thinky thoughts
Jun. 16th, 2010 10:27 pmThere have been a couple of truly intelligent and well articulated meta posts recently that I'd love if y'all read. They're about Adam. Yes, you read that right, glam meta. *g*
I realize that for the past year I've probably talked more about Adam in this journal than I have pretty much anything else. Including baseball. And that's just nuts. But it's probably not changing any time soon. And it's not because he's gorgeous or because he has an amazing voice. Well it IS this things, but it isn't JUST those things. The reason my fascination with Adam is unlikely to wane any time soon is because of this:
His sexual energy celebrates itself: it's nothing more and nothing less, it does not promote any particular sexuality or aesthetic or what-have-you. It just IS, in the most free-love, flower power, liberated/liberating, sensual, INNOCENT (yes, that's the perfect word for it) way possible. There is no baggage attached, nothing to apologize for, nothing to hide or be embarrassed about.....
But what's most appealing about him are not the things for which he can be objectified, as is the case with most pop stars - body parts, dance moves, provocative lyrics, you name it. Instead, it's this sense of free and open sexual expression, an acceptance and celebration of DESIRE IN GENERAL, which he sort of effortlessly promotes with his performances. This approach to sexuality is exciting and a turn-on and, above all, PURE FUN - which is pretty subversive in our culture.
That's only some of what
no_detective had to say about a brave new world, with such glam men in it. And to everything she said there, I could only respond with a resounding YES THAT EXACTLY! Adam is, quite literally, my Perfect Pagan(y) Pop Star. All of the things about sexuality, and sensuality, and desire that I hold true because of my spirituality, are all very much at the core of Adam's music and his performances. I don't know if the WHY is the same, but it doesn't matter. It's this essence of Adam's music that resonates in a big way with me.
no_detective did an amazing job of articulating all these things I've been thinking, but had been unable to coalesce into words. So, if you care to understand why I ramble on incessantly about one Adam Lambert in this journal, go read this.
And then, as if my brain!kink hadn't been tweaked enough,
mistresscurvy went and got me all hot and bothered by being all smart and articulate about Adam and his neo-hippie all we need is LOVE ethos.
I love that my glitter and glam fandom has been so smart and articulate and THINKY lately! <3 <3 <3
