I've been reading a lot of Hawaii Five-O fic recently. Some of these are older, because they've been sitting in my "to read" folder for a while, but they were all thoroughly enjoyable!

H5O: Steve/Danny )

I love reading Steve/Danny, but a little Chin Ho in my fic wouldn't go amiss. I don't even care who he's paired with. Chin Ho is like the little black dress of the island -- he'd go great with anyone! The only problem? I can't find any Chin Ho fic!!!! *woe* So, if you know where the Chin Ho fic is hiding, please tell me! *begs prettily*

Now, back to the recs...

AI RPF: Kris/Adam )

Glam RPF: Adam/Tommy )

Glee: Kurt/Blaine )
Some fic recs for your weekend reading pleasure!

Happy reading! :D
Things what have amused me today:

:: This Kris Allen t-shirt! )

:: Don't even front. You know y'all want this penis chandelier in your foyer. *g*

:: His ridiculously adorable FAAAAAACE!!! )

:: This blind item made for some lulzy good times on my feed this afternoon. *laughs and lauhgs*

:: GLEE!!!!!!!! (I will have more to say about this later, but, the short version is, this show makes me happy!)

:: I bought tickets to see "Spring Awakening" when it plays here in January!!! This is very exciting to me! I also bought Disneyland tickets for our Christmas trip with The Nieces!!! (FYI: I'll be at Disneyland December 28th through January 1st, if any of my L.A. peeps want to join me for some magical good times in the happiest place on Earth! *beams*)

Oh, and I also made some yummy jambalaya for dinner!

Oh, one more thing! The Awesome Holiday Song of the Day! )

See? It was a pretty damn good Tuesday! :D
Ok, so, I'll say it, yesterday sucked. And not in the positive, life-affirming kind of way. I now live in a state that has actually elected Jan Brewer as governor; the Democrats lost control of the House; and people like Rand Paul were elected to the Senate. Not. A. Good. Day.

Today I had to trek to Tucson and back to pick up my grandmother. That drive is brutal. And all I got out of it was a piña colada Eeegee. What I'm basically getting at here, is that, given the past two days, I could use some cheering up. So, how 'bout some random bits of awesomeness?

I know I always talk about Adam around here, but, in case I hadn't made it clear, let me say that Kris Allen is fabulous too!!! Only, you know, fabulous in plaid instead of glitter. )

Also awesome? Pink's new song, "F**kin' Perfect"!!! It's, well, FUCKING PERFECT!!! (Too awesome for asterisks!) If you haven't heard it yet, you should. You can check it out HERE.

And while we're on the subject of Pink's awesomeness, have you seen her video for "Raise Your Glass"? I dig it. *nods*

Raise Your Glass! )

Both of these It Gets Better videos were awesome in totally different ways: beautiful voices, beautiful faces, beautiful message (and one green frog). )

You know what else is awesome? The rest of that Eeegee from earlier today made even betterer with the addition of a generous amount of Malibu rum!!! Delish! :D

Ok, me and my rum laced Eeegee are feeling better about life now. *g* What's happening with y'all?
Still cleaning out my "Awesome Fics to Rec" folder. These are all longer fics of the Kris/Adam variety. Enjoy!

Kradam Fic Recs )
I'll never be able to write up full recs on everything that's currently sitting in my "Fics to Rec" folder. So I'm just going to post these and y'all can safely assume that I loved them all!

30 fics y'all should read because they're awesome! )
I was tired of wallowing in my own pissy, moody, self-pitying depressive funk, so I started taking SAMe, and, seriously, only after a few days I can totally tell the difference. Yay for happy pill mood adjustments!!! \o/

I watched the Glee Rocky Horror episode yesterday, and, to be honest, I was kinda MEH about it. It's probably my least favorite episode this season. I did, however, love Jim Cantiello's Musical 'Glee-Cap', with a special musical guest! *coughPocketIdolcough*

Other than that, though, I'm behind on all my other shows; and I don't know when I'll be catching up now that the World Series has started. But, YAY, World Series baseball!!! I'm expecting some damn good baseball!

