Heads we will and tails we'll try again
:: I bought gas today for under $2 ($1.99 a gallon, to be precise). It was very exciting!!!
:: I have tickets to see Coldplay next Wednesday, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to go. It'son the other side of the world in Glendale. Plus it's the night before Thanksgiving and I'm sure I'll have tons of stuff to do. On the other hand, it's Coldplay. I'm torn.
:: I continue to love Sons of Anarchy. This week's episode blew me away! On one hand, Donna's death broke my heart. On the other, oh, my gods, I'm so glad it wasn't Opie. *clings* But, Opie! Oh, man, Opie just broke me. He looked so lost in that last scene. *pets him* I loved seeing Hale struggle with what to do, with what was right. That right there really made the character for me -- the criminal justice system is never black and white, and I immediately distrust any one who works in the system who hasn't developed an appreciation for this fact, and certainly I have difficulty believing any character who isn't made to navigate this grey area. Good job, show! Gemma is still a manipulative bitch and I love her! I love that Tara is so off center and flailing with regards to her relationship with Jax. And Jax! Jax knows that something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark. *nods* This show just brings it every week, and I can't wait to see what they do with next week's season finale.
:: As for Supernatural, I really liked the episode, despite, or maybe even because of, the tortured plot devices (Anna and her lost Grace???) and the numerous cheesetastic moments (Titanic hand of sexin' FTW!!!). Briefly, my favorite things about last night's episode were:
(1) The hilarious contrast between Dean's and Sam's sex scenes. But I can totally buy that tough-as-nails Dean would be the slow, gentle sex type, while sensitive Sam would be the slam up against the wall, hair pulling, biting sex animal. Still, it's amusing. And, hot. Definitely hot. I definitely approve of the boys havin' more sex. Hell, if the world's going to end, they should absolutely be sexin' it up at every opportunity. *nods*
(2) Castiel. That's all. Just Castiel. *bites lip*
(3) Dean's emotastic confession about his time in hell. Christ on cracker! Forty years!!! Oh, Dean. *pets him* I thought both the boys really hit all the right emotional chords in this scene. Well done.
In short, I'm still really enjoying season 4 and I'm going to miss the Winchester boys and Castiel, The Hotass Angel of the Lord. *clings*
:: Back in March during South by Southwest, a local music blogger recommended a new (or at least new to me) musician who she had heard play in Austin. I bookmarked his information, but it wasn't until today that I sat down to listen to his music. And I LOVED IT! His name is Ford Turrell, and he's fantastic. He's got this great smokey voice, lyrics that resonate, and just a real organic quality to his music.
Here are a few of my favorite tracks from his debut CD:
- Let You Down
- Ghost of Goodbye
- Roll Away the Stone
And, if you like what you heard, the full CD: Ford Turrell (.zip file, 65MB).
:: So. The weekend. What are y'all doing? I wanna hear all about your fabulous weekend plans!!!
