The weekend was made of awesome! [livejournal.com profile] azewewish and [livejournal.com profile] _lisalisa_ were both in town for a weekend of spring training baseball. [livejournal.com profile] technosage joined us and we saw the Diamondbacks play the Cubs on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday we trekked out to Peoria to watch the Padres and the White Sox. The weather sunny and warm and perfect for baseball. The hotdogs were great as only hotdogs at a ballgame are. The beer was cold. The company was, of course, stellar!

After Saturday's game we came back to my house where some of my family joined us for Carne Asada and Margaritas (TM). The food was yummy and plentiful. Brenda's margaritas were also yummy and plentiful! The company was again stellar! We sat outside drinking and talking and having a great time until well into the night.

On Sunday we headed to The Farm at South Mountain for brunch before the game. I've got to remember how much I like this place. The food was great. Also, I'm firmly convinced that all Sundays should start with lots of coffee and really good Bloody Marys. *nods*

Between baseball, eating and drinking, all of which we did a lot of this weekend, we watched a good portion of season one of Brotherhood. Which, for the record, if you're not watching...well, why the hell aren't you watching??? This is really fucking good television. Seriously, the best acted, most complexly written, angst-filled brother relationship on t.v., no question. The show is full of fucked up, issue-ridden, layered and interesting characters. Like I said, good t.v. I was completely hooked after two episodes; I think we managed to get Lisa hooked on it too. I finished watching season one today and now I can't wait for the second season to come out on DVD. *is impatient*

So, yeah. Awesome weekend filled with baseball and good food and good t.v. and, best of all, really good friends. *smishes y'all* Anytime, chicas, mi casa es su casa, (despite what the sign on my wall says *g*).

Today, unfortunately, was slightly less than awesome... )
Ugh. I feel like so much crap. I do, though, have no work that needs to be done today, new pajamas, lots of OJ, and tons of movies to watch. So there shall be much laying about today.

Christmas around these parts was nice and low-key. Many cookies, tamales and bowls of posole were consumed. OMG. We ate All. Day. Long.

Gifts were opened. Rianna was less than impressed by the clothes -- even the adorable red pea coat that I wish came in adult sizes! -- but she was thrilled that Santa brought her a Nintendo DS even though it wasn't on her list, because Santa is just that cool and knew that was exactly what she wanted! I was thrilled to get the Harry Potter gift set, the second season of Weeds, several other movies, a lovely suede jacket, books, yummy smelling Japanese Cherry Blossom stuffs from Bath and Body, wine, a pretty and sparkly anklet, and a super-cool Larry Fitzgerald jersey!

Between eating and opening presents and visiting with family and friends, the rest of the day was filled with relaxing and movie watching. All around, a pleasantly uneventful holiday, which, with my family, is really something special.

Today, however, the cold that's been a mild annoyance for the past two days has kicked into overdrive. I think there's some orange juice and Nyquil with my name on it. *goes in search of drugs*

Ugh.

I feel like shit. Sore throat. Cough. Chills. Chest tight and on fire. Basically, a whole lot of Not Good.

And while I've loved being self-employed, with the freedom to come and go as I please, I'm starting to see a very significant downside. Apparently I haven't given myself any sick days. Neither have I hired anyone else to do my work when I feel miserable.

This week has officially taken a turn for the worse.