Now what this day needs to take it from good to damn good is some yummy mac & cheese for dinner! I'm going to go whip some of that up and then sit down to enjoy the rest of this game.

Ten Kradam recs for your Sunday reading pleasure!

Like the Music You Play by lizziebethc
Kris/Adam | Explicit | 23,262 words
Kris shows up on Adam's tour, and decides to stay. I'm usually wary when an author discloses that whatever you're about to read is their first fic, but I'm so glad I went ahead and read this anyway. This is such a thoroughly satisfying read: great characterizations, perfect pacing and story development, solid writing. It may be her first, but I certainly hope it wasn't her last!

Electricity Sparks Inside of Me by [livejournal.com profile] condancer
Kris/Adam | NC-17 | 41,873 words (written for [livejournal.com profile] kradambigbang
Kris Allen, high school orchestra teacher, meets Adam Lambert, high school drama/choral teacher. Sparks fly… and the rest is in the story. So enjoyable!

Just Listen by [livejournal.com profile] kissoffools
Kris/Adam | PG-13 | 10,045 words
“No one ever picks up on me, that’s the thing. I’m always the one doing it. Maybe if someone would step up to the plate and ask me out for once… I wish they would.” An AU in which Kris is a college barista, Adam works for a gay magazine, and all Kris really wants is that first date.

Tuesdays at Manny's by LittleMousling
Kris/Adam | Explicit | 29,883 words
After years of working to break into the music industry, Adam is starting to let his bill-paying waiter job become more like a career. And then American Idol winner Kris Allen comes into his restaurant. This may be one of my favorite Kris/Adam stories ever! In fact, I think I may just have to read it again today just because I can!

Only Fools Rush In by [livejournal.com profile] kissoffools & [livejournal.com profile] wakeyourheart
Kris/Adam | PG | 5,158 words
There are a lot of little moments that lead up to the moment when a man proposes... and Kris remembers them all. This will melt your heart! Adorable!

The Bowl by [livejournal.com profile] jerakeen
Kris/Adam | PG-13 | 1,700 words
Gummi Bears! Or, more precisely, Kris and Adam AS gummi bears! Don't try to understand it -- just go read. I promise it's both ridiculous and amazing!

sings the song without words by [livejournal.com profile] astolat
Kris/Adam
A fusion with Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy; I had this tab open forever and hadn't read it because I'm only marginally familiar with the source material. But it doesn't really matter, because either way this story is FABULOUS!

Which None May Buy by solvent
Kris/Adam | NC-17 | ~23,000 words
Regency-style Harlequin AU, arranged marriage. Delightfully fluffy and fun!

Take Up Serpents by [livejournal.com profile] abusing_sarcasm
Kris/Adam | R | ~1,700 words
This is dark and a bit disturbing, but the language and the imagery are strangely and starkly beautiful.

Friends With Benefits by [livejournal.com profile] cynnet
Kris/Adam | R | 26,500 words
Adam is pretty horrible at being a personal assistant or receptionist, or whatever it is that he is, exactly. But that's okay, because Kris is pretty horrible at being a rock star.
I've been doing a lot of fic reading lately. I'm looking at this as one of the silver linings of unemployment! *g* Whatevs. My excess of free time, means more fic recs for you!

Enjoy, bbs! *mwah*

Lots of awesome stories involving lots of pretty boys doing lots of amazing and filthy things to each other! Good times! )

randomness

Aug. 11th, 2010 06:13 pm
Just in the last 24 hours I was reminded several times of how AMAZING my friends are, both in RL and online. They are wickedly smart, and incredibly generous, and amazingly talented, and fiercely authentic, and so inspiring, strong and courageous. And, just so we're clear, y'all are FABULOUS. *loves*

Ok, then. :)

Here, have some sparkly stuff:

:: An MP3 file of Adam's live cover of '20th Century Boy. I've had it stuck in my head on continuous loop for the past 20 hours! Not that I'm complaining or anything. *g*

:: A happy-making picture of Adam grinning like a fool at Tommy. Their FAAAAACES!!!

