrees of procrastination, I did manage to get my taxes filed before midnight last night. Filed with an hour and 47 minutes to spare, thankyouverymuch! My procrastination skills are finely honed, I tell you! *g* But, even more happy-making than the general yay-they're-done-and-on-time happiness is the fact that not only do I not owe Uncle Sam money this year, I'll actually be getting some of it back! Unexpected play money FTW!!!

[2] Glam Nation Tour!!! Even though we don't have dates yet, we do know what Adam Lambert's summer tour is going to be called. Glam is back motherfuckers!!! And today he announced that Allison Iraheta and Orianthi are going to open for him!!!! So. Much. FABULOUSNESS!!! I don't know much about Orianthi other than she plays a wicked guitar, but ALLISON!!! She's so freakin' talented and I'm crazy excited that she and Adam are going to be touring together! Eeee!!! Dear Adam: You are fabulous and I love you. But please to be giving us tour dates now as I need to PLAN MY LIFE around your tour. Also, that unexpected play money is going to come in damn handy as I expect that even though the recession didn't bankrupt me, Adam's tour just might. Debters' prison will be totally worth it though! *beams*

[3] Puppy!!! I came home from work the other day to find that we had a new member of the household:

Photobucket

This is Jax. He's made of CUTE! Technically he's The Nieces puppy, but since Nieces and Puppy are living in my house, I'm claiming him. *g*
