Johnny Weir: One of the best things I saw last week was George Lopez's interview with Johnny. I am highly amused and completely charmed by the way George is such a total fanboy! Attention Latino men: please pay attention. This is the way we do tolerance and acceptance. Anyway, other than host squeeing over Johnny, the greatest thing about that interview was George helping Johnny to live out his dream of RIDING A YAK!!! Yes, you read right. A yak. Fabulous!

Serendipity: This morning my sister in law and I were talking about body image and how she goes about teaching Rianna good nutritional habits without making her feel bad or self-conscious about her body. Anyone who's been around here a while knows that this is an area in which I've done and continue to do a lot of personal work. I was really glad to see that my SIL was thinking about these things and realizing that she needs to start changing her own self image so that she can set a healthy example for Rianna. It was a good conversation.

And then later in the day I happened upon this: a (free) Girls Self-Esteem Workshop sponsored by the Dove Self-Esteem Fund and Real Beauty Campaign that is being held a dance studio that is literally half a block from my house! The workshop is designed to empower girls by promoting new ways of thinking about beauty, body image and self-esteem with positive, confidence-building discussions and activities in a comfortable and judgement-free environment. Seriously, how awesomely serendipitous is that?!!