:: A truly amazing cover of KeSha's 'Take It Off' that is about two bazillion times better when Ke$sha is not involved! I had no idea I could love this song so much!

:: How 'bout some fic recs?!! )
Pretty Boy #1: Cheeks

Cheeks released a new video yesterday; this one is on the gay marriage issue. It's called "Don't be a Dick," and like all of Cheeks' videos it's both smart and hilarious. A seriously sexy combination. Also, he has sparkly rainbows in his eyes. He says they weren't intentional and he doesn't know what caused them, but they're kinda mesmerizing.

Pretty Boy #2: Kris Allen

I'm not sure what kinda breakfast of champions Kris has been eating lately, but goddamn whatever it is it's making for some ridiculously hot Pocket Idolness.

Pretty Boy #3: Adam Lambert

Adam changed up his set list tonight at his show in Erie, PA, and instead of Whole Lotta Love or Mad World he covered T. Rex's 20th Century Boy for his encore. Um, excuse me while I lose my shit again over that just one more time! lakdjfldkjofidkdkfjdifjdkf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was listening to the live stream of the show, and I think I might have let out an actual squeal of delight when I heard the opening guitar chords. *g*

(ETA: HQ vid.)

Two more vids of the encore. )

No, seriously, Adam was BORN to cover this song! This is the first time they do it and it is brilliant! Also, I fully expect him to be on his knees, licking Tommy's bass, by the time he takes his glittery, brilliant, AMAZING self to New Orleans! Just sayin'.

I haven't had time to do this in so long that my "Fics to Rec" folder has grown to frightening levels. And some of these I read so long ago now that I feel bad about dropping random comments out of the sky for the authors. But if I don't start leaving feedback and clearing out that bookmark folder now, I'm never going to get it done. So, I'm just going to start posting these a handful at a time and maybe just dropping a few recs randomly into posts until I can get that folder back down to manageable levels.

Kris/Adam
Don't Look Back on Yesterday by [livejournal.com profile] rivers_bend
Kris/Adam | Teen | 2,100 words
Adam is actually capable of being friends with a guy without falling in love. Mostly. The emotions here are so gritty and real, and the author really does a great job with Adam's voice. It's heart-achy, but wonderful.

Come On, Get Higher by [livejournal.com profile] vanya_elda
Kris/Adam | R | 3,165
Kris's self discovery...through pot. Pot! Shotgunning! Philosophical discussions about cupcake sprinkles! This fic is just good times!

Hold by [livejournal.com profile] jerakeen
Kris/Adam | R | 2,400
“You can have the bottom bunk,” Lambert says, pushing Kris unceremoniously into the cell. Then he smirks. “I like the top.” Quite possibly the fluffiest, schmoopiest prison!fic ever! It's prison!fic, and yet it's delightful. *boggles*

Crash by [livejournal.com profile] itsmadeofgold
Kris/Adam | R | 1,659
Apparently this plane doesn't come with oxygen masks, but that's ok because it means they can kiss instead!

Pour Some Sugar On Me (in the Name of Love) by [livejournal.com profile] jerakeen
Kris/Adam | NC-17 | 9,250
Adam is a stripper. And Kris makes tea. Somehow this results in an absolutely delightful story.

A Cup of Kindness Yet by [livejournal.com profile] sporadic_fic
Kris/Adam | PG-13 | 5,811
Five New Year's Eves with Adam. I loved the progression of this fic. It manages to be both heartwrenching, and hopeful, and, in the end, delightful.

Adam/Tommy
Wanna see you strut by [livejournal.com profile] rivers_bend
Adam/Tommy | Adult | 550
If life were a masturbatory fantasy, the Finnish X-Factor performance might have ended something like this. So much HOT packed into 550 words! And, even with all that, it's the last part that I loved the most.

