I do! Because I do Nia as my primary form of exercise.
It's a fusion of 3 different kinds of dance styles -- modern, jazz, and Duncan, 3 different kinds of martial arts - Aikido, Tai Chi, and Tae Kwon Do, and 3 different healing arts -- yoga, Feldenkreis, and the Alexander Technique. What that translates to is an hour of choreographed dance with a particular focus or intention that fuses movements from or inspired by the various styles above. It's very expressive and totally adaptable to your own fitness level, strengths, and limitations.
And it's done barefoot. And it's so much fun. And it's a killer workout, but in the way that usually you don't feel like you had your butt kicked when you leave, but over time you just start to notice things like muscle definition everywhere and improved strength.
My studio is here: www.niamoves.com. I will be there Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for Helen's morning classes. w00t!
