A musical rainbow.
Jul. 2nd, 2008 08:34 amLast night, my mom, my aunt Helen and I went to see Alison Krauss and Robert Plant at the Dodge Theater, and WOW, was that ever an eclectic mix of music. It was FASCINATING. We heard everything from "Black Dog" (Zeppelin a'la bluegrass with a fiddles in place of the electric guitar riffs) and "The Battle of Evermore" (absolutely stunning duet featuring a great banjo riff) and a gorgeous stripped down version of "Black Country Woman" to a beautiful a capella version of "Down to the River to Pray" with Robert Plant and two band mates forming a three part harmony gospel choir behind Alison, from "Fortune Teller" to Ray Charles' "Leave My Woman Alone." It was a two hour tour through America's music, with incredible musicians (the band was fantastic!), Alison's ethereal voice, and Robert Plant's rockin' style. Like I said, it was absolutely fascinating!