The Mr. Lambert Effect by [livejournal.com profile] sribblinlenore
Adam/Tommy | NC-17 | 33,000
A high school AU. Tommy is a bored senior counting down the days until freedom. Spring semester gets a lot more interesting when substitute teacher Mr. Lambert takes over in history class. So much to love about this! First, she deftly manages the student/teacher dynamic with authenticity and yet managing to any creepiness. And her Tommy voice is just perfection. Really, in every way that matters, this fic just works. Such a satisfying read!

Adam/Brad
Interview Techniques and How Not To Give An Interview by LittleMousling
Adam/Brad | Explicit | 11,598 and 10,388, respectively
Talking about exes is not a sparkle-positive behavior. It leads to sparkle diminution. There is simply not enough Adam/Brad in my life, and I can't even begin to express the fabulousness of this series of fics! The first is written from Adam's POV, the second from Brad's, and they are both wonderful!

Happy reading!
For the record, the Pocket Idol is indeed pocket-sized in person. But he is also a confusing yet awesome mix of OMG SO ADORABLE and HOLY HELL SO GODDAMN HOT.

So, to start at the beginning, yesterday [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck, [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and I drove down to Tucson for Kris's show at the Rialto. Thanks to Vicki's handy-dandy GPS, I actually managed to get there without getting lost! But, even more awesome, Kris was there to greet us when we arrived! Well, sort of. As we were pulling into our parking spot, he walked out of the theater door directly in front of us with his guitar. We were caught a little off guard, so we didn't manage anything more than "Awwww, it's Kris!" We obviously have to practice our camera phone reflexes. *g*

After grabbing some food and one of the most delicious strawberry margaritas I've ever tasted at the Congress Hotel, we got our tickets and got in line. I was pleased at the diversity I saw in that line. There were certainly plenty of young teenage girls, but there were also plenty of guys, older couples, and young kids. We had the BEST time just watching the adorable fanboy in front of us completely lose his shit over Kris! *g*

Green River Ordinance opened and they were fantastic. I need to get me some GRO music because I completely loved their sound.

Kris was AMAZING!!! He far exceeded my expectations. He just really seems to have grown into his own this past year; he's much more comfortable on stage; his voice is sounding great; he and his band just seem to gel really well and produce such a great sound; he has just really developed as a performer. Basically, I freakin' loved it!!!

The set list included: "Can't Stay Away," "Heartless/ Gangsta's Paradise" (which I will always love a billion times better than Kanye's version), "Written All Over My Face" (one of my favorites off his CD), "Red Guitar," "The Truth," "Alright With Me" (another favorite), "Bring it Back," "Maybe," an awesome cover of Oasis' "Don't Look Back In Anger" (which is apparently the first time he's done it), "Before We Come Undone," "Man in the Mirror," "Is It Over" (gorgeous song!), "Live Like We're Dying" (which I love so much more live than on the CD), "Falling Slowly/With or Without You" (he does such a beautiful version of what is already a beautiful song, and I just love how is mashes it up with "With or Without You") and "Come Together."

There are some great videos HERE. She's disabled embedding, but it's worth the click over to see how awesome Kristopher was last night!

I stupidly forgot my camera, but I got a few pictures on my Blackberry.

MOAR KRIS )

After the show we walked out to the car and Kris was hanging out, practically in front of my car, taking pictures and signing autographs. I did mention that he's ADORABLE, right?!!! You can tell that he was exhausted, but he was still a total sweetheart. In sum, it was a great show! I was completely entertained, very impressed, and thoroughly charmed by Kristopher Allen. *g*
Today's happiness, let me tell you about it! *g*

First, last night there was this:

Photobucket

Thank you, boys, for the epic degrees of fanservice you are dishing up on this tour. Please feel free to lick each other any time the mood strikes. *g*

And then there are the plans for N'awlins shenanigans in September that are underway! I managed to put all my lawyerly skills to bear and persuade [livejournal.com profile] azewewish to join me and [livejournal.com profile] coolwhipdiva for said shenanigans. Or, you know, NOT REALLY. Because, really, she did not put up much resistance. *g* But, OMG, New Orleans, and Adam, and Adam and Tommy licking each others' faces, and Saints football, and Jeremy Shockey's abs and ink, and beignets, and ME AND MY GIRLS RAISING HELL IN N'AWLINS!!!!! I might be a little bit excited about this. *g*

And then there's all the World Cup related excitement. I, sadly, missed this mornings amazing U.S. win because I had to be in court. Nevertheless, GO USA!!! I hope those boys are celebrating properly, which, you know, should include lots of post-game adrenaline fueled sex. *g*

More awesome picspam of pretty boys celebrating (sadly NOT with hot, post-game adrenaline fueled sex) HERE. (Link courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mistresscurvy.)

But the HAPPIEST part of today involves one adorable and ridiculously hot POCKET IDOL!!! KRIS!!!!!! Tonight! I'll be skipping out of work early to drive down to Tucson with [livejournal.com profile] llandaffaz and [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck. We plan on getting lost on the way to the Rialto (dear gods, I've never managed to make it there without getting lost and then accidentally finding it!), and then we plan on stalking accidentally running into Kris and the band (what? it totally could happen by coincidence! *g*), and then we plan on ROCKING OUR FACES OFF at the show!!! Good times, people, this is sure to be damn good times.
For some reason that simply defies explanation, I've been awake since 4 a.m. I'm thinking that this day is going to require both lots of caffeine and lots of random awesomeness to keep me awake and productive. I'm on my second huge Tigger mug of coffee, which takes care of the lots of caffeine and, because it's Tigger, also counts as random awesomeness. I'll definitely be needing more of both, but for now let's concentrate on the random awesomeness!

>> The Non-Football Fan's Guide to the World Cup, or, What To Do If You're Just Here for the Hot Men. This is perhaps the BEST thing on the internets today!!!

>> Quote: "Accepting oneself does not preclude an attempt to become better." ~ Flannery O'Connor.

>> Exercising the Happiness Muscle. Sadly, this isn't as kinky as it sounds. Instead it's "10 Easy Ways to Be Happy Now." Not kinky, but still AWESOME! I think we should all pick one to practice today! Y/Y? Tell me which one you're doing!

>> How Not To Obsess About Looking Fat In A Swimsuit and F-ing Enjoy Yourself! My freckles and very un-Latina-like white skin do not take kindly to sunshine, so unless there's a hot server bringing me fruity alcoholic beverages while I hide from the sun under a shaded cabana I'm not really into the whole beach/pool thing. But I nevertheless add my resounding HELL YEAH to everything said in that blog!

>> Attention Hot Geek Chicks on my flist (and I know there are a lot of you!): Casting call for hot, smart geek chicks at NerdGirls.com!

>> Kris Allen. What? You need more explanation of Kris's awesomeness??? Well, first, he gives us this: )

and this: )

But, lest we forget with all the hotness, he's still completely ADORKABLE: He's got PINK ELEPHANT tour t-shirts!!! *laughs and laughs* I am SO glad I'll be seeing his hot, dorky self on the 23rd!!!

Ok, that's enough caffeine and awesome to get me through 'til about 10 a.m. I'll take care of the coffee, but I'm relying on y'all to provide me with enough random awesomeness to get me through the rest of the day. Ready? Go! :)

june

Jun. 1st, 2010 01:43 pm
Nearly half of 2010 is gone! How in the hell did that happen so quickly???

Does anyone do mid-year reassessments? What have I done this year? What do I still need to do? What changes have worked? What needs tweaking?

No? Just me then. :) Virgo with Libra rising -- this should not come as a surprise to anyone! *laughs*

Anyway, in thinking about all those things and how my word for the year, PUSH, has shaped 2010 so far and what still needs pushing in the second half of the year, I've been considering taking a Landmark class later this year, either in August or October. But before I do, since my flist is an amazing group with a wide variety of interests and experiences, I thought I'd check in with y'all to see if anyone has ever worked with Landmark and has any thoughts or experiences to share. What do y'all think? *curious*

So, June. Right now, this month feels like a 30 day delay between now and all the glittery good times scheduled for July. But that's unacceptable! Must live in the moment! So we gotta make June rock all on its own!

For starters, Miike Snow is in concert this Saturday at The Clubhouse. I have NO idea how to pronounce their name, but I like to think of them as so cool they need an extra "i"! *g* Also, their music is freakin' fantastic! So, who wants to join me on Saturday??? *beams*

This month also has Pocket Idol!!! [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck and I are trekking to Tucson on the 23rd to see Kris Allen do his thang at the Rialto Theater. Exciting!!! There's still room in my car if anyone wants to join us! *tempts*

So, yeah, let's do this thing, June! *resolves to make it a damn good month*

Ok, so looking past June for a moment, there was a recent interview with Adam where he talks about opening his show with "Voodoo" and how he decided to have that sort of be the theme of Glam Nation, a voodoo, New Orleans kinda vibe. Which has led to speculation that perhaps he'll close the tour in New Orleans, or at the very least, have a show there. Which leads me to think that there must be a New Orleans trip in my near future!!!! Hookers, what do y'all think? It's been waaaay too long since we were last in NOLA, and this seems like the perfect reason to correct that! Y/Y/Motherfucking YES????

And, also, THIS!

Photobucket

[Bigger here.]

Unf. Seriously, though, how is he so fucking fabulous??? Lee Cherry took that photo, by the way, which just goes to prove, yet again, that Adam has the most amazingly talented friends.

Ok, I've rambled long enough. Now I wanna hear about you! Tell me what's happening in your JUNE!
Awesome things from this weekend, in list form! Because lists make me happy!

- Great workout with the trainer on Saturday!

- Spring cleaned the hell outa my room! (Shush! I know it's nearly summer! It still totally counts!)

- Got tickets for me and my mom to go to Adam's San Francisco show in July!

- Hair cut!!! Shiny and bouncy hair!

- Pedicure on my toes toes! Sparkly toes FTW!

- Shopping spree! Spiffy new suit and other assorted work clothes! AND! Pants that are two sizes smaller than the last time I went shopping! Go me! \o/

- Discovered that I will get to see Kris Allen live this summer after all, as his Tucson show is JUNE 23rd instead of July 23rd! Pocket Idol!!! (Also, [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck has an extra ticket if anyone wants to join us!)

- Totally random but lovely chat with the Texas boy.

- Delicious homemade fruit smoothies!

- Finished reading Josh Lanyon's Strange Fortune and I loved it!!!
Let's talk about ME! *beams*

First, work has been kickin' my butt, but despite the months of 10-12 hour days, I'm still feeling fairly positive about it. Yeah, I don't even know. But I'm having FUN doing my job again and that's pretty awesome.

Second, in case y'all didn't know this, I ROCK! *g* That's true for a lot of reasons, but at the moment I'm referring to me rockin' the Take Better Care of Me Plan that is still going fantastically, if imperfectly, well. Not only have I been eating mindfully and journaling all my food for over 2 1/2 months, but I've also managed to lose 27 pounds. I could definitely be more consistent with the exercise portion of the Take Better Care of Me Plan, but I'm working on it and, more importantly, I'm not beating myself up over the imperfections. So, um, GO ME!!! \o/

Third, I've been making some summer travel plans and other plans for Fun Things To Do this summer, and I'm super excited for what's ahead!

Summer Fun )

And, here are some other fabulously sparkly tidbits for our Friday:

>> Russell Crowe and his Merry Men singing Beautiful Girls:

This brightened my whole day yesterday! And, to make it even more fantastic, according to his Twitter, they repeated this performance on the Spanish Steps in Rome later that day! *loves and loves* Can we get those damn TOFOG dates now!

>> Photos from the set of Adam Lambert's music video shoot for If I Had You where he invited all of his magical friends to take part in the all night party a la Burning Man video. Cheeks! Cassidy! Alisan! Rahab! And practically all the Zodiac cast! Eeee!!! So many fabulous people! I cannot wait to see this video!

>> Meet Adam and do good! Charity auction of an Adam Lambert concert and meet & greet to benefit City of Hope. I'm SO tempted!
